How to save the project when premiere pro crashes

If your editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, you have probably at some point seen this symbol, known as the apple beach ball or the spinning wheel of death, if you will. But don’t freak out, you can still save your project and I’m going to show you how. First, click “cmd + spacebar” to open Spotlight on your mac and search for “activity monitor” (or “Task Manager” on PC) and open that program. Mac: Macintosh HD → Applications → Utilities → Activity Monitor PC: Start → Programs → Task Manager In that program, find Premiere Pro and check the PID number and remember that. This number can be different next time this happens, so go through this process every time Premiere Pro crashes. Now, click “cmd + spacebar” again, search for “Terminal” (or “Command Prompt” on PC) and open that program. Mac: Macintosh HD → Applications → Utilities → Terminal PC: Start → Programs → Accessories → Command Prompt In that program, write kill, space, dash, SEGV, space, dash, and then the PID number you just looked up and hit Enter. (kill -SEGV –0000) This should save your project and hopefully kill that beach ball. If something looks weird inside Premiere Pro now, just restart the Program. Hope you liked this video! If your editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, you  have probably at some point seen this symbol, known as the apple beach ball or the  spinning wheel of death. If you will. Now, click “cmd + spacebar” again, search for “Terminal” (or “Command  Prompt” on PC) and open that program. Again, the exact path in the  bottom left area of this video. In that program, write kill, space, dash, SEGV, space, dash, and then the PID-number  you just looked up and hit Enter. This should save your project and  hopef
ully kill that beach ball. If something looks weird inside Premiere  Pro right now, just restart the Program and it should be fine. Hope you liked this video! Sucha a amazing tip Thank you man

@ctbiztourseries2584

wow this actually worked! thank you!

@jamesbrodie1165

I've tried this twice and it doesnt work for me. The ball continues to twirl and I have to force quit Pr and reopen the program on my last saved timeline sequence. I have found this afternoon a peculiar workaround. If I click inside the project window on the left of the sequence window and then save - the save is more rapid than before and I'm able to save without my Mac crashing. I'm working on a large documentary project with over 22 hours of material, fortunately, its shot in 1080 p. I'd be interested in hearing other work arounds. I work a lot with two parallel timelines with as many as six to eight sequences in a window above with the master edit timeline in a window below it. The freezing is new to me, so I think this could be a big factor.

@itsalexoh

super useful! I wonder if there is a similar process for Windows PC?

@isabelchapman9994

instructions unclear my entire project deleted after working on it for 4 hours, thanks. Will be unliking.

@JoeAndJaz

Where do it saves

@findcrisis

hey fellow windows users, this does not work because we don't have a "kill" command in windows.

@VJIX

That is awesome, wow! And that is also why I save nonstop, and do a save-as like three times a day.

@MSK0000

Omg I just clicked end task in the task manager and I found this video a second later 🥲
