ound 3 30 PM Wednesday from Atlanta to Seattle 38 year old Brandon Scott handed a flight attendant a note in that note Scott claimed he had a bomb and if the plane lands in Seattle he would kill everyone on board he demanded the plane be diverted to another airport which is how Alaska Airlines flight 334 ended up at the Spokane International Airport passenger Dave Chavez says he was on board with his two sons when you're coming home from a vacation with the grandparents Chevette says he thought
the plane was diverted for a medical emergency he later realized things were much more serious I didn't really start feeling nervous until we got off of the plane and there was a police officer who was guiding us to some shuttles to take us to the uh airport fire station documents say authorities detained the suspect and searched the plane the Spokane bomb squad didn't find any explosives documents say Scott didn't admitted his claims were false and he did not place any bombs on the plane the co
urt says he told law enforcement members of the cartel were waiting to harm and kill him in Seattle Thursday afternoon Scotland before a federal judge in a yellow jumpsuit here he faced one count of false information in hoaxes if Scott is found guilty he could spend up to five years in jail and receive a 250 thousand dollar fine his next court appearance is scheduled for July 19th I also spoke to a criminal justice expert with knowledge on FBI investigations he told me that mental health is goin

s on that plane I have to ask after something like this how do you feel about flying it's definitely scary like I said I'm someone that I'm an overthinker I have so much anxiety when it comes to anything like that in an email two passengers Alaska Airlines apologized offering to cover expenses and a 300 Flight Credit NTSB investigators just got to the scene a few hours ago and tell us they'll be here for the next few days and tonight the sheriff's office has identified that pilot as 70-year-old
Jerry Seibert they say he was the only person on the plane and died in the crash officials say the Cessna 182 took off from the St Mary's Airport this morning at 9 17 a.m shortly after takeoff Witnesses heard the engine sputtering and saw smoke coming from the engine the NTSB says the pilot may have reported the engine failure over the radio the plane went down about a quarter mile from the airport in Hayfield it appears the pilot attempted to return to the airport and in the turn back is when t
he crash happened it's in a hay field about a quarter mile from the end of the runway um so this is our on scene portion we plan to be here for two or three days it's our fact Gathering phage we're trying to document and gather perishable evidence which is evidence that can change with time the NTSB says it's possible the plane stalled if it was attempting to turn back to the airport with little or no power but they're still in the early stages of the investigation what we're going to be looking
at is the man the machine and the environment we're going to be looking such as like weather ATC data maintenance records information about the pilot the wreckage will eventually be sent to a secure facility where they'll continue to examine the plane they say a preliminary report should be on their website in three weeks a final report though could take one to two years the Sheriff's Office says that pilot was from Tacoma but also had a home in Calder Idaho which is about 20 miles east of here
