The story begins in the near future, where gaming  has evolved. No longer are people playing games with controllers; now, everything is VR. With  great games, there also comes some trash. These games are very badly made and have a lot of  glitches. This creates a special community of players who are obsessed with playing these  trash games and trying to break them. One of the players is called Ruro; his screen name online  is Sunra Coup. He loves to play trash games. We are also introduced to Ru
ro's classmate,  Ray, who also has a massive crush on him. Ray is too afraid to admit the crush, so Ruro has  no idea. Ruro would also not find any time for real dating since he is so obsessed with video  games. While playing one of these trash games, he burns out completely and decides to take a  break. Then one day, everything changes. While talking to a game shop owner called Mana, he is  introduced to a game called Shangri-La Frontier. This special game has over 30 million players and  no gl
itches; it's a real spectacle. Ruro joins the game and creates his character just for his style  of play: it's a Wanderer type character with two blades, luck bonuses, and no armor. He is just  wearing shorts and a bird mask on his head. Ruro skips the game tutorial and just starts fighting  monsters in the game world like a madman. He is determined to reach a town called Fira. Ruro has  extra luck, so since the game has no glitches, he finds the gameplay super easy, much easier  than those tras
h games. He is so confident that he skips the starting town, Firsta, and goes to  Saal, a more advanced location. Ruro runs into a giant monster and just starts fighting it with  all his might. Since Ruro skipped the tutorial, he has no idea that this game has  different, non-combat style classes. A new insane adventure begins, and it will be  exciting to see how far Ruro gets in this game. We learned that Ry has already been playing  Shangri-La for a while, and she is a very high-level warrior.
When she learns that her  crush, Ruro, is now playing, she tries to find him but has no luck. In the meantime, Ruro fights  a giant snake boss enemy and almost gets killed in battle. Since he did not do the tutorial, he  also has no idea that this type of boss requires at least three players to be the battle. With the  snake boss, the battle is intense, but finally, Ruro manages to take down the beast. He levels up  all the way to level 14, but he is now poisoned because of the snake venom. Thi
s causes his health  to constantly drop. Ruro then runs to Secondo, where he gets some help from a player called  RI. Ruro finally learns about respawn points, so he can return after death without restarting  the entire game. Ruro then is able to get his health back and returns in full force to the  game. He decides to buy some new gear since he is basically totally naked and looks like a  lunatic to the other players. After that, he goes deep inside the Dire Marsh swamp to mine ore and  gets ne
w daggers. The blacksmith tells Ruro that it's very dangerous to go monster hunting during  the night. Of course, Ruro does not listen to him and goes out when nightfalls. That is when he  runs into the Leagan Night Slayer, a beast so legendary no other player has ever defeated it.  Ruro fights the beast and actually does pretty well. He is able to land several critical strikes  on Leagan's weak points. The problem is the beast is just too strong, so it eats Ruro's legs. Ruro  has to respawn, bu
t he promises to be back. After he respawns, Ruro is affected by the Leagan curse.  He cannot use any armor on his legs or body. Also, Ruro cannot fight monsters that are lower level  than him anymore, and the NPCs in the game will be much more different towards him. The only way  Ruro can lift this curse is by being healed by a saint or defeating the Leagan. Ruro now has  to be naked again, except for his bird head, while trying to find a solution to his curse. He  gets invited to a town called
Ritza and starts a quest that is level 80, mind you, Ruro is nowhere  near that level. Ruro finds out that Lon putting the curse on him is actually a sign of respect,  and Ruro is a worthy enemy because he attacks a stronger boss. Ruro is the first-ever player to  be invited to meet Rabbit King Vis. We also learn through a flashback that Ry only started to play  this game for a chance to maybe have some time with Ruro. Ry and her friend Mana tried to find  Ruro. Ruro is surprised to find out he
is the first player to meet the Rabbit King himself.  Ruro also gets various rewards from the king, one that highly increases his stat gain. Later  in the day, Katso, an old friend of Ruro, invites him to a trash game meeting. This is a  meeting with all the hardcore players that love trash games. The other players are confused why  Ruro would play a real game instead of their usual trash. Ruro explains that Shangri-La Frontier  is beyond special. Ruro is able to convince his friends to join th
e game as well. He also moves  to a town called Third Denma in the game. Ruro is also now joined by an NPC called Imol. The two  of them go to fight a monster called Mud Digger before going to Fido. Ruro has to fight the Mud  Digger in a dangerous swamp, which makes movement very difficult. Ruro also starts to have weird  dreams where Imol is actually a demon. Mud Digger fights Ruro once more. Imol saves Ruro during the  fight, which surprises Ruro. Ruro is used to being a solo player as he neve
r works in teams. The Mud  Digger monster throws Ruro so high in the air, the fall will surely end him. Imol is able to  save Ruro in the last second. Not only that, but Imol teleports Ruro right on top of the Mud  Digger, which allows Ruro to deliver a finishing blow to the monster. After the battle is over,  Ruro and Imol go to Ferino. Ruro has now caught the attention of many other players because he  has a unique NPC. He is almost totally naked, and he has fought the Leun Ashur. Kai is an  a
ssassin clan that has players who attack and destroy other players. They become very interested  in Ruro and decide to hunt him down. Ruro is also attacked by Arthur Pensan, a level 99 player  killer. Ruro notices Arthur seems familiar to him. Ruro realizes that Arthur is also a trash game  hunter like himself. They met a long time ago in a trash game where chaos often happened amongst the  players. Arthur actually became the queen of that trash game and the final boss. Ruro, of course,  took he
r down, so that is how their long-standing rivalry started. It is revealed that Arthur chased  down Ruro just to end him in this game. She is also one of the strongest members of the Ashur Kai  Clan. A chaotic fight begins, with Arthur trying to take down Ruro. Heil, who tried to disguise  herself as a human, transforms back into her rabbit form. This also causes problems because  everyone wants her as their NPC. Also, Arthur really badly wants to find out how Ruro triggered  that special Rabbit
King quest. Ry also joins the battle to help Ruro, finally being able to find  him. Anamelia, a player obsessed with animal NPCs, decides to help Ruro and Imol. Anamelia activates  a spell that destroys her and Arthur as well. Ruro is able to escape this entire messy situation. Ray  and Ruro have a brief conversation, but Ruro has to run from the assassins. Ry is now pissed off  at the assassins, ruining her moment with Ruro. Ruro continues to train in the Rabbit Kingdom.  Ruro trains with mons
ters called the Pack Hounds, all of them being high-level enemies. Ruro  fails several times. It's only on his seventh attempt that he realizes their attack patterns and  finally defeats him. While he is doing all this, Ry is determined to find him once more and  finally send him a friend request in the game. Ruro continues to train, and each time he fights  more powerful monsters, he only reaches level 31 since he has reduced experience points. The Rabbit  King arrives to see Ruro fight a level
120 enemy. This enemy is called Aant Wood Mage, a powerful  sorcerer who is unstoppable. To win this round, Ruro just has to survive for 5 minutes. Ruro tries  to attack the Mage with his usual attacks but soon realizes he cannot be harmed by physical damage.  Ruro just starts to dodge the mage's attacks, hoping to survive for those five minutes. After  just two minutes, Ruro thinks about giving up since this fight is incredibly difficult. He  then steals the mage's staff. Ruro is able to survi
ve for the remaining three minutes and wins  the challenge. The Mage loses control and decides to murder Auro, but the Rabbit King destroys the  mage. Ruro is granted several rewards, one of them is a new mission called The Vorpal Epic. Ruro also  decides to explore the main storyline of the game and visit various towns. He also notices that Ry  is following him and spying on him. Arthur decides to go against the Ashur Kai High command and  hunt a legendary monster, Weatherman Tomu Guard, on her
own. In the meantime, Ruro gets a  friend request from Ry, which surprises him. Ruro does not know Ry has high school  Kie is actually this player in the game, so he does not trust her. Ruro accepts the friend  request but plans to trick Ray if she tries to steal from him. Ruro goes traveling all over  the game world and soon runs into a giant battle between Empire Bees and Quad Beels. Ruro joins  the battle and takes down a weak Beal. He gets some crazy new gear and decides to fight the boss
of the, the Clown Spider. Ruro tries to enter the Boss Arena, but he learns that other players are  currently fighting the monster. Ruro has to wait, and standing still is not his favorite thing.  The other players fail spectacularly, so it's now Ruro's turn. He tells Imol to not help him during  the fight. As he attacks the Clown Spider, Ruro uses all his new moves and fighting techniques  and is able to defeat the boss without taking any damage. Soon after, he gets an invite from Arthur  herse
lf to fight the legendary Weatherman in two weeks. In the real world, Ry and Ruro have a short  conversation, but he has no idea that they go to school together. He never noticed her before. Ry  is not able to admit she met Ruro inside the game. Ruro goes to meet Arthur in real life to make a  deal about their quest. Imol is terrified of this quest since she is an NPC. There is a special rule  in the Shangri-La world: if an NPC dies in battle, it never respawns. Imol is worried that the fight  w
ith Weather Moon is too dangerous and that she will die and be lost forever. King Rabbit  VisIt also does not want Ruro fighting that monster. Ruro reveals his true plan to exploit  the game rules and just get experience points from starting a fight with Weather Moon and then  just running away before they die. The king rabbit decides to give Ruro some upgrades, but still,  Ruro has to level up to level 50 in 2 weeks. That's a lot of grinding waiting for him. Arthur  also wants Ruro to be as str
ong as possible, so she sends him into the Iron Ruins, where he can  train. Arthur gives Ruro a fishing rod and tells him that it's necessary if he wants to survive  the ruins. Ruro is also joined in his training by Katso, one of Arthur's friends, and another trash  player. The two of them defeat countless robots in this futuristic area. Ruro and Katso find a room  where they can level up very fast. This room is called the Twilight Lake. This lake is the home  of a very dangerous monster, the Li
festeal Lake Serpent. To defeat the monster, Ruro needs to  hook it with his fishing rod. He is able to do it and finally defeats the monster. Katso also  explains the game mechanics called skill linking, something that Ruro missed since he skipped the  entire tutorial. By not using this mechanic, Ruro made the game so much harder for himself.  After several days of training, Ruro is now level 42, while Katso is level 40. Arthur starts to  prepare everything for the fight with Weatherman. She te
lls Ruro his origin story. Weatherman  blames himself for the death of his family, so he guards their graves. This is all in an  area that is covered by Moon magic. It can only be reached once a month when the moon is dark. We  also learned that Ruro knows who Arthur is in real life. She is actually a supermodel called Tawa  who has no private life because of her fans. Ruro continues his training and creates his own play  style to defeat the powerful enemy. He does so not in the Shangri-La gamin
g world but in a trash game  called Barp. There, he meets a new player called Dragonfly and trains him how to find the best  glitches. In the meantime, Ry tries to write a message to Ruro so that he joins her party. She's  too shy and ashamed of everything she writes, so she gives up on the message. Dragonfly and  Ruro keep fighting in the Barp game, and finally, Dragonfly wins one round by discovering a double  punch glitch. Ruro also shows Dragonfly a glitch only he knows in this game. Ruro la
ter returns  to Shangri-La and continues to train for his big match. He starts to use the skill linking mechanic  to learn new abilities. Arthur and Ruro start planning for their fight with Weatherman when  another problem arises. The Ashura Kai are usually at the boss location to harvest experience. A new  game update will help deal with the Ashura Kai Clan more easily. Ruro and Arthur must defeat all  of them so that they are harmless in the future. They will also get a lot of gear and loot fr
om the  assassins. There is a big update in the Shangri-La game. New quests, maps, and job titles are added  in the game, as well as new rules for players. This update also causes a bit of chaos in the  shops since there are no more resurrection items. Ray sends an invite message to Ruro but then  deletes it since there is a party forming that will attack the Ashur Kai Clan and will back  away from the fight with Weatherman but gives Ruro a magic necklace to use in the battle. Ray  leads an army
that goes to fight the Ashur Kai to get revenge for all the players they attacked.  The Ashur Kai are defeated. In the meantime, Ruro and Arthur finally reach Weatherman, a samurai in  very insane armor. Arthur has studied everything about Weatherman and his fighting style. Katso  also joins the fight and helps the group. The only way to defeat Weather Moon is to survive all  10 rounds with him. Ruro gets killed, but Katso resurrects him. It is then revealed that Arthur  actually purchased all
the resurrection items, and that is why the shops are all empty. Arthur  does not plan to just run away from this fight, and she wanted her teammates to have all the best  gear and upgrades. She forms a plan and tells it to Ruro and Katso. Weatherman starts to fight  our brave trio. After surviving for 10 minutes, Weatherman summons his powerful horse called  Kieran. The trio tries to stop Weatherman from getting on his horse by creating a diversion. Ruro  and Katso are in trouble after 10 minut
es of this, so Arthur decides to give them the most expensive  items to use. This gives them a temporary stat boost during the fight. Arthur spends everything  she bought during this battle, spending a massive amount of points in giving them to Ruro and Katso.  These points upgrade their luck and stamina during the battle. Artha realizes that the fight has been  happening for 20 minutes, and now it's about time Weather Moon unleashes a powerful fatal attack. He  creates an explosion that destroy
s all the players around them. Arthur decides to use holy water on  Weatherman since he is an undead. She has to stop him from unleashing his attack. Weatherman starts  to burn from the holy water, and Kieran transforms into a robot and starts to fight Katso. Ruro gets  bored of this entire fight as he is tired of just trying to survive. He really wants to defeat the  mighty Weatherman once and for all. He puts on his best gear and starts to deal critical damage to  the samurai. When Weatherman
spots the necklace, he stops fighting. He says some very interesting  thing about the game world of Shangri-La and then starts to fight very differently. All of a  suddenly, Weatherman is much more aggressive, and his attacks are faster than the wind itself.  Finally, he destroys Ruro's powerful gear and kills him. Still, in the last second, Ruro  is able to use a resurrection item to revive himself. The fight continues. Weatherman starts to  use a special pattern of attacks where the final atta
ck is fatal if it connects. Ruro is now really  in trouble as he has no more resurrection items, and his enemy is crazier than ever. The only way  Ruro can win this is if he does a perfect parry attack. He has to counter one of Weatherman's  attacks perfectly. While that is happening, Katso and Arthur fight the powerful Kieran and manage to  damage its armor. They then hit its critical weak point and finally destroy the powerful horse. Ruro  now has one chance only to counter Weatherman and his
lethal attack. He has no more health spells or  resurrection items. Weatherman starts his string of attacks, and Ruro waits for the final one. The  lethal attack in the final seconds, he is able to perfectly counter the attack, and it leaves  Ruro with only one point of health. Weatherman loses his sword, and his armor is destroyed.  Weatherman congratulates Ruro for winning this most legendary battle. Cherry blossoms start  to appear all over the arena as the victory celebration begins. Weather
man is very impressed  by Ruro's strength and power in battle. He names him the descendant of the frontier and then  turns into dust. After this boss fight is over, there is a huge announcement in the game world  because Weatherman has been defeated. A new phase of the world story will now begin. He is the first  unique monster that has been destroyed. This new chapter of Shangri-La will unlock new undiscovered  lore and surprising twists. The last few remaining Ashur Kai clan members try to amb
ush Arthur as  revenge, but Ry is then summoned by Arthur. The group defeats the assassins, and finally, the last  of the Ashur Kai are defeated. Arthur gets all of their rare items. Ray is finally able to defeat  the entire clan of players that ruined it for all the others for so long. Ruro and his group  are now ready for a new adventure filled with insane boss fights and crazy new discoveries.  The adventure of Shangri-La has just begun.
