We then pass by the KTW office building, which stands out for its modernity against the city's architectural backdrop. Our route takes us under the General Ziętek roundabout, past the monument to the Silesian Uprisers, a tribute to the heroes of the region. From there, we head towards the main market. 👉 During the walk, which took place on January 28, 2024, the Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity was happening in Katowice. That day, concerts, auctions, and fundraising were organized across Poland. This initiative, running for 32 years, enables the Foundation to gather funds for purchasing medical equipment, reaching amounts around 50 million dollars annually. 👉 A demonstration was also held by the monument to the Silesian Uprisers, organized by representatives of the previous government, expressing their opposition to the current authorities. We then cross the Market, heading down 3 Maja Street towards the Katowice Railway Station, later passing through Dworcowa Street and Mariacka Street. The latter, transformed a few years ago from a busy road into a vibrant promenade filled with clubs, bars, and restaurants, especially comes to life in summer until the early morning, becoming the heart of the city's nightlife.
