- I hate California. I want to go to the east coast. I want to go where culture is like New York. - How in the world did I raise such a snob? - Or at least Connecticut or New Hampshire or where writers live in the woods. - You can't even get in those schools anyway. - Mom! - You should just go to city college. You know? With your work ethic, just go to city college and then to jail, and then back to city college and maybe you'd learn to pull yourself up and not expect everybody to do everything-
- - Lady Bird... Is that your given name? - Yeah. - Why is it in quotes? - I gave it to myself, it's given to me by me. - Lady Bird always says that she lives in the wrong side of the tracks, but I always thought that that was like a metaphor. But there are actual train tracks. - What you do is very baller. It's very anarchist. - Put the magazine back. - She has a big heart, your mom. - She's warm but she's also kind of scary. - You can't be scary and warm. - I think you can. Your mom is. - So y
ou're not interested in any catholic colleges? - No way. I want schools like Yale, but not Yale because I probably couldn't get in. - You definitely couldn't get in. - Does mom hate me? - If you're tired we can sit down. - I'm not tired. - You were dragging your feet. - You are so infuriating. - Please stop yelling. - I'm not yelling. Oh it's perfect! - Do you love it? - You both have such strong personalities. - When is a normal time to have sex? - You're having sex? - I'm ready. I just wanted
it to be special. - Why? - You're gonna have so much unspecial sex in your life. - We're afraid that we will never escape our past. - Whatever we give you, it's never enough. It's never enough. - It is enough. - (preacher) We're afraid of what the future will bring... (sirens) (preacher) We're afraid we won't be loved... - You can't do anything unless you're the center of attention! - (preacher) You won't be liked... - Yeah well you know your moms tits, they're totally fake! - She made one bad d
ecision at 19. - Two bad decisions! - (preacher) And we won't succeed. - I want you to be the very best version of yourself that you can be. - What if this is the best version? - What I'd really like is to be on math olympiad. - But math isn't something you're terribly strong in. - That we know of yet.

“Mom, do you like me?” “Of course I love you.” “No, but do you like me.” That line hit different.

@loannysalcedo5308

When she open the door of the car and threw herself i was like “thats a mood”

@MEflip3

this trailer did not do this movie justice AT ALL. it was wayyy more deep than this

@linebasket8369

"But math isn't something you're terribly strong at..." "That we know of yet" Way to go girl! That's the right attitude :D

@carliegrice1570

The mother daughter relationship in this is by far the most relatable one I’ve ever seen in the movie. The longing for something greater but the feeling of guilt that what you have isn’t enough for you. It was so beautifully portrayed.

@randomone7210

Is it just me or does an end of a good movie such as this makes you sad and empty, like a feeling of nostalgia of the times that didn’t exist, like you’re missing out on something, that somehow your surrounding seems different. I don’t know

@ClintAndrie

"She made ONE bad decision when she was 19!" "Two bad decisions!" LOL IM SOLD

@maiyamichaela6854

this is the most relatable movie I've ever watched

@CountryCowboy008

"What if this is the best version?" That really hit me hard when I saw the film. That's actually one of my biggest fears. I'm trying hard to be the best that I can be - to be the better version of me tomorrow, at least better than today. But what if, this person who is me right now is the best version? :'(

@genevieve9366

I love it in the shop when they’re fighting and then they just find a dress and are all happy and nice, I feel like that sums up a lot of parent-kid relationships

@waltdisney566

This movie makes me feel like I missed out on a lot in life.

@jhicks9902

This is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest movies ever made. So funny, deep, touching, relatable, and human.

@eabantoespinoza

"What if this is the best version" ..that line is everything.

@xWonderLandLPSx

this movie made me cry. especially the ending. lady bird's relationship with her mother also made me bawl, because I can relate to it, sadly. my mom and I used to not get along very well; we're fine now, but that aspect of the movie really hit home for me. loved her and Timothee, of course. <3

@maddierose3114

The most relatable part of the movie was the part when the mom yelled at Christine for using to many towels after her shower...

@ellien8934

“we’re afraid that we will never escape our past. we’re afraid of what the future will bring. we’re afraid we won’t be loved, we won’t be liked, and we won’t succeed.”

@DanielaLealfabforever

"what if this is my best version" This hit so close to home

@gregjac

"What if this is the best version"....man, that hit me like a ton of bricks.

@violetdurn1571

She always wanted to be anywhere but home... And when she's finally in the big bright city, in that 'great world' , she understands how wonderful her hometown and family is, in all its simplicity... Beautiful!!

@angelinasantillan2555

Her jumping out of the car is me when me and my mom start arguing
