In this shower I had to patch a 3 and 1/2 inch
hole and I actually used a 6-inch piece of drywall from a recessed light I installed. I drew the
circle on the back and cut out all the drywall around that - it's a California patch. I did use
some blocking up in the ceiling I secured that with drywall screws and I did the same thing
with the patch I just used two screws in the center. I applied joint compound between the
paper flap and the ceiling. I did a few coats of joint compound, sanded t
hat smooth and this
is my favorite patch because it's quick and easy

If the drywall is primed and painted you will have no issues. The secret is to have a extractor fan above the shower to take away the moist air , let it run for 5 minutes after shower , you will never suffer from mold .
I finish, good job.
Are you supposed to have drywall as a shower ceiling?
No need for California patch if you have the blocking - just put the patch in -?
Nice big lump on the ceiling . 😂😂😂
