How to Introduce a New Cat! Best Way to Introduce New Cats to Each Other!

Have you got yourself a new kitty or moved home to a place with an additional cat? Introducing cats to one another is not going to be the easiest thing but there are ways to make them aware of one another and introduce them with the least amount of stress. Claire and Rags are settling into their new home but with the new house is a new cat! Over the past few weeks they have been using these easy hints and tips to introduce Rags to Godiva and visa versa! From Swapping scents to supervised interactions, with these helpful tips you can take the stress out of introducing cats to each other. Relax My Cat are experts in creating relaxing music to help calm your cat and help them sleep. Our music is composed in-house by our team of producers, and uses binaural technology designed to relax and calm your cat. If your cat has sleeping problems or anxiety problems or is even stressed during construction, fireworks or other loud noises, you should try our music. ♫♫♫ Relax My Cat Music on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/artist/relaxmycat/id667991811 Relax My Cat's music will help to calm and soothe your cat or kitten in a variety of situations. Minimise separation anxiety, reduce hyperactivity, minimise fear of thunderstorms or fireworks, stop unwanted whining, comfort sick or injured cats and calm your cat on car journeys - Relax My Cat does it all! Our music is based on feline vocal communication and environmental sounds that pique the interest of cats; it is written in a musical language that is uniquely designed to appeal to the domestic cat. All of the music is recorded on traditional instruments and the human voice. No actual cat, mouse, or bird calls are used (although it may sound like it). Relax My Cat’s music is unique, and will help in a variety of situations as a substitute for medication. We have helped thousands of cats and kittens worldwide to sleep and reduce their anxiety. Music therapy for your cat can keep them calm, happy and healthy, and it is a great way to rehabilitate rescue cats - or just get your kitten or cat used to their new home. Being re-homed is an incredibly stressful time for cats - as they have to get used to a lot of different sights and sounds, as well as their new family and any other pets in the household. We recommend that you play Relax My Cat during this time, and it will help reduce their heart rate and relax them while they explore their new surroundings. No more whining kittens - they will get used to your home in no time at all with the help of Relax My Cat's music! You may be litter training, which can be a stressful time for both dog and parent, and our music will soothe your kitten making your life easier. When listening to Relax My Cat you will notice your kitten start to relax, and get more used to their tray, or similarly if you are training them to get used to their travel box. It is also very useful to calm your cat during car journeys - which many kittens find a stressful time. They may associate it with vets visits - so we recommend playing Relax My Cat's music before and after visits to the vet to reduce their stress. The worst time of year for over 60% of cats is Firework season - the loud bangs are really scary for them and you may notice a huge change in your kitty during this time. Thunderstorms are another difficult time for cats, with the majority of cats being very scared of storms because of the unfamiliar loud noises. Relax My Cat is the perfect solution to this anxiety inducing situation - just play our music to reduce your cats anxiety and make them feel safe. The most common problem we hear is separation anxiety in cats - being separated from you can cause severe anxiety in many cats. Relax My Cat’s music has improved thousands of cases of separation anxiety and noisy felines all over the world. Our music will help cats of all breeds and ages to stay relaxed and keep calm. Relax My Cat - Relaxing Music for Cats

6 years ago

hi guys welcome back to the channel it's Claire and Rags and first of all I just want to thank everybody for helping us reach over two hundred thousand subscribers on our channel I am so so happy me and rags are over the moon and thank you all so so much and I hope that you stick with us to make sure that the channel keeps on growing now as I've mentioned in earlier vlogs Rags and I have a new house and the new house has come with a new cat now you may have seen her here and there another vlog
the other cat in this house is called Godiva and we have been taking steps to introduced them into one another so that we have a nice happy and harmonious home now on introducing to cats it is a difficult task and there are things you need to remember and steps you need to take now it may not be the easiest thing in the world but Rags and I are here this week to share with you some tips on how to make sure you can introduce to cats safely and to make sure that your cats stay happy now obviously
the finishing use to you is to keep your cats as separate it is not a good idea to Institute for cats right off the bat now each cat should have their own room that has their own creature comforts just food a drink toys a comfy bag and their litter tray it is important that both of these rooms cannot be accessed by the other cats so that your cats can feel completely safe completely comfortable and getting used to their new surroundings now the second thing let's do is swap scents now it smells
and scents are very important to cats and they rely on these two source add new environments new food and to see where you've been now the easiest thing way to do this is to swap a bedding obviously cats spend a lot of their time asleep so that a lot of their smell will be on their bedding swapping says is a great way to introduce your cats to another before they meet face to face they'll all become familiar with one another before even seeing each other so this is a great way for them to become
aware that there was another cat in the house before they meet in person okay you should let your cats explore each other's territory our cats are huge territorial and they sent mark wherever they spend a lot of time so stressing the other cats away let your cats have an explorer on the other's territory obviously only do this if shutting the cat away is not going to be distressing to them so we let racks have a little poke around at the sniff around the lounge record eyewear spends a lot of th
eir time as your cat is expecting at this new room they will become aware that this is another cast territory and again it just makes sure that you'll catch the comet familiar with their smells and know that there is another cat in the house now their first contact should be purely visual before they meet face waste properly you should make sure your cats cannot see one another now that is various ways to do this you can either do this through a window or a netted door or as we did with Mexican
diver have one on each side of a door with a very small crack in the door so small enough that they can see one another but not to get to one another another way of doing this is getting both of them into each of their crates or their carry cases and having them at opposite ends of a room so that they can see one another maybe speak to another but not actually be in physical contact now when you introduce your cat's face-to-face in their first physical me top it should be supervised and this is
very important even if your cats aren't particularly aggressive cat you don't know how they're going to react to another cat in their new house now the best way to do this is to do it in a communal area so in a place where your cats may interact with each other on a day-to-day basis with rocks and Godiva we did this in the hallway as it is the biggest space in the house there both of them that can and will interact with one another now during these interactions that you should try playing with e
ach cats this is a great way to distract them so they're not spend the whole time just staring at one another but it also helps to encourage a positive association with one another and finally don't be afraid to seek help from outside sources now you can use things like pheromone diffusers to help your cats feel safe and comfortable and calm in their new environment but also don't be afraid to ask your vets or pet shops if they have any particular tips hints always that they can help you - intro

I had many new roomates with cats, each time I have subjects we slowly introduce them by diffent means. Anytime my fur child is the new cat, I tell them she will be locked in my room with her litter, food, and water for the first two weeks. When someone brings a new cat in, I tell them the best to introduce them and most of the time I am laughed at or given snided remarkes. This can be frustrating since I have raised kittens for weeks old and now have a degree in wildlife biology. Not that domestic cats are part of wildlife biology bit more as I have studied animals and such. I have be around cats since I was a child and have sat and observed them many times. Lucky my sweet tortie does not have a mean bone in her body and will only hiss and walk away pouring when there is a new cat. I am happy you and the sweet rags are happy in your new home.

@medusa_stheno_euryale

Thanks so much for such clear and straightforward information!

@Dragonknight2711

I have seen how wrong this can go. My future mother in law got a new cat, and just placed her right in the house with her first cat. they often fought in the beginning (she kept saying they just had to get used to each other), and after a while her first cat became so scared she didn't want to go downstairs to get her food or use the litter box. Luckily my boyfriend and I found an appartment soon so we could take the poor thing away from that awful situation. She's a very happy and loving kitty now.

im getting a new cat i have also got a 13 year old cat she is very loving im just worried on how to introduce them hopeing this advice will work

@laurabooth3331

Our 9 year old cat recently lost her sister and littermate. We feel our cat would benefit from a new companion. Would it be better if we got a kitten or a more mature cat. We have been thinking a kitten would be better as it might bring out the mother instincts of our 9 year old. What do you think?

@yehboirobo4375

I have two cats and I'm thinking of getting a kitten, would the same rules apply?

@Terry.W

This is another tricky problem....sometimes if you are lucky its not a problem ....but in my experience it takes time and careful planning ...separate food bowls and separate beds is a must...best way is through play and keeping them occupied..
