From the Georgia Dome is the
semi-finals of the 4A division. Featuring The Thomas County
Central. Yellow Jackets coming in tonight's contest with a
perfect 13 and 0 record. They will make the Gators aware,
Connie coming into the semi-final match up with an
11 and to Mark overall on the season. And we welcome you everybody
inside The Georgia Dome Charles
Stuart's Ward alongside DJ
Jones. John Nelson will Jonah. Join us
momentarily. DJ as we talk about tonight's
ballgame, the theme for this one, w
ould probably have to
reflect back to 1978 that Grammy winning record by
Rolls-Royce Love. Don't Live Here Anymore. You're absolutely
right. Charles. In fact, these two teams have played four times
in the last five years so they definitely know a lot about each other but that love loves us not going
to get any better tonight. Mainly because of a guy
by the name of the Braille Smiley, he's affectionately known as the
train. Now this guy before the season, Is over. He'll be
the all-time leading ru
sher and yards and touchdowns for Thomas County, Yellow
Jackets. And if that's not enough for you to quarterback PJ Williams, he's the guy that will make this game work for the
L. Jackson fact. He is a quick agile and a smart guy,
and the coaches. Really loved the way he's matured from last year to this year. Hey, Jay Williams, a quarterback
for the Yellowjackets, of course, the Yellowjackets
coached by head coach at Pilcher Pilcher, and its 17th season at Thomas County Central You caught up wit
h him, prior to
the Ball Game, to get us thoughts about their game plan
for the contest against the Gators. Well offensively. We want a dinosaur offensive split
back. There are not many people who run it anymore, but we've
been running for the last 20 years. It's basically, you know, to
backs and it's an option game. We've been very successful with
it over the over the period of years that we've run. It will have a big running back to
Braille Smiley and in a quarterback PJ Williams and
makes the
offense go, and there's three options to it, you
know, the dive the quarterback end and the
pitch and We've been doing that. Like I said for 20 years and we
going to stay with him now defensively. We are basically an
eight-man front and we stay with an eight-man front. Make
different adjustments and others get biggest different
sets, but we're kind of a multiple defensive front and the Gators are 11 and 2 on
the season. DJ they have some very athletic players for that
Squad. And when you say at
hletic we're talking about
guys that have to double up, not only as linebackers, but as
running backs as well and it's running a system of a running
back by committee but Going to start with Derek
Daniels. He's the guy on defense that is the leader of
this team. The coaches really like his leadership. They like
his motor. They said they'd in order for them to stop the Thomas counties, Yellow,
Jackets tonight. This guy has to be all over the field and if
he's a seasoned, this guy, that's not enou
gh for you. You
got another guy by the name of Cleveland Jackson. Now, he's the all-time leading
tackler for this ball Club. So he too will have to his name.
Would be happy to call it a lot. Tonight course, the
question is going to be in this contest tonight. Paul severe
with that sir. Our offense for the
Yellowjackets effect that tandem on defense for the Gators
with Jackson and the rest of that defense. You're
right. You know what the interesting thing about
Cleveland Jackson is that both his
parents are dentists. Now, how often do you find that? This
guy obviously has to be a great kid. Pretty clean teeth
as well. Whatever have to really not out tonight for that.
Veer offense with Thomas County Central, it's so
effective but Smiley and Williams. It is in fact, effectively, you
know what the athletes that you're talking about with Ware
County, they're gonna have to make plays, and they're going to
have to cost honor turnovers. That's in my opinion.
Is going to be the only way for the
m to have
opportunities. Unity to stop the train. There's no love lost between
these two teams, but we have nothing but love for our guard
on the sidelines, John Nelson, thank you. Charles hopelessly
devoted to you and DJ. As always, when these two Cha-Cha
on the Dance Floor tonight, the four games that they played. In the region from
2002 to 2005. Three of the four were decided by five points or
less. In the game was played in the high 20s. Low 30s, Dan
regular from where county says that if it
gets that high he's
in trouble the higher the score the more he is going to have to
play from behind His players also know that
tonight guys, it is do or die. We are back live inside. The
Georgia Dome getting set for the semi-finals of the 4A
division. Yellow jackets have Thomas
County Central and the Gators of Ware County both vying for that remaining
spot in the finals next weekend. Hence the Eagles of Northside
Warner Robins weiners earlier here in the
Georgia, Dome toss was conducted Gators
will
be kicking it away to get us going. Dan rival. Head coach of the
Gators of. We're counting night season at the school 69% winning
percentage. 72 wins for the head coach. Gators. Probably look. One of the more
surprising teams to make it to the semi-finals. You consider
the other three that are part of the, for a division that are good season for the
Gators. Back to the back Legion,
Champions with a kick right side and out of bounds. Smiley took a
look at it. And the yellow jackets getting
set to go on offense. Free kick infraction. Monica came to Tom's getting into electric Kong
a 35-yard line. So after the out-of-bounds kick, yellow, jackets from their own
35, See, our offense of the
Yellowjackets. It's something we'll have to stay on top of
tonight. Williams keeps it first time
around. Got it up here. The 36 Adrian
Mack in on the stop for the Gators PJ Williams 742 yards on the
season through the air. 35 completions eight touchdowns
just four interceptions. They don't toss it m
uch the Yellowjackets don't, but when they do Williams pretty
effective, Second down and nine. We're gonna handle left side
with the carry with Rawls. Rawls. Got it up near the 46. The lineup for the Yellowjackets
pulled determined. He's a good one,
Stan DeLand, Rackley and how the five up front, the Comets
County Central, that's a good group, probably the best in the
state Rawls and Smiley. The running backs, Miller Rogers and will seize. Those are the wide outs and
receivers we call them. The
Maytag
repairman. They don't get much
action but there's some pretty good
blockers for Thomasville first down, play on the ground at smiley. Smiley Falls a crowd. Here, the
47. Defense for the Gators of Ware
County, they'll stack it up this way
when that 4-3 defense King Boyd Stanton and Jenkins up
front for the Gators linebacking Corps, Daniels. He's a good one mentor and so is
Jax, we actually highlight at Jackson, Daniels Earth, good Victor Daniels Adams, white and
Anderson. Those are the guy
s that make up this
secondary for the Gators of we're counting, second down, play on the ground. Spinning and fighting ahead is Williams. The quarterback
Williams. Got it inside of Gator territory near
the 47 yard line. Charles is no secret that the
Charleston poke Jay Williams is the Catalyst. In this offense,
making the decisions and obviously running this beer, he
will be definitely a cute tonight. Third down and 3 for Williams
and the yellow jackets on the ground that give it the
smiley, smi
ley fights, his way ahead inside the 45 near that
first down marker for the Yellowjackets. The success of the Yellowjackets
offense. This year, of course, we talked about
it earlier and talking about PJ Williams and also the outstanding running back
into Braille Smiley. And these guys obviously will take what
the defense gives you and of course PJ making the call on the V
rocker was giving the ball up inside didn't one or two yards and
again a lot of his yards have come
after faking it up inside
and keeping it on the corner. We
should note that smiley holds two records at Thomas County
Central at this point 34 touchdowns This is a school record in one
season is also a host of career record
touchdown record with 80, it'll came into the night's
ballgame, only 66 yards, shy of a career rushing total at Thomas County Central. And
that says, a lot, that says a great deal. That's a
lot of yardage in the area, you know, over 4,500 yards for
his career, like he left the region. All three years
the
past three years, trailing, Joe Burns who played a ton of County
Central in 1997 in career rushing first down on a pickup
by Smiley. Football at the 44 of the Gators
first drive, the semi-final football game. Left side. Straight ahead with the Kerry, was Rawls. Rawls back into that lineup for
the Yellowjackets after having been injured early in the
season. But Brian got the injury in these silly. Quarterfinal matchup with
Whitewater. So, Rawls back out on the field now. Definitely
a welcome
d addition, of course, to relieve smiley On the replay, just straight
ahead football by the Yellowjackets on that
particular play that with that Veer offense. It's Granite, you
just see them going. Straight ahead a lot of trap locking
inside a lot of misdirection on the handoffs, second down, six thousand yellow
jackets. As you see Williams back from behind the center as a whistle comes in with a
flag, will tell you why he's doing
that. In just a moment. We'll check out the flag prior to the sna
p. Dead ball on the 5-yard penalty as as William steps back from other
to Sony's, looking at the sideline and he's looking
over four, quarterbacks coach Leonard geitman coach, Clavier
man himself down at Thomas County Central and in college calls, the play
from the sideline there, they got caught with the delay,
trying to get to play in their very interesting observation. Second down 11, Quick Pitch, right sock. Smiley
face a head near the 40 and you have to love the way.
She Molly brings it dow
n hill and it's no secret. That
obviously has the other GT has. He's career gonna be the career
leader for the Yellowjackets. As you
see he takes the toss here and you know what he gets under his
past, he's got that body lean and of course he falls forward
for 45 yards. Excellent, kick out flock by the rod, receiver on that side of the field for
the Yellowjackets third. Out, six, misdirection option pitch,
smiley behind if it's loose. It's still loose. Now Williams,
Dives on it for the Yellowjac
kets Gators. Got a
great surge, they did get a great Surge and I
know this is the kind of effort that they're going to
need on the defensive side. In order for them to have a chance
to really stop this great, great offense of Thomas County Central
here. You see those green hats flying
to the ball and again they got to come up
with a few of those if they want to be in this game tonight. Pitch clearly behind Smiley. He was not able to pull it in Speedy Williams, jumps on it for
the Yellowjackets.
Now, the yellow jackets will put it
away. Chad Chandler oppenheim set to
do that for Thomas County Central heavy Rush by the Gators by
oppenheim with a nice high kick over the shoulder. Catch by
Victor Daniels near the 14 yard line and the Gators of where
County will go to office. But I think that definitely
where county has set the tone here. They know
that they can't stop. They definitely can can stand and
play with these guys. They're proving that early on here. Quick break here at the Georgi
a
Dome no score in the semi-final match up between the yellow
jackets and the Gators back after this quick timeout back
live at the Georgia Dome One play as a lapse while we were
away. So running play by the Gators it
didn't gain any ours actually lost. The yard on the
play, it'll be second down and 11 for Ware County. Dustin Cox is a junior
quarterback. For the Gators showing shotgun on the second
downplay. Cox will keep it himself left
side. Got past a 15 took a hard shot near the 16 yard line
. We'll take a look at the
starting lineup for the Gators of Ware County. In this
semifinal, matchup upfront, Strickland Staton car,
Lewis and Martin the center. Daniel's Anderson, the running
backs bowls roach in Cahokia the tight end for the Gators. That's been constant
quarterback, third down and eight. From the 16. Cox surveys fires in the flats
past batted away. Good defensive work. By PJ Williams and that
secondary for the yellow jacket and Williams. Obviously, you
know, he's the quarterba
ck on offense and he doubles as a
cornerback of excellent break on the ball. You take a look
here as the past by Cox. He throws a dart out there but PJ
Williams, making a nice break on it to break up that pass. That makes it fourth down. Now Gators with a quick three and
out and Williams will stand near the
45 to receive the punt. From Cole, Anderson for the
Gators. Zach Griffin, putter for the
Gators. Short kick by Griffin bounces at the 40. Now, pickles out near the 46,
yard line First, and Te
n for the Yellowjackets. Coaching 5 minutes remaining in
this first quarter of football. Right side Williams, keeps it
himself. Watch it back near Midfield. Adrian Mack and on the stop for
the Gators. Nice push there by the defensive
front, for Ware County. Boyd Jenkins up front along with
Stanton and King second down and seven. Semi-final match up from the
Georgia Dome. The be back in the booth with
Richard, Lester and muster. ER, and microns
statistician filling right at home. Inside trap play
, smiley on the carry near the 45. You wonder why this young man
has so much success over his career, but look at those guys
up front, making that push their controlling that line of
scrimmage, giving him an opportunity to gain those
three. Tough yards, at Thomas, County, Central offensive line.
They rotate about seven players in and out of that lineup
throughout the course of the game, a lot of power and a lot of
fresh legs. That equates to a lot of yardage
for the running backs, third down pla
y smiling, right
sides. Got to move at the corner, tripped up near the 25 yard
line, Daniel's cut the legs from under
him, but not until they move the chains. And that was just a great
example of why, this young man will be the career leading
rusher and touchdown maker for Thomas County Central here.
You see him taking the handoff here off, tackle getting to the
outside. He's a big guy. But you know what? He got to the
corner there so that shows you he has Excellent quickness. The assignment blo
cking for the yellow. Jackets have flooded
just absolutely tremendous. Great job of sealing to the
inside. Breaking Smiley for the corner on the ground. Rawls fights
ahead near the 20 yard line, you get the feeling that Thomas
County, Central's offense, this kind of pounds on you. And just to just
beat you down over the course of four quarters at this pace
with those types of running backs in that kind of line. It's
got to be tough. You see it throughout the course of the
season, the team coming
fresh. Into the Ballgame excited. They can play well with
you but for a while but after a while it just starts to wear on you
and wear on your next thing. You know, you're down by three
touchdowns on the ground, they pitch it,
drawls checks out of the field, good defensive work by the
Gators. That's about 45 of them on that
play. He's absolutely. You see those green hats running to the
football and you have to love it. And you know on the flip
side of stopping and offense of this magnitude is y
ou got to
have all of you know all 11 guys running to
the football. You see the reaction here, the guy
reading the keys, they're
keeping contained and squaring up making
the textbook tackle. And look at those hats surrounding
that ball. That's what they're going to need to stop this train
Tonight. Cole Anderson, let the search
for the Gators third down. William rolls fires got a man,
but overthrows are intended for Jermaine Miller. The past by Williams, overthrown by about 10 yards, he
missed an
opportunity there but I'm sure that they'll keep
that in the back of their mind here. Check it out to look at
it. He's open he's clearly open and just had a little mutt too
much mustard on that pass. Their sometimes get a little anxious, but the defensive back there,
Eric Adams, they're giving up a little much cushion, fourth down and 10. They will
bring on the field goal team 40-yard effort. By oppenheim they get it down hop in the
Hound drops. It got enough leg on it to get it through. Do we
push the left side? The senior kicker. For the
Yellowjackets, this is on his first field. Goal opportunity
here from the Georgia Dome, Yellow Jackets, push it down
field but unable to convert it into scores. And you know you know over the
course of the game if we're kinda can keep fighting
and keep fighting and of course, giving themselves an
opportunity to play in this game. Now again, these guys have
played each other four times in the last five years.
So, you know, they know each other
pretty
well and it's not going to be. I think one-sided if
these guys continue to play the effort that with Playing with now. Gators take over on possession from
their own 20. Short hitch, pass out the flat
sketch made by Roch Roch hit immediately after
sideline. Yellowjacket defense shapes up this way. Cloud Williams heard and Lori
Lori, part of a set of Brothers for
the Yellowjackets. There's the other Lori Autry and
Williams. The linebacking corps
for the Yellowjackets and the
secondary Walton Walt
on, they're
not Brothers Larkin and Survivor the free. Safety for Thomas County Central, good defense by the yellow
jackets only giving up 100 yards per
game on the ground about 135 in the air. Quick Pitch left side. Football is to Beatrice white
for the Gators in the whites, got a first down for where count
it. You got to like that burst by white deer. Those legs
until, you know, we talked about speed and quickness. But
this guy, hit the whole got it up in there and took advantage of
every yard
that was given to him here. You
see it takes the pitch from Cox. He cuts up inside. Finds
them a lane and accelerates into the secondary of Thomas
County Central. You talked about off air DJ before the
Ballgame started about the athleticism of the Gators of
where County we're seeing if they're shuffling
players in and out of that line. Dwight with the carry there on
the season, over 300 yards for dimitra's why. So they got a lot of weapons to
Gators. Do they go misdirection on the
inside this t
ime? Get Daniels with the football flag coming in somehow, Daniels, find some room
to the outside but we'll check out the flag. Tell you
what, he got behind his past there and bulldoze over that Defender. We're talking about these where
County backs. They're, you know, they go out on a running
back by committee type system in talking to Paul
Callahan the offense of coordinator. He
says that he loves the fact that these guys are so versatile
and so athletic. Oh yeah, it Williams trying to
get out
on the stop of the yellow jackets and saw the
official indicated was a face mask and Williams guilty of the
face mask for the Yellowjackets. I know it's late in the season
of course, but PJ Williams, just starting at corner and
starting at quarterback. He's to put it in a punt. Returner,
you know, late in the quarter, the third
and fourth quarters especially the way he know he has a tendency to run
the ball on offense. It'll be interesting to see how
his stamina holds up. Take a look at the off
iciating crew
for tonight's ballgame, referee, Dean Stewart umpire,
David Bromberg. We'll get the rest of them in the moment,
but they are sorting things out after the face mask call, and I'll bring on a measurement
after the assessment. Minute Twenty Eight remaining.
In this first quarter semifinal matchup, we have an
incident in face mask. On the defense will be a 5-yard
penalty and that penalty will result in
a first down. Gators benefit from the Yellow Jacket
penalty, though, have a first in
10 football and Their Own 43-yard
Line. This is their most sustained
possession of the football game. They're determined and you know
getting these guys are going in this, with the same
ferocity of a velocity is the rivalries. In the past, five
years, Cox, showing shotgun shells. Right? Got some
receivers out there. Now he's going up top, got it down, feel
good. Catch by Willie Roch Roch down near the 23 yard line, man. Oh man, that was I'll tell
you what a nice play there but Tell him
Cox didn
't get rid of that ball when he did man he had a
280-pound defensive lineman all over him. Yellow Jackets, Mario Walton
picked up the loose football saying it was a fumble. Take a
look at this cocks, get to rid of this in the nick of time.
He's the big guy. Big Anthony MacLeod coming in but it's
neither here. Nor there roach with the catch slam down hard to the surface
that football when they're born after the tackle, but they will rule them down
after the catch at the 22 yard line. And the Gato
rs are in business.
Well, ground cannot cause a fumble. You have a player cab. First, and Ten. Misdirection left side Daniel's with the
carry near the 20 yard line. It's where we get to see this
Thomas County, Yellow Jacket defense hunker down a little
bit. If you read all of the stats and
all of the clippings coming into the Ballgame, would not be a surprise that the
Gators actually scored first in this ball game, absolutely right. It's real indicating early in
the comments of this ballclub for
fire to the contest that
they have to keep it. A low-scoring affair in order to
compete. They've done that dust far. They're about to put the first points of the dog on
the scoreboard, tonight. Second and seven. White looking for some room,
works his way down near the 15. And for the second quarter, we
go, this semifinal matchup Gators of Ware County, facing a
third down and four. At the 16-yard line of the
yellow jackets of Thomas County Central, High School, Cox pitch right side. White
lookin
g for some room. Excellent. Tackling and good
defensive work by the yellow jackets. Absolutely. They're
great penetration by the defensive front. They're
given the opportunity for those linebackers are
running. Make plays this you'll hit by Joseph Laurie, the senior for the Yellowjackets. No, gain on the, play by white current drive by the Gators seven plays 66
yards, three minutes, elapsed off the
clock. And that Gator Drive interesting note here about the
Ware County Gators, the city school an
d the
county school combined in 1994 coming together to the make it,
the team that it is now is that Griffin ought to try the field
goal for the Gators It'll be a 33-yard effort that
would never had a chance. Yellow Jackets, got a good
surge. Looks like Mario Walton, got in and got a handle on it
first and ten for the Yellowjackets. After the
mission field goal by Griffin, Smiley carries, right side? Got
it up to the 22. Tell you what, if this continues
to play into the hands, of what coach? Dan
ragel said, he wanted to keep it
low scoring right now. Of course, no
score after a quarter here. Like think that qualifies? Yes. He knows how explosive that 1 to
10 mm of Williams and smiley can be for the Yellowjackets so
far greater self contained them wealth. Left side option pitch, Smiley
got a block, maybe a bit of instruction. What should up to
the 26-yard line? Will check the flag mentor on the stop for
the Gators. Procedure called against the
yellow jackets. You know, either way this c
all, you have to, you have
to take your hats off to the execution of this Ware
County defense. So, you know, defending the Veer is very
difficult and you have to be very disciplined. And those are
defensive and and linebackers and and corners and defensive backs
for where County, they are right arm and they are doing
exactly what they said they need to do illegal formation six minutes of
scrimmage five-yard penalty. Still second down coach real refers to it as
making sure that there are no
run.
On that line for the Gators
that's why they've done a good job with it. Absolutely you have
to be disciplined when you're playing against the Veer
second down 13 for the yellow jackets and a office. Williams short drop raises fires. Threw
it behind the seat up at the catch made by the last B,
raised Wilson the tight end and Wilson got behind the secondary
up near the for 35 yard line up for the first down. As you take
a look here, you can be so creative in this
offense, is PJ Williams fix the in
side toss. It has a little
pop passed to his tight in there. And again, big hit by the Gators. That beer just draws you in so
much. Concentrating on the Run. We refer to the receiving Corps
some a tag return preparer man, they don't get many caches you
see Wilson would only 3 on the season. All three of them
have combined for only 17, the good job of blocking in
there. Good job of catching the
football as well left side, William slips on the
surface loss of about 2. Again an excellent job by the
defense of for the Gators Ware County Gators there you know
doing exactly what they have to do and make you. That every man
is responsible for his own section of the
field. And when Williams went down the left side
there, he looked not only into the face of the defensive
end but another linebacker was right behind it. Nine minutes and about 15 seconds now
remaining in this first half of football. Second down 11 Rolling. Right side is Wilson,
pumps fires up, fear of got a man, it's Wilson. Once
again,
World some near the 44-yard line. Close to the first down marker. They don't throw it much DJ but
boy, they look good on the several passes. They've
thrown this far. You're
absolutely right. You know, as you'll see
Williams, make a nice fake here, and waggle back to the
opposite side, he has his tight end open, but I'll tell you what
on the election. Next Level Jeremy Miller about
20 yards from where the tight end made that catch
was wide. But yourself, get a good look to
him, to come bac
k to that a little later in the game.
Okay, let's not get greedy. Now, first the Ted, On the ground. They'll keep it at Smiley with the football and
smiley Workshop, near Midfield affectionately known as the
train and you see him coming downhill. He's a he's a stout
gentleman. Tell you what. I, you know, you
look at a guy like that and, you know, it kind of built like
old Joe Riggs there and, you know, running a lot.
You should call him a runaway Coke machine. What are you gonna do with that sec
ond down and 4 after the
pickup by smiling this time we'll just keep it
right side. Jumps over one Defender Works its way down near
the 42, that's enough for the Yellow
Jacket first. Down Cleveland Jackson on the stop for the
Gators, PJ Williams here. You see, he'll
make a great play, but look at all the Defenders around
him there. He's just make, this is a great individual
athletic effort here because you know what? Where
county is the defender. Right where they
need to be. And again, it's goin
g to take an extraordinary
effort and an athlete like that we're kind of keeps playing to
make plays and he plays showed, he was actually down on one
hand. They might keep his balance and support your head
for the first. They throw it up top. Again, this
time, this direction, this is going to be picked off by The
Gamers, Eric Adams on the pick for Ware
County and they get a big break, their good defensive
play. Look like there was somewhat of
a mixed up there. PJ was expecting him to go a little
deeper there but the receiver whatever reason
stop running. Adams on the interception at
7:46 left. First half we step aside, quick timeout, Eric Adams, on the interception
for the Gators and that makes those fans from where County
very happy, they snuffed a drive by the yellow jackets and the Ware County Gators. Take
it back on offense, starting this bribe from Maryland. 16 yard line. Back-to-back region, Champs
Region, 3, second semi-final, the carrots,
and The Last Five Years on the ground,
right? Side is
white. Working. The football
here that first down marker, got it up
there, the 26 yard line, but schieber on the stop for the
Yellowjackets. Nice job by the big fellows up front. Of course white has excellent
witness, but you can see here car Martin Lewis, open that big
hole up front there. Charles, I think you would have
gotten through report. I don't know. The whole have to
do open a lot of, only one white, the junior picked up
eight on the play. Date are settling into a nice
of
fensive Rhythm, as well. Splits at the bottom of your
screen. Cox will roll that way. Dumped
it out in the flats. Threw it, high catch made by Daniel's the
Daniels hit immediately at the line of scrimmage. Mario Walton the first yellow
jacket to lay on and nice reaction by Walton, the
defensive back out here cuz he could have very easily have this
ball Wilcox would have been thrown any higher. It could
have been an interception but great concentration by the
receiver. Third down to four, where C
ounty Cox is pretty comfortable. He's
just two year starter here and I seem to be managing this
offensive. Ly pretty effective. Third down play for the junior
quarterback. Walt showing a blitz for the
Yellowjackets Gators. Keep it on the ground.
White things ahead more than enough for the first down for
the Gators. Again, the offensive line,
getting that surged up front for the Ware County Gators. So they move the chains. Offensive line for the Gators Strickland car, Martin Lewis
statement ahia
the tight, end Cox on job. Hands off up inside.
He's just falling forward. They're really just
bodies. Green body. As you don't even see a white shirt,
you don't 43 yards. Yeah, they're bearing down on the
surface. You take a look at the replay
and film session and next week, that's what you want first down. On the ground. It's white again.
I'll correction Daniels on the carry this time Daniels
past the 40 up to the 42 yard line, and you just sent their this
Georgia Dome, that, that momentum is
favoring the Gators
right now and definitely gonna have to be some adjustments made
by coach Pilcher here for Thomas county is that because
again, you look at this line here and I know that when they drew it up, they didn't
think that the Gators would block them this
way. But man, there's some creases in there that I'm sure
that had been there before it or offense, averages 190
yards per game on the Couple of got an injured. Yellow
Jacket. Looks like Phillip Williams. The
linebacker. Williams a
junior. Todd, for total tackles on the season, to take a look at some of the
scores from throwing a ball games. In class A Wilcox, over
Athens Academy 32:14, and this other single a ball
game. It was clinch County losing to a manual County
Institute, DCI. 35 clinch County, 14. So Emanuel County
advances, first down, From the 42. Cox will keep it rolling right
side, raises fires up Phil through it. Long intended for can hear the tight
end, who was Running the crossing route. That play was defense
very well
by the yellow jackets from Thomas County Central as Cox was sprinting out and she
said, take a look at him sprinting to his right watch out
of the feels. A lot of real estate out there for those guys
to find openings, and it just nobody open Defenders everywhere in every
lane. Ox trying to squeeze it in
downfield, had some real estate in front of them on that
Play-Doh. 2nd down and 10. Misdirection to come back to the
inside, Daniels with the football. Ali drug tackle
Works its way do
wn there. The
35-yard line. Excellent play called by the
gator, coaching staff very nicely executed by the offense.
Take a look at this Winkle here little misdirection Daniel's comes back across finds a crease breaks a tackle explodes into the secondary and of course, a great effort
there by Thomas County linebacker to
stopping there because he would have been Off to the Races the
handles, on the season. Over 700 yards, look at the average
run for carry 7.7 with seven touchdowns First and Ten fr
om the 35 of the
Yellowjackets cocks rolls fires off the flats
pakia, with the catch at the line of scrimmage. Breaks
one tackle after and gets it up near the 48 yard line schieber and won't you combine
on the hit? OK. Oh here. So, he'll made a nice individual
effort out there in the flats. When he course, makes
a tough catch here after the fake Up Inside by Cox and he
delivers the ball, great, catch against his body, breaks,
a tackle. And just uses, this is another
individual effort there to ga
in yards. After the catch, shakes off one Defender, their
breaks another tackle and Falls forward for three more
yards. Second down and two for Ware
County. Current drive, seven, plays 61 yards, three minutes 25 seconds off the
clock. They are doing exactly what they wanted to do
ttj. They are just flattening that football killing the clock,
keeping that score low. If I didn't know any better at
this opportunity equate this to someone of a chess match yet between the
coaches here because I'll ju
st kind of getting taken. What you give me? Right side White. NOW, angles
back to the inside, got enough for the first down. I'm really impressed with this
running back by committee type of office that
they running with the Gators here, where County,
you know, you talk about white, they'll do
just ran that ball. But again, we talked about, you
know, Daniels who's a 44, 40 guy. These guys are all slashers
that real quick, guys and seem to be taking Thomas County Central by storm
here. No question
. The Yellowjackets
are off-balance, first intended for the Gators. With bit left side. I've got some room finally dragged down near this
14-yard line. It was cold Anderson on the caring for the
Gators. Jonathan Lowrie made the
touchdown saving tackle Anderson Work. Sit down inside of the 15. One of his rare carries. Take a
look here. If Old 41, didn't show up in the
picture, but he's in the end zone right now. We talked about running back by
committee this first Gary, that's a big
round cater f
or the Gators. Yeah, almost the first down,
pick up second down, and two, Left side. They go white looking
for room racked up near the 12. Yard line. Coach ragel strategically using
clock and know that he knows that it's tough to go up inside
there. The closer you get into to the goal line. That was enough for the first
down, pick up though. DJ yep. Take a look at coach ragel
there. Nine years, in Ware County. As the head coaches that are
solid job down at where County in that
position, what a m
isery Valley College years as a head coach overall. Coach Riggins asking for timeout
here for his gaiters and he will get it to 35
remaining. In this first half Gators, threatening with the
first antenna. Inside the red zone of the yellow jackets. Good, solid first, half of
football by the Gators, which stood in early storm by the
yellow jackets and settle down very well. Full Slate of football games
coming your way. Tomorrow on GPB, starting at 9:00 in the. Be
the Wolves. Buford meeting the Fig
hting Irish of Dublin
here at the Georgia Dome. That's a double A matchup at 12
p.m. to be the Lions of 11 at 11:00 and to beating the Hornets
of cook who are 10 and 3 on the season. That one coming
your way at 12 p.m. right here on GPB and the winners of those games
will play for the championship. 38 match up at 3:00 p.m. the
syrup makers at 12 and one from Cairo will meet the Trojans of
North Hall, who are undefeated on the season and the weather that one will
play Lake Arbor at the find the 5
a.m. Jeff, that'll be the
Walton. Raiders versus the Bulldogs of North Gwinnett.
That one at 6 p.m. and then we'll have Lowndes and Camden County coming it up.
Finishing it up at 9:00 p.m. tomorrow night on the reverse
couple on the field. It's covered by the gator Zone near
the 20, yard line. Try the reverse air DJ along,
almost lost a football. Yeah, got away from roach there
man and I tell you what, I almost was a costly turnover
there. We take a look at it trying to hand off. To roast there
. Zach airs falling on it for the
Gators and get the football back. Lose some yardage on it at
second and 17 now, but you got to like the decision there.
Couldn't count. Definitely catching Thomas County
off-balance just didn't execute. Except receivers top of your
screen. Cox fix that way. Down the
handoff and goes very by bowls are Daniels with a
football, Daniels down near the 15. You have to love the Poise of The Gators quarterback, Dusty
Cox, doing a great job. All faking
and executing here
on this limb. Some of the misdirection,
some of the play. Fakes Third down and 14 coming now DJ a minute 28 clock. Running Gators can get a first down down
near the 3-yard line car. These are thinking about
preserving that opportunity for the field goal though as well.
Cox has been an effective passage over 1,300 yards and 13
touchdowns to his credit what the snap fires out in the
flats. Got the pass complete, the ropes ropes with some room.
What's it down to the corner? Bounced out of bounds n
ear the
seven? Autry, Oz them out of bounds for
the Yellowjackets and it's decision time. Now for coach or Hegel and the
Gators tell you what? I was definitely impressed with that
burst after roach caught that pass. You see the Cox gets it to
him really quick and watch this verse explodes for the extra yard is there Audrey push them all appear to be settling are on the
field goal attempt here. And indeed, they will Griffin will kick it, real 24-yard effort for Ware
County. Daniel's to hold. Well
within Griffin's range. Got
it up. The left for the kicker. Did he drive it
through? Yes he does. Caterers break the story, ice here and
the semi-final football game. I think it's safe to say that culture, a goal and his Gators
have controlled the tempo here for the better part of the last
3-4 minutes with the great drive here to end
up with the field goal. Zach Griffin on the fills, all the 24-yard effort and the Freshman looking very
relieved. That he hit that one. He puts the Gators on the
s
coreboard, they made it 3. Nothing under a minute remaining
first half. From behind the offense Griffin. No problem on it and plenty of room there,
probably from another 15 yards or so indeed your I could have
been good tendency of the left for the kicker so that fall to
kind of draw a little bit, kind of like your golf shot. I was
just about to say kind of like it once you know, the why you've
come out of which is what your 7-iron, you have a bunch of continue to
go, just a magnet in the woods
with
your on your golf ball. The Gators leading at three nothing. These teams played in the same
region for several years. 2000 to 2005 is a part of that
region. Make up to play four times. They split those games to each shouldn't scoring drive by the Gators, 14
plays, 81 yards, six minutes and 48 seconds. DJ for. They got
to be happy about that. Yes, ball control. That's the
name of the game and the low scoring Affair like this three
nothing. And I know the coach Ray go has to be happy
right no
w. How do you stop? Dear. Don't let it get on the
field, deep kick and the yellow jackets will have
to settle for the Touchback start from the 20. And, you know, you know, you're
right, when you do you say, don't let me, let the Veer get
on the field, but you still have to be really, really proud
of the defensive execution. Again, we talked about being
disciplined in their Defenders of being the gator, Defenders being where they
needed to be because, you know, Williams and smiley
are explosive w
eapons. And these guys have
been pretty much null and void thus far less than a minute remains in
this first half will see how the Yellow Jackets play it.
Well, they sit and settle for the three-point deficit. Williams rolls right side, tires out in the flats pass.
Incomplete intended. Downfield for Malcolm Walton. But thrown out of bounds by
wounds. Take a look at Williams rolling
to his right there. And just a little off noticed a little earlier. He had
a receiver open. He was just a little ov
er a over a
little Overbearing there on his own,
his tossing. And I don't know if that he's throwing off his
back foot or get his shoulders Square. Just the energetics are
excitement of his Georgia Dome. They run the same player only
right side this time. You'll try to keep him Williams up to
the 25. Finally Runs Out of Bounds near the 26, yard line. Daniel shoved him out for the
Gators. Take a look down the sorry. He
did take a little look at Williams
here again. He's explosive when he has the
ball in his hands and
he's running, tell you what, if he comes up
with a way to straighten out that
whatever is going on with his passing Game Boy, that's good.
They're in for a lot of trouble in the second half. Smiley the parts, the football game,
limping off for the Yellowjackets. That could be a big problem for
the Yellowjackets, but try to get a check on that to see
exactly what that condition is. That's a big chunk of offense
for Thomas County Central, third down and three for
Williams and
the rest of the yellow jackets will keep it
himself. He's got enough for the first down chased out of
Bounds at the 42 Yard Line. 39 seconds remaining and just
when the train limps off the field, Here Comes Williams right back up for a nice game. It's guy's no joke, over 1700
yards himself on the ground that one-two punch without
Smiley's impact right now. But Williams trying to carry the rest of this
first half on the shoulders, Rolling left side, fires a
bullet out of the corner. Pass incompl
ete though, intended for
Rawls are Miller that is but Miller can't hang on to it.
That was a nicely thrown ball, very good looking. Absolutely.
And I do, you know, you talk about, you know, some of the
throws he made but that was one there. That certainly when his
fault because he got his shoulders Square, threw off his front foot and of course got the ball where
he needed to get the just didn't come up with the catch,
Bella realizes He's the caught that football second down and 10 after the err
ant pass. 32 seconds remaining. Yellow Jackets, trying to answer
that field goal by the Gators to bring it even at
halftime. If not lead, it Williams rolling left side. Now
fires you dumped it out in the flats, Rawls made the catch, Eric Adams
introduced himself, very harshly, ladies and gentlemen, boys and
girls. That's the way you do it. Text book style open field
and its finest open field, tackling take a look here. Of course, PJ avoiding the rush Dairy and
getting the ball out to his receive
r and watch
this play. Exploding didn't stop running.
Just ran right through him. That's the way it's done. It's not for the faint of heart Adams, with the crushing hit,
and the Gator, fans like that. That'll be on his highlight
reel, third, down and six. 22 seconds remaining, in this
first half. The momentum is still with in my
in my opinion is still with Ware County. I mean of course with dominating
hence like that horse, getting the score here
and I think just being in the game and leading ri
ght now
at this point in the game, I got really good at halftime. Football at the 46 yard line. Oppenheim the kicker for the Yellowjackets has fairly
good range as hit from as far as 40 yards away. I've got to put them together to
get a few more first downs and make that even a possibility for Oppenheimer rolling, his
camera. Now toward the sideline, fires
coming back to the castle nicely done by Malcolm Walton. Tilton to the 41, whatever it
was that was going on with Williams earlier, he's fixe
d it
because he's getting the ball in an area where his receivers
can make plays for he'll roll to his right. Giving his receivers time to get
into the open air, of course, fighting fending off a
Defender. Of course, getting the ball down where only his
received can catch it. Check that Stefan. I took a little more time to throw at
what I looked like. What you used to do back in high school. first in ten years that that's stiff on that
you're talking about, That's you know what? That's
actually
it's a skill and then you just you don't, you don't
just you're not born. I mean that's something that you you
just don't learn that. That's just a field. That's a field all the way I
know that you don't realize that
you're stopping a guy but to stick it up in the nick of time
that you do, keeping people away from you. And you know
what, that's one of the best offensive weapons you can have
as a runner, excellent point. Kicker for the Yellowjackets,
chat up and Chandra oppenheim, hopefully he ha
s a chance to
close this first half of the field goal opportunity for
the Yellowjackets. 12 seconds remains in this first
half. Well, let's quickly get to get
it down to about 225 at least to give him a halfway, decent shot at a field
goal. Kicker First and Ten Williams, surveys Fires at the
corner. Lot of traffic over there. They rule, the catch incomplete. It's intended for Lark it at the
sidelines, just in front of the Gator bench. He might have been out of bounds
but he went out of bounds by
much there. I'll tell
you what. There was a lot of zip on that pass as Williams was
able to get it out there. so now the six seconds, Yellow. Jack is likely with only
one player remaining. Williams looking fires, got a
man on the cross. The rocket hit immediately, lost the
football. Catch was made by Walton, but Walter was racked
up. Hard near the 24 and coughed it up. Sorry. And the Gators believe it's the
end of this first half. They're headed toward the locker room
and that is the signal fro
m the official to catch was made
by Walton. But he fumbled, at the end of that play was covered
by the Gators. So the yellow jackets, Don't get the field goal
opportunity and they miss on that final play. So the Gators after all is said and done. They
lead it 3, nothing. In this first half of football. And a very solid effort by the
gator to just take control of this football game. You gotta
like it, you gotta like it and I know coach wriggle is feeling
good. John Nelson standing by with a
coach
and a lie. Got a quick drink of water. You
got your wish you going to low-scoring game. Yeah, well
that it has to be for us to have a chance. We need a
low-scoring game. So right now things are working
well for now defensively, you're putting seven eight, nine
in the box right now. You're doing a good job stopping
the beer for Thomas County Central. Well, we got to, I mean, we absolutely have to.
They got too many skilled. People too many guys that can
take it. The distance. Oh, we got to pack
that middle and hope
like crazy. We tackled, can Wrangle. Thanks for your
time. He's got the only score on the board where County up. Three nothing as we head to the
halfback. If we are back live, at the Georgia Dome at the
intermission, the Ware County Gators leading the yellow
jackets of Thomas County Central 3. Nothing at the half
time. A good first half of football.
The right now fans being entertained by the
Thomas County, Central band and known as the Yellow Jacket
band. The Best of The Ne
st 160 members directed by see Michael
mayhaw drum, major small college and Adrian Barnes
performance. Tonight's a jazz show including selection Spain and blooms in the night and we'll go down and take a
listen. The best of the nest, the commas
County, Central marching band, John Nelson, standing by,
with director, see, Michael may all John here, when p man, who gives the test for the
best of the nest. Michael male. What's it like, coming down here
to the Dome, so it's a great experience for the
kids.
We love it. They have a great time. Every time we get a chance
to come and go do such a great job with a, showing this ham times on TV. We
have a great time now behind us playing cymbals. A
very, very special guy. Tell me a little bit about way mr.
Way, thanks, we love him then. Doing a great. He does a great
job of the symbols. We think he's a wonderful wonderful young
man. Now, when you do jazz and blues
numbers, it's not stuff that they
necessarily will have on their iPod or MP3 player
when you do.
So what's it like telling them that they're going to do jazz
and blues? Well you know I guess it's just something
innate about that style because you know kids just kind of
rotating revolve to the style. It's something that really is
not hard to teach at all. They really get with it and that's
top. So it's like of preparation been
week to get everybody here for the Dome. What's it been
like? Well it's been Very, very hectic because you know, bands
this time of year doing Christmas
parades and Christmas
concerts and all sorts of programs. But we're let we're glad to be here and
we've just been working day every day to do the best we can
like, now thanks for your time, welcome back to the Dome, let's
send it back upstairs, one down, one to go and we are back live at the Georgia Dome at the
halftime. The Gators aware County leading the yellow
jackets of Thomas County Central Curry. Nothing at the
break and we are being entertained down at field level
by the Golden Gate herb
and of Ware County High School directed
by Daniel Byrd. Drum major, Sheree Williams and
Alessa Krug. Tonight's performance, they take
us South of the Border in Latin. He lets go down the
lesson. Gator, bad continuing to perform
our John Nelson standing by with the director,
Daniel Byrd. Nellie here with Daniel, Hardman director. Let's
talk about this band, a great storied history and you've got
legacies and second generations going on out here tonight. Oh yeah, there's
1939, where one of the fir
st bad, bargain from George's dark,
competitively, been making Superior since back
in the 30s and the first competition in the
state of Georgia. And The first three schools that
have a major Band program going on, a lots of things have
been happening in Waycross for a long time. Now, also, you wanted to say
something on behalf of Ware County High School in the people
of Waycross? Yeah. Last spring I don't think the state
of Georgia has any clue about how bad it really? Was. We missed like 13 to
15 days of
school. It was no smoke in the school's.
You couldn't see from from down one Hall from time to
time. Anyway, on behalf of all the people from where Anyway, cross the, the
firefighters and everybody forestry, we want to thank the entire
state for coming to our rescue because it really was bad. I
look at the back door of the high school and saw the
forest fire one, or the first
two or three days there. It was bad. Daniel Byrd. Thanks for making
it up here to the dump. Thanks for your ti
me here. Thank you.
Let's send it back upstairs for more. Take a John 3. Nothing at
the intermission. DJ good. First half of football. We got
some of the highlights from their first half. And again you don't want what
you want to say here. Is that I think that we're County
definitely set the tempo, execution is the name of the
game on defense here when you're defending the Via, they
look at all those hats around the ball and again they got a
good completion there, but again hats coming to the ba
ll to make it plays and that hit
right there. By Vic, Eric Adams was great, then he
gets an interception. This kid is having a hellacious
day on defense and then we get the
24 yard field goal, which brings us to the halftime
score of three to nothing. It's a crescent. Converting from 24
yards out in a thankful that Griffin a few converts on the
three-point effort for the Gators first half stats fairly well, even as it relates
to some of the categories of
rushing yards passing yards fairly even 5
7 for the
Yellowjackets, 54 the Gators. But the real difference is
coming on the ground. The yellow jackets. 95 Gators at 32 will take a step to stopping the
Thomas from a halftime stats, will come back to those
with John Nelson standing by with coach of the other. Valley really quickly coach
Pilcher. Let's first talk about jibrail. How's the ankle? We'll wait and see where you
going to try to go but I don't know right now. We're going to
give it to World anyway and also defensively. Where's
put
ting seven eight, nine in the boxer. Pretty much keeping
the beer in check right now. We got we got to do some play
action pass, no doubt about that, but we moved the ball
right foot half, go in the ball. So we're going to do
some things. We got to move the
ball better first half and I think we
will. Thanks coach. Thanks for your time. We'll send it back
upstairs from. We are back at the start of the
third quarter, instigators of Ware County, three, Yellow
jackets, have Thomas County Central, no
thing first half of football. Favoring
the gators gators will have it on offense to start this third
quarter, biggest prop play in this first half comes on this
play for the Yellowjackets, see the Braille Smiley trying to
conduct a block for PJ Williams and just got his ankle
turned up inside on that block. And the question is, there's
things going to go in the second half but how
effectively be Yellow Jackets.
Well, you know, he's a big tough guy and
now getting I know that if he can play, he's
gonna play
because obviously you know what, if they're don't win
tonight, they don't play anymore. So I'm sure he'll go long enough to
see if he can be effective and if he can help his team, take a look at the Braille,
Smiley at that yellow jacket, sideline. Let's look at the senior running
back for the Yellowjackets defense is going to answer
first, though, you heard coach culture talking about it with
John Nelson coming back after the break that they've got a
mix-up that offense a little bit
recognizing that the Gate of
Defense has done a good job of shutting them down at the line of scrimmage Gators. Daniel's Derek Daniels on the
return for where County got it up near the 17, 18 yard line and
bounced Hard Out of Bounds. The Gators will come on offense
to start from there. All those War, DJ Jones. John
Nelson, glad you can join us on GPB for
this semi-final match up. Although there was not a great
deal of offensive production. In the first half. I you had to
have been impressed with
, again, the running backs by
Committee of for Ware County and they were
LED, of course by Vic Daniels. He was one of the guys
that many the set, the tempo on the
offensive side, for the Gators and a variety of running back
softening up that defense allows cocks to go five or seven
in that first half for the 50-yard. Art, but you just saw on the
screen. So once that run is effective for the Gators to pass
starts to work as well, White's on the carry for the
Gators, got it up past, 220 near the 2
3 yard line. Coach Pilcher, testing the
waters. If you will very much like he did in the
early goings to see what the Thomas County Central
defense would give him up front second down and six. Beatrice white on the previous
Carrie. Slot at the top of the screen. For the Gators Cox on the ground. Gives it to
Daniel's goes back to the inside. That's enough for a
gator first down near the 30. Once again, they're moving the
chains and they're rolling, those running backs in and out
of there. Another
ball another Ball
Carrier. There does, that was different from The first one there gets up with
a little a little gimpy but he's going to go back into
the game and it was coming up holding that left calf muscle. And now he gets the substitution
in the lineup. It's to be okay. Coming to the sideline. I will make it first and 10
after the carry though. Just under way in the third
quarter. That side white with the carry, got it up near the 32-yard line,
perhaps the 33 Davis. Make diamond was a one
of the hats on that play for
Thomas County Central. Pick up a 3 on, the Run by
white. Watch them a 55. Coming up until
your picture there in third up. Almost caused a fumble there
boy. Shook it loose. Cleveland Jackson was a lead
blocker for the Gators on that play. And another Gator coming
up hobbled after the plays dimitra's. Why? So Daniels goes
out on the previous play White gets inserted in line up
at his place, he comes out Hopper and I just roll it in
another couple of guys Lander some o
ur correction Cox
in the backfield. The second down and seven. Fix it on the line rolls right?
Sides fires through it. Hi Patrick,
good defensive effort by shaver for the Yellowjackets. Very athletic play there by shy
but looks like he's limping. Their heads has tape on his
calf, but just a great athletic play before Defender going in coverage. Get
up to the highest point, breaking that pass up because
that could have been a huge game for the Ware County Gators, third down and seven instead, tit
tle Three remaining third
quarter. However, exciting days. Yellow
Jackets fans to give him a little support to get that 12-man involved. Third and seven for the Gators
cocks play. Fakes fires of the flat
catch made ahia short of the first down Barnett about. Richard client was the first
defender on to get his hat on the ball. So the yellowjacket defense is
held And that's what's going to take
its gonna take a shot in the arm to get that momentum
back. I think it was safe to say
that we're County
, had it. Anderson to putt. Now for the
Gators, PJ Williams will stand near the 39-yard line to receive
the offering. Line Drive, kick filled up by
Williams at the 40 out of bounds near the 41. Early on, we were talking about
PJ Williams. Of course, you saw him there just return the punt,
but, you know, he's the starting quarterback. He's
caught it on the corner. He was returning, punts. I felt early on it was going to
be real key here in the second. Half to see his. How his help
him playing on
both sides of the ball. How effective he would be here
in the second half and I still think that it's going to be up to him if
he's going to get this team turned around. First and Ten for the
Yellowjackets, first half effort by Williams, five of the
10 / 57 yards on the ground, six carries for
33 yards. He'll keep it left side, works it back to the interior
may have gotten the yard. Smiley known as bleep present in
that yellow jacket lineup. He's a tough guy and I know that he wants to be in the
re in the worst way. No, gain on the play by
Williams. There was a flag but they waved that off first possession of the second
half for the Yellowjackets. Left side. They come option,
band behind Williams pissed too. Smiley smiley racked up at
the 49 yard line but close to the first down marker. Cole
Anderson did a great job of coming up taking on Smiley. He's huge. But again you
see there obviously he's effective was able to take a
picture but what you see the difference on that play and
what y
ou saw in the first half, the execution of the We're County. No pitchman here on smiling, he's just running free. Got to make an adjustment where
accounting has to get back to playing the kind of defense that
they were playing in the first half. That's a first
down. Pick up by smiling short drop by Williams going up,
top got a man free. Pass it a bit long there out of his
reach. Anthony McCloud was free for the
Yellowjackets wide open but Williams just through the
past D. Actually, Michael Adams
was the
Run running down the field there. And again, you know, this
is second time that PJ has overthrown his deep guy there. And again, he
just has to settle down. I think that, you know, we saw
him get straightened out those mechanics there towards the end
of the first half, and I know that he'll take that one back and we'll look for him to take advantage of it when he
runs free again, second down and 10. No question about it. Adams was
wide open. On the ground. They come. They
give it to smi
ley. Smiley likes a head up to the 40 inside the
40 down in the 39, yard line. A cock on the stop for the
Gators. You gotta love Smiley. Of course, you going out with
the gimpy ankle in the first half and again, he's coming back running
downhill. This guy's not going to be the
all-time leading ground Gainer and Thomas County Central
history, because he's gonna let a little
anchor injury, stop it. Third down, and two. They go again. This time,
William to keep it following, the hole created by Smi
ley got
enough for that yellow jacket first, down nice play by PJ Williams diving forward for
the first down. 8:27 remains in this third
quarter, you almost feel a little sense
of urgency for Thomas County Central here. There is just
seems like the, you know, the momentum is starting to
shift a little bit and they have a little bit more aggression in their tank if you
will line of scrimmage. 235 other
Gators. Williams got to pitch it. Rawls the second man on the
pitch. Got it near the 33-yard. L
ine pick up three on the play.
Nice play by ear, got him. He's already had a huge first half.
But again, coming in on contain from the corner. Really minimizing the potential
for that plate because that was, the could have been a big
play. You'll see here on the corner there, after Ralph
takes the picture Adams comes in
and makes the play. Not only does it
keep contain, but he makes the play Adams had to pick first half for
the Gators on the That therefore we're counting that young man has had a
heck of
a defensive day, second down and eight. Left side, they come Williams cuts it up. Feel pain. Once now
can't buy the Gators behind the line of scrimmage push back
there than 35 yard line. And Drew a cock leading that
surge or wall of green and Williams is down after the
play. Wow, that's not a good sign. But once again, you have to be
impressed with all the green hats running to the football and
that's what was made the defense for. But we're County so
successful in the first half. You k
now, everybody running to
the football, PJ takes the snap their Bob a little bit, but he
takes it up inside gets hit breaks that tackle and look at those green hats
coming. There you see, at the end of
that play, the left me kind of buckled under the pressure of
the two or three Defenders on top of them. Tell you, one thing, you think
smileys 7:05 remaining in this third
quarter while they check out PJ Williams will step aside from
the Georgia Dome Williams able to run off the field under his
ow
n power for the Yellowjackets, that's a good
sign. Gator still leading it 3,
nothing but the yellow jackets with the football facing a third down and seven at
the 32 yard line of the Gators. New quarterback is Taylor pain for the Yellowjackets. Kayla Junior. And pain will take the shot drop
to trying to set the screen left side to get it
to smiley. Smiley hit once
denies that blocker and worked his way
down near the 27-yard line about a yard shy of the first
down marker. If you notice in that pl
ay that smiling made an athletic move
there, he had to leak and get the pass from his quarterback. Taylor, watch him get up, get down, doesn't seem to have the ankle
in seem to be bothering me at all. Smiley just exploded the first
would-be tackler Erica. Adams. You remember that runaway Coke
machine? I was telling you about the president Gator fans looking for a stop and a timeout taken on the
field. First by the yellow jackets and Thomas County
Central fourth down and one for the Yellowjackets
appear to
be going for it momentum. No question seeming to favor the
yellow jackets. At this point, the fans tried to exhort them on
a big fourth of the one situation coming for them. Special. Thanks all of us at GPB want to express our thanks to
the ija. Rosenberg ahead staff at score Atlanta for the
excellent free stolen coverage of all of our games this weekend
at the Georgia Dome. Excellent newspaper in terms of
sporting events Fourth and one. Now, Williams back on the field,
trying to keep
it in. Stick It ahead for the first down and
looks like he's got enough. So they sneak Williams back into
the lineup and Williams snakes to the head for the
first. All you can say, is tough this there. You know, you
got lumps off the field. They're after you, what was an
apparent hyperextension of his knee, but
he's just back on the field to help his team. Get a first down. I was following the block of Center, Steven Powell. A lot has to be said about these
two seniors and smiley and Williams.
Playing with Nicks and bruises.
That's what the good ones do. First and Ten, now, from the 25
left side, short side of the field, William steps it on
the inside, down to the 10, push down at the eight. Maybe the 7
yard line, Boyd knocked him down but a good
run by Williams. Never missed a beat to plays ago limped off, but
back on the field in rare form. Watching make this guy miss here
up dumps up inside. Tell you those are the Good Feet
that we were talking about early. In the pregame, The Talk
Amongst the coaching staff at Ware County. Picking your
poison. Do you want to die by Williams? Our dad, by smiling there. Adam stepped in and took
the try to take the picture away from Williams. He politely
turned it up for the first down. Now, they go right side.
Smiley banging ahead right side didn't get in. Go there barking short of the
goal line down at the half yard line. Boy, what second and third
effort is by Somali. They are taking and basically pushing the Defenders from the Gators to
wards the goal line. Gets the handoff and Williams up
inside. He gets one contact there and he's still moving.
Second three. That's three players on and three Defenders
on him and he's still moving forward. Cleveland
Jackson the leading tackler for the Gators tried to stop him,
but he couldn't, and on the second play from scrimmage,
they go in for the touchdown, but there's a flag far side of
the field. Smiley carried it in for the
touchdown. Look at it, move that pile. We'll check out the flag.
Officiating crew has done a good
job at the football game tonight. Absolutely. Play coming from the half-yard
line. However, this this drive-ins is
very impressive here by the offensive. The yellow
jackets. We have a live ball substitution
on the defense. There you get the call. So, the yellow jackets will have
to reset from the line of scrimmage. Further explanation. Here we
have a live ball illegal substitution on the defense. The touchdown is good. The
penalty remains straight on the kickoff
. So the touchdown is ruled good. And the yellow jackets. Take the
lead for the first time in the Ballgame. So you on that whole drive, just
a great great effort by the quarterback PJ Williams and
his big tail back. Smiley Chandler oppenheim. Now, on the
try, the point after One of the most interesting
personalities on this yellow jacket team. Oppenheim makes it a 7-3 lead
for the Yellowjackets of Thomas County Central. Down low on the replay right
side. Smiley just banging ahead way too close t
o deny him, a
half yard 11-play 59-yard drive by the
yellow jackets. Four minutes 39 seconds used up capitalized on that one yard run
by the Braille smile, very impressive drive by Thomas
County Central Smiley. Did it only 66 yards, coming into
tonight's ballgame That seems that single-season,
rushing record held by, Joe Burns. Way back in 1997. He
should have it by now Shinee. What do we know which? We just
denounces 76-73, your score are for the
touchdown. Run an extra point by oppenheim earli
er game. We
will see results from the Georgia Dome. It was Wilcox.
County advancing with a win over Athens Academy 3214. Another single, a matchup clinch
County losses to ECI, 3514. So, that sale a matchup is
set for the finals. It was Jam, Lee, losing the
Carver 26. Or really good ballgame here
from the Georgia Dome in the 38 and another for a matchup just
prior to this when it was North Side, winning a squeaker by the tie over the Tigers of
Tucker. 31 to 28 that to a great ballgame here on GPB
.
And we have the makings of one
here in this nightcap in the
semi-final ball game between the yellow jackets and the
Gators. I like to take an opportunity to
give a special congratulations to coach Dale
McGee with the Carver Tigers down. I'm around my neck of the
woods. My old high school I can't believe. You waited this
long to get it. Deep kick. Adams was deep, but it'll go
back and touch with a touch back for the Gators of come back
from the 20-yard line. That was really a good football
game
. All I'm gonna have the day been today on Georgia
Public Broadcasting The Yellowjackets enjoying their
first lead of this ballgame 507 remaining in the
third quarter, Dustin Cox and the Gators coming
back to try to answer that touchdown by the Yellow
Jacket. Cox has done a really good job managing this offense
from, We're counting again. He's just a Smooth Operator, they start for their 20. Option. Right side picture, man
is Daniel's, Daniel's tries to cut it back to the inside, but
the surge i
s heavy by the yellow jackets. Great execution, by the Thomas
County Central defense there as the pursuit angles were taken correctly by all involved. If you take a
look at this play, and look at those Defenders
coming up and those golden helmets surrounding the football. Injured, yellow jacket on the
play. The white Williams going to the
Yellow Jacket sideline, second down loss of a yard on
the previous play 11 for the Gators the first
down. Yellow Jacket players trying to
get the fans into it
even more on the ground. Left side Daniels
finds a streak and got it up near the 24-yard
line. Jonathan Lowrie on the stop for
the Yellowjackets. Good to see Daniels back in the
Ballgame. Do he was a little gimpy a little earlier but he's
back on the field. Taking the handoff up inside
running between the tackles. Get a nice surge, two holes that
it could have chosen from their yes. Third down and six. Cox with the snap looking left,
fires, a bullet, catch laying there. The 30-yard line here on
the grab, and close to the first down marker for where
County. Impressive play by the
quarterback, their cocks.
They're standing in the pocket and completing the pass. Junior JJ could hear the tight
end for the up Gators. It's done a fine job, a couple of big
catches in that first half. Another one here enough for the first down. On the ground left side. Derek Daniels on the carry for
the Gators. Got it up to the 31. Good tough defense up front
there by Williams Lowry and heard on that. Right
si
de of the Thomas County, Central defensive line profile Derek Daniels, in our
pregame show plays both ways for the Gators one of the linebackers and doing
a good job offensively running the football as well. Second down and nine. Cox do step in, take a timeout, came to the lineup. Apparently
didn't like to set two minutes. 54 seconds left in
the third quarter 7-3 lead by the yellow jackets. We caught up with coach Ed
Pilcher prior to this ballgame to get his thoughts about what's
special, about
this year's version of the
yellowjacket. Well, this Bunch, especially the
senior Bunch, they've had some success all the way through
is a in the middle school and there's some good football
players in there and they were very good as ninth graders and a
lot of them actually started as sophomores and they've just stuck together.
They're very talented, they're very
competitive, you know, they just they've got
a lot going for him right now. They really do and this one thing We've talked
about them
is, you know, we've had some some good teams in the
past and this is a team right here that they have a chance to make their
own Mark and establish their own legacy for the speed.
So it's been a, it's been a pretty
good bunch to work with. It's culture head coach of the
Yellowjackets 17th season on the ground. Our correction
pay action right side. Cocks raises Fires at the corner past
those incomplete intended for Willie roach, but thrown High. Diver on the coverage for the
Yellowjackets. Anothe
r one of those plays where the
quarterback has to get his shoulders square up field and
you'll see Cox rolling to his right gets the and then quite
get those shoulders square and that's a tough pass to throw
but you got to you got to get your shoulders
Square Roche, had a look at it. Third down and nine after the
incomplete pass thrown a little hotter but
through the hands of roach, yeah, PCC cheerleaders. Yellowjackets leading it, caters with the football. Cock
surveys, going up. Top got some
s
eparation, but through it
along. Adam, and streaking, you got to like the call. You gotta like to call head and
going vertical, the whole game. And again, at some point in time,
you just got to Unleash Your see here, cocks back, comfortable in the
pocket. Getting a little air up under it, just a little bit. Longer than it should be. But
you know what, it's good to keep the defense on their toes.
Intended for Antonio bolts, down field. That'll make it fourth down now,
Gators to have to punt it Co
le Anderson set to do that. PJ Williams, still back in
receiving. He is what you're calling and
I'm talking about PJ, he's considered an Iron Man, a true
Iron Man offense defense. Special teams sir. Line Drive kick by Anderson Williams back cuddles, and calls
the fair Catch and catches it over the shoulder.
Can you say say, hey, Blacks coming in before this
play gets off from the line of scrimmage. Yellow Jackets, may have had too
many out there. Either that or he might have
jumped a little soon
prior to the snap false. Start
on the offense, I'll yield to you. The movement at the line of
scrimmage by the yellow jackets. Quick reminder for you fans with
friends and relatives outside Georgia. This game is
available live via the GPB website at www.ge.com backslash football. Now all the reverse here come
know of the Yellowjackets the paying the good coverage by
the Gators to cover ground on the backside Pursuit. As lock and catches up with the
play and makes the stop, that's that disciplin
e. I'm
talking about staying at home and taking care of your
business. You die trying to be the star. You just basically
taking care of your responsibility and your
assignments on defense, a little misdirection didn't fool everybody. Of
course, you see the containment there was not
broken and you just make plays. You
just make tackles Brandon Larkin on the carry for
the Yellowjackets and Laurie on the stop for the Gators rolling, right side will Raises fires turning pass,
incomplete. Threw it be
hind Malcolm Walton and Defender for the Gators.
Took his eyes off. It may have had to pick. One thing is for sure. We've
certainly seen the Ware County Defense Force, Thomas County
Central to throw a lot more than they have all year long.
Excellent point your head coach Pilcher, talking about that
coming. After the break true to his word, they're trying
to open it up a little bit. Third down and long for the
Yellowjackets, conversions on the night. 50% for Thomas County, Central,
four of eight.
Here comes a big one here out on the flats. They
doubled the smiley smiley, or the line of scrimmage. What a play by David measure. Now. That's making a good
tackle. An open field on a big strong running back. We have
seen one or two in this ballgame where smile. He's been
in the same situation, not to be the Adam pull down in that situation. Great play. Take a look at it again here. PJ
hits his big fullback in the flats over there but nice tackle out there in open field that's what you want to
do. You
want to get Smiley in that type situation but that time the
Gators and Mentor played it very well fourth down and 13. So the yellow jackets will put
it away. Pressure at the line by the
Gators. I don't know how they miss that football fair catch
called for by Daniel's at the 40-yard line the Gators were
coming. They had a man right on top of it. Just missed the
block, JJ key, high was the one that
almost blocked that I didn't for the Gators. Okay, he had great job, catching
the football
, but they're just missed the block. That was
my Southern accent that making that pronunciation JJ key, huh? Let's go here. Okay, I got you, we'll just have some chicken, a first in 10, for the Gators short hitch. Pass. near the flat
sketch, made by Wilkins, Wilkins fights it up there, the
46 yard line I tell you but you know you know
he just when you take a look at this
past Cox just exudes confidence, there you can tell
he's poised the against delivers, the ball to his
receiver there. It's a g
reat game here and gets an opportunity to get some good yardage Larkin on
the stop for the Yellowjackets, but not until the Gators picked up seven on that
first down play. Make it second and three. Cox has done a fine job of navigating this Gator offense. On the ground, left side with
the carry is Derek Daniels near Midfield. Close to the first down marker. I need to get it right to the
mid stride for the first down it looks like he's going to be
just a little bit shy and that will bring us to t
he end of this
third quarter. Back inside the cavernous Georgia Dome. It's a 7-3 lead for the Yellowjackets of Thomas
County Central Our kids from Kusa high school,
shooting that video outside, the Georgia Dome here, and
Atlanta and Gary peacock. Of course, I videographer leading
those kids from Cusco high school. They do a great job
every year this one, no exception with great shots for the Christmas
season. Thanks to those guys from Kusa and to Gary peacock.
For that, as we start the fourth, f
irst down, pick up
by the Gators, they are at the
46 yard line. And Thomas County
Central impressive, run by Derek Daniels, they're running between the tackles to
get the first down for Ware County. Total yards on the evening, Thomas, County Central, almost
doubling. We're counting to 10 to 111. Gators not far behind on the
scoreboard shotgun cocks. He'll keep it from the loudest good
behind the line of scrimmage. Excellent, defensive surge by
Anthony McLeod. Coming from the backside of that pla
y. McLeod had some pressures early,
man and I tell you, he's a load coming off. The edge was successful in his pursuit to make the big play every
possession. Now, DJ very important. Such a close
ballgame. Yes, Gators on the yellow, second
jacket side of the football field. Trailing by four. Tripp receivers at the bottom of
your screen. Cox surveys fires throughout the to defend.
The pass goes incomplete, had Crist. Arbor out there as a
receiver. Now, we've been talking about
Cox in his ability t
o manage the team and perform well
tonight, you can see a nice crisp past here. He has a nice
arm on it, got to come up with those plays. Harbor had to just slightly
further football but very catchable, down the less third
down 10. Just turn away in the fourth cock rolling to his left. Now, going up, feel got some
separation. Catch me on the flocking here, that's down my buddy. Come here. How about
that? Here with a fine first half of
catching once again. Excellent execution
by the quarterback C
ox Dustin Cox. He has some 1,300
yards that he passed away. This year, 13 touchdowns on the
season and here's another one, is going to that total a beautifully placed ball to Castilla 46-yard, touchdown strike Zach
Griffin on now to try to pull in there. After to heal with a
good first half of catches for the Gators and their this second
half, probably his biggest catch of the night. That's fine. Gators regain the lead trying to
add to it breakfast. The first the point after Gators 10, yellow ja
ckets, 7 we took another look at that
touchdown pass. As Cox gets his feet set, gets a little are up
on a nice touch and can hear runs right up under
it and on to pay dirt. Tell you what's that? This game
is follow suit the last two games, or excellent games. And
I'll tell you what. We're gonna have a fine finish here. The hill behind the coverage of
the yellow jackets. And that drive by the Gators of seven, plays 60 yards, three
minutes and 47 seconds. 46-yard touchdown reception
back, the heel
gives the Gators
at Edge again over the yellow
jackets by three. As I look at your heel on the
bench there, all of his buddies,
congratulating them. Sitting next to his quarterback. Why should this one? Be no
exception. All day long. The games have
been good? Yeah, most here at the Georgia Dome. The winner of this contest
meets. The Eagles of March side, Warner Robins in the championship next
weekend. They're happy and some Thomas County, Central.
Hey, got it easy, man. You know, those guys tha
t pain
up and go out in the elements in the cold weather this time of
year, these guys are in the nice control climate of the Dome. So you know what? It's fun. But it's got to be those other guys
that go outside. Have to be a little bit guy. I agree with
you. Gators to kick. Malaysian King will kick it away. Quibbler by King out of bounds near the 30 yard line. Sure if that's what the intended
to do on that kick DJ, I think he missed hit it. I'm
sure you wanted to swim it down the middle. I know
he wasn't
trying to kick it out of bounds. Quit kicking, fractions on the 35 yard line. First, Yellow Jackets will have good
field position to start this drive. That's right. You don't want to give PJ
Williams and big. Smiley a short way to go. We are playing from behind those
10 minutes, 59 seconds, for me Flags coming in at the
line of scrimmage. Prior to the snap false, start
on the offense, give it five shirts, take it back. So you would that probably gets
on the coach had Pilcher, skiing m
ore than anything. The
just guys, jumping costly penalty yardage. they had the plus 5 on the kick
infraction, but now the pushback file Left side Williams, tries to
find some room but not a lot. There Gators gang. Tackle him near the 31 So you what, PJ Williams
reversed out and had had a trailer running that Veer
and at the end, you know, being disciplined, these guys weren't
fooled. They didn't go, he came out, he came out and spend hit a
360 to his right, and those linebackers just
stayed at h
ome. Read their keys. Brad format Flint by that Gator
defense Williams on the straight keeper. Watch the left side. Got a block
there, still on his feet, fighting his way, their Midfield
left for the Yellow Jacket. First down, Up to the 49-yard line, it was
run all the way. Slayton in on the stop for the
Gators. Tell you what is you? Take a
look at this. Just a simple quarterback, draw your back
right, back up the middle there but you're looking at a guy
that's played all day long on offense and
defense and he's
still going strong first down 10 after the run by Williams option. Right side. We have gone
to face mask in there but no flag. Throw head was turned around violently
as a stop was made by Jimmy Slaton. Nice Tackle by selecting their
of course you know you got to wrap these guys up. You know
we've seen Williams making so many guys miss but this is excellent tackle.
Their sure tackle and wrapping up PJ Williams. Take another look at it as he
comes right down the line, but he's go
ing to wrap those big
paws around and make sure they wrestle them to the ground.
Nice. Stop back in town. They keep it on the ground that
smiley fighting ahead close to the first down marker to get a
good. Understanding why they call them the train. Huh? Yeah
you do if you're on the tracks, what a kid something. Take a look at this train, bowling over these guys there. That's definitely the, a trade third, and less than a yard as a worried coach at Pilcher.
Looks on under nine minutes remaining
in
the semi-final football game. Right side. No question smile.
He's got the first down inside the 40 down near the 39. You know, I like the chances
with that face some essential right now, Santos, County
Central, you know, just granting it out there. Two big
guys, PJ Williams and the Braille Smiley. The ball is in their hands. And of course it's up to those
two guys. Again, these guys have a lot of yardage between
the two of them as far as the offensive production of
Thomas County Central. Yell
ow jackets were five state,
38 titles under their belt going for a for a when this year
but they got to win this semi final game to get there.
Smiley with the football picked up. Maybe your yard good
defensive search that time by the Gators stop by Clarence Tyson. It's really important, I'm sure. Check out the total yardage
situation. Yellowjackets leading and both quarters in
that category, but the scoreboard is really with
couch. And that clock is ticking away second by second. Second down and
nine this time, Rawls with the
football to the 35-yard line. Coach Pilcher, and PJ Williams
are intentionally running clock because they want hopefully by
the end of this drive. If they get down and score a touchdown,
that it won't be enough time left on the clock for where
counter the counter, third down and 6 makes perfect sense. But they got to make sure that
they stick it in the end zone. At least Come Away with the
three third down on the ground. This time Williams keeps the
behind the blo
ck of smiley who stuck his head of their Williams gonna be about two
yards shy of that first down marker. You take another look at PJ taking it up inside for some
tough yardage. We saw those yardage totals of
the first and second half of this football game, not
surprised by that, but the Gators got to be happy with
what they've done in terms of even suppressing those members
to where it really is. This is a team that averages
over 300 yards per game on the ground alone on this fourth down, play
right
side. Smiley stretching ahead, did he get it? Needed to get a just inside of
the 30-yard line. It will depend on the mark officials are going to take a
measurement on. It looks like too close to call. On the replay, just down the
line and handing it off to Smiley laying on top of one of his
blockers. It just depends on where they
put that Market at the foot down for the mark on. It was a fourth down play for the
Yellowjackets. Crowd and let you know, which
way it goes. Is the stretch the c
hains here in the dome,
take a look at the shop there,
for my camera right on top of it. And you see it first down for
the Yellowjackets first-rate camera crew. The GPB
huge play for Thomas County Central to keep that drive a
lot. But the ball will get, they didn't make it the ball
would have been turned back over to
where County Yellow. Jackets will keep it,
keep their Championship. Hopes alive 6:18 clock running a trail by 3. Right side. Smiley with some
Authority down near the 25. Good tough.
Yardage Up Inside by the soon-to-be, all-time rushing yardage. Performer for Thomas County
Central. These guys, they averaged seven yards. A carry
over the course of this season. Some 1700 yards. 34 touchdowns on the season, 80 Force career. All on the play this time and
give it to smiley. Smile off the football near the 19 yard
line. They rule it down Jeremy, Floyd covered it, for
the Gators but we'll check and see. Officials going to get the
football to the Gators. Somebody was making a secon
d
effort to get a couple more yards out of the play. And the Gators would a big
defensive play there. Jeremy Boyd coming away with the fumble
recovery, for Ware County. Let's see who was able
to get that ball loose in there. The big bruising pullback. Yeah. Boyd was the one that was
able to rip it out. Look like it was Victor Daniels
that ripped it out of there. And boy they would have come in
and cover that football for the Gators, okay? So the 12 of
Daniels with the rip and point with the reco
very, gives the
Gators a football, they hang onto the three-point lead, and they get that football back
with 531 remaining in the contest. Sustained drive here for the
Gators. Will be exactly what they need. But on the first play
from scrimmage, Daniel's is knocked down at the line of
scrimmage. We're county has to be very,
very strategic. Here they're backed up and still a lot of
time on the clock down to eight. Got a, it's going to be
very important for them to get a couple of first downs on t
his drive. Both teams with two timeouts,
left, 5:07 clock, running in this
fourth quarter Cox on the evening. Of 16 just over 100 yards. Got
that one touchdown strike to tie it in j-jake ahia. Whistles at the line of
scrimmage in your settings where option right side. Check
the flags out. Prior to the snap false. Start on the offense five yard penalty. Just like you were talking about the need
for the Gators to be careful down here that illegal procedure
will push him back five and I'll make it
second
down and about 17 for the Gators Skype
situation that the yellow jackets w. Assuming they'll be a change of
possession here second and a long way to go. Ball at the 12 yard line. Low snap a cocks handles fires
across the middle squaring. Is once again Mejia near the 20 yard line that some
of it back, that'll make it a respectable third down and about
eight or nine. Tell you what can here has
definitely been the secret
weapon. For the Gators today coming up with some huge catches Cox handl
e the snap fires it to
Cahill for tonight's game. Yeah, big Target for cocks, but it put it right on
the numbers. 63 210. Third down nine under four minutes, remaining. Rolling right side. Here comes
the pressure cocks. Unloads, tried to dump it out and Flash.
My pass goes incomplete intended for Derek Daniels but good defensive work by Josh.
Audrey for the Yellowjackets defense. Here's that 4th and 9th, huge
down. Here's down here. And I guess the smart thing is to go
ahead and punch it because
, you know, you don't want to get,
you don't want to give him the ball back here. But at the
same time, you want to make sure that you're able to get
this pun off because I know that you got to be thinking to Thomas
County might be coming after this thing. Cole Anderson
wolf set, to put it away for the Gators and PJ Williams. Stands near the 45. See if they leave the set to try
to block this thing. They are set for the run back. But except for a good run back.
If they can good punch by Anderson'
s Williams, lets it bounce, and it
takes them favorable balance for the Gators near the 36 yard line, nice coverage by the Gators, led
by number 7 will erosion. That's what you have to do in
situations like that. You gotta, you know, got a good pun
off and you got guys sprinting down the field here in the last
few minutes of the game. Cole Anderson, does a fine job
for the Gators on that pun? Yes. Kept it away from They got some distance on it,
yellow jackets from their own 36. The last possessi
on, the big guy put it on the ground, they're
going to I bet you're going to go back with him Williams. Will take the drop
though. He's going up top. He's got a man wide open. It's Miller
drop the football. Miller had it. Will they rule to
catch? They ruled it a catch and fumble Gators, have it back. What a place my oh my they go up top on the past. Wide open downfield was Miller. Miller had it brought it in and
dropped it. That's tough. That's tough Gators back and visits with the
football Will
iams and the Yellowjackets
were trying to answer up top, they just spread it out, had
Miller wide-open cocks now back under center for the Gators. Left side on the Carrie was Daniel's. Once
again, it's very important for Ware County to get a couple
of first downs and kill some of this clock culture, how to look at him
those. They had an opportunity there to slip, right, through
their fingers. Yes, indeed literally second down and eight. It's right side damage with a
football tip near. The line o
f scrimmage may have got more on
the two on the carry. Gators trying to be conservative
down here. They don't want to do anything,
that's going to cause them to lose a football. That deep in
their own territory. Maybe Yellow Jackets are playing some
good defense here and they really have a legitimate shot at stopping them. Once again,
and possibly getting the ball back, third down and seven. See the timeout situation for
both teams. Both of the two. 15 remaining in the semi-final
match up, third
down and seven for Ware County. Whistles at the line of
scrimmage. Officiating crew has been busy
tonight. Yeah, prior to the game remains third down. That's not good. What's the third and seven?
That'll push him back five. Backed up this deep man. You
know the beginning if they don't have a positive play they
got a punt from this far back. Do last time. Thomas last possession, Thomas County
Central elected. Not to go for the block punt. This one's a
little deeper than they go for this one. Haw
ks play fakes, Here Comes
pressure down dumped it out the flats, past them because at
the sidelines catch made by Victor Daniels Daniels. Did he get enough for
the first down? And looks like you did. Yes. Huge play. The Yellow Jacket.
The fender was gambling on that play. DJ yelling for the pic.
Yep, take a look at it. As Cox will coming at you right at you. Going to get a speech set to
deliver the ball out in the flaccid boy. Oh boy! The
defender undercut. It tried to make a play unfortunately.
The play and
Daniel's dear. You talk about a camera crew
being right on top of it. Maybe some enemies giving out to
here tonight. You're right about that, excellent shot guys. First down,
pick up on the ground by Daniel's caters they have sealed their
own fate but that first sound pickup Daniels on the carried. Eric
Daniels on this one for the Gators that last completion. Might have
been the most one of the most important plays of the
game. Yellow Jackets burn one of their two timeouts here. DJ
.
Yep. And to think the f First four weeks of the
regular season where County was two and two, indeed, you're right. Start it
out to and to ran the table down there. Last night on and working on one here, Gators coming into it, Go
triangle talked about it, what they've got to do, they've got
to suppress that score, they've
done that and we saw it look at the
distribution of terms of the Run production in the first
and second half of the run and
pass that favor the yellow jackets.
But Not high en
ough or not, not enough Separation on that
yardage to give them that clear Edge. Like they've been normally
seeing throughout the course of the year. Next week is what these guys are
playing for a shot at the Eagles of Northside in the
4A Championship. That'll be down gonna provide the termination
yet and we'll be there at 7:30 next weekend on Friday. It'll be
either, the Yellowjackets are the Gators and a minute 28
seconds, determining which Saturday night, of course the
five a finale next week
end as well. So
football this weekend and football next weekend as well on
GPB there. Daniel's again, with the
carry for the Gators. You know, I'm talking about Coach Dan rhaegal, and these Ware County Gators two
weeks ago. He got his 150th Victory, and that's a lot of damn, that's
a lot of wins when you consider how tough it is today to maintain. He'd you're right comparatively the program's
Yellowjackets obviously but a lot more storied history than
the Gators, but the Gators very good footbal
l and we're
County. Left side, Daniel's once again. Down to 41 seconds. So third down plate Yellow.
Jackets burn their last timeout here with 40 seconds left. Trying to
get that football back with, at least some time to work with.
Remember the only have to get three down to keep us with some,
some extra football here in the Georgia Dome. That's
right for I tell you know what? You
know one thing about it too is that PJ Williams. I'm sure and
Miller is going to have to forget that last play becaus
e if they get opportunity to get it
back, We caught up with Coach Pilcher
prior to the game and got his thoughts about what he really
likes about this profession. Oh, I like, I like going to
practice. I mean, games are the fun part, you know, I mean
the, the, the, the icing, on the
cake, but I really enjoy going to
practice. I think. Do you know, that's the
best part about the profession is, is the
teaching and the coaching of the kids and there's nothing better than to
see a little nice bit of
it's not very
talented at all and over a period of four years.
He stuck with you because he just has a For the
game and the things that you've are
the coaching staff that we have taught him and watch the development that
he has gone from a ninth grader in to blossom into a really good. High
school football player, that's the most rewarding thing
right there. And I think the kids benefit from
that some of the tourists, it's the learning process. And
that's, you know, that's what we are. We're tea
chers. And let's put that's the fun part
about it. For Landis, an auto return for
the Yellowjackets kids to return. This one DJ and gets
inside of Gator territory. Well, PJ Iron Man Williams here
with 29 seconds left in the game. We've seen him on offense,
we've seen him on defense, we've seen them on special
teams, still going strong. So Williams with the return and
the yellow jackets with no timeouts remaining 29 seconds on
the clock. They have got to get it into field goal position
for the ki
cker Chandler. Oppenheim oppenheim is a good form around
40 yards or so right now the football at the 40 To get it down to about the 20,
something Williams rolling right side going to raise and
fight looking. So smiley, smiley falls down near the 15,
no flag on the play. 21 seconds remaining didn't
fool, anybody with that. Play to wear County defenders down
there, all over smiling, fix the Daniels and Cole
Anderson on the coverage. For the Gators, you see Williams rolling here
and putting some l
ittle are up under it, but you'll notice the
two Defenders are right there in the picture. Trying to get it into the hands
of your playmaker. Yep. Season for the Yellowjackets,
coming down to these last 21 seconds Williams tries to running caught
at the line of scrimmage, caters get in behind the line. Big play defensively by Jimmy
stinky and they can't stop the clock unless they down the ball. Four seconds. Will they get a
playoff they do final play of the ball
game Williams will roll it right
side. They've got to score here. Fires in trapping coverage downfield, incomplete
Gators, win the Gators. He's aware County
have done what most thought was impossible. They contain that high post
office of PJ Williams and the Braille Smiley and they win it in this
semifinal matchup from the Georgia Dome. The for a
division, the Gators advancing to the finals. Next weekend. 10:7, the final score from the
Georgia Dome will step aside for quick timeout will come back
to wrap it up from the Georgia
Dome score from the
Georgia Dome. The Gators aware County when its And seven over the yellow jackets, America Thomas, County, Central High, John Nelson standing by
with Coach array. Then ragel here with the head coach. First
questions are really easy. When how does it feel to play for a
state championship? Well, it's a great feeling. It's been a long time where
count-out think 1961. So congratulations, Ware County in
Waycross. Georgia, you had, you had to have Tempo your way. It
had to be a game
that wasn't going to be in the 20s and 30s. And you got your wish. Well,
there's no question. We couldn't get in the scoring
match with them. We had to keep it low. So going and we've been
out there but we didn't break and that's just a tremendous
effort. On our defense has part in regular. Congratulations, we know who's going to be
playing next week. We just don't know. We're probably a
coin flip it about 15 minutes Charles and DJ. Thank you. Ellie will find out? Who will have
next weekend? We
do who we have just don't know where you're
right on that. Nellie 15 hours of football. Coming your way
again, tomorrow here from the Georgia Dome, you don't want
to mess. That until then Charles water behalf. A DJ Jones, and
John Nelson. Thanks so much for joining us
and we'll see you tomorrow.
