good morning everyone from essen in germany and behind me you can see there's the sportster as the brand new harley davidson super excited to try it out at the end of the day i will let you know everything all of my impressions everything i know about the bike so stay tuned and have fun [Music] [Music] all right we are back to the starting point and we actually had a really good route for like testing because we had all kinds of different stuff there we had the audubon we had country roads we ha
d bad asphalt we had good asphalt we had stop and go traffic so there's really a lot i can tell you about this bike but yeah some things were really surprising to me and but let's start with something that wasn't surprising to me and that's this awesome engine and that's the revolution max 1250 t and it's not surprising to me that it's good because it was um basically the same engine in the pan america with some adjustment to make it more fitting for a sport cruiser and here it has that t in the
name the revolution max t and this stands for torque because it's optimized for like really really good acceleration and you could feel this a lot of torque from down below but also a lot of power in the mid-range and it also has that variable valve actuation that enables you to not only have torque at like lower rpms but also very good power at higher rpms and yeah i'm a huge fan of this engine and it works so well in this motorcycle here in this brand new sportster and it has 122 horsepower a
t i think around 7500 rpm and it has 125 newton meters of torque at already 6 000 rpm and as i said it has already so much torque at lower rpms great great fun to ride and as also in the panamerica it is equipped with a six axis imu with cornering abs cornering traction control wheel control yeah all that kind of stuff so it also has some really nice safety features but also has standard of course cruise control control that's here on the left side and it's really easy to engage just you know ac
tivate it and then press the button down and then you can go hands-free and different riding modes and for example we have a rain mode a road mode a sport mode and two modes that you can configure it the way you want it i started this morning in road mode because that's all usually how i get when i get used to the bike and feel comfortable with it and once i put it in sport mode i was like wow like this is the fun mode for sure and there you could feel the biggest difference to the engine of the
pan america because it's really so so torquey and really makes you want to ride like a hooligan if you do it or not that's up to you if you want to take it more easy just put it in rain mode and you have a really like flat curve like a flat power curve and torque curve and it's more easy going and especially if you have bad road conditions that's uh they will the way you want to go there let's get to the seating position next because i think that's a very interesting too so as you can see as th
e standard sportster is you have the controls in the front so you have like a very relaxed seating position here and your hands are like this to the front i'm five six so one meter and 69 centimeters if that's of interest to you the seat is very low so you probably also won't have any issues reaching the ground i can easily reach the ground with both feet flat on the ground so that makes it easy for maneuvering and this bag is really light for a harley it's i think it's around 50 kilograms light
er than the 48 so that's like one of the surprising things for me um when i think of other harleys that i've been riding and what i was also surprised is that they with all this power performance enhancement that they made that they only use one single disc in the front for the break but i have to be honest like trying it out it really worked well it was good to dose it was sufficient of course probably two discs would have been even better but honestly it was enough and all of the guys today in
the morning that were complaining well why does it only have one single disc it should have more with all this power true but they were all quiet at the end of the day because they all were happy with this performance of the front brake and hardy says they just make it for the design because it looks better with only one single disc so i think it was good enough and you could dose it well what i love that is that you can adjust both levers and the clutch lever is so easy to engage that's also s
omething surprising for me when i think of other harleys where you had to have so much power in your hand but here is so easy like even with one finger very easy to engage and so you also as i said you have the controls in the front as standard but you can choose if you want to have mid controls and most of the day i was riding with mid controls because i'm not a very tall person as some others and so for me this position was quite not cramped at all it was actually a little bit more active and
i i like riding in an active position and i've it felt really good for me and i personally would choose that for me if i would buy this bike i do enjoy having it very relaxed from the knee angle as well but i think i i enjoy like the the midway and it still had a lot of lean freedom you could really write this active and this brings me to the next surprising thing because i was very skeptical before i was riding this just looking at the specs because this thing has a huge huge front tire and it'
s um surround is huge as from the fat bob it has that 17 inch and 160 millimeters broad front wheel and i thought like how is this going to be agile at all riding into corners but it actually was and i think the reason for this is that it's quite like has a peak in the middle so you like riding it it was it was actually quite agile of course you had to give an impact and it's not as it doesn't fall into a corner like a super light naked bike but it does a job really well and then once you're in
the corner it stays on the path that you wanted to go and super super nice and when we were going in the twisties was fun as hell so so as i said compared to the 48 for example we have that front tire this this huge front tire we have also that la that headlight that is more that also reminds more of the fat bob and we have an exhaust pipe that goes up to the rear which reminds a little of the flat track racers that harley has and i love this like kind of combination of different styles and i kn
ow if you're like a die hard sportster fan i mean the sports has been around since 1957 so it's such a legacy of sports bikes that we have and this is something completely new and i do understand why some people are oh this is not a sportster anymore but i think you should be like a little more open-minded in that case just um i think harley made this bike this way just also to appeal to younger riders and to someone who it's just polarizing and i think it's it's a great mix of different styles
and if you're into the old sportster just get a used one there are so many on the market so there's no need to like get angry or anything and i love like brands trying out new things and to me it's very appealing i love the design and i love this mix of like badass classy sporty cruiser everything i like it what do you think martin can we do a quick sound check yes of course [Applause] yeah that was great another bike and the bike oh the bag [Music] i do have to say that it developed some heat w
hen we were going into stop and go traffic all day was actually super nice and there's this cover here on the exhaust because i was worried first if the exhaust goes up to the rear it might be get a little hot but it has like this cover here which does a great job but when we were going in stop and go traffic it would develop some heat so um yeah i would sometimes like move my leg away a little bit to prevent from it getting roasted and then there's one more thing that i would criticize a little
bit that's the suspension travel in the rear is like super little so you would feel bumps definitely and big bumps you would feel a lot so you have a hydraulic adjustment of the preload in the rear we tried it out it didn't change too much so i understand that it's also a design thing to have less suspension travel but i have to say it was a little uncomfortable when you were going on bumpy roads and we had some bumpy roads and it would really uh shake you so the suspension is by shova and it's
fully adjustable in the front and it's adjustable as i said hydraulically in the rear with this wheel and in the preload and in the compression the seat i have to say is really comfortable there's also an option available so you can carry a passenger there's also passenger footrests of course we didn't try it out today we didn't have one here this time i cannot tell you what the passenger comfort is like unfortunately there's also other accessory options like a big windshield that actually look
s really cool it's like tinted and yeah it takes off a lot of wind if you go on a longer tour or on the outer band for example and you could just can clip it away or on so this is very neat to have and as standard you have the tft display it shows you of course your speed it shows you the rpm it shows you the total kilometers and which gear you're in and also how much fuel you have left which is great with that 11.8 liter tank and it shows you the remaining kilometers or if you're in america whi
ch is the remaining miles that you have left and also of course the mode that you're in currently you have that connectivity option you can connect your phone by bluetooth and then you can put the harley-davidson navigation system into the display you can also take phone calls through your headset and all that kind of stuff if you're into that to go in the menu i would just click this and then music info about the bike settings and navigation and so on and then go out of the menu by pressing the
home button you of course have that keyless ignition that harley usually always uses and what also is one surprising thing is that you have the turn signal uh control on just only on the left side usually harley's have it on the left and on the right side but i prefer it this way because if you're on the gas it's just not that convenient to use the right thump to engage the turn indicator all right it's available in three different colors here in front of me is that nice white also there's a cr
imson red there's also a crimson red and i wrote the black one all day or most of the day and as you probably know i'm very very much into like dark and black bikes so that would be probably my color prices in germany is around like fifteen thousand five hundred euros and in austria around eighteen thousand five hundred euros due to their nova yeah and it will be available here in the market i think in around eight weeks so you should sign up for a test ride because i can really recommend this f
un bike try it out and find out for yourself if it's for you but i'm pretty sure you will love it as much as i do all right i hope i didn't forget anything and i also implemented the questions that you asked me on instagram i asked before if you had any questions for that bike so i hope i didn't forget anything at that point but yeah otherwise just put it in the comments and let me know what you think of that bike the feedback before i got from other people from instagram was very positive they
were really into that new design and i actually like it a lot too i also like the previous design but i have to say that with all this performance and all the power that was added to the sportster i think this like more muscular design just fits very well to it and uh the previous one was like looking a little more slimmer and not as bad as this one actually so i do like it and i think it fits with the whole concept of the bike but you know everyone's different everyone has their own opinion so
let me know what you think thank you for watching thank you for your thumbs up if you like and i hope i see you again soon take care everyone and ride safe [Music] bye
