that said he says the goat debate is over it's Novak no doubt get those Twitter fingers ready to ready to blast out Jim what are your thoughts is is the debate over uh statistically it's over y uh there's it's for now unless Nadal is somehow able to to find something and get back in the conversation with more Majors but there's a lot to it right it's not just the major titles it's also the head-to-head records jokovic a a sizable head-to-head leave over Federer but a narrow one over Nadal it's c
lose but one that's not on this graphic I've been talking about for a while and I think it's really important to it's the weeks at number one jokovic certainly has a massive lead there and then the year end number one which is the true champion of the Season he's done that eight times Federer and AD doll five times each sis six times so for me the numbers don't lie he he's the greatest and deserves all the accolades he uh he deserves yeah I I don't I don't disagree with Jim you know I mean it's
it's not it's black and white at this point you know statistically he's just he's dominated every single category but I understand that people look at things through a different metric also I mean look Evander Holyfield is a four-time heavyweight champ Muhammad Ali is a three-time heavyweight champ Muhammad Ali will always be my goat you know and there's no arguing with me about that so you know you can you can see it how you want to see it but statistically you know I don't think there's any um
there's any arguing with jokovic as a goat by the way I just got to throw a little something at JN there because I did see LeBron and Jordan in there and I don't know how we're not having Kobe in that in that conversation that but that's a conversation for another time I mean and by the way stats would say Bill Russell right I mean 11 NBA rings whereas those guys have clearly it's not a discussion for another time here John got me heated John got me heated during it's the Mamba year you got you
got to throw Kobe and 24 Majors for jokovic but this is different now this is this is these are guys that played in the same area so we do same era so we do have a head-to-head here and and what get it there there's the feelings over here of this is my guy this is who I like to watch this is who captivated me for so long I appreciate your feelings we love passion in the sport we do but this argument is at this side of the table this is a fact-based discussion about achievement not style it's ac
hievement and that's a hands down trunk Slammer for for jokovic today agreed yeah I think on paper you absolutely have to go by the numbers and the stats and and say that it's clear that it's jokovic I think the fact that we're even able to have a goat debate is because these guys were so great pretty much around the same time uh their careers overlapped in a way where they were all in their primes you know a little bit differently but still able to go up head-to-head against each other so it's
been fortunate for us that you could even have this debate because in so many other sports it's almost impossible uh to have when you have generational differences so the fact that they were able to go up against each other get the head-to-head we see the year in number one rankings jokovic still playing still able to potentially get more Grand Slam titles I think that does put the the conversation to bed listen statistically can't argue with anything Novak is the greatest I break down the goat
into stats and Legacy Legacy more subjective factors in folks feelings whether we care or not we love all of our fans no matter whoever you're cheering for we're glad you're watching and by the way new generations comeing pick your pick your Pony there's some good ones that's right there you go maybe that'll be the new topic of debate who's going to end up with more Majors alcarez CER is it going to be Runa what what about MTH he's looking pretty strong he's not that old that's true that's true
not lot to lot to like about tennis these days

Federer fans ramble on about “grace” and “style”. Nadal fans whine about “what ifs” and “injuries”. Let it go guys. Debate over. Has been for a while. Enjoy your favorites. Facts won’t change.

@MarkTomeh

Nadal is close to Novak in h2h only because of clay. 20 of his 29 wins vs Djokovic are on that surface. He hasn’t taken a set from Djokovic on hard court in over 10 years, and hasn’t beaten him on grass in over 10 years. Meanwhile Djokovic has had several wins over Nadal on clay. Djokovic has dominated Nadal their entire career off of clay and has pretty much evened up with him on clay in the last 10 years.

@joannemoore3976

Jim Courier is such an articulate and intelligent guy.

@geksii

Facts > Feelings.

@373axle

Jim Courier and Brad Gilbert are hands down my favorite tennis analysts/commentators. They both had an excellent pro career and are absolute masterminds. No egos, just facts and numbers.

@angelatanurdzic7508

No1e is the GOAT!!! ❤

@thisisjuanhoyos

can we stop asking the obvious ? it's over, you can have your favourite player, but the GOAT is Djoko. We are only damagin tennis with these narratives

@rhkina

Why is this discussion still ongoing? Nole is the GOAT! Period!

@rohitjoshi9789

Novak's achievements are undeniable. He is the GOAT. Personal opinions don't matter.

@Neo06666666

I’m a Federer Fan… but it’s been over for the last year or so. Djokovic has just accomplished way too much. He’s not even done yet. He very well could tie or pass Roger with Wimbledon and overall titles, match wins. Federer’s dominance in his prime was special. It shouldn’t be forgotten. Same goes for Nadal's whole career. But Novak is the clear GOAT. It doesn’t mean we can’t be in awe of all three of them. They gave us the the golden era of tennis.

@meisu3287

I found this debate stupid. There is just one objective standard, the numbers. If you start putting in subjective standard, then it is pointless, just like whether you will argue over if someone is good looking....

@minguyen2589

If Courier has confirmed that this is fact based, and Nole is the GOAT, why did he say at the beginning "statistically" it's over..... when Federer and Nadal or playing, there was NO such thing as statistics GOAT. GOAT is GOAT, thats it.... but when its Novak, then it's statistically, then its BOAT like Matt Willander said... unbelievable

@pedropelaez

Yes he is. Facts and stats don’t lie. You don’t have to like Novax (and I sure don’t) to admit he is the GOAT.

@dannyboyster

Good point from JIm about the the Big Three playing against each other in the same generation so the actual H2h data is there while Ali and Holifield is like Bill Russel and Michael Jordan.

@faisalful1

Thank you Jim and Prakash for your courage and honesty.

@jus_danny

Its shocking how this is even a question.

@yacovmitchenko1490

True, the debate is over for now. Sinner and Alcaraz may one day challenge his status, though.

@davidmelodyrian

Is this an old discussion? It seems out of place this week. I'm a Novak fan, but this sounds like a discusion tennis analysts would have right after a Grand Slam final.

@Mauruud

One thing that may seem unfair to federer is That his favorite surfar is Only a very small part of the year. Imagine if there was 2-3 grass masters aswell

@ststeve5212

Imagine achieving so much in your place of work and someone comes to say it’s because the other person dresses elegantly well that’s why they prefer him 😂😂 These debates can be funny sometimes. Peeps should know when to back down, take the L and applaud greatness now it’s in front of you 👏🏼 Best wishes from 🇬🇧
