you ready all right good morning I'm Sergeant Ray Reeves with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide unit a little after 4 a.m. approximately 4:15 a.m. this morning Patrol officers were dispatched to the 700 block of cesary Boulevard off of the Arlington Expressway they were initially called to shots of gunfire but while in route the call was updated to an individual who had been shot uh in a vehicle uh quickly arrived on scene and determined there was an individual who had been shot uh Jack
sonville fire and rescue Department arrived on scene as well unfortunately pronounced the adult male victim as deceased at the scene he was not transported to a hospital this is very early on in the investigation there are indications and that the gunfire came from outside the vehicle and that's all that we know currently right now Detective from the homicide unit are on scene along with the crime scene unit detectives and the medical examiner's office uh State Attorney's office has been notifie
d and they have arrived as well again this is very early in the investigation it just happened a few hours ago and we are working now to determine the the individual's name U make contact with family and and begin that process of pulling through we I can tell you that he's an adult male uh probably are approximately in 20s maybe 30s but I don't again don't hold me to that yet it's till still too soon to know no they have a a substation nearby and they were they were uh actually leaving and asked
could could they be of assistance with anything don't believe that is the case there there is some evidence outside that we are again early in the investigation we try to grab everything that we possibly can so that we don't lose that evidence um it may be in play with what took place but we're just not sure yet uh we're not sure we're not sure the indications are he's in a vehicle that that that is probably what happened but but it's too soon to know no I we don't know who the victim is yet no
r obviously a shooter right no sir but he was found that's correct yes sir he's not in the parking lot no no sir no we're we're looking for those right now right again a lot of those would be closed on Sunday morning but we're we're making contact with uh with those businesses anything near the area here uh off on the on the on the side of the road I too soon to tell that we again it's just too early to tell that I I can't from from my vantage point outside I I can't tell I have to wait for the
medical examiner situation like this there not a whole lot that you have how difficult your job correct um it is um but again with the with the with the sheriff's office um we've got great detectives and so they're going to begin with identifying him um and then from there we'll we'll begin backtracking talking to family friends when was the last time he was seen and then create a timeline based on that how how long you uh we'll probably be out here I would imagine at least another hour or two p
