just 109 days and 57 minutes away from the John Deere classic bringing all the magic to the green but magic is also being made on the course with the concerts which are coming back again this year we've got news8 Sports director Matt randazzle joining us live in syis from TPC de details on that announcement Matt I like the countdown David by the minute as well that's exciting yet jender classic will be here before we know it and of course last year was better than ever with concerts on the cours
e making its debut Darius Rucker and Lake Shelton concerts out here it was a great summer last year this one even better as we got word of the lineup for concerts on the course part two tournament director Andrew Layman joins us now give us the low down what's the rundown who's headed to the Jor Classic this year well we're really excited today to make an announcement in mid March versus mid Jan or mid June last year uh we're excited to have Counting Crows on Saturday and uh Laney Wilson who's p
robably the hottest country music star right now on Sunday um how does this you mentioned cuz last year was a little later this is it's a difficult process to do how excited are you to have it done early and there's a lot that goes into it I'm sure there is and we learned a lot last year um and we figured last year was rousing success we United golf fans and non-golf fans alike really brought A Renewed Energy to the John Deere Classic on the weekend and knowing this year we're going to be center
ed around the Fourth of July Fourth of July holiday uh we're just really excited to do it and uh it's going to be right back at 18 again and and we expect big crowds on Saturday and Sunday everything went great last year but but I'm sure you learned some things what are some things you learned what are maybe some differences that'll maybe take place this year that was opposed to last year well we've got a great staff here at the John Deere classic and uh I I don't know that I'd call us concert e
xperts yet but we are learning as we go more restrooms more bar lines and uh it was just so much fun to see the excitement and uh you know being around town and hearing for months after what what a great time people had so we're looking to build on that kind of talk about that because there was an extra buzz and there's always that magic that's always been there but to couple the two what was that like for you guys your staff everybody out here at the gender classic well if I think back to Sunda
y last year you had sep straa on 58 watch for a while uh then 59 watch and the golf course was packed early in the day people wanted to get their seats and be out there on 18 and then you know a massive Gallery following his group as he came down the home stretch and it all culminated with a great uh you know two days of golf and live music and then certainly 14.1 million to our nonprofits in town and another record year um you mentioned you're not a concert professional when it comes putting th
em together you are when it comes to golf um how excited are you um what do you know um and how how what can golf fans look forward to as they get ready for this year you know it's still too early to know about the field um but I think we saw last year these changes to the PJ tour schedule certainly worked in our favor uh we expect that to happen again and and uh you know we had nine top 50 guys in the world here last year and and we're looking to build off that and continue to bring great uh gr
eat talent here it it moved up one last one for you it moved up a little bit and so it does kind of coincide with it with the the the holiday this is actually where the play will be on Thursday I think of the of the 4th of July how do you incorporate all that and I think that's something that you kind of embrace don't you we do and you know to be America's tournament centered around the 4th of July we've got a great military presence here in the Quad Cities so to be able to celebrate that and an
d welcome people here we're going to have discounted tickets on that Thursday and and just make it easy for people to come spend part of their holiday with us yeah so it's exciting times Andrew Layman thank you so much it is the Counting Crows on Saturday Lany Wilson on Sunday and of course we got a pretty good view from our that you're not moving us are you no right we are okay beautiful so we have a good view we hope you guys get out and enjoy some great music coming up on 4th of July weekend
