it's pretty tough to see anything out across  there with a naked eye especially trying to find a a yellow cow a yellow heer or a charlet cross  heer the other day we moved out of this pasture this is a fairly good sized pasture it's probably  five sections maybe six and we moved all of these first calf heers over into a section traps so  that we could keep our eye on them caving a couple of them had already caved and since then I  think about three or four more have caved however when we left th
is pasture there was one cow that  we were missing now my Uncle Ray he said he saw that heer in here but he couldn't tell she was too  far away if she had caved or was going to C anyway I'm back in here going going I'm actually going  over here towards the canyon to uh check on some cows but I thought I'd just give it a quick look  real quick and see if I could find this heer so I've been up here on this hill this is probably  the highest point of the pasture looking with binoculars I might see
something right now I'm not  sure going to have to pull my bxs out and take a a look over there it could just be some yellow  grass that looks like a cow but anyway down in the corner of that uh trap where we put all of  those first calf heers I see a heer down there in the corner so I am going to fly the Drone down  there and look at her and uh see if she's trying to C if she's caved if she's just hanging out down  there or what the deal is so uh jump jump on the Drone with me and let's fly dow
n there all right  we're not going to really jump on the Drone but we are going to fly down there and uh take a look  and I'll record it so you'll see it same as I do but before that I'm going to get my binoculars  out and I'm going to look across there and see if that's a cow I'm seeing or if it's just my  imagination wanting to see a cow sometimes you guys that are ranchers you'll know you get out in  the country like this and you're wanting to find something and uh you can almost talk yoursel
f into  thinking that something's over there so like if I was horseback without binoculars I would probably  ride over there because I'm convinced enough that I see something that I would ride over there and  then I'd find out that it was just some yellow grass or something but with binoculars we can take  a look and that's what I'm going to do right now okay here we go taking off with the Drone we're  going to fly down there and see what we see let's go well dang it we got out there a ways and
and the battery level on this drone was pretty low so I turned around I'm flying back  hopefully I'll make it back before we run out of battery I found with these drones if you  are not using them all the time and keep the batteries bumped up completely to full you can  think that you have your batteries charged up and uh when you go to use them you only have  about a 3/4 charge on them so I'm still a mile out flying back in as fast as I can I've got  19% battery left so we're going to we're go
ing to see if we can get it here before it before  it goes down I might have waited a little too long that was a little scary right there the  Drone made it back with 4% battery left and it was fixing to set itself down which is what  it'll do if it runs out of battery I over I overrode the critically low battery signal a  couple of times on the way back with it and was holding my breath that it would make it  back and we did barely I guess next time it says critically low battery returning to h
ome  I shouldn't override it I should uh turn around and come back cuz I just about didn't make it  anyway anyway we didn't find the heer yet we're going to keep looking but I do see some cows in  this next pasture over we're going to go put out some supplement for them got supplement right  here and go see if those cows have started cin yet well we have a few Cales right or a few  cows right there none of them have caled yet obviously and I don't know why those cows are  hanging around right th
ere we have them locked out of that water I did feed them a little  cake right there which I don't know probably shouldn't have done but I kind of have a hard  time driving by cows when I have cake and uh I know they want it so I fed them a little bit of  cake they're water and over the hill Oh about a mile to the east we're going to go check this  other water up here on the south end of this pasture these cows are kind of out of mineral  they still have a molasses tub we'll uh freshen up their
mineral right here quite  a few cows here there is I'm seeing one calf these cows are all oh two  calvs I see two Cals these cows are all going to start calving  here pretty soon that cow right over there's got a calf and there's a  cow right over here with a brand new baby cow over there just  barely cabbed not too long ago all right we fed a little cake we put out  some uh some mineral the cows with the Cavs they left and that's fine I like that I think  there was another cow over there coming
in and she had a baby we'll drive by and look at  her I threw out a another tub of protein right here for these cows so they should  be in pretty good shape we'll leave them to it this is our South Creek pasture and it's a really  good place to cab these cows in they can get down out of the wind if the wind's blowing they  can get off into a secluded spot it's uh not totally flat so there's a lot of lower line  places where these cows can get down out of the wind and uh if you're not from this
part of the  country it probably looks like we're about out of feed here but uh if you're from our neck of  the woods and out here in the southwest where things are dry this pasture still has quite  a bit of Feed in it and these cows are still doing relatively well we're hoping of course  for some green feed hope for a little rain a little more rain this uh spring and early summer  but generally speaking in this neck of the woods in this part of the country we grow our feed in  July and August a
nd sometimes a little bit into September that's when we get what we call our  Monsoon rains and that's when we we basically grow the majority of our feed occasionally  we'll luck out a little bit and we'll get a little rain or a little moisture in the spring  whether it comes in the form of rain or snow and it'll green Up This Grass just a little bit  but doesn't really grow a lot of feed that time of year like I say our our growing season is  July August and September for the most part it'll us
ually hopefully start raining around  the 4th of July and uh rain off and on all the way through July into August and if we're lucky  it'll keep raining in September and it'll stay warm there's a tank right over there across  that wash that is a little bit uh tough to get to in a pickup so I'm going to  fly over there and make sure there's water in it before I drive over  there and put uh to put out any supplement I n there's a good tank of water over there  so we'll drive over there it looked l
ike it looked like they were out of supplement also  and I didn't see any uh protein tub over there there were some tubs looked like they had all  had uh mineral in them and they looked empty so we'll go over there and freshen that up  for cows that are watering in this tank here like I said it's a little bit tough to get to  you got to go down here and kind of go down through this wash then crawl out over there  on that hill just on the east side of the tank not a whole lot of tracks around her
e where  cows have been watering here but the cows that we just watered or just uh saw up there at that  other water they're not too far from here really it's just about a mile mile and a half up there so  we put out some mineral and a tub and there's one cow here right there and then there's another cow  right over there I think that was starting to come in anyway we've got them set with a protein tub  and mineral since this tank is a little bit tough to get into not a whole lot of water in tha
t tank  but there is there is enough that it'll last for a little while that's probably really only about uh  3 ft deep clear out in the middle of it so when we start getting some warmer days and the wind starts  blowing this spring that water may go kind of fast no babies in this bunch of cows but we're going  to feed them a little cake they look pretty good actually we'll cake them on this two Track  Road right here behind me it's good uh packed gravel right here and  they should be able to pi
ck all this cake up without stomping any of it really  into the ground so let's see we have one two about 20 head we'll feed them we'll feed him 50 lbs of cake right here  be a little over two lbs per head d w wow wow w w we all right guys we're going to call it a  day thanks for joining us today didn't get a whole lot done but we did get a chance  to look at some cows and see some baby Cals coming my favorite time of year right  now actually Brandon's my favorite time of year no Fall's my favor
ite time of year I  like them all when win spring summer rodeos fall it's all fun all right guys we'll  uh see you next time thanks for joining us the beo Missouri thanks for watching flake out out oh
