hi there I'm Beth and today I'll be sewing the smart Doll beer girl dress using a free sewing pattern shared by Danny Chu of culture Japan the makers of smart doll I'll put a link in the video description for you to download and print the pattern for yourself it may look like a lot but the outfit is made up of several separate pieces these three pieces on the right make up the sleeves the top here is folded over with elastic inserted and the bottom is gathered to attach to the middle part then t
his bottom piece is gathered at the top to also attach to the middle part these are the blouse pieces the front center and the bust cup which will have a second mirrored piece they are gathered to fit [Music] this piece is also mirrored and is sewn to either side of the front piece and these pieces go on the back attached at the sides and they'll close up with hook and loop finally for the blouse is the frill along the Hem cut a second one mirrored hem the bottom and gather the top to fit [Music
] these next pieces make up the corset which is pretty simple these two parts join to make the front and this joins at the side to make the back closed with hook and loop again finally the biggest pieces are for the skirt we have an inner skirt and a ruffle to attach to the Hem and an outer skirt with another ruffle to attach they both get gathered up together and sewn into this waistband [Music] I'll show you how I put together each piece and we'll choose a lovely model from my shelf of big gir
ls I choose you evolve frame body in tea and I will swap anime North for Starlight [Music] thank you I chose some medium weight white cotton for the blouse and cut out my sleeve pieces two of each mirrored I double fold and will hem the bottom here and I sew a gathering Stitch across the tops for the shoulder pieces I'll overlock and sew Gathering stitches on the top and bottom here's my lower sleeve hemmed and gathered and here's how it attaches to the middle section here both are attached and
top stitched too for these shoulder pieces I pull the gather slightly to help me fold over the edge to create a casing for the elastic I'll press and Stitch this down and insert the elastic it's cut to the size specified in the pattern here I pull the elastic through with a blunt needle and thread but later I went to find a safety pin to push through with instead foreign use pins to secure the elastic at both ends then Stitch to secure [Music] here's my other shoulder piece done and I gather the
upside of it to match the width of the middle sleeve piece [Music] pin Stitch and then top Stitch these in place now we simply fold them with right sides in sew and overlock the sides before turning right side out here's one modeled on the arm it looks great and the elastic with just the right length too next up is the blouse I've cut all the pieces as specified on the pattern I start with the bust cups which are just like the shoulders they are gathered and a casing is sewn into the top curves
and as before elastic is threaded through and secured here you see the two cups are then joined at the front center it's best to insert the elastic as directed before joining the two sides so you get a nice crisp V shape in the center now pull on the Gathering threads to have the bottom of the cups match the width of the blouse Center front piece pin and sew the cups to the front now I take the two side pieces and align them with each side of the blouse front transfer the markings from the patt
ern to help match these together there will be overlap at the top since this has yet to be folded over I overlock the side seams then we'll attach these back pieces I've cut notches to match the pattern markings sew these and overlock the seams too you'll see I've also transferred the pattern markings which show one side of the closure is overlocked and folded once but the other is to be folded over twice before we do that though I also Gathering stitches to the tops of these Ruffles and hem the
bottoms I pull together them both and have them overlap slightly in the front center pin and sew to the blouse hem next I'll fold over and top Stitch the top sides before finishing off the back closure I'll fold in and add velcro to the back now there we go it ends up like a nicely fitted tube top it looks so nice on Starlight especially with the medium smooth bust it could be worn off the shoulder too I grabbed some colored fabrics for the corset and skirt and we'll combine both for the corset
four of each of these pieces with two of each reversed for the outers and the Linings I join the two front pieces I cut notches into the curve to help align them then press once sewn I've top stitched lace where marked on the pattern onto the fronts next I align and Stitch On The Backs for each piece [Music] I cut Snips and press open the seams then pair each outer with its lining right sides in the pattern shows where to leave open for turning but otherwise Stitch all around the outside of bot
h pieces before turning through cut Snips into the seam to help ease the curves and trim excess at the corners [Music] once turned through carefully press before top stitching as shown on the pattern I don't stitch on the brown section now the corset just needs its fastenings snap at the back of the neck velcro in the back and ribbon lacing at the front foreign lovely together I like that the front laces up so you can adjust the fit too I used green ribbon and I added little bows to the blouse s
leeves as well next I'll make the skirt the inner skirt frill is really long and it's cut on the fold too so is twice this length same goes for the inner skirt too I used my rolled hem foot at the machine to hem this and then sewed on the Gathering Stitch I'll pull it to gather it until it matches the width of the skirt piece I pin it in place and sew it on I press it nicely then top Stitch it too next I assemble the outer skirt cutting out two of these ruffle pieces and two of these as well alo
ng the top here the two skirts will get gathered together as before I pull one thread to gather it up to match the size of this curve I'll pin before sewing with the curved end towards the center Front [Music] here they are and this is how they match up with the inner skirt I just need the waistband made up to attach to it now I'll cut out two pieces and we'll overlock one of the lower curves I sew them together right side in leaving the lower curve and half of each side open like this snip the
corners and clip the curves before turning right side out and pressing well [Music] that's done and I've sewn two long Gathering seams joining the inner and outer skirts one closure side is overlocked joining both skirts on the other side will be turned over twice first I pull both Gathers foreign [Music] once the skirt is just about the right width I start pinning it to the waistband right sides in on the non-overlocked side of the waistband I make sure the edges are both turned before pinning
the overlocked side is folded once and the other is folded twice [Music] I disperse the gathers evenly matching the center together and pin like this now I'll sew it in place I pull out any Gathering stitches that show below the waistband and then we'll flip it right side out I pin it so that the inner overlocked side lays flat with the gathered seam tucked up inside the waistband nice and neat [Music] I can then top Stitch all around the outer waistband before closing in the back of the skirt t
he sewing end is marked on the pattern and I'll be overlocking the seam once it's sewn up too foreign [Music] having one closure side longer than the other gives us this nice overlapped finish which we can then add a snap or similar closure to to finish I actually chose to install a hoop and bar closure this time and it fits my lovely model perfectly here she is what do you think of it all together it might look like a complicated outfit when you see it like this but if you take it just one bit
at a time it's quite manageable I've added my little label here at the back and I've dressed her in these pretty little shoes which match quite nicely I made these using my own free smart doll shoes pattern it's quite simple so check it out in my shop if you haven't already I just adore the details in this outfit the lacing and the Frills the German Oktoberfest Vibes it all fits really nicely and it suits her skin tone really well too please do check out the links in the video description below
and give sewing this pattern a try yourself I would definitely make another and I would like to add some embroidery to it as well I want to give a special thank you to my lovely patrons who are helping support the channel getting sneak peeks and seeing some projects that aren't shared anywhere else thank you to Janice Harding Sydney dejuice Ellen cutter Andrea Burgoyne Colleen Elliott Bronwyn George Molly Schlemmer Rhonda Bentley Jenny Ashton Claire Roberts and Katie Lee I look forward to speaki

@MarchPaynesMidlifeDollyCrisis

I guess you can never be too early for Octoberfest. I like how all the pieces are separate so you could also mix and match with other pieces to create different outfits. Really liked the colours that you used.

@ChiSource

This blouse is so cute on its own, with so many options to style it. With or without sleeves, and with jeans. I'm transcribing this video too so I can make the blouse very soon. Would you please make a video on how to make the Box Pleat Long Skirt by Danny Choo? I would so much like to make that one, but am clueless without someone showing me how.

@aprilhill8738

I have this pattern all cut out and ready to go, but haven’t been able to decide on a color combo yet. I like how yours turned out. 😊

@ChiSource

Oh Beth, this is such a cool dress for a dirndl for Oktoberfest like you said. I used to wear my dirndl all the time in Germany during festivals and here in USA when I was younger. I can't wear it anymore, I can't fit into it. Too old and out of shape. I need to warn you about saving all your videos and anything on a Thumb drive from any place on the Internet. We might be getting our new Worldwide Internet from satellites at the end of this month. I just wanted to warn you and all the other women that I watch on You tube so you don't lose everything you worked hard on. This new Internet system will be called Quantum Internet and run off of Satellites. We will be doing our Banking, voting, education, just about everything this way. It can not be corrupted or hacked. The Space Force here in Colorado Springs, CO where I live will be in charge of it. It sounds so exciting, but I am a little nervous learning new information like this at my age and having MS too. I tend to not remember what I just learned and that could be a problem. I loved this tutorial even though I don't own a Smart doll. I just learned about the concept of these dolls. I was always wondering why they look like they have port wine stains on their vinyl? I understand why now. Perfectly, imperfect, just like me. I don't walk with crutches but I do use a cane on occasion when I feel unsteady on my feet. I was so impressed looking at the dolls that are amputees, hearing aides, skin issues, crutches. That is so sweet of them to do that. It almost made me cry looking at all the different dolls that were special needs. Unfortunately, having MS, most people don't know that I have it unless I tell them or they see me struggling to get out of a stretch or falling down, but otherwise I look normal. I printed out this dirndl pattern and hope that it can be used for my Harmony doll that is 22" tall from Ideal Toys in 1972. She has a long dirndl on right now. I have 5 of them in different outfits. I love her hippie look. Someone, from Etsy long time ago made a Gunne Sax hippie dress for her, and I also have a complete Wedding dress ensemble for her in a zip lock bag plus shoes and the veil. It is gorgeous. I have one of my Harmony's playing a real miniature acoustic guitar as well. Well, she is looking like that anyway. Hope you and Evie and Craig and Kitty are doing well? We have a real German style weather week here in Colorado, Wet and soggy all week. My grass is so dead it needs water so badly. I hope and pray it comes back to life. Talk to you soon. Oh, Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day? My son Tim surprised me by taking me out for lunch on Saturday last weekend and we went to our very favorite German Restaurant UWE's here in Colorado Springs, CO for Jager snitzel, spaetzla and I had Red Cabbage, Ghuwein and Apfel Streusel. Yummy! I am not even German, but I love their food.
