WITY TRAVELS

10 months ago

So far in India we have taken a 12-hour train from Delhi to Amritsar. Where we met quite a few interesting characters. From there we did a do-it-yourself food tour of India's best food. And now we are making our way to Shimla. A hill station at the foothills of the Himalayas. We are going from Kalka to Shimla via the Himalayan Queen. Along the rail that is a UNESCO world heritage site. And was built in 1903. Today we will show you India's most scenic train journey. We're hanging out getting b-ro
ll of the train. And I just go in and ask a family if I can take some photos and videos of them. And they let me and then they asked me if I wanted paratha. So I have aloo paratha here. It is super delicious. It's got a nice little spice. And they were super kind. They're from Delhi and they're hanging out.  Going to Shimla for a couple days. So they've been to Shimla a few times. But this is the first time they're taking the toy train. So, super cool. these are our seats. so I'm seeing if this
bag. Will go up here. Yeah. we're packing a little  bit too heavy. Thank God we don't have our suitcase with us. it doesn't fit? it doesn't but it can go under the seat if we need to. It's too tall? Yeah. There is plenty of room under here. No problem. This here is fc2. So it looks like it's got some curtains in it. I don't know any of the other options we didn't see that online. But that looks like a nice little option as well. All right this is really not too easy to do. Because I'm very larg
e and these windows are very small. But this is super exciting because we've never  even been by a door or anything like that. Now we're by windows we're gonna get fresh air and beautiful views. If I don't injure my back too bad. It's my first every time hanging out a door on a train here. You're hanging out or you're hanging out? Well I'm hanging out. I can do this. Should I do this when the train's going? It's okay? What happened you punched someone? Broke your hand? Wait, the thing's coming
to attach. So we were wondering how they're going to drive this thing since both sides are flat. This is what they do. It pulls up. And they attach it. Then once they attach it then we can finally leave. Here's our driver right here. Hi driver. We got a couple veg meals at 70 rupees a piece. And we got it right here in the train station. We're gonna go ahead and eat this before we get on the train. We've got ourselves some new YouTubers over here. They are just starting their channel. I haven't
decided my YouTube channel name. So I must decide it later. So when you have your YouTube channel leave a comment on this video and then and then they can find you, yeah? Okay. The seats are kind of confusing. So everybody's kind of standing up trying to figure out what seats they're supposed to be in. I even think  we sat in the wrong seats. So I think we're on the opposite side. It's a little confusing but we've got some people here helping us out. We are off pretty much on time. We're the
longest tunnel of the trip. Do you know how many kilometres the tunnel is? How many kilometres is this tunnel? One kilometer? It said longest. The sign said longest tunnel. All the other tunnels have been a lot shorter. I'm going to ask him how long it is. It's still not multiple kilometers. A kilometre is still pretty long. It's one kilometer. We've been in this tunnel for a minute and a half. He said a few more seconds. You can take a proper nap in the tunnel. We see light! So you're in the tu
nnel for about two minutes. Two minutes. Oh all right. Two minutes; two kilometers. Now look at our view. Okay, I don't know how much time we have. Everybody seems to be rushing. But let's see if we can grab a chai. At our very first stop on this amazing train journey. Can you hold? Okay. Thank you! So at least they honk before it's time to go. What was that? Like a minute? That was not five minutes. Everybody has their chai. All aboard! Enough time. Okay. We did it! Milky is my new friend! Do y
ou know what train he went to? I think he's in the first cabin. But I have six people with me. I will get you six chais. What is your name? Katy. And your name? JP. That's easy. I told you short name. Easy to remember. Alright, we are going to get our friend JP some chais for his whole family. Because he saved my arm from getting cut off before going through our very first tunnel. Now he's not letting me get the chai. He said Shimla. Do you want cutlets? Ok. Do you want a cutlet? No problem. I
will get you. No! Stop! I'm the host. You are our guests. But you saved my life. That is true. At least I saved your hand. My filming hand. That is more than life. Thank you. One is enough. We can share. Oh no. Thank you. Are you sure? In Shimla we will get you chai. No problem. See you in Shimla sir. Alright, JP ended up getting us cutlets instead of us getting him chai. But he says in Shimla we can get him Chai. Let's see if he'll actually let us buy something for him later on. He saved my l
ife. Is that a video? Yeah yeah. It's okay? You can talk to each other. I will have a cutlet. Oh she's a natural. She's good at this. That's less than ten minutes. Wrong one! This is so less than ten minutes. Veg cutlets have become our go-to snack on trains. As we disembarked our train we said goodbye to our new friends that we made on our journey. The sun was setting and the rays shining on the Himalayan  Queen and through the rail station looked epic. We hopped in a taxi and made our way to
our accommodation. In our next video we will explore Shimla  and show you the foothills of the Himalayas. Thank you for watching this video. This is WITY TRAVELS. What could possibly be next?

Technically, the most scenic train route in India is the New Jalpaiguri - Darjeeling route, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage, but Kalka - Shimla is amazing too, especially during snow season.

@goranosis2

Now that is a different view of India!!! 😍😍😍😍😍 Amazing as always!

@northeastern_steamie

You're one of those handful of foreign visitors who have an experience of the special railway!❤ Congrats🎉

@MattWhitingsEurope

What an awesome looking train, both inside and out! Very traditional and loved the atmosphere in the carriage. Epic footage and views along the way, I think you may be right about it being the most scenic train in India. Everyone was really friendly and you got to hang out of the window - it's not a contender for best train ride if you can't do that!

@Will-jp4ti

Beautiful coverage of a lovely train journey! Thanks for sharing! We love to see our country from your perspective!

@souravghosh3310

Thanks for showing beautiful side of India. Western people mostly come with an agenda to show only bad roads, chaotic places, slums etc. ❤❤❤❤❤

@ankushchhillar29

It’s a off season in shimla , so i think you should head towards manali and leh that will be much more fun than shimla 🔥and don’t forgot to bargain there everyone will tell you 40-50% more price than the actual😅 i visited there few days back 😋

@csdcreations

Katy and Will what a cool 😎 train 🚂🚃 ride experience going up to Shimla. The people you met are fantastic a d you even got your hand 👏 saved by JP. I saw that coin purse 👛 you have. I guess you got it in Mexico 🇲🇽 because of the doll faced gal on it. I got my mom a hand bag similar to that one in Tlaquepaque next to Guadalajara, Mexico. 🙏🏻🇮🇳

@ashicomputer52
