What's up guys, how are you? Welcome to my YouTube channel Today I bring you the first tutorial of a small saga of videos that I will be doing to optimize Linux Mint for gaming or productivity I really hope you like it because I'm trying hard to do the research So well, this is practically oriented so that we can do our own Steam OS Since in some way it cannot be installed natively on our computer So well, we will be focusing on it so that it works in a correct way and without fighting so much B
ut hey, without further ado, let's start with the tutorial Ok, the first thing we have to do is give a partition to our disk in case we want to install it together with Windows Also, if we are not going to install it together with Windows, but we are going to use a storage unit that we have never used First we are going to have to activate the unit so that it is detectable for the installer Since many times when a disk is new and it does not have any format, simply the system does not detect it
So, for this we are going to open a folder, any Windows one, we click it and here is a folder, right? In this case we are going to click on this team and here we are going to leave it Being here, where this team says, we are going to right click, administrate And in this window that opened, we are going to go to where it says disk administration And in this disk administration folder, all the disks that you have installed in your system are going to come out In this case I have two examples We a
ll know that Windows is always installed in unit C Ok, that is where the system is installed If you only have one disk installed and Windows installed, then this is going to be the unit in which you are going to need to make a partition Making a partition in this disk is very simple For that first you have to know how many gigabytes you have free, ok? And how much you want to assign So, let's see If the disk is 446 gigabytes, then let's see You go to the folder that we opened previously and here
it tells you all the disks that you have installed in your system We know that Windows is installed in local disk C And it says that we have 338 gigabytes available of 446 So let's say that if we want we could perfectly put 150 gigabytes free to Linux So, to do this we are going to go disk administration And being here we are going to right click and reduce volume In this little window that opens it is asking us how many megabytes we want to remove from the disk, ok? For this first we have to t
ransform how many megabytes we need for 150 gigabytes For that we open the calculator And with the calculator we are going to put 1024 by 150 So we are going to occupy 153,600 Ok, we are going to go here and in this space where it says the size of the space you want to reduce We are going to put this amount 153,600 We are going to give it to reduce And now it is going to be black So black is not useful at all because the system most of the time, not always, does not detect it So what we are goin
g to do is right click, new volume in simple Next, we are going to make sure that all the megabytes are down here That is, the same amount up here And we are going to give it to next again Being here, if you want, let's say you can put any letter In this case I am going to put Z, for example I am going to give it to next You make sure that here it says give fast format And I don't know, here you put the title as Linux Mint, right? And then you give it to next again Finish And you will have your
new disk to be able to install Linux Mint, either next to Windows Let's say this is not your case, ok? You don't want to use the same disk as Windows to install Linux So you have another disk that you have bought, you have installed and this is the one you are going to use For that, then you are going to go where it says your new disk And in this case, mine is the disk 2, which is one of 6 gigabytes that I am going to be using Because I am simply going to use it for the system since I installed
the games in another unit So let's say, what we have to do is right click, new simple volume And exactly the same as before Make sure it has the maximum size in megabytes Give it to next, put a letter, let's say in this case L of Linux Then I go here where it says volume label I put Linux, I make sure it is in fast format, I give it to next Finish And in this way I could already do the installation of my system Now yes, without further delay, let's start with the booting tutorial And how to make
a correct installation for Linux Mint To create a Linux Mint installation, it is really very easy The only thing we have to do is look for the Linux Mint page For this we go to Google and write Linux Mint and we look for it After having done this, we enter the first page And in this page we are going to download a version of Linux Mint Linux Mint has several versions To see these versions you simply have to click on the download button That is here on the left of the white button that says down
load And here you will see all the versions In this case there are three versions of the same system Which are different in what characteristics they have How many characteristics they have And the system consumption In this case, to select the system suitable for you It will depend on your tastes and your needs For example, if you have a very good system Let's say you have a latest generation processor You have more than 16 GB of RAM You have a good graphics card You can download the Cinnamon A
nd you really won't have any problem However, if you like things a little more minimalist You don't want the system to weigh so much You want the basics to be able to play, do things like editing and little more You can download the Mate version Although this Mate version is updated less than the Cinnamon version Which is up Even so, it is a little more stable Since it does not have so many things And it is the version that I recommend to you The version that is called Xfce It is a very very lig
ht version Which is for devices that have very few resources In my experience Already using these systems The truth is that the Mate version has worked the most For example, I have a laptop that I bought recently Which is a MacBook Pro That the truth when they sold it to me I didn't even have the system I mean, it was corrupt And the moment it is a very old laptop Well, I can't reinstall it again Because things from Apple, right? Well, the case I had put the Xfce system on this laptop Because it
only has 6GB of ram And it has a second generation i5 processor That is, it is already something old So, the logical thing I thought And that many of you would think Is that using the Xfce version Would be the most appropriate Of course, we would all think that However, in my opinion After using it for several days The system got stuck a lot It took a long time to react It took me a long time to enter the browser and little more And the truth is that the Mate version works much better I don't k
now what is due But apparently, as it says here If it is something faster And it is also much more stable And well, that I would really tell you to choose that option But it all depends on you So you can try it To download it We are simply going to give it here in the button that says download We are going to go down And we are not going to go to the section where the repeaters are In this case, we are simply going to select the first Which is a global server We click it And it starts to downloa
d In this case, to make the booting Both in Windows and Linux We are simply going to be using Balena Etcher To download it You just have to go to Google and write Balena Etcher as I will do next And well, you are going to enter the first result Which ends in .io Don't get into the one that says .online Because it could be some copy page And well, that has 32 opinions So don't trust that much And well, now we are going to go to the page Which is the one that ends in .io And we are going to downlo
ad Balena Etcher So to download it, we click here And we are going to download the portable version For Windows In this case, to download it, we are guided by this And we simply click where it says Download If it starts to download, it really doesn't weigh much So we just wait And well, if you want to boot the USB from Linux Here are the options to download Either if you have a 32-bit system Or 64-bit As we can see, the file format Is an AppImage So, to run This type of file, either in Linux Min
t Or in others, I have seen At least the first time that I wanted to use it That it doesn't run so easily Simply by double clicking To run it, first you have to give it permissions By right clicking From there you are going to go to file properties or something like that And you are going to give it permissions to run As an application After this, you can open it However, even if you don't manage to run it Well, download the .dev version Which is simply easier to install Because this one is inst
alled with double click To download it, you simply go down here Where it says that if you want to download a .dev file That is, from Debian You click, it will send you to this page And to download it You are just going to go up Here where it says the version Where it says Realses Here where it says the version, you click And down here you will be able to find the .dev So this one you would be downloading After you have already downloaded The program with which we are going to boot Whether it is
in Linux You are going to have to install it first And if you are in Windows, as it is the portable version You just have to open it Here I have a program so I just double click And that program is going to open It is very easy to do In the first option what we have to do is Select which is the file that we are going to boot In this case it is the Linux Mintmatic system Which is the one I downloaded For that I click, I look for where I have downloaded the file And then I click And then open or I
just double click And it will open Now where it says Select Objective It is the USB that you are going to select So for that I select And here I look for the USB that I am going to be using The devices that come out hidden below Are the devices that you have in your system That is, those that are not USB Do not use those Because you are going to finish formatting them At the end I always select the first one Apart from that, the USB Regularly guides you by the size it has In this case it is 31
GB And then it is the letter D So I give it to select And now I'm just going to flash it If it asks you for permission, you give it yes All this ignores it, just let it open They are folders because in this case it had partitions And then I'm going to wait for it to boot And as we can see It is already finished flashing the USB That is, to boot So for that we are simply going to close This window, all the others that have opened They are already from the explorer For example, the one that came o
ut to me because it was Eliminating some partition or things like that Well, you just close it and that's it In this way we will already have our USB created Now we can restart And install the system We are going to do that so that you can see how A correct installation of Linux Mint is done And that way it works perfectly for you Both for gaming or productivity And nothing, when you have already booted on your computer In this way your desktop will come out Obviously some things are not going t
o come out Since they are the things that I am using To be able to record this video That is the OBS and it is the device Where I am saving everything Above the left, as you can see, is the Linux Mint installer To open it you just have to Double click When it is already open The first thing we have to select is the language of the system In this case it is Spanish So I give it a click And then I'm going to click continue After this, in this section What we have to do is select the language of ou
r keyboard That is, the distribution that we have In this case the one I have is English So I'm also going to select it Here on the left and on the right Depending on the distribution that I have That in this case is the standard of all life Of course, if you don't know what kind of distribution You have down here where it says Detect the distribution of the keyboard After clicking and after some tests Of some keys that it will ask you It will tell you what distribution is recommended For your s
ystem, so in this case I leave it in English And I just give it to continue After this, the most recommended Is that you install the multimedia codecs So I'm going to hit it and I'm going to give it To continue And after this, these three installation methods will come out In which we are going to pay more attention Is in the second and third Since the first one will tell you If you want to install it with Windows Or remove Windows And reinstall the Linux Mint system In my recommendation If you
want to keep Windows Select the first option, in this case it comes out like this Because I already have Linux Mint installed And I'm doing a reinstallation for the tutorial The second option says that Automatically It will remove everything, whether documents Photos, music and so on And in this way It will reinstall only Linux Mint So when you turn on your computer You will only have Linux Mint If you want to do this Select the second option The third option and the last most important Is the o
ne called more options This option Will allow us to create some Partitions that are very important for the system To work correctly Which is what I recommend to you So in this case we click on more options And we are going to give it to continue After this, all the hard drives That our computer has But we are going to look with the tool That we have below The disk where we are going to install our system In this case I'm going to be using This 100GB hard drive, so I select it Something very impo
rtant to guide us In the installation and not to be confused Is that on the left we have a small installation route In this case it is Slash, dep, slash, sdc In other words This is the route of our hard drive We are going to look for this here on the left And when we have already found it We simply click on it As we can see This hard drive has several partitions If that is your case and you want to delete Either all windows or all the system That you had previously Simply click on one by one Of
the partitions, as you see it is divided In sdc1, sdc2, sdc3 That is, they are all the partitions That the system has If you want to delete them, simply right click And delete I was going to say that if you want to leave your windows installed Simply look for The one that says free space And do not delete anything from the previous Because it could be your windows system But hey, the example I'm going to be giving Of how to install linux mint Is a disk from scratch so that we use it Full for gam
ing or productivity So I'm going to delete All the partitions it has After I have already deleted all the partitions We can see that I have the 100 gigabytes In megabytes here That is, it is the free size that I have Here is free space 100,030 megabytes For this, the first part That I'm going to delete Is the one that says Free space In sdc1, sdc2, sdc3 That is, the one that says Free space In sdc2, sdc3 For this, the first partition That we are going to create Is an FI partition The FI partitio
n is the one that will help us To start the system correctly If you already have a windows Installed, you will already have this partition Created, so it will not be necessary That you create it But if you do not have windows installed Then create it To create it is very simple We are going to go to the route that we have We are going to select the free space And in this little window Where it says use as We are going to look for where it says FI partition We are going to click And up here we ar
e going to assign A size of 200 megabytes Or 300 You could put up to 500 but it would be A lot only for the start system In this case I am not going to create it Because I already have it Now the most important That we are going to create Is the exchange area Or the virtual memory As we know it in windows For this, the most recommended That many people say, whether they are experts in linux Or some forums like the same Where is the Linux Mint Is that the most recommended is that you put The same
size that you have in ram memory As an exchange area, that is Virtual memory That is, for example, if you have 4 gigabytes of ram memory You are going to put 4 gigabytes Of exchange area If you have 8 gigabytes You are going to put 8 gigabytes of exchange area And so on It should be said That I see this well Up to 8 or 16 gigabytes If you have more than 16 gigabytes Well, the truth is, I don't see Necessary that you put the same amount I would recommend that in that case You leave it at 8 gigab
ytes Ok, how is this done? Well, we are going to select the free space That we have on our route We are going to click on the plus sign And here where it says Use as we are going to look for The one that says exchange area Now we are going to open our calculator In our calculator What we are going to do next is Put 1024 By 8 And this is the result that we will be putting As virtual memory 8192 We paste it And now we simply click on ok We will leave our calculator open Because we are going to con
tinue using it And as we can see Our exchange area has already been created Here it comes, swap Now yes, what follows is Create our root system That is, where are all the applications going to be installed All the important files For the system to work For this we go to the free space Of our hard drive We give the plus sign And we go to where it says use as We are going to leave it in the file system EXT4 traditional And below we are going to give it Where is the root, that is, the slash Here ou
r system is going to be installed For this First we are going to assign it The recommended size What is the recommended size for a system That is only going to be used for games? Actually it would be very little Let's say about 30 GB In this case we will be assigning That size of 30 GB If we are only going to be using it To install Steam, some things like Epic Games Some games Since all those programs All the files will be installed there So for that We are going to leave it in about 30 GB Appro
ximately Of course it should be said that you can put the size you want But the most recommended is that If you are going to be doing Something else, like installing some Productivity programs, like audio editing 3D modeling or things like that Well, you could leave it up to 50-60 GB In this case, since my disc is Very small and I'm only going to be using it For gaming, then I'm going to put 30 GB of space For this we are going to multiply 1024 By 30 And this is the size that we will be Putting
to our partition 30720 We are going to put it up here And we are going to hit OK We are going to search our disc again And here we have it With several partitions Now, the last partition, the most important That we are going to create Is where we are going to save all our personal information Whether it be documents Images, videos Anything else that we save So, what we are going to do is Search the free space Hit the plus sign And all the space that is in the hard drive All the remaining megabyt
es We are going to put them to the maximum And now, we are going to change the mounting point To where it says HOME Make sure where it says Use as it has the same traditional EXT4 file system And now if you just hit OK And now, before you install it Like how desperate you are You are going to go down And you are going to hit where your hard drive is Which in this case is this route Now, by clicking On the base route On the base of your disc Then you are going to hit Install Make sure to first ch
eck The partitions that are going to be formatted That regularly the partitions that are going to be formatted Are the root And the HOME one, then click Again, you are going to search it And you are going to click again on the root Remember that the ones that are going to be formatted Are the root and the HOME If it doesn't mark automatically Regularly it marks automatically Then mark it manually Now, if when you have already marked it You are going to go to where it says SlashDepthSDC, like thi
s one in my case You have to make sure that it is the root of your disc And then you are going to hit Install Then you are going to click on Install You are going to see all the changes That you are going to make to the unit In this case you are going to hit Continue And now we are going to wait for it to install Of course, for this remember to mark your time zone You are going to hit Continue And then you are going to put your data In this case It is going to be called Rikui Here you can see th
e model of your computer In this case it detects the motherboard of my computer I am going to put YouTube For example, a very basic password And something important is that If you want to encrypt your data Either in case you get to steal the computer Or something like that, then mark this little dove Of course, for this every time you start the computer It is going to ask you for the password If you don't want this Since it is your personal computer You have it all the time in your house, blah b
lah Well, just hit where it says start session automatically In the same way it is going to ask you for the password But not at the beginning I mean, not every time you turn on the computer In this case, in this way I am going to leave it like this And I'm just going to hit Continue Now we will wait for the installation to finish And well, when the installation is finished You are going to get this little box That tells you that if you want to restart Or you want to continue testing Remember tha
t at the time of restarting It is going to ask you to remove the USB on the screen And then you press enter In this way it will start you already correctly Linux Mint or the boot system Either to start with Windows Or with the Linux system So in this case I'm going to give it to continue testing And well, from now on you can configure your system Either install Steam, optimize it Install the controllers you need So for that up here on the right I will be leaving you a new guide So you can go see
it And well, with that guide you will learn to optimize everything For Linux, for gaming or productivity With nothing more to say, I hope you liked the video Please remember to leave your like Comment and share it with your friends I will be watching you until next time Bye Bye Thanks for watching

Si eres nuevo recomiendo dejar todo en la home, después cuando se llena el root al sistema deja de arrancar.

@Fred_73

@javierguerra6982

@Sora-kc9tj

me gustaría hacerlo pero la verdad ni idea xD no entiendo nada..... igual buen video c:
