State lawmakers got an earful today from supporters of higher education students teachers and representatives of schools in our state gathered in Montgomery for the yearly higher education day it's all about making sure lawmakers know the importance of tax funding for state universities WSFA 12 News photo journalist Ted Hughes was there Alabama's universities are $12.50 return on every dollar invested that's why all 14 have come to together to make a point today to say that we are we're we're wo
rking in sync to make sure that Alabama knows that we want to be a part of the team for the [Music] future so when we were approached with this opportunity we couldn't help but say yes the ability to influence those people in power to further our education by furthering our budgets it was it was astounding honestly we have 180,000 students on our campus see my university invests in our students but we also invest in our state um we are just so excited to be here and advocate for higher education
for Alabama I think just every time I hear the response to the questions would you stay in Alabama yes you know are you excited about your future yes you know would you read would you do this all over again if you had a chance yes you know those are the things that make me excited because I know that that what we're doing is mattering the higher education partnership organizes this yearly lobbying event the message they say to show State leaders that our colleges and universities are critical t
