Harper Mixon's song helps family get back home

Harper Mixon inspired thousands with her song "Love Does" and her mission to raise money to help those forced out of their home by Hurricane Harvey. Now, a family will have their home again in time for the holidays. To download her song go to iTunes, Amazon or Google Play. You can also make a tax-deductible donation to a special rebuild fund at Lakewood church. All the money goes toward rebuilding homes.

[Music] that is young Harper Mixon she may be a small singer-songwriter but she has a big mission and a big message that she continues to work on diligently and that mission is making sure that families who were forced from their homes by Hurricane Harvey can get back to a normal life the last time she was here she told us about the inspiration behind her song love does and her mission to raise money to fix area homes well she is back to update us on the progress [Applause] oh my gosh what a ver

Paul Osteen from Lakewood Church Lakewood and Harper have teamed up to make these dreams a reality for so many families who continue to struggle in our area great to have you all here with us this morning okay first off Harper I want to start with you how do you feel abo
ut being able to help so many families in need mrs. Montoya you and your family I understand are still living in one room of your gut at home and you and your husband have had to make a lot of sacrifices so how has this whole journey been for you it's really amazing and overwhelming you know my son for over a year was sleeping on the recliner you know so that way his sisters could sleep on the bed because we all slept in that one room of the house I mean it's it's life-changing really and I can
hear and be emotion and see the emotion in your face on how this has impacted your life greatly vary greatly I mean I'm truly blessed you know that they've helped my family out you know Rico how are you when you found out what was your reaction my reaction was I found out mm-hmm about the house yes yes I always like happy watching the house I was like I don't even think I was gonna be like this like I I anything it was so nice so nice I was like wow and doctor Osteen this really is a three-month
project but you were able to get this all done in just a matter of three weeks it was amazing because I think it was such a compelling story and we wanted and the subcontractors realized you know we want to do everything we can they would work 16 hours day on top of each other just to make this happen that's the heart of Houston and the Montoya's truth be told Arn alone there really are still so many families that are struggling out there so people don't realize there's a lot of people that are
trapped they can't get in their home they don't have the funds difficult situations I just I don't think we can forget their people out there still hurting from Harvey Harper dr.
