Yes, hello and welcome to another vlog from BenalRida! Today we're testing out the Honda CB500 Hornet,  2024 model year. That is the new edition, meaning the old CB500F does not exist anymore  in this model year. So they replaced it with the Hornet. The front is a little bit different. We have a new suspension from SHOWA, we have a new display, which is very nice, we have turn-by-turn  navigation in the display finally, we have a nice sounding exhaust. Okay, we had that before already.  We have
traction control, pretty nice motorcycle, looks pretty nice, looks pretty sweet and we will get to  the controls and the display now. On the left-hand side we have the clutch lever, which is fairly  light, you can easily operate it, maybe even with one finger, that's no problem. Again, in the front  we have the light switch here for your index finger, which is pretty nice, we have the standard  low beam, we can switch it to high beam very easily, we can then pull it towards us for a quick flash
of the passing light. That is pretty nice and handy. We also have a new button here for the traction  control, we have a new joystick kind of button here for the display. We have a horn button here, we have  the left and right turn signal switch down below. That is everything on the left-hand side. Let's  get to the right-hand side. On the right-hand side we have the throttle of course, we have the  brake lever, adjustable in six positions. I think personally the brake lever feels a little bit
too soft for my liking, it should be a little bit tighter to make it feel a bit more sporty, and  give me a better sensation of safety. We also have an emergency cut-off switch here, we have a very big  and large button here for the hazard light, we have a starter button right here, and that's everything  on the right-hand side. So when it comes to the display we have a 5 inch TFT color display, which  is very, very nice, adjustable, it automatically adjusts according to the lighting conditions
, but  you can also adjust it manually. It's very bright, it's very crisp and clear. You can see everything  even in bright daylight and sunshine. Here you can see, we have three different types of displays  to display. Here we have the one with a bar graph for the RPM counter. On the left-hand side,  on the top here we have the symbols, various symbols for Bluetooth and connectivity, that it is  connected to your phone. On the right-hand side we also have a permanent display here of the  clock.
In the middle, very dominant, we have the speed, to the left we have a gear indicator and  to the left of that we have a fuel tank capacity indicator. Down below we have a data field, which  is actually customizable by you. On the right-hand side we have the info what you can do with the  display or what you can do with the joystick button, and how to get to the different  menus and settings. Down below in the display we can see the total mileage now. I switch it around  with the joystick butto
n, press it down, we have the actual fuel consumption, we have TRIP A,  TRIP B, and that's it. But as I said we can adjust these settings in the menu and we can  actually display something else there. To get into the menu, we press the right joystick  button here. We have three tabs basically, we can switch around the data fields here as you can  see. Then down below we can actually reset A and B, and down below we have the settings  menu. We have all the settings here. First of all we have FUNC
TION, we can adjust the shift point.  What it means is that you can basically set the RPM counter to when it will flash.  When you set it to 6,000 rpm, it will flash and tell you know that you should shift, TRIP A AUTO RESET  means that when you get gas at the gas station that it will reset automatically, and H.I.S.S - Honda  specific immobilization feature here, which you can turn on or off I suppose. In the display  we can select between the different display types, which are three. We have a
bar graph, which  I showed you, we have a circle graph. I can show you what it looks like. This is what the circle graph  looks like. We can also select a simple type, which is this one here and this is the one where you  don't see the RPM counter. Let's go back. I will switch it to my favorite, which is the bar graph  here. We can adjust the brightness of the display automatically or manually. We can adjust the  background, white, black or auto, depending on the lighting conditions. FAVORITE IN
FO, we can change  and customize all the data fields to your likings there, and that's everything here. Did I forget  anything? No, then we go into GENERAL, we have date and time, we can set up date and time, but if  you connect it to Honda Roadsync, you don't have to do this. It will transfer the date and time  automatically, we can adjust the units, language, restore default, BLUETOOTH PAIRING RESET is when  you want to pair a new phone or when the motorcycle is new and you want to pair it to
your phone,  and we have SERVICE, MAINTENANCE, EQUIPMENT, SYSTEM INFORMATION, you know about different settings  like resetting the oil, maintenance, mileage and stuff like that. That is all in here and that  is basically everything about the display. Pretty nice, handy, easy to read and as I said, finally  also with Honda Roadsync. I have it now connected and you can actually see turn-by-turn arrows in  the display for Honda Roadsync. I might as well activate that for you later on. I will get i
nto  Roadsync if I press it to the left for a longer period of time. As you can see we have  the navigation at the moment. I have not selected anything, so it does not show an arrow, although  it looks like an arrow, but it's not the arrow that you will see. You can check the weather or  check the weather at your destination and we can go into the CALL menu, we can go to MESSAGE, you can receive messages from WhatsApp or SMS, MUSIC, VOLUME for the Bluetooth headset, that is  everything here, and
if you have that selected you can always go back, if you press it for a longer  period of time to the right, and then it will go away and you have the full display again for  your viewing pleasure. That's everything about the display. So, yeah, we're back on the motorcycle here,  and let's get started here with our actual test ride of the CB500 Hornet. Let's go! So, I just had the navigation activated for  you, just so that you can see what it looks like, turn-by-turn indications on the display
.  I like it very much, that they have finally implemented that. At least turn-by-turn, because I  think Honda always says it's distracting, if you put a map on it, although I do like maps better.  I I think it's better for me to navigate with a map, where I can see the surroundings and  everything and what's coming up and stuff like that, but okay, they don't do it, maybe in 2  years time, but the display of course would be perfect for a map display, but okay, you cannot have  everything, but a
t least now we have the turn-by-turn and that is at least pretty good, that is  is pretty good, and so here are my impressions as I told you already about the seat, very soft,  I have to watch out for these guys now, yeah it has 17 inches in the front, 17 inches in the rear, so  it is a bit different than the NX500 that I previously test rode the other day basically,  and the NX500 has a 19 inch tire in the front, so it is more stable, it runs like on railroad  tracks through the corners. This o
ne is also very stable, don't get me wrong, but it feels more  agile, it feels more sporty, especially for the corners. You can flip it around much easier,  this one here, than the NX500. Of course they have different people they address and  that's what I understand, but I just wanted to give you my impression what they feel like,  and this one as I said is definitely much more agile than the NX500 and I think that's  because of the front tire, the smaller front tire. Yeah, what else do we have
? In this year of course we have ABS, we've always had ABS. Thank God, and also in this  year we now have traction control, which is very nice. We have the new 5 inch TFT display,  which is very, very nice ... oh so beautiful flowers ... and it is very crystal clear, you can see  everything in bright daylight, bright sunshine. Everything is clearly visible, very nice. The  mirrors are very nicely located, you can see everything in the rear, no problem whatsoever,  and what else? Well, we have co
nnectivity. We now have connectivity with  this display and it's fairly easy to operate. You can access your music on your  phone, you can access your phone, you can make phone calls, you can accept phone calls, you  have a voice search function. You don't necessarily still need the Bluetooth  headset, which I did actually put in there or I activated it for today, because  I thought I might need it. To navigate you don't necessarily need it. You can do  it through your phone and it is quite nice
. Okay, just push it around the corner, boy or girl! ... and yeah, that is the basic  functionality of the display I think. It is pretty nice, easy to operate. You can  adjust the data fields in the display, if you want to set it to something different,  or you want to have it display something else. Pretty nice. As I said the  handling is very good. It feels very sporty, very agile in the corners here and although I'm  an old grandpa riding and I know you might be laughing, but I do feel the di
fferences to other  motorcycles, so yeah, that is definitely noticeable and I do like it. I like it. I mean I like both  of them ... I like the NX500 now, because I just test rode it. I mean different kind of  people buy them you know and maybe for different purposes or different intentions  that they have. The seating position is also fairly straight up, not maybe not as straight  up as on the NX500, but still fairly straight up, so you don't have to worry about getting tired  or you know that
your hands are going to hurt or something after a while. I think that's still  acceptable and of course it depends on how long your arms are and everything. I mean I cannot  tell you how long my arms are. I can only tell you how tall I am. I am 175 cm or 5'9",  so I don't know, but for me it is basically a perfect fit. I mean most of the Honda motorcycles to  be honest are a perfect fit for me. I don't know why. Maybe the Japanese people have about  my size or so. I don't know, but it's definite
ly nice and usually when I get on a  Honda motorcycle I feel right at home already. So I don't really have to adjust anything or  that I wish I could adjust it differently or something like that. Everything is pretty  nice. I do like it very much. Another motorcycle, which passed the BenalRida TEST RIDE TEST. Nothing ...  nothing really to complain about on this one here. No, nothing really to complain about! Pretty nice motorcycle, if you're in the market for  a 500 cc motorcycle, no matter wha
t brand, look at this Honda CB500 Hornet  now. Also, if you look back on my video of the CB500F, model year 2022 or something,  which I tested, I also liked it very much. So, we're on the highway, freeway, autovia, whatever  you want to call it ... motorway ... we have so many names for this. Yeah, as I might have mentioned  before, naturally it is a naked motorcycle, street fighter kind of style motorcycle, so you have the full force of  the wind onto your body, coming onto your body. We have w
ind on your belly. You have a lot more  wind on your shoulders, but of course I cannot complain about this, because that's the style of the  motorcycle. If you don't like it, you can get an NX500 or get a different motorcycle or get a motorcycle with a higher  wind screen or something like that. So that is just the style of the motorcycle and I cannot really fault  it for that, but everything else, very nice, very stable at higher speeds here, you know, higher speeds,  but pretty nice. I can see
everything in the mirrors. The mirrors are also very nice. You can see  everything in them. The suspension seems to be very good. It is not really that hard, but I mean  you can still adjust it I think to your liking. It is adjustable, so no problem with that. I  think I can conclude ... difficult tongue twister here for me ... this test ride already of the very  nice and agile Honda CB500 Hornet, formerly known as CB500F. Now, it's CB500 Hornet, pretty nice motorcycle here.  I like it very muc
h. Two thumbs up or everything that I have up for this motorcycle. Thanks very much for watching. This is BenalRida. Take care and bye-bye!

Big up the grandpa riding 👍🏻

@joachimlindback

Thanks. Did you mention what tires? Road 6?

@findingneutral

Great review and tutorial. Did the new Hornet seem to have less vibration in the handlebars, seat, and foot pegs vs the other 500cc models in the Honda new lineup?
