For centuries nations have been waiting for the  great spiritual reformer of the latter days, the Promised Messiah (as). He has come and gone, But only some exceptional individuals have  had the good fortune of being in his presence. But the yearning is in the hearts  of many others for a Khalifa from amongst his Khulafa to reach them. With the  progression of the Jamaat came the opportunity and hope for nations to have the presence  of such Holy personages in their homeland. The land of Africa
has not only been blessed with the divine message of Islam Ahmadiyya but  the presence of the Khulafa themselves. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih III, made two  momentous tours to Africa in his tenure, opening the gates to the blessings  of Khilafat on the land of Africa… Huzoor (rh) graced Ghana with his  presence in the years 1970 and 1980, during his tour of the west African countries. During his blessed journey, Huzoor  engaged in various activities, visiting and inaugurating institutional buildings
and mosques of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Huzoor (rh) delivered addresses  at Schools and Universities, where large crowds would gather to hear him. Huzoorrh also graced receptions  with various ambassadors, state ministers, church representatives and  correspondents of radio and news agencies. The visits were short but they had a profound  impact on all those that were able to see Huzoor (rh), be it Ahmadis or non-Ahmadis, thus  rejuvenating the faith of all Ahmadis in Ghana. After the d
emise of Hadrat Khalifat-ul Masih  IIIrh, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad (rh) was elected as the fourth Khalifah of the Ahmadiyya  Muslim community. Fast forward in time, the year 1988 presented a glorious opportunity  for members of Ghana Jama’at to host a Khalifah once again on their own soil. On 5th February, Khalifa Rabi (rh) was received by thousands of Ahmadis who were  filled with emotion by Huzoor's presence. On his arrival Huzoor (rh) was  asked what brought him to Africa: "So what brings me
is the community here,  mainly, and moreover Africa in my opinion is a very important continent. Its importance  is emerging with the passage of time and the whole world is now compelled to take  note of the future rise of Africa." During his tenure, this was the only visit to  Ghana by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih the fourth (rh). However, Huzoor’s visit to Ghana did not only  influence the spiritual and organisational system of the Jama’at but also had a great  positive impact in the development of
Ghana. In the present age of Hazrat  Khalifatul Masih V (aba), the land of Africa continues to be blessed with  the presence of the Khalifa of the time. To date, His Holiness has made two historical visits  to Ghana. Each filled with memorable moments. During the tour of 2004 and on Huzoor’s  (aba) arrival, a Press Conference was immediately convened where Huzoor extended  his best wishes to the people of Ghana: "I have come here to see my loved ones,  the community of the Ahmadiyya movement. I
'm so moved and overwhelmed  that I can't say much today." A historical moment arrived when Hazrat  Khalifatul Masih V (aba) graced the opening session of Jalsa Salana Ghana. It was the first  time an address by a Khalifa was broadcast LIVE on MTA from Ghana. The president of Ghana, Mr  John A. Kufuor, was also present on the stage. The year of 2008 brought another  blessed opportunity for members of Ghana Jama’at to host their beloved Imam. On his visit, Huzoor (aba) met  with the President of
Ghana, Mr John A. Kufuor at Castle Ossu in Accra. The two leaders spoke about a  number of issues such as the Education and Agricultural systems within Ghana. The first Jalsa of the Khilafat  Centenary was inaugurated by Huzoor (aba) at Bagh‐e‐Ahmad  (Garden of Ahmad) in Ghana. And thus another historic visit came  to an end. Huzoor bid farewell to the residents of Ghana and headed  towards Nigeria in April 2008. With unquenchable emotion and tears of joy, members of Jamaat Ahmadiyya Ghana bade
farewell to their beloved Imam with hopes and prayer to have an opportunity  to host him again in the near future. The merciful sight of the Khulafa has  always gazed on the land of Ghana, this blessed country holds a  significant place in their hearts. Undoubtedly the love for Khilafat is  found in each and every Ghanaian heart, who always strive to be at the forefront of  receiving the spiritual enlightenment of Khilafat. May Allah the Almighty always bless the  land of Ghana, and enable them
to gain the nearness of Khilafat and fulfil the  expectations of their Khalifa, Ameen.
