STEVEM

4 days ago

I have went through every spin-off for Evangelion and now I can see clearly all in one timeline. And I'm here to answer all the questions about the series why is there so many versions. Well of course it's very popular, However, there are definitely some  other interesting factors included. Let's start with the production committee. The way these projects are funded Evangelion, Specifically use multiple  different parties coming together, bringing their money together as a safety net. Then at th
e end, they'll all  get some sort of cut from it. This also included people like Sega who'd got  into the anime industry during the late 80s. In addition, they were ready to take it on board with an Evangelion leading to  some interesting developments. Evangelion's media mix helped popularize the theory to different TV anime stations. It was all about the different  versions of Evangelion, While they all didn't exactly connect in Timeline, They were kind of more like  an ecosphere where like, So
me of it might be quite difficult to understand unless you're already in the know. However, there is this core  pillar of what Evangelion is which is to find through all of them. Now Sega was on the ground floor here when it  came to the first video game in the franchise, Evangelion Impressions it played very much like a standard sort of visual novels  animated video Adventure game, Trying very hard to be quite close  to the show even having an OP and Ed. Now this game was actually made  in deve
lopment with the show so, A lot of the things about the show hadn't  even been completely concreted down yet. While they were recording  this and making the game, Hence, why they had someone like  Yamaguchi from Gainax working on it, To try and bring the script some form of  authenticity and it was quite a success, Successful enough to get a  sequel game the next year. Impressions 2 also started  bringing factors to the series That has become pretty much  staples like the third girl. The idea of
bringing another girl  into the dynamic of Rei and Asuka, Let's talk about that specifically  in the sponsorship right now. Wait something said there's a  disturbance in the mainframe? What is that is that Nerf no squarespace.com  who have sponsored this video. If you are looking for a website platform As someone in the digital space  and you want to look real nice Why don't you Squarespace I got  myself a nice little website here But what if for say I wanted to create an entire  gallery of all
the third girls from an Evangelion. In a very nice stylish way What if I wanted to really push into this? Campaign though and I wanted to create an email  campaign on my website to promote Mana to the masses Evangelical Style with regular updates well I could do that with Squarespace and my website especially with these flexible templates  that I can use to adjust the design to my pleasure because I'm always a stickler for how things  look I get very particular about that so check out Squarespa
ce today to get a free trial and if  you want to launch and get 10% off you can use my code www. squarespace.com/stevem first website  or domain you know what to do let's get back to This is something that has happened throughout  the entire series multiple times in fact, Impressions 2 isn't even  the first time it happened. it actually dates all the way back to the paper  and Pen RPG game that you could get in Japan only. Where they introduce a character  who was all the way from the states As
a third pilot, Hmmmm kind of  like an exchange student situation. I feel this is kind of  familiar to another third girl, But it's continued on and on and on again. Until there was a giant laundry  list of them at this point, Shout out to Mana. Impressions 2 had way more unique  animation than the first game because it came from Studio Hercules. Opposed to Tatsunoko who was the main  studio for Evangelion back in the day, So they were only giving them table  scraps of whatever they could do, Whi
le making the actual series. And both games feature the entire cast from the television show And they always tend to appraise their roles and give strong performances Which gives each version of the media mix here basically a sort of authenticity that not  always are presented in these kinds of series. But this was only the beginning of  a much broader trend in spinoffs, We're about to basically unfold into. Some ground rules though, This video is going to be more  about very specific areas. I'm
not going to go through everything  one by one I have a structure in mind, The Good the Bad and the weird. Starting in opposite directions, we're going to go through them all. Also, no amusement park rides no spin-offs  where Eva is just kind of mentioned. They have to be the main focus of the game, I'm not doing it it's got skins in it. I'm not doing any of the Super  Robot Games that's too much. We're going to go through it real concisely and  sort of runoff into random tangents I'm sure. Let
's start right at the weird with merch tie-ins. Now I'm sure at this point, everyone has seen  with the ludicrously silly or infamous adverts. That Evangelion has done over the years, They've done so many after all if it be horseracing or the  Shaving instrumentality project, you're going to see some pretty funny stuff. What interests me about the adverts of Evangelion  is they don't seem to follow the rules, That many of the spinoffs do they can basically break the  conventions as much as they
want, Because while it's an advert, you know, the characters don't have  to be the same as they were. You can basically throw them into any  situation you want in any conclusion. It almost seems like Evangelion has never  turned down the opportunity for a crossover. Therefore, I'm going to say why don't we  all just hop on the Evangelion train and go to the Japanese Evangelion sword exhibition. Let's talk about audio dramas. Evangelion as a series especially  in the spin-offs has never taken Its
elf too seriously in fact  sometimes likes to poke fun at itself. And perhaps predict the future  as we can see here with this Very specific parody Audio Drama, You can say at times that  the appeal of the spin-offs Is the levity they bring to the franchise? With people kind of yearning to get back  to that Endless Summer part of Evangelion, Before everything got bleak. After the end was written with the idea of, What if we had to make another Evangelion  series because of how successful it was?
In addition, the idea of how do we approach that? And what do we change to try and make  it either broader or appeal further, Or more of a mecha show where we  can do even more merchandising. And the ways they approach it sometimes feel  like prophecies for the future of the franchise. Which is what makes it so funny is  that it actually feels pretty authentic To the actual cause of how producers  would think in the situation. Even if every idea kind of fails completely. There's definitely s an
  idea about fan service here, As well as it kind of sort of pokes fun at it. But fan service is a key part to many  of the random pieces of media mix. Including when it comes to  things like the romance Factor. Many fans are very interested  in getting more Kaworu, As he was one of the most popular characters, And the media mix here is exactly  where you get to see the most of him. He only exists for 20 minutes  in the show after all, So if you really want more time and more effort put into tha
t characterization between them, This is where you end up. I wouldn't say that's particularly weird I think it's kind of fitting as well, This is the perfect place for  them to expand that character And its popularity has, Only gotten bigger over the years, I wonder if that's not only  just a factor of the rebuilds, But how the fans have basically been eating up every little Morsel of content they  could about him until that point. Interacting with Kaworu can also be some of  the highlights of s
ome of the goofier games. Now while the prior entry would joke  about the idea of a sequel to Evangelion. What if I told you there is a  another series of Evangelion, You've probably never even heard of? Known as Petite Evangelion. Very much a parody and a  more chibi format of the show Made definitely for people more of the know. And in CGI It's very unconventional each of  the shorts are about 2 minutes. And they're actually pretty  funny; I've got to say, I got a lot more out of them than I e
xpected they're a good little bit for  the amount of time they spend, As well as having some very off-colour  humour I wasn't expecting them to go into. Considering how the series looks but after all,  it was made for very specific fans in mind. In fact, it gets even crazier because you  have two different series of petite Evangelion With two different Studios on top of them, And the second one was done by  the director of Di Gi Charit And his composer And as soon as I figured  that out after wa
tching it It all kind of came back to  me that oh petite a Evangelion It's pretty much what if Evangelion  was di gi Charit already, So it felt very fitting even if the  music was so Cromartie high school, it really distracted me in the second half. I do generally prefer the first half  as it definitely a lot more simple And it's sort of idea and jokes but  the second half has its own charms And I think it's all worth at  least having a little look at And they kind of expanded that as his own  m
edia mix with a video game and a manga series Multiple mangas it seems As well as these two little shorts Which are ya know good for  like an afternoon I guess, If you want to see Shinji [ __ ] batteries. And in the end, we all return  to marketable plushies. Have you thought well that Misato? She seems like a reliable girl, Why doesn't she tell me the news that's  going on in the day-to-day situations? I'm sure she'd be very unbiased  and give me the whole story, No? Well I guess somebody at Ga
inax  thought you might want to, when he created the app for the Playstation 3. Misato Katsuragi's reporting plan, that's right  if you were willing to pay 800 Yen a month, Misato would tell you the news and say it  out loud through a synthesizer Vocaloid. Not only that they made an very high detail  anime cel shaded model for Katsuragi. Which has multiple different outfits  and looks fine for every angle. It's very polished Bandai Namco went  into some extra detail to do that, And they only eve
r used it in this  news app that lasted for about a year. Because of course, Bandai Namco never  made a real PS3 game with Evangelion. So it seems like a little  bit extra work for no reason But you know you can't win them all. The stripping instrumentality project, which  is a banger name I'll, got to give it that. But it has definitely a certain level of infamy And maybe a little bit of  misinformation around it. So before this game there were  two separate minigame collections. You had mahjon
g and Evangelion  characters playing card games. The mahjong game had a cute little  story where all the Gainax characters, Came together and they had  separate little story lines, About how they interact before they play games. Ya know it's perfectly harmless stuff  mainly just game collections right? But when they came to PC suddenly a  bunch of elicit material illustrations And a strip feature was brought to the game as  well as extra content for their basic modes. So I can't show any of it o
f course But you do get some very hilarious pictures, Say for example of Gendo here um I think  that makes it worth the price of Entry alone. Even though it's fairly  difficult to get out of Japan. Now this kind of comes back to  where Gainax used to be as a studio You know back in the days they  made a lot of elicit games Because that was the market and you know,  anime wasn't actually going too great for them But suddenly a Gainax becomes an explosive  success and hey why don't we throw this o
ut there After all, they're in a tax evasion  Scandal and probably paying up, A lot of money for the lawyers in that situation So maybe they're looking for anything they can fire out quickly just to make  a little cash for the studio. Also it's kind of interesting because since Gainax has a lot of experience with  these sort of digital games. They've obviously been digitally painting  maybe longer than a lot of studios, which meant that a year after this game came out, When they moved strictly t
o digital, they made  a pretty flawless actual transition with FLCL. And I wonder if somehow the  game side of the department Made that a lot easier since they've already been  using these tools for the fair couple years now. So I don't really think there's  anything that can top that one per se So let's move on to the bad, Let's call it when it comes  to like the video games. I don't know maybe Evangelion 64 that one's clunky It's kind of unpleasant to play I didn't grow up with it It's not tra
nslated its very unclear how to do stuff I don't know I don't really love it & I'm not a big Smash Bros guy either so, Maybe you know [ __ ] Evangelion Smash Bros here, Isn't exactly my cup of tea either or if I really  want to say which one disappointed me the most It's probably going to be girlfriend of Steel 2 Because I'm a big fan of the first game And I feel the second game feels  kind of Unfinished and like there's a big hole in the story. And it sort of starts l in a bit too much on like
some of the you  know basic tropes of Evangelion When it was more so I thought more appealing  to stay in that kind of Endless Summer, More High School setting from episode 26. But really, what it comes down to Is I don't have a lot of animosity for the  games per se because I can understand that, Even if Evangelion was a big franchise, most of these games were made  on pretty like small budgets. With small audience expectations, Pretty much all of them didn't  even leave Japan for example. And
that can be kind of frustrating and way  I guess if you wanted to really experience EVA if you wanted to feel like  Evangelion after all right? Since you never really got  that like major opportunity, The closest thing I can think of In that world, is probably the PSP game Evangelion Jo. Which did have the sort of Mecha action to  it and it's relatively fluid for a PSP game. But it still mechanically feels  very rough around the edges And it's quite easy to go into a fail State just by not under
standing that you needed  to buy a bunch of weapons beforehand However, there has been some rumours going  around now they could be complete bunk. But people have been saying that since Sega has  been doing a revitalization of a lot of their IPs The potential that they might be  bringing back Evangelion themselves As a full at least semi budgeted game Finally giving people a sort of persona  meets Armoured Core like experience I'm sure. All right moving on to Java phone games, Before Evangelion
was Pride  from Gainax's dead hands They were firing out as much  stuff as they probably could. And a lot of that came with a  random assortment of Java Games, Honestly some of them look kind of cute. And there is a novelty to the idea of a 3D fighting game on an old OLD phone. Or just the idea of something like Eva RPG that could have actually been a cute  experience I would have liked to play. But most of this is lost media now and I  don't know if we'll ever actually find it. Unless someone h
as all the  rips of them in Japan somewhere And like a desktop I don't know, But...regardless there is a sort of habit in  this space for stuff to be lost with Evangelion. Because of the sort of mass  production element to it. I mean hell I would have tried  Evangelion golf for like 2 seconds, sure and almost hasn't really changed. Because if you go towards the newer phones  when it comes to Smartphone applications. At this point unless you  live in Japan or maybe China, every single one of thes
e has been discontinued. I even tried to download the Amazon app  store and buy the stupid puzzle game And it just wouldn't work Even though it was offered on store. Most these games though to be fair are just kind of reskins of popular mobile  games from that time period, You know quick cash grabs most likely, Although one of them the gacha game Memoria had almost 2 million users. And now it's gone forever, Although some of the artwork still remains... The last app game that was sort of made  p
redominant was I believe called Battlefields* And this one kind of went the extra mile, It had a ton of like story mode features A lot of those have been archived on the  channel 8 number two with translations too If you want to see, what happened it also  includes the first fourth girl. In terms of we, both have Mari in this game but  also a secret spy spin-off girl. So it really never ends I guess And while manga's discontinue  and games Stop getting produced. And apps eventually get closed do
wn. What I will tell you there is one guaranteed thing  that will always exist in the Evangelion Universe. Pachinko machines. These things have been blasting Out numbers since the beginning of the franchise. And are still going to this day. I mean if you look at the [ __ ] Shin Godzilla the  ex Evangelion like it's the stupidest thing ever, But it's also Peak hot goated fire with the sauce And I'm like in awe of it. When it comes to the animations, it's  just frustrating that they don't exist. I
n maybe some kind of own short format and only  exist on these stupid [ __ ] gambling boxes. and how the gambling boxes themselves have been so  popular they even made a spin-off manga about it. That went for 14 volumes about an office lady who  loves playing specifically Evangelion pachinko. I don't know how you can stretch that story  out for longer than perhaps the mainline manga. But go off on it I get the appeal suddenly more than I do Pachinko machines  themselves I'll say that much, But h
ell, I mean I'm obviously  not a Target demographic, Because they have made billions of Yen from  these Pachinko machines, we know that for a fact. Well this Evangelion stuff is crazy  you know what else is crazy Patron support that's the lifeblood of this channel thank you very much everyone who actually supports on basis even  in the smallest things it all keeps everything going including you know getting random pieces  of stuff for this a research that includes.. Thank you very much and I hop
e  you've enjoyed the marathon we' were doing lately anyway back to the video Right so now we're through the bad you  know the bottom of the barrel stuff And you know it's not so bad let's  talk a little bit about the good I want to talk about all my favourite  spin-offs in the Evangelion franchise I'm going to do it in list  form ranked from 10 to 1 And this is kind of loose cuz I'm  just kind of going off the Dome here But let's just get right onto it. So I'm going to start with  sound impact
on the PSP, Which was made by Suda 51 and grasshopper  of all people it's never actually translated But it's kind of quite unconventional, Which you know fits their  mould it's a rhythm game, That involves an original score of remixes by not only Shiro Sagisu but also produced  by Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill Fame. So it is a very strange combination of uh  talent you have about six styles of Rhythm modes Here and they all have their own flavour there's  about 30 songs that have been remixed her
e And you know you could probably flatten  it if you're really good at Rhythm games I'm not that great at Rhythm games but I still  think that this game is worth giving a go It has its own creative flare as  expected from grasshopper of course, But also, it's just really funny  to see some of these Angel fight mode especially when you blow them up at the end. Have you ever felt like you should  be crunching your hours as a nerve employee rarely going home working in the same  clothes for until t
he stench is unbearable? Well boy do I have a game for you I think it  translates to something like Raising Angel project It's kind of fun seeing Kaji's  version of the story here. You're playing this Tomigachi  esc experience with the angel As you, raise it And adjust it and changing its stats you will find  different variations that it will come up through And there's a lot of different ways It can turn out in the end You get to kind of really  feel how the nerve base exists You get a lot of b
ackground information  on certain characters what they do What they're finding out here you  get to meet all the classic crew And even get some funny situations with Shinji  dad playing card games all the way into the night I will say if I had one critique of the  game, it's a little bit basic in that You spend a lot of time going back and forth back And forth looking for random items Talking to the same people and hoping  something new is about to happen Before you then have to rush back to the
  angel to clean out its tank and adjust it But I would say it is a fun  little portable Game on the Go Which has an actual translation It was originally for the wonderswan But yeah nobody has a wonderswan these days I'd give it a go and remember to change  the filters often or your angel will die. And here we have raising ayanami This is similar to the princess  Maker games that Gainax used to make. But this is by broccoli all right I  mean they kind of got me on a vice here. Because whatever D
ejiko says I have to do so I mean because she's in this  game it's got to be on the list. So let's talk about some manga, This is Angelic days or girlfriend of Steel  second and I wasn't a big fan of the game as much I thought it was just not quite there Were elements about it I didn't really feel? It all added up in a cohesive way  in the same way the first game did But the manga actually from a shojo publication  has a kind of different vibe for it, It's a little bit more serious  it's a littl
e bit more cohesive through its story it has a trajectory in mind And I think it actually takes the  more Nerve & Evangelion elements And while they are in the story, they  play a bit more to the background of the actual character dramas  of the individual characters. The Romance or their interactions and I think  it has a mixture, which is good between, Following that basic outline  from girlfriend of Steel But then adding its own drama and sort  of introspection into these characters. Some of
them like having endings that are more definitive Are they quite nice I like that about them? I think it is earnest and um maybe a  nice change of pace for some versions. And now let's talk about the original manga Now this one actually predates the show though it's part of the same sort of production cycle It actually started several months before and pretty much the whole thing is consistently  following the structure of the show Although there are some really nice  additions and changes which
are worthwhile When it comes to the sort of original scenes  that's what I would have liked to see more of But the ones they do have I think are probably  some of the strongest in terms of characterization Another different change is that Shinji is a  little bit more sassy he's a little more direct in this version than he is perhaps in the anime However, I would say that Sadamoto's manga overall is a little bit more direct  and clear almost a bit like The rebuild in that it sort of likes to  no
t necessarily hold too many secrets Too close and likes to experience and give  the characters a context in that world And I can totally see why some  people actually do for it cuz it kind of streamlines some elements from the anime Takes a lot of the Beats sort of brings it all through and what it does have  is a very very solid ending. it's probably one of my favourites  in the series in that it kind of fits a sort of neat point between  sort of shin Evangelion more sort of like Ultra optimism
ending In addition, the bleakness of end of Eva and it fits it fits in  real nice between those two points. I don't know if this is a popular choice, It might be a little controversial to put this one so much higher on the  list in terms to the other manga's However, I got to give it to Pico Pico and  that like it hit me I think it's very funny and it feels almost like Evangelion sort  of taken to the absolute limit up to 11 In terms of what's happening the goofiness  the breaking of the fourth
wall breaking down on Gendo it goes places let's say that much and I'd say those places make it kind of feel  similar to something like Cromartie high and if that's the kind of vibe you're  going for this is one for you I would say after all this is the manga about the  Evangelion crew becoming professional Gamers to help fight Angels sometimes but the way they do that is perhaps not the most helpful yeah I  think everyone should check it out really, if you are maybe like me at this point  and
you've seen so much Evangelion and the same beats again and again. That you wanted something a little bit different or something that at least  completely through those tropes and those statements to the ground and smash  them to bits while playing retro video games. From a kind of more New Era  Evangelion this is the stage show, known as stage Evangelion Beyond. This is one of the first in the franchise to have nothing to do with the core cast. but the story does reflect the sort of  core flavo
rs and aspects of Evangelion, but really sets this sort of thing apart from the others obviously, outside of being live action  is its art Direction and music. it's all executed perfectly even if  you don't understand the dialogue. Because it hasn't really been translated yet and  I don't know if it'll ever will be translated. I don't if it really matters is because the way the black box approach is handled here  is unlike anything I've really ever seen because you have these giant LED screens a
nd  they effectively create the set which makes it just something that you can be in awe of even  if you don't understand what's happening per se also I got to give it to these sort of like  Evangelion puppets that are basically Oni and how they interpret the  angel battles is very distinct Girlfriend of Steel one. This is a Gainax game development, which one of the first of those Works to feel pretty cohesive with  the world of Evangelion. in that it possibly could  have been like a lost episod
e and that's something that the price against were  trying to do with their sort of Animation approach and scenarios this one really sort of  captures something that's far more compelling it doesn't necessarily feel like  a b side an artificial version. Girlfriend of Steel has these twists and turns, it's an evolving narrative. Introducing one of the most iconic third girls, Mana. who is very similar to what we'd eventually get with Mari even though there's  like less animation than those prior
Sega games I feel like the core illustrations are really  tight and this might be the first game to introduce the idea of the sort of what if endings lot these a Evangelion games now love to do there's a lot of really goofy  ones here which set the standard but also when it comes to the actual story I think it actually really works especially if you take on perhaps the more  direct bitter sweet ending. Although I got to say it gets very  wacky in the sort of second half the first half stays fair
ly cohesive  outside of a couple little bits. Like the Evangelon fishing moment. But the second half really goes off a cliff into a sort of very goofy territory, closer to something like the African Arc in Nadia, because of the sort of  extended position of the game. It gets away with it a lot  better than maybe the show would. If Evangelion 1 is so good why  isn't there an Evangelion 2? well there is it's a video game on the PS2  that sold very well and was very popular and its creators kind of
would  probably put that towards them spending a lot of time with the Gainax crew. And allegedly spending almost 10 hours with Anno, to try and database down a  ton of interview questions. As well as find the inner secrets of Evangelion, maybe this game would probably be most well known for that in terms of it has all these secrets and pieces of a lore written to the bank. That you can unlock through hacking as Kaworu. Are those correct, it's hard to say I mean  most of them have been translate
d this point. You can check them out yourself though, I feel that the original show  has all the information you need. these ones are more like supplementary  fun little bits where I would feel they might not necessarily fit into the current lore but you know it's cute it's cute to see these little things here look. After all the reason we really are  here is to make Kaworu and Shinji kiss. Evangelion 2 is perhaps the  Holy Grail of these games. you know you can punch war and it's funny, and of
course you can play as  all these different characters. and there all these different endings, but it  really does sort of categorize what feels to be the quote right way to handle the  sort of Evangelion format in a game which is to basically make it like a Persona game even if this one predates those Persona  games everyone sort of talks about. And knows it effectively  holds on to that structure. Though in that on one half of the  game it is basically a life Sim, where you interact and you  t
ry and build relationships with these characters that you were talking to, if that be romantically or physically. but that side of the game actually then  affects the other side of the game, which is then the Evangelion piloting. You will be rewarded for the amount of energy, you put into the other side. With more stats basically, which does reflect the attitude of the show. And if you have to open up your heart to your unit and Evangelion, for it to actually function at its best. and that you k
now if you're more confident you  tend to be more confident when actually fighting. And the way you fight in this game  is probably a good balance in that, this is more of a tactical RPG. It's all about the amount of time you have left and your placement to attack them. that's a little bit more turn-based. Although yeah sure it would be absolutely  nice if this was a translated game, because there is just so much  dialogue and so much content in it. I have heard there are people  working on a tr
anslation of it. But it still remains to be  seen when that ever comes out. People like Reichu have actually done  a lot of translating on their Channel And she has also I believe transcripted  pretty much every ending of the game. So if you really want to get  just like a flavour of the game that's a good place to go in or you could just kind of go in like dry and just try and figure it out. E v a n g e l i o n. So let's get to the top space this  is going to be Evangelion anima, definitely fav
ourite of mine. Yamashita, the writer was asked  exclusively by Anno to write this one. Along with the mechanical director of the series, who's brought into to make these new designs. a lot of new Evangelion in here it's effectively  a story in the universes of Evangelion that feels more so like what if the  original television show had a sequel and you know the sort of third  impact didn't quite happen, there's some mild changes there  does sort of go back into that tone, as well as having a Ti
me skip. So the characters are older than they were prior. I don't know if I want to say too much about it cuz I feel like it's kind of the one where, I'm like just read it you  you'll see it gets really wacky. Things like you know did you think  three Reis was a maybe a little much, well now we can have the third Rei, child Rei, evil Rei. We have one of the other Reis, I know it's a whole bunch of them. and the story takes that in its own Direction with new enemies and new twists and turns. For
the old heads in the chat, Tiffany Grant has been recording a audio  book version of these light novels. I think right now only the first  volumes out, but I gave it a listen and I think it's pretty great. I think they did a Pretty solid job with it and of course you can find the  other light Novels around too. It's not that hard. And I think if you're going to try anything out, this is the one to just go there. I appreciate it being I suppose its own story  and its own follow on and its own ti
meline. Which after going through so many  different like repeating patterns. Is nice to see but also the seeing those things  repeat in Eva and Evangelion is kind of fun In that, you can kind of  feel your own taste evolve. Like I remember when I first watched  Evangelion many many years ago, I don't know if I was that really warm on  it kind of had some mixed feelings about it I wasn't exactly hating or anything. But, over the time I think I've  came to appreciate the series more, And, going t
hrough all these spin-offs makes me  feel about like what is the actual appeal to me What do I like about the series what do  what like facets of the stories am I into. between the sorts of like  lightness of the School drama, I guess the real drama of  sort of being Mecha Pilots? And how that is reinterpreted  by different companies and different stories and you know  when you really see a story hit, its like ah, Yeah that's it. And with that old I will go  back to the classic Anno saying, that
he would like to gundamize Evangelion. And who knows what the future holds on that one. As right now, we haven't seen  too many entries recently but a more selective approach  to different adaptations And different new versions of Evangelion would be much appreciated for me and until then, I look forward to the future and Evangelion forever.

@Nipah.Auauau

Really loving the art director aesthetic you got going on as you take us down a history of licensed shitposts and Pachinko games.

@Black_Knight15

your costume is peak

@Gunsight-One

Thats alot of Evangelion side projects you covered. I actually purchased the N64 Neon Genesis Evangelion game back in the day and to say the controls are clunky is an understatement. Once you get the hang of it it wasn't so bad. It was a crowd pleaser though, as I remember friends actually being impressed with the presentation of the game, until you handed them a controller. 😂

It's funny you mention Sound Impact, because that game was the runner up for the Handheld Kusoge of 2011 Wiki's mention that not only does the action on the screen not match the rhythm of the game, but the rewards are not exactly great, including one particular off-model looking Rei that gets a chuckle out of me Also Im surprised you didnt mention the Eva Detective game (Im a big fan of Eva and Friends, I like Mahjong and the interactions with the Gainax character)

@rexraptor.

20/10 would get in the robot

@TheThomasTom

I am so glad that you mentioned the stage show! Possibly because it is so new, a lot of people don't seem to know about it (or 2.5D in general) but found it fascinating. :)
