Luke Bryan) [Verse 1: Jordan Davis] A few days 'fore he turned 80 He was sitting out back in a rocker He said, "What you been up to lately?" I told him chasing a dollar And in between sips of coffee He poured this wisdom out Said if you want my two cents on making a dollar count [Chorus: Jordan Davis] Buy dirt Find the one you can't live without Get a ring, let your knee hit the ground Do what you love but call it work And throw a little money in the plate at church Send your prayers up and your roots down deep Add a few limbs to your family tree And watch their pencil marks and the grass in the yard All grow up 'Cause the truth about it is it all goes by real quick You can't buy happiness But you can buy dirt [Verse 2: Luke Bryan] Before you get caught on that ladder Let me tell you what it's all about Find you a few things that matter That you can put a fence around And then he laid it out [Chorus: Jordan Davis & Luke Bryan] Buy dirt Find the one you can't live without Get a ring, let your knee hit the ground Do what you love but call it work And throw a little money in the plate at church Send your prayers up and your roots down deep Add a few limbs to your family tree And watch their pencil marks and the grass in the yard All grow up 'Cause the truth about it is it all goes by real quick You can't buy happiness But you can buy dirt You can buy dirt [Bridge: Jordan Davis & Luke Bryan] And thank the good Lord for it 'Cause He ain't making any more of it [Chorus: Jordan Davis & Luke Bryan] So buy dirt Find the one you can't live without Get a ring, let your knee hit the ground Do what you love but call it work And throw a little money in the plate at church Send your prayers up and your roots down deep Add a few limbs to your family tree And watch their pencil marks and the grass in the yard All grow up 'Cause the truth about it is it all goes by real quick You can't buy happiness But you can buy dirt Songwriters: Jacob Davis, Jordan Davis, Josh Jenkins, and Matt Jenkins Producer: Paul DiGiovanni ......... 👨‍💻 If you like "Jordan Davis - Buy Dirt (ft. But you can buy dirt You can't buy happiness 'Cause the truth about it is it all goes by real quick All grow up And watch their pencil marks and the grass in the yard Add a few limbs to your family tree Send your prayers up and your roots down deep And throw a little money in the plate at church Do what you love but call it work Get a ring, let your knee hit the ground Find the one you can't live without So buy dirt 'Cause He ain't making any more of it And thank the good Lord for it You can buy
dirt But you can buy dirt You can't buy happiness 'Cause the truth about it is it all goes by real quick All grow up And watch their pencil marks and the grass in the yard Add a few limbs to your family tree Send your prayers up and your roots down deep And throw a little money in the plate at church Do what you love but call it work Get a ring, let your knee hit the ground Find the one you can't live without Buy dirt And then he laid it out That you can put a fence around Find you a few things

Question: Where in the world are you listening from?

@finishedwithsalt317

Wholesome lyrics about family values that aren't sex-laden, sung to lovely instrumentals, THIS is what the people at large still want! Well done!!

@emmacurrie2449

This song is a core memory for me. Dancing in my living room with my husband having our two little girls dance around our feet while I carry our third daughter.. it makes me cry every time. This is what life is about.

My 11th grade math teacher used to play this song during class. The entire year I wonder why this song ment so much as to play it during class. Fast forward to the end of year I finally decided to ask her. Im directly quoting the conversation here. I asked "Why do you enjoy listening to this so much?" She responded with something I havent forgotten since that moment. "Because its about life. The dirt in a way represents everything inside yourself. If you can make a career out of doing something you enjoy, then you can find someone to share you life. And eventually youll get to have children that you can show how to 'buy dirt'." And I'm here about 2 or 3 years later still trying to buy dirt

Songs are great. If I heard this 20 years ago it wouldn't have stuck. I had it, lost it, but on my way to getting it back. If you're reading this and feel like you messed up, nope. It's not too late, so, forgive yourself and get to creating your new life! Buy dirt...

“Watch their pencil marks and the grass in the yard all grow up.” I cannot listen to this song while looking at my babies without breaking down. Absolutely amazing lyrics. I’m not one for this new era of country music, but this was well written. And sang.
