ILLIT ‘SUPER REAL ME’ Concept Explained | Brand Film Breakdown

Hello and welcome back to Bookish Theories! :D Today we dive into ILLIT’s world to see what to expect from their upcoming debut. The Brand Film of SUPER REAL ME already gives us some clues about the concept they might have. We see the girls in a school environment that is very strict, colourless and boring. All the other students follow the rules, head down on the books without even questioning the authority of the teachers, but the members of ILLIT are different because they are not afraid of s

howing their “Super Real Me”. According to the press release the story told in the video is meant to portray ILLIT as a group with infinite potential. As they experience the boring routine of school and chores, the girls rely on their imagination to have fun. The main theme of this debut is for the girls to introduce themselves in the realest way possible, and them being super real also implies being super unique. ILLIT’s core concept will revolve around their ability to see the world from their

very own perspective, but also to express themselves in their own unique way. Because of that the video focuses on this individuality, and it shows each member using the power of their imagination to have fun even in the most boring environment. With this power, the girls can turn their dream into a reality, which is also hinted by the song in the background. In the lyrics the members sing “This is my world, this is really the real me” so the point is for them to show their real selves in their

own world, which is none other than their imagination. As we see in the video, though, their fantasy kind of leaks into the real world so there’s a foreshadowing that in this debut their dream will turn into a reality. They’ll make the world their own, if you will, and they will do so by being their special and unique selves. In the Brand Film their journey is yet to begin so there’s only a hint of that. At this point nothing has changed yet, but the people around them already start to notice t

heir uniqueness and charm. Starting off with Wonhee for instance we see her in class fantasising about ILLIT. She pretends to listen to the teacher but all she can think about is music, so much so that she breaks into dancing in the middle of the lecture. Iroha instead is skipping in the corridor and she’s so happy in her own little world that a pair of wings appear on her back. The beautful wings impress the others students but make the teacher sneeze, which kinda hints at a generational differ

ence here. Fellow students love Iroha’s uniqueness, but the older teacher is irritated by it, literally, because his wings are not real. In the gym Yunah is doing chores with the other students, but she makes a show out of it. In the middle of her boring task she imagines a pink runaway, and she slays it. When she reaches the centre, she grabs a mic ready to perform but the mic ends up being the mop, meaning that she was just fantasising to spice up the boring routine. Minju on the other hand fi

nds an ILLIT box in her locker, and she discovers that she can multiply it every time that she closes the door and opens it back up. She kind of gets carried away because she makes thousands of boxes appear out of nowhere but one thing that we know for sure is that she’s great at manifesting her dreams. She has one thing and she’s able to multiply that blessing a thousandfold which is a great power to have coming into this industry. Last but not least instead we have Moka, who’s playing influenc

er in the bathroom. Like the others she gets a bit carried a way she takes a lot of selfies, shoots a lot of videos but all of a sudden her idol self appears in the mirror as real as she can be. That’s her fantasy, her dream self but when she gets interrupted by the others students, the idol self disappears. Moka is sad about it, but not for long. When she joins the others, we see that their dream of success is closer than we think and now their idol personas are looking at them from above. As t

he song tells us that this is their world, the video ends with them as Idols. Their dream is about to come true and it will come true by showing their Super Real Me.
