e tell us what you do there at Hope Network in Holland um so in Holland we have a therapy so it's all individualized oneon-one treatment for individuals on the autism spectrum so they um they receive one-on-one treatment uh with uh Behavior technicians that are overseen by board certified Behavior analysts the treatment plans are designed uh with the families and in in line with what is best practice for their children what are some of the behaviors that um parents can notice than you're seeing
at the center with um kids with autism um oftentimes we're working on communication skills social skills and then there might be repetitive repeative uh interests and then there are you know behaviors that might uh be a response for a lack of ability to communicate or Express their wants or needs um and it can look in any variety of ways that you can imagine uh trying to get their their uh information across and you're the mother of a child with autis ISM so you know a lot about this um what are
some of the struggles that parents can go through you know it's hard uh to have a child where you feel like you can't quite meet all their needs and so you know I you know it's been wonderful that I've been in the field so I I know how to help teach my child and that's something that we do help with the parents that we work with is trying to give them uh skills to help teach their children how to learn uh CU learning might be a little bit different for them I can imagine that when parents find
Hope Network and this program they are probably um I don't know at a loss how do you welcome them in how do you tell them that everything's going to be okay you know it's it's it's always you know it's always a a difficulty for a parent when they first find out um and letting them know that you know although it might be a different pathway it does not have to be you know a a sad pathway they can be happy and celebrated um individuals with autism are awesome and amazing and their minds work in in
credible way ways and you know we just need to help them uh learn how to learn new skills and as soon as they start to fly you know it's amazing the things that they can do awesome and there's an open house tomorrow tell us about that yep uh we have an open house at our Holland location from 6:00 to 8 um you know we'd love to have the community come and celebrate with us all right Maggie Moore from Hope Network in Holland thank you so much for teaching us about this Center thank you
