I absolutely hate how many innocents are dying, but I’m confused what Israel is supposed to do when Hamas refuses a ceasefire and openly admits they want to eradicate the Jewish state. Like what’s the answer to that

I have no "favoritism" or whatever you want to call in in this horrific ongoing war. I am wondering about the mindset of these Hamas, etc. leaders. Is it the case where the lives of the "civilian" population are meaningless? Are lives so cheap in this part of the world to the point where no one gives a darn other than to say you need to stop. You are a criminal. You are a terrorist. It seems obvious the refusal to release hostages means the overwhelming military response continues. Does it make sense to release all of the hostages? Will this have the effect of reducing or stopping the military response? Will all the people who reside in this part of the world ever going to learn to live peacefully next door to each other?
