well the Knoxville Center for Autism is planning to buy a playground for children in the community KCA is a group that helps children who are on the autism spectrum or related disorder to reach their full potential according to the CDC it's estimated that one in 36 children in the US is on the Spectrum which means having a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how one interacts communicates learns and behaves KSA is holding a pancake breakfast and an Easter egg hunt coming up soon
to raise money for the project the group wants to purchase is a playground that has a soft base instead of mulch and specially designed swings what's important is just having that space outside for them to be able to go outside and safely play and be able to play with their with their friends um in a very natural type environment because with a lot of our kids we start them off here and our goal is to have them transition into a bigger setting like a public school setting or something and uh th
at way they understand how to use the equipment appr ately so that when they go to the school setting they're not for example getting in trouble because they're climbing up the slide the wrong way or something like now the playground would help kids work on their gross motor skills their play skills and have a safe place outside the fundraiser is coming up March 23rd it is from 900 in the morning till 11:00 a.m. at the Knoxville Center for Autism on Oakridge Highway the cost is $12.50 per person
