Africa has some of the best stories some of the most diverse stories. It's the birthplace of humanity. We’re from Nigeria, we’re Nigerian Where is the Nigerian content? Iwájú is a love letter to Lagos. I was lying in bed one morning and every morning I read the news on my phone and I go to the different newspapers and I was on the BBC and they had this headline 'Pan-African comic book company wants to kick Disney's...' You know. So I was like 'Oh! This looks fun.' There is just this expectation
people have of the media coming out of Nigeria coming out of Africa. One of our goals was to break that. I want us to not just tell the stories of the world but by the people of the world. It just felt like for all of us it would give us something really new to build together. Iwájú is a futuristic sci-fi story set in Lagos, Nigeria. So you want to see the real Lagos? Yes! I want every part of it to feel Nigerian. Lagos has a certain audacity as a place. Look at you smiling you know you're givin
g me high price. There are certain things that if we don't get right people are going to come for me "Tolu, you had one job." Lagos is a melting pot. You never know when you're going to stumble on magic. There is that weight of responsibility. What if I fail? As an African mum drawing or doing art is nothing. That's Nigerian mentality. We're an army to just help tell the story of Iwájú. It is a dance where I am doing the tango and you are over here cha-cha sliding. This is either going to end re
ally well or it's going to end really badly. But I think it's important to take a leap of faith. Let’s see what happens. Are you guys ready for Africa? Yeah!

I really liked Iwájú. It was a fantastic series with thrilling action, gorgeous Disney animation, and wonderful characters!

I just watched episode 1. The animation style was great, the story was engaging, and the background imagery and music definitely made it feel exotic to an american viewer. I immediately felt connected with the characters and caught up with the story. I found it very entertaining, and I will definitely watch the remaining 5 episodes of season 1 at a comfortable pace. Prob 1 or 2 episodes a day at most.

Honestly Iwaju should be a feature-length film rather than being limited to just a TV series on Disney+. Like Disney does so well at animated shows recently but its and Pixar’s feature-length films are questions
