it jumps out to you as particularly interesting then please leave a comment about that down below all right let's jump into the game out here we have the game fully set up and ready to play for our two different players now before I start I would like to ask that you please turn on the Klingon subtitles because I might make mistakes as I'm showing you the game and those will let me put Corrections on the screen where you should be able to see them and I will also put Corrections below this vide
o in the top comment I also want to point out that today I'm filming with a prototype version of the game that means the art components and rules may be different from the final version well let's start things off with a brief overview of the game in it each player is an investigator on a train heading to Constantinople everything was going fine until we started to hear chanting and suddenly the train was transported into the dreamlands it appears there are hidden cultists on this train and they
made this happen now in order for us to survive we need to figure out who those cultists are in order to stop the ritual and we have to survive this nightmarish Journey Through the dreamlands along the way terrifying monsters are going to be attacking us in a variety of different ways there's also an immortal vampire who is going from car to car attempting to kill passengers in addition to this as we move through the dreamlands we're going to flip more landscape tiles which will reveal new esse
nce portals as well as one-time events and in general these are all bad things that we are going to have to deal with as the train moves now as the investigators on our turn we get one main action and two basic actions and with these we are going to have to do a variety of things we can move around and talk to the various passengers on the train each of these is a passenger and they will give us clues about the suspects as you can see there are six Suspects on the train in addition to all of tho
se other passengers and one of these is Ely a cultist but up to five of them are cultists now the only way we win the game is by surviving until the train reaches the end of the track and correctly stating which of these six suspects are cultists if we reach the end of the track and to get this wrong we still lose in fact there are many ways that we can lose this game and only one way that we can win after each player is done with her turn we will reveal an event token from this bag and place it
over here this might cause various events to happen and I'll explain how all of those work while we're playing in fact I think at this point let's just jump into the game there is a lot I haven't talked about just yet but I will go through these as we are playing now this is a fully Cooperative game which means we are going to essentially play as both Katherina Kristoff and Bucky Burton now each of these are investigators and they have a specific set of skills that are customed to them there ar
e also a variety of basic actions that all of the players can do during setup we each got a general skill and we each got an attribute for example Katarina is a witchy chemistry professor and witchy means that we added an extra occult token to the event bag and this is going to be good for us we also have an eccentric retired Gunslinger eccentric just means we started with a random artifact item which is right up here with this shining trapezohedron again we get these during setup and it varies
up the game State a little bit at the beginning now our chemistry professor Katarina is going to take the first turn of the game so let's do it now on a player's turn they must perform one main action and they may perform up to two basic actions they can perform these basic actions before and or after they perform their main action and I think let's have them perform their main action first now when you do this you choose either a gold Cube at the bottom or this silver Cube if you use the silver
Cube it must go here and you perform the rest main action now this is not what we want to do right now so instead we're going to go with a gold Cube and we take the leftmost available one and we put it next to any of these skills that does not currently have a cube next to it I think we want to go here and per perform the fast talk main action we can focus in and it tells us exactly what we're going to do we are going to do a talk with a value of five with a Calum or happy passenger now wheneve
r an investigator performs an action it only has effect in the specific train car that they are in as you can see there are six of these Passenger cars and one locomotive meaning the train is seven cars long at the beginning of the game Katarina is over here in the second class sleeping car which means they can only talk with a passenger in this car now as you can see there is a suspect who might be a cultist in this car but that is not who we are going to be talking with instead we're going to
talk with a passenger now the passengers are represented with these cubes and each passenger can be one of six different statuses those are happy calm angry panicking wounded and finally possessed these look like dice but you don't roll them you just change their face as their status changes as you can see in Katarina's car there is a happy passenger and a wounded passenger now Katarina can only talk with a happy or calm passenger with this action so they're going to talk with this passenger her
e essentially what we're doing is chatting with this passenger to try and learn various things about these six suspects that are also on the train so let's begin talking and as I said this fast talking action is a talk value five action now we go through a number of steps in order when we talk and the first of these involves taking the conversation bag that is full of these tokens and we're going to draw a number of tokens out of the bag that equal the value of this action this is a talk value f
ive so we pull five tokens out of the bag and as you can see these tokens are either full icons or they are split icons like this now after revealing the number of tiles equal to the value of the action we take all of the split actions and put them back into the bag and this is essentially us starting the conversation with that passenger now we can talk with them and the way this works is we can randomly pull tokens out of the bag one at a time but we have to stop immediately if we pull two of t
hose split tokens that have the same icon on the top now obviously we have no split tokens right now so we should draw at least one more token out of the bag and we have found a feature token now in order to gain any benefit from these tokens here we must reveal two of them right now this is half of the ability to learn about a second class passenger half of the ability to learn about someone's destination and half the ability to learn about a feature on someone so currently we aren't getting an
ything from this action so let's draw another tile out of the bag this one is a split tile so we'll put this over here and once again if we pull another tile that has the same negative icon on top then we immediately stop the conversation and we just perform that negative effect and we get no positive effects now there are exactly two of each of these negative icons on split tiles in the bag so there is one token in this entire bag that would cause us to fail this conversation by pulling another
token so I think we are going to risk it we have found another split token now this is a different negative icon on top so it does not stop the talk but that means there are now two tiles in the bag that could cause us to fail this conversation currently we haven't learned anything good yet so I think let's continue to draw this time ooh we have found a second token that relates to a second class passenger this means if we stopped right now we would have a successful talk and we would learn one
thing about a second class passenger I think we can push our luck a little bit more though so let's draw another tile out of the bag and ooh nice it's a second feature token now inside this bag there are exactly three of each of these full oval tokens and again you need two of them to learn something so if you pull the third one you get no extra benefit from that I think we should probably stop this is a decent amount of information that we're getting from this conversation and every time we dr
aw another tile we get closer to failing the conversation by drawing a tile that matches one of these icons well this was a successful conversation with that passenger right over there and we can now learn something about a suspect that has a second class ticket with that in mind let's focus over here as you can see there are six Suspects on the train that might be cultists and again at least one of these is a cultist now there are first class suspects and second class suspects with three of eac
h the second class suspects are over here and those are the psychologist the mestra and the medium as you can see each suspect has between five and six clue tiles and when we move them aside you can see there are specific types under there so we randomly placed all of these out but we put them onto matching sides and we can now choose any one of the clue tiles on the board of a second class ticket suspect and flip it over I think let's start down here with the medium now as you can see they have
a tile that is flipped over and they have a QUEST card over here during setup we randomly picked two passengers and we randomly flipped over one of their desire Tokens The First Time a desire clue is flipped a QUEST card is pulled out of the deck and placed next to that passenger so we know that Fran Fletcher the medium desires to be in a car with another suspect that has a weird tattoo we haven't seen any weird tattoos just yet and it is worth noting that it is a basic action for us to complet
e these as long as the condition is met but by completing a quest we reveal all of these tiles and if that suspect turns out to be a cultist then fulfilling their desires is going to be very bad for us however if they are not a cultist then we'll get a nice benefit and because of this I want to learn more about the medium to see if they are a cultist or not to know if we should try to pursue satisfying this desire they are a second class passenger so let's choose one of these tokens and flip it
over and I think let's go with the ticket now this tells us where that suspect is going we can flip it over and it says Constantinople now there is another thing to point out and that's the fact that there is a purple background to this tile because that background can either be brown or purple now the purple background is an oul background and the more purple Clues a suspect has the more likely it is they are a cultist now let's talk about how a suspect becomes a cultist there are three differe
nt ways the first is one of the features in the game is simply The Blood Red Fez the suspect who has this is guaranteed to be a cultist one of the features H has this and that's why we know that one of these suspects is a cultist but we don't know how many are going to be of the second or third type now the third type is simple if a suspect has four or more occultt background Clues then they are a cultist and the second type says if the suspect is traveling to Constantinople either with an occul
t background or not and they have this goblet desire while also not having an sign feature then they are a cultist now the game comes with a pad of clue sheets and it shows all of the various clue faces that are in the game we have just revealed a occult Constantinople clue which means we can cross this off or block it with the generic token we did this to make it easier to know what tiles are still flipped face down on the passengers well we've used these but we also get to learn about a featur
e on any of the suspects and you know what I think let's learn more about this medium to see just how many ult back rounds they have on their board the medium has two feature tiles so let's flip this one over and it is a brass doorknob this is not an occult background so that's good to see and we can see that icon down there this means in the future we can talk to the medium about that brass door knob and when we do that we will reveal a card from the deck and learn something about it we are sti
ll unfortunately far from knowing if the medium is a cultist if they have three more occult backgrounds then they would be a cultist as well as if either of the these desires are the Goblet and that feature is not an ER sign then that would make them a cultist as well so I think it's a good idea to learn more about this suspect sooner rather than later but for now we are done learning about these Clues we of course don't learn anything about the destination of any of the suspects because we did
not pull a second one of those tokens now the other thing that happens after a successful talk is we gain the bottom benefit of one of the split tokens that came out of the bag in this case they happen to have the same effect but there are a few of them so we can choose this one or that one each of these gives us one occult token which is a shared resource between all of the players so we can put that right over here these are definitely good to have and now we can finish the talk by placing all
of these tokens back into the conversation bag all right Katarina is done with their fast talk main action and now they may do up to two basic actions each of those is printed over here on this tile and as you can see there are six options at the top and then one down at the bottom that is separated now the top six are the same for all of the investigators and the last one is unique to this specific investigator in this case the chemistry professor each of these will cost us one stamina and one
of our two basic actions I think let's start by changing the curtain situation on Katarina's current car as I said each of these costs one stamina so we lower Katarina's stamina by one as you can see they have a maximum stamina of seven this blocker is right here stopping it going further and it is possible through various effects for this maximum to decrease or increase after that Katrina is going to open or close the curtains in their car and as you can see at the start of the game this secon
d class sleeping car has closed curtains this means for that basic action they open the curtains by sliding that over now there are reasons for and against having open curtains the reason I think we should do this is because the vampire is quite close by and the vampire is a lot less effective when light can come through these open curtains the problem is there are terrifying monsters outside of this train so if those monsters are over here and the windows are open then the passengers can see th
ose monsters and worse things happen fortunately the second class sleeper is further to the front and monsters enter from the back so I think opening the curtains is a good idea to lower the possibility of a successful vampire attack since the monsters aren't particularly close yet that was one basic action and Katarina can do one more and I think let's have them spend a stamina in order to move up to two times when an investigator moves they simply go to an adjacent car on the overall train wit
h this move of two Katarina is going to to head to the sanctuary car and then over here into the first class sleeping car now I do want to point out that each of these cars in the back have eight spots in them whereas the locomotive at the front has four and the relative position within the car has no impact on the overall game all right Katarina is done moving and they've also done a main action and they're optional up to two basic actions so this means they are done with the action part of the
ir turn and the next thing they have to do is draw one random event token from this B bag you always draw one of these at the end of your turn unless an effect tells you not to in this case they have drawn a vampire event token now this is how the vampire activates but it doesn't happen quite yet as you can see there are these four icons over here and there are Pips on the outside this is 1 2 3 and four well the vampire tokens have two Pips on the side so we place it on the two pip spot at this
point if three out of these four had at least one token on them then we were going to perform events starting at the top and working our way down and if this is on the top of the vampire stack when that happens then at that point the vampire will activate for now we just know a vampire activation is likely going to be happening in the future but of course no event happens because there are three open spots on the track there are also special and instant tokens that come out of the bag and we'll
be talking about those as we see them after drawing an event tile and potentially performing those events the final thing a player does on their turn is they move the train forward one step on this track if the train moves on to a location that overlaps with one of these face down landscape tiles then we would flip it over and do things depending on what is revealed on that tile all right it's now time for Bucky Burton to take their turn once again they are an eccentric retired Gunslinger they'v
e decided to begin with a main action and they are going to go with trailblazing this says they can remove one Essence from a portal on a current landscape and then they may return a discarded train event token to the bag to remove another Essence from that portal now we haven't actually discarded any train tokens just yet so they're not going to be doing the bottom part but they will do the top letting them remove one Essence from a current landscape as I mentioned before these are landscape ti
les and a landscape tile is current if any part of it overlaps with where the train currently is so this is the only current landscape and as you can see there are two portals on it this portal is always active but this one begins the game with three Essence on it now if a portal has no Essence on it then it does not activate so if we remove all three of these that would be great also removing Essence helps us save off losing the game because if we ever have no Essence in the supply then we imme
diately lose there are 27 Essence over here though so we're far from that happening but as I said Bucky can remove one Essence from a current landscape so they will remove this that doesn't have an immediate impact but it means we have just two Essence left to potentially remove in order to stop that Portal from activating portals activate potentially during events and again I'll talk about that once we see it happen that's finished a quick main action for Bucky and then they're going to do two
basic actions the first one they're going to do is banish as you can see this is the retired Gunslinger special basic action and it lets them banish one monster now whenever an investigator does an action it relates to the car they are in and Bucky is currently in the salon now as you can see there is a monster next to the salon car in particular this is a Reaver so in this case Bucky banishes that Reaver which means we we remove the Weaver from the board and we place it into limbo limbo is righ
t down here and this is good for now but it is merely pushing a problem off to the Future the reason for that is because the last thing we do when we perform an event is we take all monsters from limbo and we place them back out onto the board so we will see this Reaver again sooner rather than later of course this basic action cost one stamina and then for their other basic action they want to use their train cars action when we focus on the entire train we can see that some of these cars have
actions printed on them now we reveal these during setup the one on the locomotive is always active and then we randomly flip three of these six cars to the active side this does not change as we're playing the game so in this play the salon first class sleeping car and second class sleeping car have car basic actions that we can perform when our investigator is in that car in this case Bucky is in the salon and that effect says they can Target one angry or panicking passenger and calm them ther
e are a couple of angry passengers in the salon so they're going to calm this angry passenger here that just means we find the calm face we put it like that and calm passengers are definitely better than angry passengers this of course costs one of their stamina and that's finished both of their basic actions that being said I do want to briefly point out the other train actions that we have in this play in the first class sleeping car if you perform a train action there you gain one of these oc
cult tokens for all of the players again these are good and I'll explain why soon in the second class sleeping car you can restore one stamina remember it takes one stamina to do a basic action so this essentially lets you gain two stamina overall lastly the locomotive says you can change the speed of the Train the train starts with a speed of one and this speed does not change the number of spaces the train moves on the track at the bottom of the board that is always once at the end of every pl
ayer turn however as we increase the speed of the train we're going to put more of these instant train movement tokens into the event bag which will will cause us to end up moving faster on the track and we can also lower the speed of the train but it's worth noting if the speed ever hits zero we instantly lose because of course if this train stops moving in the Dreamland it's bad for everyone on board now we are never going to set it to zero but one of the monsters can make that happen so we ha
ve to keep that in mind if we think a monster is about to slow down the train we might want to run up here and speed it up with a basic train action as I said Bucky is done with their actions so it's time for them to pull an event token and it is a passenger event token it has three Pips on it so we put it on the three pip spot and once again in this moment if three of these had at least one tile in them we would perform an event that isn't the case just yet but we're getting quite close to that
happening soon finally the train moves forward once at the end of Bucky's turn one more movement is going to reveal this landscape tile so we'll definitely be seeing that at the end of Katarina's turn which is coming up now well Katarina can take their turn and we don't have to start with the main action but I think we're going to again let's have them do a lecture this is the second time they're going to be talking again it's very important we figure out which of the suspects are cultists lect
ure is the chemistry professor's starting skill with a talk action the fast talk we saw earlier was the General skill they picked up during setup now lecture says they can do a talk three with a calm or happy passenger and then you may move yourself with any number of happy and calm passengers to an adjacent car I guess you start talking to them and they follow you into the next car as the lecture continues so let's perform a talk three with this column passenger right there this means we draw t
hree tiles out of the bag and then we put all split tiles back in the bag but we didn't draw any so that is a really good start for this conversation well let's start to push our luck let's draw a tile and it is a split if we draw another one with this lose sanity icon we will fail this conversation but again there's only one of those in the bag so the odds are really low and oh that lets us flip a desire clue again only if we get at least two of them so we have four different kinds of these ful
l ovals but no pairs yet let's push our luck again and we found a second class well that is what we want CU I really want to figure out if that Medium is a cultist but we've only pulled one split token so far so let's draw another one okay that is another split token which is a little worrisome that would make this passenger angry if we pulled another angry split token let's dig one more time though push our luck a little bit and oh no that's a match that was really unfortunate there were only t
wo tiles in the bag that would cause this to be a failed conversation but that's what just happened so we don't get any benefit from these and now we just suffer the penalty on the matching split tile we don't get these benefits either that one would have let us draw a new item from this deck if we had done a successful talk but of course we didn't now this forces Katarina to lose one sanity and when we do this we remove the leftmost token now as you can see Katarina started with six sanity toke
ns five of them were normal and one is a hyperfocus the hyperfocus token comes into play when it comes to casting occultt spells which I will talk about soon now sanity is very important because if at any time any of the inspectors loses their last sanity that is one of the many ways that we immediately lose the game we also need to spend our sanity in order to perform those occult spells which I do want to do soon so losing this is definitely unfortunate well we're done with that lecture we don
't want to move and for basic actions we still have a lot of options one of those is we could use one item that we have already as I mentioned before because of our eccentric retired Gunslinger we started with this shining trapezohedron artifact as I said we could do a basic action to use this item and then it is discarded now this says we can choose one portal and move all Essence from any chosen landscape to that portal essentially letting us manipulate the essence in the landscape I don't thi
nk we need to do that just yet though we could also spend this occult token to learn an occultt spell but I think it's a little early for that as well I think what we should do is interact with a suspect every time you see that icon that means suspect and every time you see that icon that means a player investigator this basic action uses one of their stamina and then they can interact with any suspect that is in their car currently it is just the crime book writer now whenever we interact with
a suspect we choose one of four different options the first of these options is we can fulfill their Quest this is the crime book writer over here and we could only complete a quest if they had one and remember they will get a quest the first time we've reveal one of their desire Clues our second interact option is we could talk about a feature that that suspect has of course the crime book writer currently does not have any features revealed the third option is we could throw a confirmed cultis
t off the train this kills the cultist but we can only do this if we have fully confirmed they are a cultist based off of the clues that we have already revealed after killing the cultist we remove a ritual token from the ritual mat we haven't put any down here just yet but we'll see that soon now there is one last option and that is we can use a favor action of that suspect as long as it is available each suspect has a favor printed on their card and as soon as you use the favor you flip it ove
r to show that you cannot use that favor again until you find a way to flip this back now you can flip this back primarily by performing this icon that shows up as a split token bonus from successfully talking with a passenger so Katarina is going to interact with the crime book writer and use their favor action which says we can move Z which is this suspect to a chosen car and then reveal any clue of another chosen suspect in that car I still want to learn about the medium so I think we are goi
ng to send the crime book writer all the way up to the fergon which happens to be the front car on the train and then we can flip one clue token on my estra mat let's go with the last feature over here and it's a fake beard now we can't actually talk to them about the fake beard with an interact action you can only do that when that symbol shows up but importantly this is not an elder sign it's also not a cult so what this means is if either of these two desires ends up being this goblet then th
ey are a cultist because they're heading to Constantinople and they do not have an Elder Sign feature this also means they cannot be a cultist for the third option because there is no way for them to have four occult tiles but again we're not out of the woods just yet with the medium after using the crime book writers favor we flip that tile over and then let's have Katarina perform that second basic action this will cost one stamina and they will now perform their specific basic action that onl
y the chemistry professor has this says we can choose any investigator and place one of their golden cubes next to one of their skills I think Katarina is going to Target themselves and they're going to put this Cube there now this means we cannot actually perform this field experiment main action because this spot is blocked but it also means that Katarina has removed more of these cubes that becomes important when we finally see the rest action the more of these Chevrons that are opened up whe
n a rest action happens the more benefits we will get so essentially they are spending their stamina to make a future rest action more lucrative for themselves all right they're done with actions so it's time to see an event tile and oh it is an occult tile it has four Pips on it so we put it down here and when we focus in you can see that three out of these four spots do have at least one token on them that means right now we perform events for the first time in the game we begin at the top and
work our way down and we do perform the effects on the spot that does not have a tile so not only does the tile being placed mean something but it also blocks another action that could have happened in this case the monsters are going to activate in particular every green monster will activate then one of the blue monsters activates and then finally all red monster summoning portals will summon a red monster so let's begin with all of the green monsters activating and as you can see there is ju
st one of them now these green monsters are called howlers and we can look at this card to see what the Monster does when they activate in particular there are three different conditions we start at the top and as soon as a condition is met we perform those effects and we do not move further the first option is called jab and it says if the howler is next to a car with at least one passenger in it so that's at least one cube with any status effect on the top then it will perform that jab and tha
t is the case there's actually two passengers in this car so it Jabs now the next thing it does is checks to see if the curtains are open we've already seen that we can close the curtains and open them if we want to and in this case if the curtain is open then one panicking or injured person in that car will be killed by the howler essentially they reach through the open window and kill somebody of course the windows are not open and in fact if the windows were open there still would not be an e
ffect because there are no panicked or injured passengers currently in this car we can see there's actually a calm passenger and a possessed passenger once again the curtains aren't open so we would not go further on this line anyway then we move down it says that this howler moves one car forward on the train and then in that next car it will Target one calm happy or angry passenger in that car and make them Panic so the howler moves one car forward and there are two passengers in here they eac
h qualify so we can choose which one will be panicked and I think we'll make this angry passenger panicked of course that means the next time the howler activates if the curtains are open that howler will jab Through the Windows and kill this panicked passenger now whenever a passenger is killed we place a a coffin directly over that pasture and we leave it there for the rest of the game this is important because we lose the game immediately if seven passengers are killed the primary way that pa
ssengers are killed is by the vampire killing them and I'm going to explain that very soon so that howler is done activating although I do want to point out what would have happened if there had been no passengers in the car it was next to in that case we'd look down here and again it would say if it's in a car with no passengers it would move forward twice and then obviously is the case there are three passengers in that car so it is going to absorb now the first thing that happens is every one
of the investigators in that car loses one sanity but fortunately we are not in that car we are in the salon and the first class sleeping car so none of us lose sanity but then one passenger in that car becomes possessed there's currently a happy calm and panicking passenger and we can choose one of these to become possessed and I think we're going to have the panicking passenger become possessed the final thing the absorb does is all of the possessed passengers in that car move one car forward
so this possessed passenger moves into the salon which is very full in fact all eight of these spots are full now that's fine for now but if anything ever moves into a car that is full you have to make room for that by moving one passenger from the full car to the other car that was just exited and that passenger that moved away becomes possessed regardless of the status they were at before these passengers really don't like being kicked out of a car that absorber is done with their action but
I do want to point out what would have happened if there been no passengers in that car in this case they would have simply glided one car forward and the last option is if the absorber was at the locomotive when it started the activation it would add one Essence to every active portal in the landscape right now that would just add an Essence to this portal here but we are going to be seeing more of them soon and remember if all of these are gone we lose the game so that's it for the monster att
acks we haven't seen a Reaver attack just yet and let's take a look at what it would do right now before we move on just because we've already talked about the other monsters that are in the game as you can you can see if the Reaver is next to a car with at least one passenger then all of the investigators in that car lose one stamina from this slash then one happy passenger in that car becomes injured but if there are no happy people in the car then any passenger dies instead if the Reaver is n
ext to a car with no passengers it moves twice forward and lastly if it activates while it's at the locomotive it reduces the train speed by one and this is how we could lose the game by having the train hit zero speed so if a Reaver ever gets close to the front of the TR TR we might need to head up there and try to deal with that Reaver or increase the speed of the train to counteract the Reeve action that it might be about to do all right we've seen all of the green monsters activate and then
one blue monster activate and finally this activates all of the summoning portals specifically for red monsters currently there's only one monster summoning portal it's this one over here and it is always active that will summon any of the monster types of course red is one of those so this is going to summon one Reaver which means we take it from the supply and we put it next to the last car on the train now if there were multiple portals that summoned reavers we would put one Reaver here the n
ext one there and so on as we go up the train now I do want to point out that if you go to summon a monster and there are none of that figure left then you summon the next Monster over these are in an order that was randomized at the start of the game if at any point all of the monster figures are on the board you guessed it the game immediately ends with a loss for the investigators well we finished that monster activation and remember this event happens as soon as three three of these four are
covered so there will always be one of these that is open as you can see there are two others that activate a bunch of monsters if this is the one that's open then the monsters don't activate so that's kind of nice okay moving down it's time for the vampire to activate so let's focus over here now the vampire activates differently depending on if it's in a car with closed curtains or open curtains it's a lot less effective in a car with open curtains because of course vampires do not like sunli
ght we can see the vampire is currently hanging on the side of this car which does have open curtains so that means we only look at the bottom row now what we do is starting at the left and going over we check the passengers in that car to see if one qualifies the first thing to check is are any of the passengers in that car injured if that was the case then the vampire would kill them there are no injured passengers in that car so we move on here if there is a panicked passenger in the car the
vampire will injure them and that is the case so this panicked passenger becomes injured and that finishes the vampire's attack of course if there had been no panicking passengers in that car but there was a possessed passenger then nothing would have happened the same thing can be said if there are no passengers in the car because none of these will match in either of those cases it is not a successful attack and we proceed to having the vampire move however if the vampire is successful in an a
ttack and it was we then remove the leftmost tile and as you can see this strengthens the vampire so next time the vampire is in an open curtain car with a panicked person they will kill that panicked person instead of just injuring them so the more often the vampire successfully connects with an attack the stronger it gets I do want to point out that these are double tiles over here and you remove the top one before removing the bottom one after attempting an attack the vampire moves now it has
event tokens that move to the right or the left this one happens to show a rightward movement icon which means the vampire tries to move to the right specifically to a car that has at least one passenger now the vampire does not go to the locomotive so there are no valid cars to the right which means the vampire look to the left that means they'll go here because there are indeed passengers in that car the curtains are open because we had Katarina open them earlier which of course lowers the ef
fectiveness of this vampire that being said there is an injured person in there already and even with the curtains open that vampire will kill an injured person when it activates that won't happen until the next vampire activation though and we can now move on to the passenger event remember this only happens if there is a tile there up here there would have been a train portal event it specifically looks like this with that one pip so if that had been there we would perform this but of course w
e did not have that in this first series of events so when we do a passenger event we draw the top card from this passenger deck we put it on top of the discard pile and then do what it says in this case it is a growing Panic amongst the passengers on the train it says in each of the cars with three or more passengers of any status one calm or happy passenger becomes panicked and then that panicked passenger moves to the left currently we only have one car that has three three or more passengers
in it it actually has six passengers in it so let's have this calm passenger become panicked and then they head over here to the left now this isn't great because we check these cars from the start of the train going back and now the dining car has three passengers because that passenger ran back here this is the growing Panic that's happening from Panic passengers rushing around now there are at least three passengers in the dining car so one calm or happy passenger becomes panicked and then t
ries to move to the back so this calm person becomes panicked because that panicked person ran into the car this newly panicked person tries to move to the left but they're at the back car so they instead move to the right once again filling that spot in the salon okay we finished checking all of the cars which means we can move to the ritual token event this is very simple we take one ritual token from the supply and we place it over here onto the ritual mat now the ritual is activated by a tok
en in the event bag that we have not seen just yet and its strength depends on the ritual tokens on the mat as well as the number of possessed passengers on the train so putting this here means when this ritual is performed it will be more effective for the cultists so putting these down is definitely not a good thing for us moving on from here the final thing we do in the event is we take all of the monsters that are currently in limbo and we place them at the back car of the train there is no
limit to the number of monsters next to a car so as you can see there are now two reavers and an absorber at the dining car which is at the back of the train well the last thing we do after activating events is we take the topmost tile from each of these stacks and we put it into the discard pile it's certainly possible that we could have drawn multiple tiles onto a stack before we activated these which means at this moment there could still be tiles out here because there was at least two that
wasn't the case here though there was already a bunch of tiles over here in the discard and as soon as this draw bag is empty we take all of the discarded tiles and put them back into the bag now before we move on I do want to point out that each time we draw a tile out of the bag we have the option of spending one of our occult tokens in order to return that tile to the bag and then draw another one we can do this any number of times of course spending an Ault token each time we could immediate
ly draw that tile back again but it just gives us another shot at maybe not pulling the worst tile in the bag for us in that moment I didn't think it was worth spending our token right now though and the events are done the final thing that happens on Katarina's turn is the train moves forward one and by doing that it now overlaps with a new landscape when this happens we flip the landscape over and see what happens this is insane momentum now this is specifically a portal that has a train effec
t once again during events if this is one of the events that happens then that activates every one of the train effect portals on any of the Landscapes as long as there's at least one Essence on top of it so this is how that might happen now as soon as we reveal a portal of any kind we always put one Essence on top of it and then we count the number of possessed passengers on the train in this case we have one two three and for each of these we put an Essence onto a portal on the newly revealed
landscape tile so as you can see the more possessed people on the train the quicker we're going to go through all of this Essence in the supply now this tile just has one portal so we put all three of them on there if it was a tile with multiple portals we would evenly stack these tokens on putting the remainder to the right so this insane momentum has four Essence tokens on top of it and when it activates we will move the train forward one space for each possessed passenger on the Orient Expres
s now you might be thinking that's not that bad obviously we need to get to the end of this track to win the game but if we reach the end of the track without losing in another way we of course then have to point out every single cultist and if we don't we lose the game also as this train barrels across the landscape it's going to flip new landscape tiles and every time we flip landscape tiles we're going to put more Essence onto those depending on the number of possessed people on the train so
it's very likely if we don't do something about this we will lose the game long before we reach the end because we've run out of essence on all of these portals that's a long way of saying this is a problem but there's a lot of problems for us to handle as we are barreling through the dreamlands all right it's time for Bucky to take their turn and I think let's have them start with a basic action this will cost one stamina and they are going to move up to two cars I think let's have them move to
the back car that has three monsters adjacent to it now let's have them do another basic action spending a stamina to banish one of those monsters and I think we'll banish this absorber here it will go into Li and we won't see it again until another event happens which is going to be a little while and then for their main action let's have them perform spot hidden when we focus in it says they can reveal a chosen feature of a suspect that is currently in their car currently only the chef is in
the same car as the Gunslinger so they're going to spot a clue feature on the chef which means we reveal any of these three and I think we'll reveal this one oh okay this is an occult tile but more importantly it is The Blood Red Fez and as I mentioned before the three ways a suspect is a cultist are if they have the Fez or if they have four or more oul tiles or if they're going to constant with a goblet and don't have an Elder Sign well as we can see there's a blood red fed right here so the ch
ef is guaranteed to be a cultist and when we focus in there's a special exclamation point icon next to the interact icon now normally when a feature has an icon like that you can spend a basic action to talk to them about this draw a card that matches that specific icon and learn about that Fe feature however in this case that red exclamation point means as soon as the Red Fez is spotted we immediately learn about that feature now again this works the same way as if we spent a basic action to as
k a suspect about a feature for example if we had done that with this brass doorknob we would find this deck of feature cards here we would then look through it until we found the doorknobs and as you can see there are two of them we'd Shuffle these up and choose one of course that's not what happened here instead we just spotted that Fez as you can see there is just one of the Red Fez card so this is the one you always read as soon as that Fez is spotted let's focus in on it at the top it says
the moment you learn about The Fez a Gravely timed realization Dawns on you catching the leader red-handed or red-headed is a great feat of detective work but knowledge is just the first step now is the time to act on it when we look to the bottom of the card it says we choose one option we can publicly get rid of The Fez wear sending a direct message of Violence by throwing them off the train if we do that we will read script card one instead we could quietly keep an eye on them with the intent
of reducing overall possible harm and if we do that we add this number two script event token to the event discard pile that's right over here and of course as soon as we go through all the tiles we'll put those into the bag and eventually we'll likely pull this tile out and only in that moment will we read script 02 and depending on the situation various things could happen either beneficial or terrible now I don't think we want to chance it I think we should push this cultist off the train ri
ght now and not keep an eye on them they are way too dangerous this means we have to read card one and for that we look through this set of script cards as you can see there are multiple card ones so we have to choose one of these and this is the one that we drew this says that we remove one ritual token from the ritual which is great we have not seen a ritual just yet but again these power up the ritual so that is going to make it less impactful after that we move oursel to the car with the Fez
owning suspect of course we are in that car already in this case now we're going to reveal every clue that was on that suspect and then remove that suspect from the game because of course they've been removed from the train so the chef de cuisine is gone and we can flip all of these over they were heading to Belgrade they had a talking parrot and a weird tattoo and they had a desire to be in a car with at least five passengers none of this really matters because they are gone however we can rem
ove these from our deduction sheet including the Blood Red Fez so that we have a better idea of what is still out there finally in our car and all adjacent cars every panicking angry or happy passenger becomes calm now happy is better than calm so that's unfortunate for this passenger here but calm is a lot better than panicking it also hits adjacent cars so these two happy people become calm and so does this angry passenger and this panicking passenger here overall I think that was for the best
of course this suspect is gone and now there are just five suspects left now it's possible that none of them are cultists again to be a cultist they have to match up with either two or three because one has happened already I think the odds of that are pretty low it's also technically possible that four out of these five could be cultists and I hope that's not the case all right we are done with these cards and Bucky is done with actions so they now draw one tile from the event bag and they hav
e found oh this is an instant event that specifically that immediately gives us one occult token and because it's blue with those arrows around the side we put this into the discard pile and immediately draw another token so we gain an occult token we now have two of them and we draw once again oh we found another one of these this moves the train forward once which isn't necessarily a good thing and it's blue so we once again draw another tile from the bag before we do that though I once again
want to reiterate that the train moves forward once after every player's turn regardless of the speed but when we increase the speed of the train we put two of those tokens into the bag so in this way there's more of these tokens to pull out of the bag which means that speed does essentially correlate to moving the train faster through the dreamlands when we lower our speed we actually pull two of those tokens back out of the event system all right third times is the charm this turn and okay the
y found a passenger event tile they'll put that right here matching the three Pips finally Bucky ends their turn by moving the train forward once we are one step away from revealing another landscape tile all right it's time for casarina to take another turn and they're going to start with a basic action specifically their chemistry professor action that lets any investigator put a golden cube next to one of their skills I think they're going to put this Cube here and then let's have Katarina pe
rform another basic action specifically this one here they spend one stamina to then spend one occult token and learn a new occult spell so their stamina goes down to two they spend one of our communal occult tokens and now three of these spells are drawn from the top of the deck and they'll choose one of these to put face up into this spell book and those spells can be cast by players as soon as they learn the occult spell skill which I'll be talking about soon these are the three potential spe
lls and the first one is pretty impactful it's called really gone truly gone when you cast the spell you remove the last car from the game that means everything on that car is gone for good and for bad if there's a bunch of monsters next to that car they are also removed back to the supply now you'll notice there is a hyperfocus effect down here every time we cast an ult spell we have to spend one sanity and if that sanity happens to be a hyperfocus sanity you perform the effects on the bottom i
n that case you can actually choose the car that gets removed from the game we also have Bloody implosion this is a very strong effect that's not great for the passengers you have to choose one happy or calm passenger and you injure them essentially imploding part of their body but then you push all of the monsters in that car now we haven't talked about push just yet and let's do that now the push action affects monsters that are in your car and you push them towards the back of the Train the n
umber that is on that action of course that Bloody implosion said push plus zero so it has no push by itself but you also add to that the speed of the train now of course that's always going to be one cuz if it's zero the game is over so so that means in this case it would be one plus Zer and that would push all of the monsters back one car and if you ever push monsters beyond the back car on the track you return them to the supply which is much better than putting them in limbo where they will
only temporarily be before they come back out so you essentially explode some part of a passenger and use that to push those monsters away the last option is Blasphemous versus it says you can remove one monster from anywhere just putting them back into the supply and if you hyperfocus you can also remove a monster from every car that has a possessed passenger now Katarina has to choose one of these and I think they're going to go with Blasphemous versus these other two spells are put to the bot
tom of the spell deck well katerinas performed two basic actions but no main actions yet and for their main action they are going to rest now once again this uses the silver token over here not the golden tokens and they can now perform all of these things from the top going down the first says for every Chevron revealed on their action track they can upgrade one of their used skills or learn a new skill or use their Lucid skill Katarina currently has two revealed Chevrons so they can make this
Choice twice and once again the first option is upgrading a skill now as you can see these are icons in the top left and for all of that inspector's unique skills it shows this level one icon down here this is a general skill as I've shown before and this does not have an upgradeable icon it just has that one pip now when you upgrade you choose a skill that has a golden cube next to it so in this case lecture field experiment or rationalization and then you find the matching upgrade that's on th
e side of your board and you replace the original tile with the upgraded tile each of these upgrades still does what the original skill did but it does it better in a variety of different ways for example if you upgrade lecture you do a talk four instead of three so you drop more out of the bag and when you move to another car it could be any type of Passenger not necessarily calm or happy passengers so once again they have five upgrades available but another thing they can do is add a new skill
you might have noticed there are two empty spaces here these can be filled with skills and in fact if you have eight skills already you can replace one of the skills you have with a new one later on in the game each of the investigators has three skills that can be added that do not have upgrades associated with them for example Katarina has replication paradigm shift and falsification this replication is a skill that says you can use any profession skill of another investigator in your car so
Katarina could replicate this banish skill right here if they were in the same car as the retired Gunslinger paradigm shift is also very powerful you can remove all creatures in limbo if you have a lot of ways to banish creatures and then use paradigm shift after that that could be a really good way to take care of those creatures falsification is interesting too that lets you name a clue and you then reveal a chosen clue and if it's the named clue then all of the investigators in that car gain
one sanity now there's actually one last skill that you can add and all of the investigators have this skill as an option that is the occult spell skill and as you can see you cast a chosen spell from the spell book using your leftmost sanity token and you lose that token this is indeed what Katarina wants to do with the first Chevron specifically because they went ahead and learned the spell placing it into the spell book over here so they'll add the occult spell skill to their board and they s
till have one Chevron left so with that they could upgrade or add another skill or they could activate their Lucid skill during setup each of the players chose a lucid skill in this case katerinas says they can turn a possessed passenger into an injured passenger injured is a lot better than possessed as we've seen because those possessed passengers can add extra Essence when we reveal new landscape tiles and also power up the ritual which we have not seen just yet and I'm sure we will see soon
I do think it's worth it for Katarina to spend their other Chevron performing this Lucid skill whenever you get the opportunity to lower the number of possessed passengers on the train it's usually a good idea so yeah this passenger is no longer possessed they are just injured which is still not great but definitely better than being possessed well Katarina has used both of their Chevrons so now they restore five stamina this is part of the reason they decided to do two basic actions before the
main action of resting because now when they add five to two they go up to their maximum of seven if they had done this before they perform basic actions they would end their turn with less stamina the final thing they do for resting is place all of their cubes back into their spots all right Katarina is done resting and they're done with all their actions which means it's time to pull another event token out of the bag and this one one is the ritual as you can see this token has a green backgro
und this is a special event token it does not get placed over here and it does not cause us to draw another tile but what it does do is cast the ritual in particular Crazy Train which is the one we're playing with today so let's focus over here and see what happens with the ritual we can see in the bottom left we resolve the visible incantation and investigators may spend any number of occult tokens for each occult token that we spend we reduce the ritual power for this incantation by one we do
currently have one occult token to use and then we add to that the number of possessed passengers on the Orient Express this is another big reason why I wanted to use that lucid skill to lower the number of possessed passengers the less possession going on the lower the strength of this ritual and as you can see we are down to just two possessed passengers it was three just minutes ago this means the ritual power is two and now we can read the incantation that's happening this is eldrich Whisper
s And it says that each of the investigators loses one sanity then each investigator loses another sanity for every two ritual power points there are and finally one panicking passenger becomes possessed whenever we lose sanity we lose the leftmost one so this is gone and so is that that was the base loss of Sanity but then we also each lose one for every two ritual power points there are and there is two ritual power points going on so we could spend this occultt token to lower that power to on
e which means it would not be enough for us to lose another sanity each and I think that makes sense San is very important especially because Katarina is going to start using their sanity to cast occult spells so let's spend this occult token to lower that ritual power from two down to one which means we do not remove any more sanity finally we find the furthest forward panicking passenger and they're right here and they become possessed that's really unfortunate we only have one panicking passe
nger if we had no panicking passengers then we would not gain another possessed passenger but that's not the case here they do become possessed and we now have three possessed passengers on the train finally we remove this incantation and flip the next one so you always know what is coming the next time a ritual happens the next one is nocturnal Crescendo it says for each ritual PowerPoint we discard the leftmost vampire strength tile and a panicking passenger becomes possessed so that really st
rengthens the vampire every time you remove these tokens the vampire gets better at killing passengers regardless of whether the curtains are open or closed in their car now again this mostly matters because if seven passengers die total then we lose the game and the vampire can definitely kill a lot of passengers so far though none of the passengers are dead so that's not really a pressure point I'm not too particularly scared of this incantation there are certainly other incantations that coul
d hit us much harder in our current situation well the ritual is done so we can put that onto the discard pile and finally the train moves forward once at the end of Katarina's turn now I do want to point out that in this scenario we put three of these small Landscapes at the front then a four and then a five and each of these numbers represents the number of train track spots that they cover the larger the tile the more portals it may have but the small ones can have multiple portals as well oh
like this one right here that is broken weave and it summons red as well as blue creatures now once again every time we flip over a landscape tile we put one Essence on every one of the portals and then we count the number of possessed passengers on the train there are three of them so three more Essence goes down two of those will go onto this one because it's further towards the front and one goes there now in the future if we have a red or blue monster summoning then two of those will come o
ut as long of course as there's at least one on these portals over here all right it's Bucky's turn and I think let's start with them doing a basic action to banish a creature Bucky is in the dining car and there are two reavers next to it so they will banish one of them to limbo leaving one remaining creature next to the car that's important because now for their main action they want to do a bounty hunt they can only do this if their car has exactly one creature next to it which it does now an
d they can push that creature with plus 0 now as I said before when you push you add this amount to the speed of the train and the train speed is one that means Bucky will push this Reaver one car back and whenever you push a creature beyond the back of the train then it falls behind away from us and we put it back into the supply in addition to that based on the bounty hunt skill if this creature falls behind which it did we can remove one Essence from a creature summoning portal of that creatu
re's color a red creature just fell behind behind so we can remove one Essence from this red creature summoning portal all right we have one creature next to the train now although there are two in limbo and Bucky can perform one more basic action on their turn if they want they do have two stamina left I think let's have them do this basic action for the first time in the game letting them use one item that does cost one stamina and they can choose any of the items remember items and ult tokens
are shared amongst all of the investigators there is only one item right now though this is The Shining trapezohedron and when they use it it says they can choose one portal then they move all Essence from any chosen landscape tile to that portal as I mentioned before I think this insane momentum is a real problem for us we do not want this train moving one space forward for each possessed passenger on the train currently that is three and that is probably going to go up as we continue to play
the train going this fast will probably Force us to lose the game on Essence so I think let's target this portal here it already has three Essence on it which is quite a bit it's going to be hard to remove all of that and we are going to remove all Essence from this landscape tile which could potentially be multiple portals if they were on there and then we'll put them here this is essentially us saying we're probably not going to be taking care of that but at least there is no Essence on the in
sane momentum so that won't activate at least not right now there are ways that more Essence can be placed on here and hopefully that won't be happening anytime soon Bucky is done with actions so they have to draw an event token and it looks like they found the train portal activation once again this is going to activate all of the portals with text underneath them on those landscape tiles but only when we run all of these and currently there are two stacks with at least one tile and to empty so
we don't do events just yet there's only a couple of tiles left in this event bag well cat Arina can go and they're going to start by using the occult spell skill that they just gained once again they can cast a chosen spell from the spell book using their leftmost sanity token and they lose that token they only have one spell to choose from right now and it's Blasphemous versus they can remove one monster from anywhere and if their leftmost sanity token was a hyperfocus they could also remove
one creature from every car with a possessed passenger but this is not the case we can see Katarina's leftmost sanity is normal they only have three sanity tokens left though and remember we all lose the game immediately if any of the investigators has no more sanity fortunately we can remove this creature and with that there are currently no creatures next to the train at all that's great but of course we do need to figure out which of these suspects are cultists and we've got a pretty long way
to go before we figure that out next up Katarina will do a basic action spending one stamina and they will use their current cars action that is the first class sleeping cabin which gains all of us one occult token we were at zero so having one is definitely a good idea Katarina has one more basic action they could do and they are going to do it they'll use their special chemistry professor action which lets them choose an investigator and place a cube next to one skill they're actually going t
o choose Bucky this lets Bucky take that Cube and they can place it down and they'll put put it here as you can see that uncovered a Chevron so now on Bucky's next turn if they want to rest they will gain that extra Chevron they don't have to do a whole another main action before they get that extra benefit from the rest well Catarina is done with actions so it's time to pull more tokens from the bag here is a train token so that is going to move the train once forward and it's blue so that mean
s they have to draw another token from the bag and this is actually the last token from the back as you can see this is a green special token and this is a helpful token it says we can reveal any one clue now at the start of the game there were four of these helpful tokens we could choose from we chose this one to put into the bag and let's now do it you know we've been working so hard to try and figure out who this medium is honestly to the detriment of learning about the other Suspects on the
train but we're really close to clear them as not being a cultist so let's flip over one of these two desires we'll go for this one that is oh it's a goblet okay it looks like we have found ourselves a second cultist remember one of the ways a suspect is a cultist is if they are heading to Constantinople with either an occult or nonl tile they also have a goblet and they do not have an elder sign now the Elder Sign is a feature and we' revealed all of the features so we know for a fact that this
medium cannot have an Elder Sign because they have at least one goblet and they going to Constantinople they are indeed a cultist we've actually got these tokens right here to make it really obvious they're double-sided and you can use them when you know somebody is not a cultist now we actually have a quest for this suspect they desire to be in the same car as another Suspect with a weird tattoo if we had completed this quest for the medium we would have flipped over all of these tokens and th
en seen they were a cultist and then bad things would have happened because you don't want to help out the cultists on this train so it's really good that we knew this unfortunately we had to do a lot of work to actually ascertain that but we can now start learning about the other passengers and we could also interact with the medium pushing them off the train if we did that we would remove a ritual token from the ritual which which is nice and we'd reveal all the other tiles but currently there
are no ritual tokens so I don't think that is going to be a priority well at this moment there are no tiles left in the bag so we're going to take all of the tiles from the discard pile and toss them into the bag now I do actually want to point out that some of the tiles that started the game in the discard pile show an x on them for example this one is a double pip so it goes on the vampire spot but if it is there when we activate events we essentially skip over it not activating the vampire t
hese are definitely nice to have and I'm glad have them tossed into the bag for future event polls speaking of events there is none right now because we only have two stacks so Katarina finishes their turn by moving the train forward once this means Bucky Burton can go and I think they are going to rest they'll do this first so they'll perform the rest main action and we can see they have two chevrot this means for each of these they can upgrade a skill or gain a new skill or use their Lucid ski
ll the one they chose at the start of the game says they can gather one suspect from anywhere to their car now gather simply means you take the component from wherever it is and move it to wherever is indicated with the first Shevon I think Bucky is going to upgrade their bounty hunt they can do this because there is a cube next to that action and they simply pop this out and put the new one in the upgrade is much more flexible first of all they don't have to be in a car with exactly one monster
that restriction is gone also they push plus one instead of plus zero so they push the monster further which makes it easier to make them fall behind the train for their other Chevron they want to learn a new skill now they have three options Fanning over here is a push zero and it lets you spend up to five stamina and for each stamina spent you push zero again so they essentially fan a gun pushing a bunch of monsters from one car that's very effective in the right situation although we current
ly don't have any monsters to deal with there's also Ru talk this is another way to talk with people on the train to learn about those suspects and this is a talk four with a suspect most of the talk actions deal with a passenger but not this one that says for every two of the full ovals that you reveal you can flip over any one clue on that suspect but if you draw two split tiles of any type then the talk fails also if it is a fail we put an x on that skill this is a permanent block token that
looks like this which means you cannot use that suspect's favor action for the rest of the game I don't think we want rough talk right now the one we want is Hired Gun this says they can move with a suspect to to a chosen car and then if possible they can resolve their Quest and if that suspect was a cultist we don't suffer the consequences Beyond placing a ritual token I think I like the idea of this I would not mind completing a quest soon so yeah they are going to go with Hired Gun they can p
ut that here that is all of their Chevrons now they will restore five stamina bringing them up to six and they can bring all of their cubes down and they're done with their main action they can still do up to two basic actions though they're going to do just one they'll spend a stamina and move up to two times but in this case they're only going to move one space over here to the salon all right Bucky decides not to do another basic action which means they are done with their actions and we can
now draw from this very full bag of event tiles we have found ooh this is great as I said these cross icons mean they do trigger events to happen but that specific one doesn't this is the four pip so we'll place it right here and now events happen because there is at least one token on three out of the four Stacks we'll start right up here and that is going to activate every one of the portals that has text underneath it there are two of these out on the board but again these portals only activa
te if there's at least one Essence on top of them so in this moment if insane momentum had at least one Essence it would activate moving the train three spaces forward because we have three possessed passengers but that's not the case and that is definitely a good thing so we can ignore this portal but we can't ignore this one it has at least one Essence so it activates and it says we remove one Essence from the game remember one of the many ways we lose the game is by having no Essence in the s
upply so permanently removing these potentially multiple times could really put some pressure on us later on that's it for the portals and of course as we proceed through the game the train moves further and reveals more landscape tiles which means there's more and more potential activations for portals like this next up every red monster will activate and one green monster will activate after that all blue summoning portals will activate well we have no monsters at all we've done a really good
job of cleaning that up so there are no monster activations but we are going to have two blue monsters summon because there are two of those portals that are online so that is two absorbers one goes here and the next one goes to the following car and now it's time for a passenger event we reveal the top card and it's growing anger I don't like the sound of that it says in each car with one or more Angry passengers all of the calm or happy passengers become angry then we move each of the suspects
once with the second class suspects heading towards the first G and the first class suspects moving towards the salon well I was worried about this but we don't have a very angry train we only have one angry person their way over here and they are with an injured passenger no calm or happy passengers so that means this growing anger doesn't actually affect us at all the passengers overall currently are pretty calm now each of the suspects move Sly boots is over here and they are a first class p
assenger so they want to move to the salon but they're already there so they don't move then the crime book writer is also a first class suspect so they will will move over here heading towards the salon the second class suspects are going to head up towards the fergon the first of these is the psychologist they will head here then the mestra will head up and the medium is already in the fergon so they don't move next up if this did not have an x on it we'd put a ritual token down but it has an
X so we essentially do nothing skipping over it and finally all of the creatures in limbo move to the last car of the train I'm starting to think maybe we should have gained that spell to ditch the last car of the train or to give the Gunslinger the ability to push multiple creatures at once but we'll just have to deal with the decisions that we've made now we can remove the top tile from each of these stacks and put them into the discard pile and finally the train moves forward once and that wi
ll reveal a new landscape this is oh rain of blood it actually has an on reveal effect this is not a portal it says we immediately discard the leftmost vampire strength tile we're seeing lots of things that are strengthening the vampire so this goes away which means instead of them not attacking a possessed person in an open car they will kill a possessed person in a car with the curtains open the vampire has a lot of ways to kill passengers and when those events start happening again some coffi
ns would certainly be placed on the board well catch arena is up and I really wish we could have them perform the radioactive panaceum main action it would let us remove all Essence from a chosen monster summoning portal on a current landscape the problem is we have to do it from a carriage that has no passengers on it at all because obviously this is a very dangerous skill that they are performing and there are passengers on every one of these cars right now and the reason I want to do this is
because this broken weave landscape currently has a summoning portal that has a whopping seven Essence on it that would be a huge way to get essence back into the supply we have a little bit of time until this is no longer current but I don't think we can make it happen this turn because we don't actually have that many ways right now to move these passengers around this is a strange situation but I kind of wish some of these passengers had died so there' be less of them out here to clear up a c
ar so we could perform this radioactive panaceum I think instead Katarina is going to do the fast talk main action which is a talk five with a calm or happy passenger so Katrina is going to talk to this calm passenger there and it's a talk five so we pull five tokens out of the bag to start the conversation we of course return all of the split tiles to the bag these are a matching pair but that doesn't do anything right now and it looks like we don't currently have any pairs let's go ahead and d
raw a tile and we have found okay a split tile with an angry face if we pull another one of those then that calm passenger will become angry and this will be a failed talk I do think we should pull another tile though this is a ticket tile let's keep going okay it's another split tile things are starting to get risky here I'm still going to push it ooh okay that's a matching one over here for desire maybe we should stop right here we were in a very similar situation earlier and we busted failing
the talk yeah we're just going to stop right now this means we can flip a desire clue on any of the passengers on any of the suspects that are still on the train I think let's go with the crime book writer down here they have three desires and we'll flip this one ooh okay that shows the possessed face and that symbol is associated with a quest this is the first revealed desire clue for the crime book writer so what we do now is we look into this deck and we find the first of these yeah there we
go that matches up with that symbol we are going to tuck this underneath we can look at the top right here it looks like they are into spiritualism esoterism they are unnaturally calm and they supposedly know why we are here and specifically their Quest says this suspect desires to be in a car with a possessed passenger now we are going to tuck this underneath that and if we reveal any other desires on this suspect we of course will not add any any more quests next up we can choose a single spl
it tile and get the benefit on the bottom once again we have the same one here there are multiple effects though for example this which lets you flip over a favor tile that's already been used like that we didn't have that as an option though this icon lets us draw a new item so we draw it from the top of the deck all of us can use this with a basic action of course and this is a salano fragment grimoire now the effect says you lose one sanity that's not great but you remove all Essence from a c
hosen portal that is situationally amazing all right we have this item and this talk action is done now Katrina has two basic actions they can do and they've decided they want to rest again in the near future and they want to try and superpower this so they're going to use their specific chemistry professor basic action twice they choose themselves to place one cube next to a skill each time they have to spend one stamina so with the first use of this they'll place that Cube onto lecture and the
n they're going to do this again putting this Cube onto nitrous oxide this is an interesting action they have to do it in a car that has the curtains closed and all of the panicking and angry passengers become calm in that car that makes a lot of sense catch arena is done with actions so it's time for another event bag pull and oh okay it's a ritual tile we put that over here and the train moves forward once all right it's time for Bucky Burton to go and I think let's have them do The Hired Gun
main action right off the bat we haven't seen any resolved quests just yet and I'd like to see one now this says that Bucky can move with a suspect to a chosen car the suspect Bucky is with is Sly boots and their Quest wants them to be in the same car as an injured passenger there are three of these to choose from but I don't think I want Bucky to be too far away from the back of the train because Bucky is pretty good at pushing these monsters so I think they are both going to move to this first
class sleeper and then it says if possible we resolve that suspect's Quest the the car with Sly boots does have at least one injured passenger in it which means their Quest can be fulfilled so we can pull this card out and we flip it over and we have to figure out if this is not a cultist or a cultist because of course what happens depends on this we do this by simply revealing all of these tiles this is a risky but effective way to see a lot of tiles quickly now the reason I'm doing this is be
cause we have already seen the Blood Red Fez that is a feature so we know none of these are the Blood Red Fez so that is not an easy way that s boots could become a cultist we also know that Sly boots only has one desire and that desire is not not a goblet remember the second way a suspect becomes a cultist is if they have a goblet and there is one more they also do not have an elder sign and they have a ticket to Constantinople this could be a ticket to Constantinople but we know they cannot ha
ve a goblet so they can't be either of these first two that means they are only a cultist if the bottom one is true and we've seen one of their six and it does not have a ult background so as long as two of these other four aren't Ault then they will not be a cultist and that's a risk I'm willing to take so let's start flipping them this is not a cult this one is it is an elder sign as you can see that one isn't all right awesome this is not a cultist we can flip all of these over and we can put
the not occultist token right over here now we can resolve the quest and again we choose the side that matches up whether or not this is a cultist I'm not going to read through all of the things that would happen happened if it was a cultist but I want to point out a bunch of bad things would normally happen but this action was Hired Gun and it had the special effect that says if this had happened to be a cultist the only negative consequence we'd have is gaining this ritual token so that's ano
ther reason why I felt comfortable doing this because the worst case scenario was really not that bad unlike normally when you do this kind of risky maneuver so let's read the non- cultist side it says withdrawal symptoms from a bag they extract gauze and a large vial after fill it up to the brim they seal the collected blood seeing your surprised face they explain oh I see there must have been a misunderstanding I'm here to help but not that Bloody wretch down here it says we're going to place
a 1x block token on the vampire board the next time the vampire would activate we discard that 1X token instead that's great these tokens look like this so we can place that here and that's very likely one less person that will be killed by the vampire over the course of this game well Bucky is done with their main action but they have two basic actions they can do as well they've decied to start with an interact specifically interacting with Sly boots this will cost them one stamina and of cour
se they can do that because Sly boots is still in their car now they are not allowed to interact for a favor because this is still flipped over but what they can do is ask about this feature because it has that extra information icon at the bottom specifically this is the ornate tin of snuff and in order to do this that means we look through here until we find an ornate tin of snuff card we'll go with this one here and we'll just read it aloud this says the tobacco is a prop it's glued on and th
e tin is a disguised book with an unusual circular binding the effect down here says we get a random gmir from the item deck we also rotate this tile 180° to show that we are not allowed to ask Sly boots about this feature again for the rest of the game so let's draw items until we find a grimoire well that was quick it was the first card this is the pinako manuscripts and it says you lose one sanity but then you put back all of your golden cubes into their slots and you restore all of your stam
ina this is essentially a rest without being able to upgrade things but that definitely lets you continue to be effective I do want to point out that whenever you use any of the Grim Mars it does cost you one sanity speaking of Sanity Bucky has a lot of it I think for their other basic action they are going to spend a stamina and then they are going to use one of the items specifically the Solano fragments this means Bucky will lose their leftmost sanity but they can remove all Essence from one
chosen portal so Bucky has four sanity remaining but we can remove all seven of this Essence from that portal and place it back into the supply this is a really good move of course we were talking about a way to try and do this with Karina using their radioactive panaceum but I think it was going to take too long to orchestrate a situation to have a car with no passengers in it by that time I think the train would have moved by and this would no longer be current so I think using the item to do
this instead was the right idea all right Bucky is done with actions so they can draw an event tile and oh they found a quick tile this moves the train once bringing it here and then they draw again and unfortunately it's a ritual that being said this is happening before the ritual token event happens this will put a token down here so I think I'm glad this came out before that now we can count up the ritual power it starts at zero because there are no ritual tokens here but then we add to that
one 2 three for the possessed passengers on the train this means there is a ritual power of three and this is a nocturnal Crescendo it says for each ritual powerpo we discard the leftmost vampire strength tile we do have an occult token so we could use this to reduce that power to two instead of three I don't know I think this vampire is going to be really strong let's just let it happen so far no one has died yet so I don't feel tons of pressure for that lost Condition it's possible having a su
per powerful vampire will cause that to be a problem later on but for now I think we're going to let this vampire power up we know the next time they activate they won't do anything so I think that gives us some cover once again this is a ritual power of three so we remove this and that as well as this one and as you can see the vampire has a lot of opportunities to kill passengers when they activate from an event again the last thing for the ritual is a panicked passenger becomes possessed but
unlike the last time we had a ritual there are no panicked passengers we've calmed a whole bunch of people we of course have some possessed and injured passengers but no Panic means we don't gain any more possessed passengers and this is a big win for us overall I'm really happy this came out at this moment it could have definitely been worse later on because by that point we might have had some Panic passengers the last thing we do of course is reveal a new incantation this will be for the next
ritual this is fractured reality it says for each ritual PowerPoint you add one Essence to an active portal you place on different portals starting with the leftmost once again you lose if all Essence is placed and this could really put pressure on that condition Bucky can end their turn by moving the train forward once and that means we now have a new landscape to flip over this is a size four it has one portal on it called exhaustion this gains one essence of course and when this activates ea
ch of the investigators will lose one stamina and reduce their maximum stamina limit by one of course we also Place Essence on here equal to the number of possessed passengers which is currently three overall we've been doing a pretty good job I think we know about two cultists and one not cultist we've been keeping the creatures somewhat in check while also not being overrun with possessed passengers and also not losing a ton of this Essence the game is far from over but so far things seem to b
