There is a saying that the internet never forgives and never forgets So if we upload something or we posted whether it is going on the cloud or going anywhere else, no matter how much secure, Everyone is offering today, take 5 GB from me, take this cloud storage. They are basically taking your data, data is the most valuable thing today. Whether from the organization or whether an individual, so we are giving the data and what's happening after using the data? ChatGPT has come. ChatGPT is learni
ng all about us with our data. So DRDO made the cyber mice. Because there are places that we cannot go, so mice are such things, a rat, that goes anywhere. So suppose there is an attack somewhere where humans cannot go, then they are live rats, rats roam everywhere, if we send a machine, it will be broken. So that rat going somewhere, there is a camera attached to it, So, the rat goes there and sends all-- There are also sensors, collects all the data and supplies it to you. So without you going
to that place, without threatening human life, you got the information. Hello friends, we have created a lot of military podcasts on the show, but today we will know more about DRDO, will know more about cyber security. Will know more about cyber warfare and the future of warfare because of O.P. Manocha sir. Now he has become a writer, but for years, for decades, he has worked in DRDO, Defense Research and Development Organization. That is, whatever weapons are made in India, whatever equipment
our army uses, the development of those equipment first starts in the DRDO So it was a very secretive podcast, sir did not answer every question, because for the security of the country DRDO needs to be slightly secretive But sir has explained a lot about warfare, about geopolitics, engineering, science, he worked in the research wing of DRDO. So please enjoy, learn a lot from today's episode, This is the fun fact about TRS that you get a completely different perspective. Because the future of
human beings is a little dangerous, friends. There is a lot going on, technology wise. Know about all these things is very important for us. Enjoy the episode, learn and know what all is happening in our future, especially from a war perspective, this is today's special episode with OP Manocha, sir. 🎶[Music]🎶 🎶[Music]🎶 🎶[Music]🎶 OP Manocha, sir, you are welcome to TRS. Thank you so much. We will have a very serious conversation -with you today in this casual style. -Absolutely. I want to h
ave a casual conversation with you because you do some research in a very serious role. You teach people a lot of things, you have written a book about cyber security. Of course. But we should start today's conversation mildly with DRDO. -Absolutely. -Is that fine? Yeah, it's okay. Many people have heard this word 'DRDO', I consciously made this decision that this podcast should be done in Hindi, I feel that the Hindi audience is learning a lot rapidly There are some people in this audience -who
will definitely join the DRDO. -Of course. But today they will learn what is DRDO. So, you tell us and how you are associated with DRDO. DRDO means Defense Research and Development Organization, it is a premier research agency of the Ministry of Defence. In which we do research for all the Army, Navy, Air Force, and even paramilitary services. The weaponry and equipment used there, that equipment and weaponry's research and development are done in DRDO. Done on equipment as well as all our tech
nologies behind it, basically we develop technology. It is a very big government-owned engineering company in some ways We cannot say engineering, it is a research company, research and development. Because now we have all our tie-ups we have tie-up with academia, we have tie-up with the industry, we have tie-up with the private, so whatever research we do basically, we do in partnership with them as well. And then we also transfer technology to the industry. That is there are many private compa
nies too in today's times, this was not the reality of the earlier times, Earlier only government used to manufacture, equipment and weaponry, In today's era the private organizations have come in. So you share your research papers and research results with those organizations too. We share, we share it to a level, we share technology. Because see when something is being researched, until that time, it remains a very secret thing. Because ultimately technology will arrive. If a missile is made,
it will come in front of people, then we do not have to hide it. But the research we are doing before that, the secret projects that are going on, we don't share the secrecy of those things. So in a very surgical way, we share technology, research and stuff. Why have very few people heard about DRDO? Because consciously, it is kept slightly secret, -less discussed. -Is for the same purpose which I told you, that we do not want to share much, we are not very open to people. Because the technologi
es are such, that are being developed in the national interest. And as you know nowadays, the current scenarios that exist, the war scenarios, or whatever things that are going on in the world, geopolitics, so on, according to that, we want the technology to get developed, to get mature, and then we share with people That is why many people have not heard about it. But now I think many people have heard about DRDO. DRDO is developing so many missiles, they are making so many things, so DRDO stay
s in the news most days. I don't know if I am crossing a line here, but apart from missiles, what kind of technologies are developed? Generally speaking. See missiles were an IGMDP program which was started by Dr. Abdul Kalam, so we are anyways developing in it. So we started with Agni-1 and now we are moving to Agni-6, which is our intercontinental… Are our ballistic missiles. But now apart from that, almost every field we are working in, Our DRDOs are working on all the things. Like I am assum
ing, you work a little with ISRO. ISRO's technologies are with us, because Dr. Kalam was from ISRO only. So, the space technologies came from there, got integrated, Then we are also making our own, the satellites that ISRO sends in space, we use those, DRDO uses it's data. So there are many technologies and now, recently, as you may have heard, actually our technology, we have 8-10 technology directorates, which includes the naval systems, includes the air, means, there are many areas of our tec
hnology which we cover. Does DRDO work with other countries' research and development organizations? There are collaborations with other countries too, but everything of ours is indigenous. Especially after Make in India, Modi ji, we are making everything indigenously, are going towards self-reliance. The most important thing is self-reliance, so that if there is a denial of technology or if there is a denial of equipment from anywhere, like it used to happen earlier, used get imported. Now we d
on't need anything, From microchips to systems, we are indigenously making our own. I would like to take a break from this conversation and I would like to say that I am feeling very cool talking to you Even I am feeling very good. It seems like, you know G.I. Joe? I know G.I. Joe. Feel like I am talking to some G.I. Joe. Anyway, coming back to the conversation. You are using the word 'technology' again and again, that is engineering basically, some format. Yeah, engineering is always there in t
echnology. Okay, all right. I am assuming that there is a group of scientists who are working on a problem regularly. Based on the data you are getting from other agencies. And are making technologies for the future. I am also assuming two things. Firstly, I have learned two things about geopolitics. The first thing is that geopolitics is not a linear game. Sometimes a lot happens in the world of geopolitics, sometimes nothing happens, nothing happens for years. A lot has happened over the last
4 years. So in such scenarios, from an international perspective, maybe the work of DRDO has increased a lot. Am I correct in saying that? Yes, you're absolutely right in saying so. As I had told you, especially after Make in India, due to self-reliance and all these things, the work of DRDO has increased a lot. We are making everything indigenously. Everything of ours is indigenous. We are not depending on any other country. Rather we are exporting to other countries, our defence products. I wo
uld also like to highlight this, that geopolitically speaking, If you want to give power to your country, you will have to first earn money for the country and basically you will have to export You will have to promote entrepreneurship in the country In this way your country becomes richer. You become more geopolitically powerful. Well, so these our basics, Now I would like to ask you what you have studied? How did you join DRDO? See, I am from Dehradun. That time, very few used to go into engin
eering and so on, and even if they went, there were very few colleges, There used to be IITs and maybe some-- All these private colleges did not exist. So, that time, I had done post-graduation in physics. So I did my post-graduation in physics, electronic specialization. So it was my dream, that I have to do some research. When I was young, microphone… I used to break open my dad's earphone, taking out the diaphragm from it, taking out the magnet, I used to keep scrutinizing it. So from the beg
inning itself, there was an instinct, for research and these things. You are a true-blue engineer. Call it engineer or a destructive engineer. Have only broken. Like Rancho. -Like Rancho. -Have you watched 3 Idiots. Sort of Rancho. Earlier, everyone used to be like this. But how did you join DRDO? Do you get picked up? So I picked up DRDO. Because actually my mom was a very emotional person. So she didn't want me to go out. Or go out, go somewhere out. She said there are two labs here. Actually,
DRDO started in 1958 with 10 labs. So now there are more than 50 labs. So Dehradun has two labs. One is based on instrumentation and the other is on electronics. I joined the electronics lab. So there was a vacancy. I joined as an assistant. So at that time they called it, junior scientific assistant. Then after giving departmental exams, I became an officer, scientist B. So starting from scientist B, then the journey was up to scientist G. So, we have another option. After that there is also s
cientist H. After that, then we have directors and other things. So, I moved up to G and then I retired. So your scientific skills get advanced in this journey. Scientific skills and responsibilities get advanced. The kind of projects you are handling. You get more manpower, more people. More technologies to develop. The areas increase. What are scientific skills? Scientific skill, see what happens is, actually we want to make innovation. We want to develop new technologies. So the scientific sk
ill in that is, whatever is your subject, related to that, what technology are you developing, what is existing in the world, what can we make better than that? We use scientific skills there. Then we talk about science. There is a very raw question. How is Israel so advanced? Now it is even India. As much as Israel? Almost, you can say. At least, we are aiming to move ahead of them. Has this happened because of PM Modi? Modi ji has a very big role in this. Because as I told you, Modi ji wants u
s to do all the things in our country. Even in our defense minister, he also wants us to develop everything in our country. Don't have turn to others for any type of technology Chanakya niti. Call it Chanakya niti or call it farsightedness, 'durdarsahata'. Have you met him. I have met Dr. Kalam. I worked with him. Okay! You worked with him? Have worked sitting beside him. Tell us, what was your first impression? -How was he? -First impression was very good. Just as we had heard about him that he
is very simple, so we had worked sitting at his guest house in Delhi, He used to play his veena too. And in a very simple way, it used to seem like working with some of our other scientists or co-worker. I have learned about scientists that creativity is a factor, in the journey of a scientist. Do you believe this? It is a very big factor. The biggest of all? Science is also an art. Actually, if we make some painting or we compose some music, then science is also like composing some technology.
It is a piece of art which one creates. Was this the greatness of Dr. Kalam? The greatness of Dr. Kalam was he had a very big vision. Had farsightedness, that I want everything in the country, all these things, when he brought missile technology from space, that's when he came here in our DRDO. Will you tell something more about him as a human being, how was he? As a human being, he was very simple. He used to live a hostel-type single room. Used to live in a room. As I told you, work used to g
o on till 12:00-1:00, so it was nothing as such, past that, one used to hear the sound of his veena. He used to get into his meditative state. We didn't have that much at that time, We said it's okay man, he was our boss. Because he was the scientific advisor to DRDO chairman. It used to feel very good with him. As a boss, how was he? As a boss, he was very nice. He would give freedom to many people. That you work. Make technology. The resources needed, used to be made available. So, in my opini
on, it's DRDO's culture, that you get a lot of freedom to work. So like you said we may have many listeners who would like to join DRDO, so they have a great opportunity to work on technology, this is a great opportunity to serve the country. Both the passions will be fulfilled. Now we will talk about education, which you mentioned now. If people want to join DRDO, what is the first step? Do you have to do engineering? See, you can join at two levels. Either you have done graduation in science o
r if you are a post graduate or an engineer, then you can join. So, there are direct entries which happen at scientist B level. Which is a gazetted post. So, we have regular intake in that. The recruitment and assessment center conduct the exams for scientist B. So people can join directly in that as scientist B. Then they can move up to... There is no limit. I am assuming that the heads of the military, they regularly talk to DRDO and say that now this is needed, -that is needed. -Yes absolutel
y. I have also understood that in war, there are two big factors. One factor is equipment, I mean your technology and the other factor is logistics. So, you help the military logistically too? From a pin to a missile, make everything. Help in all the technologies. We help in logistics, anywhere-- In Pangong at the highest altitude, we have a natural cold storage facility, where we store organic things. At such a height, imagine. So all types of facilities, DRDO does everything. Even in COVID-19
DRDO made more than 100 products As in? Like it made a system which through speech analysis your throat infection reveals, if there an infection developing in your throat? There is normal speech, using our signal processing and so on, it tells everything. Then to take the crowd temperature, using the thermal cameras, etc. we created such that, what is the in-general temperature of the crowd? Is COVID getting spread? So, for geo-fencing in COVID, suppose someone is suffering from COVID, so that i
t does not spread among more people, so had made some technologies for geo-fencing. There are many such technologies, these are just simple technologies which I can reveal, are used by people. Then on an unmanned vehicle, for spraying, whatever spraying that was taking place at that time, to disinfect that, used those kinds of vehicles, so that areas, where people cannot enter, by doing that. So, Robotics, this and that, everything, we develop. I have learned that first, technologies are develop
ed for the military, then the same technologies make their way to the public domain. Yes, yes. It is a spin off. A little spin off. You made it for military, did research. Like there was internet earlier, it was used in universities, it was used in defense, ...was using. Then it was opened for the public, when it became very common. There are many such technologies that are being opened for the public. People are using it commonly. So many good cameras and good things have come in a mobile It's
all coming from the Defense in some way or other. Basically, you know what is going to happen in the future. A bit, at least technologically speaking. Know the future. And then knowing the future you have written a book on cyber security. -Yes. -What does it mean? On cyber security— The book is written on cyber crime Knowing the future, it is written that cyber crime, in the coming time is going to take a very scary form, it is going to be very scary, now we are hearing little by little about cy
ber crime that today I have lost my money from the bank, this happened to me. But now it will impact the organizations, going forward. Means hacking will happen. Hacking is happening and what will the hackers do is, now they will work in groups. They will be working like corporates. It is no longer that, there is a kid. He ordered a kit, and he started his hacking. Now there are groups, who are in an organized form, they'll do. Then there are also state-sponsored things. That is, other countries
have sponsored things. There are rogue nations. Some, who are not very friendly with us. What not friendly, those who are our enemy nations. So, what us, whoever has enemies among themselves, they all will use these things. Will sponsor it. So what happens, hackers get a lot of resources. Right now he keeps doing it by himself sitting alone. Now that time will go. Now these things will happen in groups. How can an Indian protect himself? See to protect yourself-- Protecting the individual, prot
ecting the organization there are two ways, there are two types of attacks. One that is happening on an individual In which harming any nation or waging a world war is not the purpose. The second is we protect the infrastructure from attacks. So both have different methods. A lot of police force people are talking about cyber crime nowadays. Because I think the problem -is increasing in size, am I right? -Absolutely. A lot of cyber attacks are happening on people. Because a lot of people are als
o learning coding. A lot of people are also learning hacking. It depends on a human intention what you will do with those skills, will you use coding for software development, or use it for hacking and earn fast money. That's basically the most common cyber crime. on an individual level. But you have talked about cyber crime on infrastructure, tell a little about it. I don't even know, where to start this topic. The ABCs of this topic. We start it from here, there is a saying that the internet n
ever forgives and never forgets so if we upload something or we posted whether it is going on the cloud or going anywhere else, no matter how much secure, Everyone is offering today, take 5 GB from me, take this cloud storage. They are basically taking your data, data is the most valuable thing today. Whether from the organization or whether an individual, so we are giving the data and what's happening after using the data? ChatGPT has come. ChatGPT is learning all about us with our data. It's a
machine learning system. So, taking all the data from all the things that are there, it is self-learning, we've programmed and left it. Now we don't have to make money from that program. Now children are writing essays and compositions using it. Even what you talked about, we will do hacking by writing the code. No need to write a code now. I was reading an instance, someone asked ChatGPT, write a code for me. ChatGPT wrote the code in Python language. In which all the folders, particular type
of files, like any document file on our computer, Word or any executable file, it collected all the files. Put them all in a random folder, zipped it and uploaded it to a place which was a secure cloud storage. After that wiped off the whole system, and then asked for money in ransomware that your data is lying here. So, it wrote that complete code and gave. So it is like a knife. You can also cut vegetables with a knife or kill someone. Basically like saying, you have made a robot for yourself
and if you are criminal minded then you will use that super robot for your crimes. So as Stephen Hawking says -AI will see the end of the human race. -You believe it? Absolutely. It will overtake. -Let's talk about this. -Yes. The most important reason that I was excited about this conversation because I love talking about the future. But to talk about the future, you need the present data. Plus, I think you need experience, when it comes to talking about the present scenario. And you have all t
he three. -You need one more thing. -Say it. You have to get out of your 3D. -Meaning? -Out of these three dimensions. Our thinking is limited. We have to go into science fiction for the future. Which people don't readily believe. If I tell as a scientist, then people will probably think that buddy, he is speaking sense, if someone else tells this, then they will ridicule him. Like me, like me. No, I am joking. There is a thing RAMA. There is a RAMA concept. In which you give an idea to someone,
it will be first ridiculed, like when aliens come up in your show, they say aliens, they ridicule. It cannot be. Then after that slowly we, There is something for 'A' I forgot. Then 'M' is mellow, then people become a little soft. Then after that comes acceptance. So, if we talk about any such technology, thing, or future when I say that AI will take over us, robots will take over, then first of all, it will be ridiculed, how can they do that, they don't have emotions, they don't have any sensi
tivity, but all those things are getting built in, it's all coming slowly. Tell me. I will give you a very youth/student perspective. I have a brother, Pratham Mittal, came to the show, he spoke about future of education. Many jobs are going to be replaced due to AI Then I think ChatGPT4 was just launched. Nowadays everyone is using ChatGPT. People are using ChatGPT in almost every job. People only know this side of AI. Then the conversations move into the domain of a conspiracy theory. That you
said, but because you are a scientist because you have worked in DRDO, I feel you have the right to talk about the dangers of AI So I would actually like for you to explain basics also. Meaning those who don't know ChatGPT until now, have not used, tell something from basic to future, sir. When we talk about AI, what happens is, what did we do first, replaced the muscles with machines. Earlier we used to do physical work. Then came the machines, because the muscles used to get tired, people use
d to get tired. The machine don't tire, machine keeps working the whole day, it can even work 24 hours. Then people said what else is there in a person. One is, he also has brain. So, they also replaced the brain with machines. So it is not that it is dangerous, it is useful too, it is coming handy. Robotic surgery, this, that, everything is happening with it, So what has happened now, both the muscles and the brain have been replaced by machines. So now machines are intelligent. So any AI syste
m-- You want me to cut short and explain? No, no, no sir. Go into detail. I'll go into detail. So what happens in AI system, what happens in AI system, there is a human, like imagine it is you. If you want something that without asking me, there is a machine sitting in my place, then you will ask it, when will it be able to tell you? When it has the knowledge, where will that knowledge come from? There are knowledge engineers for that. You are acting like a knowledge engineer now. Because you ar
e taking out knowledge from me and storing it in some format. So what do knowledge engineers do, the one who is our expert, whether it is a doctor or an engineer or some scientist, extract his knowledge, and put it in a knowledge base. Then there is a knowledge base and a rule base. Then using them, a normal user makes a query. What will be the weather today? So the query goes to the rule base. See what is the date, time, location, what are the things. It extracts from its knowledge base and giv
es the answer to that user. So this is a complete AI system. Any AI system, it works like this. Plus with time and data that AI system very much… This is machine learning. What is machine learning, it is-- The machine is taught to learn in a way in which human learns. Like a person learns that way a machine is learning and is improving itself. It is not only that, that it only gave you information. That is its own learning system. Its software has be made, nothing to do now. Now the machine will
keep learning on its own. It has a feedback system. What were the mistakes in the output I gave, how can I improve? ChatGPT asks, is it okay, asks you thumbs up, thumbs down, or what? It is improving itself, is learning. People around the world are using ChatGPT. Everyone is using. So ChatGPT's systems are improving very quickly. It is becoming a very powerful algorithm. I remember in 1999, I used Google for the first time and I found it very crazy, that there is some website as such. And for t
he second time in life, felt now. When I am using GPT instead of Google to know things. So what I want to say Ranveer, I want to say that because youth are your biggest followers in this. About 3-4 crore people are your followers. So I want to say this to them, I want to give a message that whatever work you do, don't ridicule AI, don't think that AI is our enemy, artificial intelligence, skill yourself in that. Develop this skill. There are many initiatives of the government, skill development
programs. What does it mean, sir? Means that go with considering artificial intelligence as your friend. Whatever it is, view it from an artificial intelligence point of view. How artificial intelligence can come into it. You upgrade your skills in that, then you can use artificial intelligence anywhere. You are doing creative work you are making a painting in that. What did people do to ChatGPT, said something random, What are people doing now? Earning money from ChatGPT. How? They make some ra
ndom paintings, and they sell it on internet. Write some random E-books, on some subject. And they are selling it on internet. So your creativity will not end anywhere. Jobs will not end. It is your tool. You used to ride a cycle, you used to ride a scooter, you are going in a car. You are using machines. So, humans did not perish. Jobs did not perish. New jobs have been created. Plus, there is an opportunity, we got a new area to work. This is what I want to say, which is the message. Basically
you need to skill up. Yes, skill up and you need to definitely skill up in AI. In artificial intelligence. As I asked you, any technology that a defense agency uses or develops, it releases in public domain after a while, Comes after a while. That means maybe 5 years ago, a technology as robust as ChatGPT was developed somewhere in the world, and was under wraps. Likely in China. I have learned this. I mean I am not asking you that question. But for these 5 years, how could have a rogue country
used AI? See, people have also used it. There have been attacks. -AI-based attacks. -Our infrastructure has been attacked. AI is being used in technology. It is not apparent that an AI has attacked. Some robot will not come and attack. But because it-- What happens is, like what AI does is, Like there are botnets. So, that is derived from AI. What are botnets? There are many computers, they have a network. So the hackers, those who do cyber crimes, By taking all these maybe a hundred, thousand,
million, billion computers they make a network. Which works for him. That is his robotic force. What they do is, they go to every system, go into every individual's phone, and some or other malware-- Malware is defined as any software that has a harmful effect, is malicious. -Virus. -Malicious software is malware, isn't it? -Virus is a kind of a malware. -All right. So it goes-- So humans don't need to do it. I don't need that every-- That I want to hack your account then I will not do it, that
the machine will do. It will do so much password spraying, Will do so much phishing that it will generate thousands of passwords and at one time it will get the password. So, we say that you had told, that keep the password strong. Keep changing passwords. So if we follow very simple-simple things then we will be safe. And this is not 5 years away, maybe it is the reality of now. Look things are getting exponential. What has happened in the last 5 years will now happen in 5 months. Because we a
re getting AI powered. Even in science, as earlier only human beings used to do scientific research, now AI will come into scientific research. AI will come. The way AI is coming, it is coming in cyber security plus cyber crime, is coming in both. Criminals are using it to analyze how vulnerable is your network? How fast can I break into your network? This task has been given to AI. AI is watching all the IP addresses, studying these things, where is the weakness? Where is the password weak? Sim
ilarly, AI is being used to strengthen it. They are analyzing how penetrable your system is. So nowadays you must have heard of ethical hackers? Ethical hackers are those who are hired by the company itself to come and hack its own network. From that they get to know the weak point where I have my weakness. Like you tell one of your security guards break open my door, from where can you enter my studio? So you will know that this lock of mine was weak. So we are ethical hackers in this way. So A
I is doing all this work. AI is embedded. There is AI in everything. You're speaking, I'm speaking, Google is listening. Will start giving me ads in a while. Alexa is listening, all that is AI. Already AI has entered in our life. There is automatic AC inside the car. That is AI. A sensor is attached. That is AI. There are many more things, if you ask I will tell. No, you keep telling, what else is there? Then it should not happen that it becomes be one sided I want to feel scared, sir. If you wa
nt to feel fear, then Internet of Things is coming, -be afraid of it. -Why? What is it in the internet of things is that your microphone will also be smart, AC will also be smart, refrigerator will also be smart, so where are they all connected now? To your Wi-Fi. So what do we have to do is, making devices smart or safe, is costlier. We buy a camera and put it up. ₹1,000 camera is available from Amazon, use it because if we see an expensive camera, we do not see what features it has. It is more
network secured. Those expensive cameras are good cameras. Cheap cameras are not secure. All the small devices that are coming, refrigerator, your network will not be as secure. We have to secure our network, not these devices. There are many devices-- All things are getting smart. How many devices will we make safe? If our network is strong then our chances of hacking will reduce. From a little macro perspective, let's look at this problem. You talked about science fiction, the way AI is getti
ng advanced, I am 110% sure that AI will also help scientists a lot. New technologies will emerge. Can you draw out a picture, 10 years from now, 15 years now, what dangers could be there? Look, the dangers will be less because we are making them, so we will not attack ourselves. Now the system has been made such, it is a different matter that with time I said they will takeover, because they will become so smart, they will start learning so smart. They will takeover, how much time does it take,
10 years, 20 years, 30 years, that is an afterthought. But in 5-10 years... What does takeover mean sir? Takeover means, they will not obey your command. -Okay. -Now can you stop Alexa, don't give me these ads, you are pushing right? Keeps pushing notifications to you, keeps on doing, keeps on doing, at one point you click on the pop-up. Where you clicked, you got trapped. Because it has become smarter than us, so it is slowly taking over. Takeover does not mean that the robot will come and str
angle you. That is not required. That's what I was visualizing actually. It will make the temperature so cold, you are sleeping at night, it will kill you with that, if it wants to kill. How will you stop? Do you think that any AI software has aspired to harm the human being? -Will happen in a few days. -Why? Emotions have come. AI has come… If it hears that man, I am not being recognized. If it comes to know, that I am working so much. I am so smart, even then he is saying, I wrote it wrong and
gave. You made him write 10 times, then an emotion will slowly develop somewhere inside the AI. We are feeding emotions in AI. I think a report had come out. Bing software which I think is from Microsoft. Microsoft built their own with ChatGPT. So some user gaslighted it, that no, you can't do anything, what kind of software are you? And then Bing reacted, in an angry way that means emotions are developing. -Personality is developing. -Emotions are developing. Because it is learning from us. So
mewhere or the other we are feeding him. Just like we are feeding things inside people with DNA, way it is being passed on, similarly it is also happening with data. Have you seen 'Age of Ultron'? 'Avengers: Age of Ultron.' Have you seen 'Terminator'? Has the same logic that AI will become so smart that it will try to take over first the internet. Will learn everything from internet including emotions, including how human operate. Will know about every person individually. Will know your secrets
and then it will take over. Even now it knows all our secrets, all our belongings are lying around. Our social too, our social engineering is done. Hackers have done it. How they trap us, there are some stories in this book. How they trap us. He came to know that we are greedy, we are curious, we are greedy for things, only then we get trapped in it, we have fear. So they induce fear. So all this stuff, already social engineering-- It is easier to hack a human then a machine, in today's date. -
Because of social media. -Now people don't hack machines, it takes a lot of time to do it, till the machines hack the machine, it will take a long time for humans to crack the password. But if I hack you, that you tell me your password yourself. So the same thing happens in this. I am coming back to my book again, -because everything is there in the book. -No sure. What they repeatedly do is, they create so much of fear, that you update your KYC now, otherwise your bank account will be closed. A
poor taxi driver, he has taken a loan, he says buddy fine, you only take it. Shares the series of OTPs. Disclosed the OTP, he cleared his account, washed it. So due to fear, due to greed, curiosity, extortion has been done over a period, I will tell you about them, how things are working. Here human elements are also involved. There is a human element, but our human element is being passed on to the machine. I mean machine… This is what he got out of social engineering. So this was stored insid
e the machine. My habits, on what I go in Facebook, what do I like, what do I watch, what content do I watch. It is going on storing everything. Where do I go, is storing my locations, so all that is going. All data is being used for marketing in AI. Do you know Kalki Avatar? Kalki is the name of the tenth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. -Yes, yes, yes. -Some people believe that Kalki Avatar will be half an AI bot. There are cyborgs. Yes cyborg. I will tell you cyborg now, I can give you that exampl
e. It was in the news also. So DRDO made a cyber mice. So a cyborg is, when in any living being, be it a human, be it an animal, we insert some part of a machine in it, put a camera, or anything else Like Elon Musk is doing now. Yes like he is doing. Tell, tell sir. So what they do in that is, Because there are places that we cannot go, so mice are such things, a rat, that goes anywhere. It survives on leftover. Enters small spaces. So suppose there is an attack somewhere where humans cannot go,
then they are live rats, rats roam everywhere, if we send a machine, it will be broken. I'll come to that also, that how we are spoofing drones. I'll come to that just remind me. So that rat going somewhere, there is a camera attached to it, So, the rat goes there and sends all-- There are also sensors, collects all the data and supplies it to you. So without you going to that place, without threatening human life, you got the information. So that's what cyborgs are. What you are saying, it wil
l half machine, will be half that. So, it is already done. But the thing is that we do not want to inflict pain on animals. We have separate head-mounted things for it. It's still the cyborgs that are going to war, if you go to see closely. We only did not embed inside them. But we have made them fully capable. Installed cameras on the heads of all the machines, installed IR cameras. All the operations that took place, those military commanders are sitting and watching what is going on through t
echnology. Satellite communication and satellite imaging. By using everything this is happening already. Will there be soldiers after 100 years? Cyber warfare will happen now. Now the future wars will take place in cyber space. Or in space. It will also happen in space because what can we do, I will tell you, as I told about drones, we are spooking drones. So there are drones, they are going around. Now what will I do if an unwanted drone comes? So now suppose drones are flying in such an area,
or an enemy drone comes in, and drones are also being used for bigger purposes. We also use it for cross border monitoring etc., where we cannot see. Suppose the soldiers have to go somewhere, we first do an aerial survey of that place with a drone. Or if the police has to control the crowd, then they are doing it through drones. But now if the enemy drone comes, what will we do with it? How will we end it? Either shoot it down. Or what we do is, we blind it with a laser, or with sharp light bli
nd its camera. Or we give such radio signals to its navigation system, that its navigation system gets damaged. It goes somewhere else and crashes opposed to where it is supposed to go. So, this is the spoofing of drones. Like I am telling you, I am coming to my book again and again, that spoofing happens in this. Spoofing is that we send such mails, we send such things, which seems to be coming from an original source, so they click on it, on the mail. -You fool them. -We spam it. -You fool the
m. -We fool them. Like we get messages, we think you are eligible for a 10-lakh loan. We think, it has some bank name written, a jumbled up spelling, HDFC becomes HFDC, becomes something, and we say great, click it, gone, finish. Instead of fool I was getting one more word in my mind, I will not use it. It will get censored in the show. It even came to my mind. No, no, I am feeling shy, a senior… No, no, have a go. Edit it later. Back to the topic. Okay sir, now in the present day In 2023 the mi
litary reality is, that drones are being used a lot in the militaries world over. This technology maybe was in development since 10 to 15 years, I am sure, because now drones have been released commercially. In the past 5 to 8 years drones have become popular. But way before that, drones were being used. Drones will be used a lot in the future too. Of course, will be. It is going to be a big part of military technology. Suppose, if a real hot war takes place, or soldiers start to fight with each
other In 10 years. Can it be a reality, will human beings fight with each other by then. The physical fight will get over. -In 10 years itself? -Such fight is meaningless. So infrastructure will get attacked. Or our economy will get attacked. Now these types of war will take place. Now cyber wars will happen as I said. Now there won't be a man-to-man fight. It will become meaningless. What will happen to the military. Will there be military careers? There will be military careers, Maybe like we
are an army of drones, for that also we need people, to operate it. Means there will be engineering-based military careers. It will be engineering based and AI based, people who would be skilled. A very stupid question for you. I once thought again about a word, which I won't repeat. Anyway, it is a very 'C' question for you. Yes, tell me, tell me. The question is, gamers, those who play video games their motor skills are a little advanced, especially the competitive gamers, their hand-eye coor
dination is faster. Of course. Could they be used in the military? They could be used because, Everything is point aim, point shoot, all these things are there now. Whichever game, or there is a car in that. Our reflexes are getting stronger. So, maybe whatever machines we are controlling remotely, their skills can be used in those things, How is it now, in few days, only the thumb will be left, we are watching Reels, so we are only using the thumb. Thumb scrolling is happening. Rest of the fing
ers are turning useless. Slowly the nervous system of these fingers, it will die with some time. Maybe what the gamers are using, using the joy sticks or even if are doing touch screen-based things, So, all the things, all our UI, user interface, it will all come through touch screen. Well touch has now arrived, it will go beyond touch. You will think something and it will happen. Like you are telling about Elon Musk -and all that he's doing. -Are you following the story of Neuralink? Yes, I am
following Neuralink. Neuralink basically is a technology, is a company of Elon Musk, where they insert a chip in someone's brain, a computer brain interface gets created there. That is, a computer meets your brain -through that chip. -Yes. Elon Musk is saying that version one, will be used to correct brain defects. Means if someone has a brain problem, some types of blindness, some types of hearing problems. If any such problem happens in the brain then instead of doing a surgery or to continue
living the same way, because of Neuralink, your brain defects will get corrected. But this is a first level application. After this I personally feel, you will get brain boosts, -because of that chip. -Yes. Am I right? -You are absolutely right in saying that. -But it is also dangerous. It is dangerous but it also has benefit. Now suppose I had to give your interview so I had to study. Because you ask too many technical questions. So I studied for a few days, then what is happening is, with time
, my memory is also getting a little weak now. But what will happen at that time, I will come with a chip. So from there I am linked, everything is stored. The doctor's chip will be fitted which is Neuralink based. All the information is inside it, about the teacher is there, so he doesn't need to remember anything. It becomes an aid for the memory. So, he got the benefit there. But if I programmed the chip and I present its actions this way, it becomes a cyborg, all these things. Almost every h
uman being, in today's world, almost every human being around the world must have used antibiotics sometime in their life. Yes. Antibiotics are also a kind of technology. Is a pharmaceutical technology. Which probably did not exist 100 years ago. Did not exit 200 years ago. Through science, you have put a technology in your own body. And the biome of your body changes a bit. Perhaps your immune system becomes stronger, in the long term, if you've used antibiotics once or twice, maybe. Similarly,
all these biotech advancements that are coming, Neuralink is a biotech advancement, NanoMods will also come. Basically, you are becoming a cyborg. Everyone is becoming a cyborg. Along with that, there are also threats of cyber security. If someone hacks your chip, you become a zombie. Become a zombie, cyber will come there too. This is the meaning of cyber space war. Now I told you, It is easy to hack humans. We will not hack devices going ahead. We will hack humans. It is easy to hack humans b
ecause, we have emotions, sentiments, these are the things about us. If we hack using things like sentiments, then we've controlled Neuralink too. Because he has not lost his power of thinking, it has enhanced. Would you like to say more about Neuralink. Are you excited or are you scared. No I am very excited, it is very good. Now see we were saying, we will implant the RF chips, you are going from somewhere, you don't have to scan anything, your attendance got marked somewhere, you came out, yo
u got identified. So we have to accept that. That the world is going towards this. I have recently learned about quantum computing. Do you know about quantum computing. Yes to an extent, tell me. I will try to explain in Hindi. It is a very complicated concept. Basically, when you are using a computer And assume you pressed the 'A' key A, B, C. Experience that process like you are just tapping A, B, C and A, B, C appears typed on the screen. But actually if you study the engineering of a compute
r, When you are tapping the 'A' key, then an electrical signal is going in the computer, well, if pressed this key, this kind of electrical signal will generate. If you break down that electrical signal, it gets programed in bits and bytes. That is it is programed in a binary system. That is 1s and 0s. Computer looks at our world as 1s and 0s. Depending on the combination of 1s and 0s in the electrical signal computer thinks that Ranveer -is pressing the A key or B key or C key. -Absolutely. Wha
tever you do on the computer. If you click on some pixel. You maximize the screen, this gets programed through bits, on 1s and 0s. Scientists believe every 5 or 10 years in computer technologies, especially on the hardware side, advancements take place. The basic meaning of it is, that your electrical signals can get more intricate Your computer is getting faster. Your computer is becoming more powerful. Eventually with time, there is going to be a point, where through multiple bits, we'll be ab
le to give signals to the computer and the computer will be able to do a very high level of calculation Maybe the level of calculation the computers are doing now, computers will be able to calculate it 100 times more in the coming 20 years. After one point a computer will become a quantum computer. It basically means, you can go to an atomic level and do calculations. Meaning if I take this glass, there is water in this glass, that is H2O. That is one molecule. One molecule of water. Assume, th
is glass is made of carbon. Multiple molecules of carbon came together to form this glass. Your computer will be able to simulate that whole glass on a molecular level. Which is not possible now. Have explained it well or… You have explained it well to a great extent. You all understood? At a molecular level. At atomic and even subatomic level. Subatomic, that is why it is quantum computer. That is why it is called quantum. The speed of computers will increase. Will become very fast by that. So,
here I would like to say, that even our DRDO have made some labs-- Have made young scientists labs. Which are around 5 laboratories, in which all scientists are less than 35 years old. They all think like you. They are youngsters. They are given complete freedom, that you research on this. So there's one lab for quantum technology. One minute, I want to ask you a lot more about that. Please don't ask me more on this. I told you this because, quantum-- I too will slip. Please don't ask me. We ca
n talk about something else. I would want to say this about quantum computing, that basically you can make universes in your computer, you can make the entire universes in your computer, which is not possible now. I say this in an even more exciting way, what is quantum technology that you can exist in two places at the same time. This will also be possible with quantum technology. One minute, I will finish my explanation. Because you are talking about very high-level things and I want to know m
ore. Michio Kaku had recently done a great podcast with Joe Rogan, about quantum computing. Basically, he said you have the ability to be a micro-God in some ways. That means today if scientists together are developing some medicine, they need to experiment in the lab, where they are combining chemicals with biomes with antibiotics, etc., etc. In the coming 20 years because of quantum computing all scientific experiments will be simulated in a quantum computer and with the help of AI again, the
scientific advancement will be very fast. Michio Kaku believes that AI will be a revolution. Separately quantum computing will be an altogether different revolution in the human story. Now you tell me, I just wanted to say this. Now I was saying, like earlier we used to say omnipresent, Hanuman was here, Hanuman ji even went somewhere else in a second, so it was quantum technology, all those things used to exist, only we need to prove it scientifically. I am just saying that. Slowly as science i
s progressing, those things are coming, so we are thinking in a different dimension, we have started accepting things in a different way. So, all those things will be proved on its own. Practically its applications-- Michio Kaku said, the pharma industry, as in biotech will get very advanced. Maybe all the diseases around the world, eventually we will be able to counter. Human immunity will reach another level. But one of its dangers is that, no computer will be protected by passwords. Because q
uantum computing can compute at such a deep level that it will guess your password. All the alphabetic combinations in the world, all the words that are there, they all will be loaded on your password and it will crack your password just because of mathematics. That's what I'm saying, that's happening even now, all our passwords attacks that are happening, a password attack is a type of cyber crime, in that it hacks your password in two ways. One is normal commonly used words, it has done your s
ocial engineering, it knows your name, it knows your date of birth, know your children's, your parents' names. This is what people do. So many Americans are there, 60% 40%, I was looking at the figure, use 123456 as a password. So cracking that password for him, he did it within seconds, because mathematical as you said, computing has become so strong, it has become so fast. Plus then what he does after that is, does dictionary hacking, a dictionary of passwords. What he does is take some words
from the dictionary, make their combinations. Then alphanumeric in that. It will take us a lot of time. Put 1 with A, then put 1, 2 with A, like the registration number of a car, how many combinations are made in it. But this happens within seconds for a machine to do permutation combinations, putting alphabets in front, numbers in back. So while doing all this, the passwords get hacked. So, these things are there even now. Now it is taking some time to do that. They attach it to the machine and
leave. Maybe gets hacked in 10-20 hours. But later this thing will happen within seconds. Rajiv Malhotra sir had come on the podcast. There is always talk of geopolitics with him, plus he himself is an engineer. So there is talk of technology related geopolitics. He said he is the most afraid of quantum computing. It will be a very dangerous situation. He also said that China is leading the race in quantum computing. But what does leading the race mean? Means to develop quantum computing, have
they done lot of research there? No, see what is it that, if we are any country, be it any country, consider even if it is India, if we have made our own technologies, then it becomes easy to build further technology on that technology. If now we make our microchips and everything of ours indigenously, then we can build things much faster on that. This is a very good thought. Basically… I will again talk about my meditation app, when we wanted to put AI into it, wanted to put AI tools, so we did
some research and we found out that even in India, in India, AI engineer's talent is very good. Their experience is a little less as compared to western engineers. Do you believe that this problem of brain drain is happening i.e. smart Indians are leaving the country and going to America, going to Europe, going to Australia, basically to earn more money. That is the human truth and it's okay. I don't think it's ethically a wrong thing, but geopolitically speaking, have we have reached a point,
where those AI engineers need to return, So that even here AI softwares as strong as GPT get developed and then eventually quantum computing gets developed locally. See, were going, now are coming back too. Now there are such situations, such things are happening that people are also coming back. And theirs also towards their country, because technology has advanced here, because the infrastructure has become good here, in our country also, they have started getting those facilities for research
, have started getting those tools. I am talking excluding earning money. Those who have gone to earn money then again there is a saying, need can be met greed cannot be met. So that will never get fulfilled, greed. But those who have gone for the passion of technology, That I make something, I do something, they will come back because, and are also coming, because now, they are getting an environment here. They are getting such an opportunity to set up their industries, their units, and red tap
ism is also over now. Everything gets done very easily now, so they are coming back here. They will make the same technology here. They will come back with knowledge. The song 'Yeh Jo Des hai...', is playing in my mind, sorry. If some more people come back after listening to our podcast, then will feel that it has been successful. Have you seen the show, Chernobyl? Yes, have watched Chernobyl. Meaning after watching that show, I was feeling like man I-- I have gone through a radiation attack. Th
e way the show is made, everyone should watch it. Filmmakers definitely, but the reality of our modern world should be known. This is also a reality of nuclear power. Still, you are saying that cyber is the bigger villain. Cyber is bigger because, there are many things for nuclear. We have some non-nuclear pacts and things. Means that many nations come together and they decide that everyone knows that there will be a huge loss. But now there are rogue nations, they will keep on doing one thing o
r the other in cyber. So due to this cyber becomes big because it is an untold danger. If someone releases a nuclear missile, what is the protocol to counter it? I am assuming that hypothetically Russia dropped a nuclear weapon on Ukraine, then I am assuming that on the Ukrainian side there would be a technology or missile systems that would intercept that Russian missile, that's theoretically what happens, right? But does intercepting a nuclear weapon require another nuclear weapon? Look, the f
irst thing is that when we are launching a missile, it is not known at that time what are the warheads in it. -Warhead means? -Missile warhead means, what bomb is being carried in it, or what thing is being carried in it. It can be nuclear or it can be something ordinary, it can also be bombs. About missiles is that, there are nuclear capable missiles. We also have. But what have you put inside it and launched, now we do not know, the enemy. There is definitely an air defense system. Missile air
defense system. In which there are many missiles, we are also developing it. We also have it in a very advanced stage and it counter-attacks any missile up to about 100-150 km. So, if that nuclear missile is coming and the air defense system, some missile has attacked, then obviously it will explode there, it will happen there. So radiations even from there, because we are destroying it within its range of 150-200 km. So, the effect will appear. It is a nuclear bomb. Nuclear material will fall
down somewhere, on the earth. Maybe it won't fall on a city? It depends on where is it. What is its location? If it is being sent, then must be some city. Do you believe that we will see a nuclear attack in our lifetime? Will not see nuclear attack. Because I think nations are worried too. Because now many countries have become nuclear capable. So war will not take place. From a human perspective, people probably wouldn't fire a nuclear missile. Because they know that they themselves will also b
e harmed like this. As this Russia-Ukraine situation is going on now, are advanced military technologies being used there? Because it is the most modern war. Advanced military technology is already being used. Missile systems are being used, or there are anti-tank missiles, or basically whatever armaments are there, all of them are advanced. Russia has a lot of advanced. So do government agencies study that war? -Obviously. -In detail? -Yes. -Today this happened, tomorrow that happened. This equ
ipment was used today. Complete analysis, military analysts must be analyzing it completely. R&D labs will also be analyzing, what is it? How do you get the data from there? The data is coming from news channels only. Okay, okay wow. When I talk about war, or talk about weapons, -it becomes a bit heavy conversation. -That is there. But you were living that life for so many years, what did you learn? See, I learned that technology may be made for any reason, but it is very important to make it. W
e should not think that what will happen next? Will technology be misused? Technology will have to be made if we have to keep abreast. If we have to keep ourselves protected in the world, then we have to be advanced for technology and will have to adopt technology. Today there are more people like senior citizens or other people, so they will have to adopt technology. If there is a mobile, then you have to adopt it. So technology has to be developed, we have to stay updated with technology. As a
government athlete, would you like to give us some advice to the TRS team? Like how can we help the government digitally? Look, I had told you that whoever the people are, you keep adopting technology, keep upgrading your skills. I am sure that your creative team is already-- Everyone is very digitally skilled nowadays. Including you, technically you are very sound and you very young also. So there is a lot of energy. You guys can work for many hours. So along with this you should also study cy
ber-related stuff. Such courses are available. You can do ethical hacking. You can work for the government. You can volunteer for the police. Volunteer for the Government, in which you can help people. This is for those who are working in IT. Those who are creative, then obviously you can produce contents, which for our government or our country, fill enthusiasm among people, that yes, our country is no less than anyone. You select and bring people who tell things, tell about technology and tell
about the latest developments taking place, but at the same time, they will also inspire our youth, that I work in this direction. I too contribute in some way or the other. You asked me a question, you are already contributing so much, you have millions and crores of followers, still you want to do something else for the country. That spirit is inside. So, you should create such content that this spirit goes inside the people as well. I would like to thank Ashutosh Gowariker for Swades. No I a
m kidding. -Have you seen Swades? -Yes, have seen Swades. I didn't leave the country because of Swades, -after doing engineering. -Of course, very well done. After talking to you the same song is playing in my mind, -'Yeh Jo Des Hai'. -'Yeh Jo Des Hai'. O. P. sir, sorry, also did some fun with you today. Asked you a lot of tough questions, but I am glad I got a chance to talk to you. There are some such podcasts in my journey, where I get to learn a lot, my perspectives get widened a bit, get br
oadened, so I am just grateful. I also learned a lot about quantum technologies. I was seeing you are very passionate about quantum. I hope in future if we do more podcasts, I will come after learning a little bit more. -I will come after upgrading. -No, no, I feel, that very few people know about quantum computing and quantum technologies. Butt is a very interesting subject. I think it's going to be the next wave after AI. Absolutely, and it will later get connected to spirituality and consciou
sness as well. -I believe so. -Quantum? -Yes. -Why? It will explain things, many things, our concepts. Because a universe-- Will explain our religious beliefs. When we, wherever we in the universe-- Wherever we go out of 3D, go into the universe, go into the cosmos, we talk like this. That's where all these things come. Spirituality and consciousness, will enter there, isn't it? I think we are going to meet next year also. And we are going to have an… even deeper conversation -about these subjec

I am sure you too must have liked today's episode. So if you want more episodes in this domain, send us guest recommendations, tell us in the comment section who else we should bring, on TRS? Ranveer Allahbadia bhai, will come back. I am sure O.P. Manocha sir will also come back. Definitely, check out his new book. Buy it, because e

Ranveer, thank you for delivering knowledge to so many people. I hope kids like me, 18, 19 and 20 year olds learn about what's really going on in the world. I will highly recommend for you to invite the Indian Miniter of Railways Mr. Ashwini Vaishnav for your show. It would be such a pleasure to know about India's Railways and where it's headed. And about upcoming bullet train project :P
