🎁 FREE browser extension to grow your YouTube channel: https://www.tubebuddy.com/davidlindgren1989 To turn a shape from 2D into 3D in Adobe After Effects, you need to do 2 things. First, select the layer you want to turn into 3D and then select the "3D layer"-box next to it. If you can't see these icons, right-click on the top row in the timeline window, go to "Columns" and select "Switches". Now the layer is technically 3D already, but if you change the view from "Front" to "Custom View 1" you can see that there's still no depth in the shape. So now, you want to open your layer and go down to "Geometry Options". As you can see, this one is greyed out, so you need to change the renderer (which you can also do in the "Composition" window) to Cinema 4D. Now, when you open "Geometry Options" and change "Extrusion depth", the shape will increase in this third direction, which makes it look more 3D. Thanks for doing a 1 minute tutorial for something that takes 15 seconds. Some other creators would've talked for 5 minutes first. Thank you!
Sensationally useful, especially for someone like me who has been away from the software for years and just needed a concise reminder and didn't want a 20 minute tutorial for a couple of clicks of information. Many thanks.
This is great. Thank you!
Your channel is really helpful Thank you
Thank you so much i didn't know were tho find those icons and now i do thank you so much for that
It was very useful. Thank you!
simple y al punto, gracias 👏❤
How come mine doesn't come u with extrusion after cinema 4D in the geometry section?
hi, how to i combine this 3d box with a 2d animation in the same file? i mean i want to add a box to a 2d spacework already animated. When i activate 3d shape for the box i can only see the box
thank you so much
Dude thank you
this is really helpful. I'm trying to do it for a shape and only get curvature and segments as drop down geometry options. would you know a solution for this?
Thanks a lot.
Thank you
BEST VIDEO I'VE VER SEEN
Hello, David. I'm really hopeful you see this comment. Do I need the cinema 4D software installed to be able to practice this tutorial on Aftereffects? Or is the plug-in just good enough?
god bless you king
I have a question about this... what about arbitrary shapes like a diamond that has curved edges, not something typical like a square? I'm trying to make my company's logo look like a 3 dimensional diamond but the shape itself isn't a perfect diamond, it has curved edges. Would I have to recreate the shape as a 3D image? And if so, how would I go about doing that? Thanks! NOTE: When I looked for "Extrude shape" it wasn't listed under Geometry Options.
Very short details sir
