hey everyone ramd here and today we're going to go over using recorders in descript that's right not only can you edit in here you can even film what can't descript do now there's three ways you can record in descript you can either use the editor recorder which is located right here on your toolbar you can use the quick recorder which will be located on your menu bar for Mac users or down here in your system tray for PC users and finally you can also do remote recordings for podcasts make sure
to check out our separate how-to on how to use that feature now these recorders are essentially the same but there are a few different es that'll dictate how you want to use them so let's get into it now the quick recorder is exactly what it sounds like it's meant for quick off-the-cuff recordings that require a little to no editing for example let's say I just want to show someone how to use a website I can click on my quick recorder here and then this little menu pops up and here's where I can
adjust the settings and choose the camera and mic inputs for my recording here I can choose what Drive I want my recording to be stored in got some additional settings over here beautiful here I can choose whether I want to record my camera or screen I'll stick with screen screen and here I can choose whether I want my computer audio enabled or disabled same thing with my camera and microphone all right and as you can see I got my little picture and picture shot here which I'm holding at a very
unflattering angle you can change the shape of this picture and picture but only for Mac users sorry Windows users and you can also change the size and position of it so now I'm ready to record and we have a couple options here I can choose record and share if I just want to quickly set out my video with no editing required or I can do record and edit which will create a descript project for me where I can make any edits I need to before sharing I'll stick with record and share though so all I
have to do is click choose my recording boundaries it'll give me a little countdown and we're recording now I can teach my dumb friend how to use Google and when I'm done recording I can just stop it and now I immediately have a share page I can send to anyone and over here I can adjust settings like limiting access or allowing comments and if later on I decide I do want to make edits to my video I can just click on the edit button and it'll take me to my very own project and if I want to access
this recording later all I got to do is go to my quick recordings tab in my drive View and here it is so again super useful for quick off-the-cuff recordings but now let's get into the editor recorder now the editor recorder is meant for your more elaborate edits and you'll see why in a sec if I click on the editor recorder here you'll see that the menu is pretty much the same so again I'll click record set my recording boundary I'll do my little Spiel here talk about OTS I don't know why that
was the first thing that came to my mind and we'll stop recording so now I have my recording in my project all ready to be edited however I like but unlike the quick recorder where my picture and picture is burned into the video and I can't move it around here I can move around and adjust my picture and picture however I want separate from the screen recording and I can even go into my media library and edit the sequence of my recording as well as you can see this completely eliminates the need
for a third party recorder and it makes it so much easier to either send recordings out or add them into your project so go off and record and record and record to your heart's content and I'll be here making myself dizzy how fun is this see you guys
