one time for my manga readers one time for my Anime Bros lame people can't tell the difference one time for somebody who knows the response Reaper back to claim another victim I came out of my break for this one in this video I'll be responding to Shonen War arcs need to stop by spare mango let's get into it I'll start with my case for war arcs I like Shonen War arcs wait Shonen is a demographic I like battle manga War arcs because they make perfect sense as a finale battle manga are usually fil
led with 1 V1 fights and war is an elevated version of a fight with multiple battles with multiple combatants happening all at the same time it's the perfect peak of escalation to end a battle manga on just like romance anime should end with a final confession in The Last Arc battle anime should end with a war Arc mango seems to agree with this but he also thinks that war ARS can easily become lengthy uninteresting and Bloated length is never a problem it just matters how interesting the story i
s what does he count as un interesting hopefully we'll find out then he says a bewildering quote at 129 because that just becomes a crutch that replaces the hard work to develop the story towards the ending it deserves at some point the overindulgence is too much and it starts hurting the story you can't just throw everything to the side to make the easiest and most generic endings Possible Oh that's a lot let's break it down why is a war arcer crutch I've explained battle syndrome in my own vid
eo but I doubt he's talking about the same thing because I made that up what does he count as hard work what does he count as overindulgence what does he mean by throwing everything to the side and finally generic is not a good argument for saying that something is bad will these questions be answered stay tuned then he continu continues in 152 after you pull in everything and everyone to come back for a huge War at the end of the story it takes away from the impact of the series because it star
ts to feel less like a story and more like a cheap immersion breaking grab for attention with a low effort ending anyone can bring back all the characters and have a big fight but there's a reason Naruto's War at Le why does bringing back every character feel immersion breaking to Mango in a real war both sides are going to try to use every tool at their disposal so if an author wants to do the same using every single character that they still have available then as long as it doesn't break the
logic of the story what is the problem hopefully he'll answer this he compliments Naruto and dises MJ I'll be transparent I haven't gotten to the war Arc properly but I have read some of the most recent chapters and I've looked up summaries and breakdowns of most of the events from what I've heard I like how this Arc sounds and can't wait to read it in fact I think it is doing some things better than Naruto particularly giving each character a send off bakugo shows the fruits of his completed ch
aracter Arc by sacrificing his life ITA has a call back to him using his speed to bring in reinforcements like in the usj arc Todoroki and his parents finally conclude their series long internal and external conflict with dbby or raka also completes her long conflict with toga which ends with toga having an arc and Deku is currently completing his internal and external conflict with shigaraki Deku Al might bakugo uraraka and Todoroki all get gritty epic final battles this is something I wish Nar
uto had several characters completed their long running arcs showing the fruits of their Arc and having an epic final battle no one in Naruto got an epic 1 V one or even a battle focused solely on them towards the end of the war Sasuke and Itachi fight kabo together but that was in the middle once the tent tail showed up it was always Team battles the closest thing to a solo Spotlight was when everyone started using new Jutsu around the three-way deadlock so with all of that praise to mha what d
oes mango have to say he complains that a third of the manga has been dedicated to this portion what's the problem with that I've personally always had an issue with the school arcs and now the heroes are in real action with no safeguards that's what I've been waiting for he says characters have been brought back from nowhere but shows two UA students the fine brought back from nowhere he complains about giving each character some Spotlight that's ridiculous in a war where all characters are fig
hting he's complaining that characters get to have their own fights or their own moments I cannot see how this is a negative if anything mha is bring out the full potential of his characters this is the last Arc and is going out with a bang and spreading the love around for all the characters he said hero didn't build up to all of this build up to what exactly because the war was definitely built up to shigaraki and aler one had been making small moves throughout the entire story to prepare for
war also don't like training arcs but I won't call them all mediocre he says all the arcs had very little in common the students were trained to become hero that's what they have in common he said afo and shiky weren't set up until the Liberation Army that's wrong in season one they attacked in the usj AR to weaken the school and test out the nomu in the stain Arc they hired stain and got more nomu in the Force training they stole bakugo and tried to kill all might in the next Arc in the overall
Arc they worked with overall and got his Goods he's plain wrong about the buildup he says multiple fights on multiple fronts is something a war Arc shouldn't do I disagree it makes perfect sense for a war to have multiple simultaneous fights I agree with the fake deaths I don't agree with the time to to shine I can't fathom how someone would complain about giving every character time to shine it doesn't matter if you don't like the character all deserve the spotlight and it's honorable that her
o is doing this he says it Slaughters the pacing without explaining how I bet his real problem is that he read it week to week and it felt unsatisfying you should never judge a story's Pace based on his release schedule you should judge it based on how it was paced when all is said and done he says having a character join the battle to save the day kills the stakes because the heroes are no longer in real danger this is not a good argument first I think he means tension not Stakes Stakes are wha
t there is to lose t is the feeling that something could go wrong second I disagree that bringing in a character to save the day eliminates tension because the characters could still lose it doesn't undermine the tension especially if we already knew the newcomer was alive and a participant in the war fake out deaths harm tension because now when another character looks like they're about to die I don't believe they'll actually die at the end of the section he says MJ is terrible overall and eve
rything begins to make [Music] sense based on this quote just because a war Arc is short doesn't mean it's safe end quote I assume that he likes when War arcs are short this SP has negatively impacted his judgment up until now aot isn't a battle manga but it does end in a war I have my own video on why I don't like the ending he said the final battle against Aaron was soulless what are we talking about Aaron's philosophy was basically if the world hates me and my kind and wants us all to die I'l
l kill them all first and then the eldians and marlean mortal enemies have to work together to stop this new Threat by working together to stop a great evil they're able to make peace with each other and abandon their Petty racism how is that soulless if anything aot before the time skip was soulless and mostly thrilling action and survival he complains about the faceless nameless Titans and I agree I didn't like the zetsu Army in Naruto either and then he said aot had an emotionless payoff if i
t ended with armen's nuke he'd be completely wrong he still is wrong even with the Mikasa crap but it wasn't the good kind of emotions he complains about Aaron going silent but ignores the fact that Aaron made his point and said that no one would change his mind which is why he was silent he says the final battle was easy it definitely should have been harder in context but it was not easy I guess that's what happens when you desire a short war Arc so he complained about the war in mha being too
long and the war in aot being too short pick a side buddy he argues that all parties in mha didn't feel like they were invested in the fight a villain wants to take down my school and kill all heroes if I'm a hero what more investment do you need for me as an audience member I don't care if setsuna toag is fighting in the war because I can logically connect the dots as to why she'd be invested in the war regardless of her minimal screen time if they lose the war she dies the [Music] end I'll be
transparent I dropped fire force because it wasn't meeting my expectations but let's hear what he has to say immediately he shows his short bias by mentioning that the war is 50 chapters quote every battle is treated as important end quote so is every battle in every Ares mentioned you see how much detail he went into the internal conflict of Arthur's battle did you see him do that for mha I didn't I had to do it for mha which shows that he could have done it as well this is a common Trend I se
e in videos I respond to they go into detail on the stories that they like but put minimal effort into the stuff that they don't like he compliments fire force for being set up but didn't do the same for mha or aot in fact he incorrectly said that M wasn't set up 1057 so when we're seeing a side character fight we realize that this specific moment is important and we are actually feeling and seeing the plot regress the more they fight the more hope is built and the more time they buy to save the
world but it's a constant nonstop struggle with real tangible losses on both sides and a fake six [ __ ] like in my hero Academia and the promise never and attack on tit he made some leaps in logic to justify Side characters fighting here when he criticized the same thing in mha but the logic is all just mumbo jumbo he doesn't give solid enough proof to justify what he's saying he just hopes you'll trust him I can use that exact quote for mha and you would be able to tell the difference his bia
s is showing in broad daylight listen to this 11:45 you need very strong themes and those need to be demonstrated by every character every fight has to actively contribute to the end goal and every fight needs to be built up to and given the development it needs you need to accomplish all of this with a strong cast of character you've built and invested time into and you need to do it with meaningful villains that oppose the heroes in interesting ways and bring the most out of them these can be
pre-existing characters or foils in some way like doppelgangers or returning characters be it from the dead or from somewhere else the pacing has to be tight you need to finish one fight and immediately relate it to the next no cutting away to focus on small Stakes characters that have no impact on anything the pacing has to be fast and you need to give each fight dramatically by recognizing the result of that fight on the plot there needs to be a strong tangible push and pull between the two si
des remember it's a war Arc so there needs to be actual ground gained and lost there should always be a very clear direct objective limit fight interventions if too many fights are interrupted then the fights weight starts to fall away because you feel like at any time the fight could be interrupted you Naruto fights contribute to multiple themes present specifically obido MAA and Sasuke each represented an anti- theme mois was not completely addressed though one of the major themes in hero is t
hat everyone can be saved guess what that theme is present in dbby toga and shigaraki's fights which are three of the four most important fights so far and those are the only fights I personally know as I haven't read the entire Arc and aot I already explain the themes but to recap the theme is that Harmony and unity is better than Discord and that is shown all throughout the war he says a lot of Bumbo jumbo but he brings up interruptions again I don't know how bad the interruption issue actuall
y is and going based on his biases I'd assume it's not that bad but the four major fights Deku bakugo raka and Todoroki didn't just have people showing up to bail them out and once again if we knew the newcomer character was present in the war I don't see much of an issue with them being used to bail out another character although I would prefer characters to mostly finish their own [Music] fights then he starts complimenting jjk which is amusing to me first of all he isn't even talking about a
jjk war this video is about war arcs he doesn't explain how jjk properly builds up to each fight in his own standards he just says it does he says each fight is given the importance necessary due to the amount of 1 V one brawls how does that make sense he said jjk fights have fast pacing but he doesn't explain how or why he just made a bunch of vague compliments and expected the audience to go with it then he said jjk struggled with character development which I don't completely agree with but h
e doesn't allow elate so I can't really either but you can watch my video on wasted characters for more insight he also said that he wouldn't talk about one piece since his final war Arc hasn't happened but a jjk isn't ending in a war B he didn't talk about the end of jjk and C he still found an excuse to mention jjk despite A and B he start trying to argue that certain stories left their core behind but a stories don't just have one core and B stories can adopt new cores he argued aot was about
a kid wanting to see the world and that's why the war was bad because he sees the world and it becomes a blank fight and all meaning is discarded what does that even mean anyway I could argue that aot was about survival and that this was greatly depicted in the war then he has the arrogance to say that he's going to give us a master class on literature while making fun of these Pro mangaka if he at least showed that he had writing chops through the script of this video I could let that slide bu
t what he showed is that he just operates on fields and doesn't even test his own Logic the fact that so many of his Praises towards stories he loved could be aimed at stories that he hated shows how little he actually challenged himself in this video my actual issue with war arcs is how they don't feel like Wars but Battle Royal what I call a battle royale is how most bleach arcs go a bunch of 1 V ones happening at the same time a war Arc should have squads within an army there should be combat
arms like infantry artillery and Cavalry that are designed for The Unique setting it should have military tactics it should take advantage of the terrain there should be zones occupied by different armies Naruto is one of the only battle stories to get close to that shakugan no Shana did too but that's a light novel anime here are some comparisons the yonar and soul Society arcs were wen't War arcs yet they felt like bleach's War Arc the Force training and overhaul arcs aren't War arcs yet they
felt like Heroes War a war should be a war not a Battle [Music] Royale in conclusion spare mango wore his biases on his sleeve and allowed them to manipulate his analysis rather than operating on universal principles he relied heavily on trust me bro rather than offering adequate evidence and he misinterpreted things and was misinformed on the stories that he didn't like it's easy to forget all the points someone made when they've been talking for a long time that's why I split my arguments up
into body paragraphs and recap everything at the end remember those questions I asked towards the start let's see if they were answered why is a war Archer crutch unanswered what does he count as uninteresting unanswered what does he count as hard work unanswered what does he count as overindulgence he probably means giving everyone a fight but it's okay when fire force does it but not mha because apparently one side is set up he provides no proof for that just trust him what does he mean by thr
owing everything to the side died unanswered why does bringing back every character feel immersion breaking because it wasn't set up according to him but again it's okay if fire force does it it's also okay if fire force has characters fight evil versions of themselves because it was set up yet somehow characters who've existed for hundreds of chapters in mha aren't counted as set up additionally he doesn't praise aot for setting up his characters why is length a problem in war arcs unanswered h
is bias towards short war arcs is never explained here are some other arguments he made multiple fights on multiple fronts is something a war Arc shouldn't do unless it's fire fire force once again it's Justified with a bias view of setup because he likes fire force having a character join a battle to save the day kills the six because the hero is in no real danger this might be the only thing he goes into detail on and stays consistent on every battle is treated as important in fire force becau
se it's fire force meanwhile mha and aot are overindulging and Bloated just trust him that five force does it better no need for proof the fight should contribute to the theme but he only takes notice when fire force does it not Naruto not mha and not aot these were his arguments and he had the audacity to call this a master class this is a mess I knew I wasn't going to like this video based on the title alone but I didn't expect to dislike it this much response Reaper rest his [Music] case

@YumesukeSutashika

His goal in the video is to praise Fire Force while putting down everything else (whether he's aware of it or not). That's why he did mental gymnastics to criticize other manga for doing the same things he praise Fire Force for doing. If he was self aware and was actually trying to come up with rules for war arcs, he wouldn't have these blatant contradictions in his video.

@Ajgamesalot

The fact that I just watched this yesterday 😭😂

@MineShackle

His My Hero points weren’t even worth addressing. He said that he loved My Villain Academia but also said that the war wasn’t build up. Keep in mind the arc is about Shigaraki taking his place as the leader of the villain faction and taking over the Liberation ARMY. Also he complained that the side characters don’t matter while complaining when they got shine. Just a messy analysis

@chasinghaze0962

I consider Bleach TYBW to be a pretty decent war arc(except the rushed stuff ofc). It has some elements of tactical war. Surprise attacks by Quincies, declaration of war, then attacking before the date they declared. Plans for potential threats(confining Ichigo to Hueco Mundo, dealing with Yamamoto by killing his Lieutenant and destroying squad 1 first, Bankai stealing, etc), also changing terrain to their advantage(changing Soul Society into Wharwelt gives them tactical advantage like Lille Baro sniping Hisagi,etc.). We also do see low level soldiers fighting quite a bit even tho they are fodder af. It does get battle royale style in the later part for sure. And Soul Society arc I consider a rescue arc. Hueco Mundo is a long saga consisting for different type of arcs(rescue, battle royale, war, etc) Anyways great video.

@skullknight4579

even tho naruto war didn't have cool one vs ones, the different battle fields were an great kakashi regime vs the 7 ninja swordmen the samurai vs hanzo choji and team then we had naruto on every battle field, kinda felt more like tradition war compared to mha not dissing mha

@twinbrosgamersja4919

Bro I just watch his video 2 days ago lol. Don't remember correctly

@dragfang3723

Actually his video generally hits the right points and the problems with those war arcs and mentiins the ones that do it right
