well kids and pets can make a big mess and even get hurt this time of year by knocking over the Christmas tree Nicollet Zera has some unique ways to secure your fur no one wants to see their beloved Christmas tree on the ground so consider baby gates or physical obstacles to keep pets and children away you can also weigh down the base of the tree with something heavy or anchor it to the wall with fishing wire remove fragile ornaments or attach them with a twist tie to secure them stick to some t
hat are plastic or ones that don't have edible pieces on it or anything small that could break off and become a choking hazard um I'd avoid putting ornaments at the bottom of the tree if possible if you have pets there's a few reasons why a real Christmas tree might not be the best option the first reason is that it smells like outside that's going to entice your pet to come closer and inspect it secondly the needles fall off really easily which can turn into a fun game especially if you you hav
e cats but if your animals ingest those needles you may have to stop by the vet I would also avoid using tinsel and Garland if possible with pets just because if they were to get a hold of that and ingest it it could be harmful for them or I would place it up high where they can't reach it if these ideas don't work you could also set up something noisy like bells to alert you when pets or children are near the tree remember to secure any cords out of their reach to avoid any electrical problems
