well what remains to be seen here is if this suspect whoever he is you know was a trying to Ambush cops was he in the middle of a a major domestic situation these are all things that are going to be determined much later and we'll have the answers much later it's so many questions here but at this point they're starting to put water on the fire which would tell you that perhaps there's a threat that's been um you know neutralized at this point because there are no more gunshots being reported ye

ah that's the word you hear from police often Jason neutralized meaning they took out the shooter or they're at least confident either taking him and he's down or taking him into custody somehow or at least knowing that the threat has been uh eliminated on that scene I mean when we initially saw the Flames uh at least from this hose right here uh working to put out the Flames that that was the initial thought but you know you can see some police officers lined up next to their squad squad cars o

n the corner there we also saw some activity on the side of a neighboring home with about four or five guys dressed in black moving in toward the back of the home so it's still too early in this uh breaking news uh story here to figure out whether whether the the shooter has been captured uh what the deal is but right now it looks very active from high above Steve how far is pen Presby from this scene uh that's just minutes away I mean remember even though it's rush hour and even though you're d

riving through the remainder of West Philadelphia Southwest Phil just getting over the Delco line we're not that far in terms of geographical miles the question is is the traffic right now going on and they are obviously going to clear traffic with those lights and sirens and keep in mind let me just remind everybody if we don't need another reminder about how dangerous a police officers job is we've had two Philadelphia police officers shot in the last few days and now maybe more officers shot

in the line of duty now so here we are just starting this year 2024 and four local police officers here in Philadelphia and in the around surrounding suburbs already taking bullets Steve can you talk to us more about what you're seeing outside Penn Presbyterian uh have you seen any signs of any family members coming out to the hospital no but that's something remember if somebody's shot in the line of duty the officers have to tell them somehow reach them and then they usually drive them here as

well uh but not as soon as possible but not immediately like we'd seen here within the hour of somebody going down because that's something that's delicate obviously you want to reach somebody whether they're at work at their own place of work or wherever they are that's where you whenever you fill out something they ask you for an emergency number well the comps also give uh people emergency numbers in case something happens like this where they can reach their next of kin and then tell them a

bout this and so say your wife is at work right now the officers will try to pick her up at work and then bring her to be with her husband if that's the case in this case I would imagine you're seeing uh departments and and mutual aid from all over Delaware County or you said have referred I'm sure there's some Philly cops there um not to mention East lands down and many others there so I mean this this is an incident that has the attention of every Police Department in the Delaware Valley I'm s

Township big SUV at 38th in palon so you're right on the money there lots of Delco police departments here along with all the Philadelphia police and the University of Pennsylvania police we say and what you can see where we parked we parked behind a whole line of Philadelphia police officers right in the middle of the left turning lane of 38th Street as well so we knew this was unusual uh when we got here because that road was closed initially and now they're letting traffic get through and th

e reason for that is the last thing they want is the area around this emergency room seeming like a parking lot when they're trying to get people here all right well if you're just joining us here we want to recap uh this breaking news here we have two police officers they Department unknown and an 11-year-old girl all three shot in East Landsdown on Lewis Avenue either inside or outside this house here you can see burning out of control this happened right around 3:40 is this afternoon all of t

he victims taken to pen presy and that is where our Steve kley is the SWAT team other law enforcement uh officers on the ground right now last we understand here is that this is still an active shooter situation but we have seen the SWAT vehicles out there the armored vehicles out there and a huge police presence still no information on what triggered this entire thing but again we have two police officers and a child shot and East Lands Down an 11-year-old girl along with those two officers her

e on Lewis Avenue our Chris o Connell live near the scene here Chris what can you tell us well guys it is a very active scene here in lown let me just show you get right to it this is the house burning out of control in Lewis just about a block from me just to give you a little bit of perspective we are right on Baltimore Avenue if you're in Baltimore Avenue in the yaden uh Clifton Heights landown area you were seeing this smoke uh it is a very tense situation only because we're being kept away

for safety reasons just to uh recap two officers shot an 11-year-old girl also shot no yet no word on the conditions yet and what we're being told is the uh the the alleged shooter the suspect uh he is still not in custody is he in this Burning home we do not know but you can see the traffic here people being rerouted along the Baltimore Pike um we've seen uh we what we believe is uh federal law enforcement show up on the scene definitely local uh law enforcement with SWAT and you could just see

the black smoke just billowing you could probably see it from Sky Fox a lot of people in this area just wondering what is going on uh people running here and there people being told to get move away um so this is not only an active shooter situation right now as it stands we're still waiting from confirmation and an update from local authorities but right now this is still an active shooter situation with heavy response from a state and or local and federal law enforcement as a now they're deal

ing with the other situation is a burning home now burning out out of control that thick black smoke coming from a residential neighborhood of the unit block of Lewis Avenue here right near the intersection of Baltimore Pike and Lewis so uh active scene we're going to see if we can get a little closer we don't want to get too close and impede an investigation but guys it's a very chaotic and a very active scene here in landown we'll bring you back when we got some more info and Chris standby uh

looks like the house next door is on fire as well and firefighters doing their best to try to save it they are putting water on that house there's also a car to the other side of that house that's on fire too so you can see right there at the bottom left of your screen there are some officers there but but firefighters putting and earlier we saw a firefighter elbowing the door to try to break in and and probably try to alert anybody inside to get out there you can see a big stream of water there

from uh from our vantage point right in the center of your screen so they're trying to save that house um you know that just gives you an idea of just how intense this fire is that other house obviously a total loss but uh it's it appears that everybody's out of that other house I would have to imagine firefighters going in there to clear and guys yeah yeah forgive me Jason we're getting a little closer to the scene uh starling Underwood our videographer we're getting a little closer again we d

on't want to get too close we still believe this is an active shooter situation we don't know where that suspect is uh people are coming out of their homes let's stand right here uh Starling so uh forgive me a little bit out of breath just getting to the scene trying to figure out uh and hear from people how they're dealing with this m huge black smoke and you said now catching another residence next door Jace yeah and it's it's smoldering right up at the top of the attic again not sure if if th

ere anybody was even inside to begin with but firefighters were knocking down a door in there just to make sure and it's a pretty sizable house uh and it's just too close these two homes are very close together the intensity of that other fire spreading to the neighboring house all right Steve key you have an update at pen Presbyterian yes so I'm texting with a Super Source One of the police ch Chiefs out in Delco so this is what happened East landown received a call for a shooting that an 11-ye

ar-old child was shot and when the officers arrived the shooter shot the officers so they go to respond just like we thought for this 11-year-old shooting and both officers shot in their legs both here now at Presby the sad part of that is and the unsaid part of that is which I got from another source they were never able to get to the child shot so that child was never able to be saved and brought out by those officers since they were shot and then as we saw remember I'm not seeing what you're

seeing from the helicopter but it seemed like everybody backed off because he was shooting at the cops that they hadn't gotten to the 11-year-old shot yet and we only can hope that she is okay but that is what's going on uh we want to get out to to Chris right now Chris yeah we just got a little closer to the scene here a block away from this home on Lewis and you could just see this home is just completely engulfed uh you see it from the ground uh you see it from the sky and unfortunately you t
