a [Music] lauren lauren it's almost as if it was written l-o-r-e-n okay and and actually i didn't realize that that actually is a name here i've been told so now whenever there is also a name here i guess so because when i get my starbucks coffee now i don't have to say like some other weird name like maria or stephanie like i say loren and then they get it and they write it l-o-r-e-n okay i had no idea nice so why did you come to colombia or when did you come to colombia aqui why did you come t
o colombia when did you come to colombia us why did you come to colombia did is in pasa el verbo du en pasado when did you come to colombia and ton says no decimals when you came to colombia decimals when did you come to colombia comuna pregunta why did you come to colombia why did you go to colombia for example cuando viniste a why did you go to colombia go why did you go when did you go when did you come toda so why did you come to colombia or when did you come to colombia okay so i came to co
lumbia the first time i ever visited columbia was when i was doing a study abroad in peru the first time i ever came to colombia entonces implemented the first time i came to colombia or the first time i came to latin america la primera es que fui a colombia okay preguntas utilization did you go to colombia why did you go to colombia i went to colombia because so so in the states four years is the university uh like the bachelor's degree yes yes four years and so i spent my entire third year in
peru lima um at that point i was like i don't know 65 fluent i wanted to get to 100 fluency so i made sure that i spent made sure americana sure in a program that was you know zero english i lived with a host family who did not speak any english et cetera so in my time there i found out that i had an uh cousin who lived here ella utilizal found out found out quieredesir so in my time there i found out that i had an uh cousin who lived here and this was the place i always wanted to visit because
i had a long time friend from college who was from here so i visited for the first time in december 2015. and after literally the first day i was like this is where i want to live hands down hands down an expression super commune in this thousand hands down i remember i went to a bar or a club once in medellin when i just arrived here and we went out and they sat us down at this table we went out went out los americanos for that we went out we went out went out espe es el pasado de go out salir

t's so cool so i mean to answer your question of like why i came here i've always wanted to have an abroad living experience uh in latin america yeah like spanish was always the i always had this affinity to like latin culture and spanish yeah so um and i knew that after i graduated was like the best time to do it so i went to college with a lot of um colombians ecuadorans and dominicans okay and by the second year of my college time i was the president of our latino organization awesome imagine
a gringa being the president of the latino organization so awesome i got to know the latino population on campus a lot and i just you know dove head head first with my study abroad and just i dove head first this is my expression needles to dive first el pasado dove first head first pasado you know dove head head first with my study abroad and just said hey like i just really want to live abroad after i graduated medellin was just checking off all my boxes i mean medellin cuando algo is that ch
ecking medellin was just checking off all my boxes i mean medellin in particular because that's a very personal decision as to yeah where you live you know where you move long term so latino men or american men latino men although i have to say that there are some things i don't like about that like what things that i do like or don't like that you don't like um the machismo it's very easy for them to like like just not see it yeah because their their culture raises them conditions them to be to
be like that so um but i do like for instance how they are very family oriented yeah um and you're sorry to interrupt your family they're all in the u.s um yeah yeah sisters brothers mom dad i take that back one i have an older sister and a younger sister so i'm in the middle of three girls my older sister lives in bali in bali indonesia yeah she's a surfer no she's a yoga instructor oh yeah it was either a yoga instructor um so yeah she's the only sister that like lives abroad but all my famil
y members yeah okay yeah so family oriented i really like that about latin men um and then what was i going to say what else was i going to say what else was i going to say what else was i going to say what else was i going to say ah don't know what was i going to say um tell me a sexy man's name latino man's name that's not alejandro oh okay um because you would have said alejandro wouldn't you absolutely um you would have said alejandro grammatical you would have said it okay you would have sa
id have said okay because you would have said alejandro wouldn't you absolutely um i kind of like the name i don't know why this is coming to mind but the first my like uh name that came to mind was diego diego yeah the first name that came to mind was diego the first thing the first name that came to mind but the first like uh name that came to mind was diego diego yeah i don't know why i feel like diego sorry all to all the diego's out there i feel like it sounds like he sounds like a doucheba
g maybe maybe douchebag he sounds like a douchebag maybe maybe could be could be i don't know yeah but i don't know yeah tough question are you a romantic person i don't know are you in love right now no i'm in love with like me and my my projects you know like okay like i feel really geared up with where i am there yeah yeah so hey i'm geared up with where i am right now es o quiere de cirque yo estoy en i'm not like 35 and like wanting like a family and kids and like wanting to find the romanc
e how old are you i'm 26. 26. okay how old are you if i may ask if i may ask i want to play a quick game of this or that okay okay yeah so no thinking just answer just okay you ready i like it coffee or tea coffee motorcycles or cars motorcycles hamburgers or pizza hamburger adventure or relax adventure american accent or british accent british accent okay toilet paper over or under over over always all right tattoos yes or no yes yes pineapple on pizza yes or no no pineapple pina pina and pizza
i'm italian oh you are okay big or small big go big or go home go big or go home yeah go big or go home an expression super americana in football americano go big yeah in general who are best in bed if i may ask a latino man or american man i don't know that answered that question because i've never literally even gone out with an american what really i've never gone out with an american man go out i have never gone out of this persona or salir go out or go out with this person wait never liter
ally even gone out with an american man really i'm serious and if he was american he wasn't like white american he was like latino or something or okay you got an eye for uh yeah i'm serious the interracial stuff yeah for sure for sure interracial interracial creo que es lumispuen espanol no interracial okay changing topics a little bit what is a uh a bad habit that you have oh my gosh that you don't like that you don't see in a lot of other people perhaps okay um i it is really hard for me to l
ike go to sleep like like it's hard for me to like get in bed like i need a routine like like like it's hard for me to like go to sleep like you know like like like like para los nativos de engles des taos nidos utilizar mucho like like like no significant nada [Music] like it's hard for me to like get in bed like i need a routine to like go to sleep because continuously it's like 12 30 1 o'clock like always no matter no matter what i tell myself or i try to do you know i think it's because i ea
t so late too like when you eat your your stomach is like processing food and then your mind like you can't yeah just fall asleep so that's really bad are you on your phone when you go to sleep maybe some maybe had something to do with that but i make sure that if i am like the light is like down so that because i know that with the lights sometimes it takes when it's more like yellowish yellowish ish aggregate yeah okay so that's a really bad habit of mine yeah i eat as well late but i always g
et in mexican spanish you say mal del puerco okay it means food coma okay yeah and so when i get a food coma i just pass out immediately that's great so maybe you should to pass out for example i passed out to pass out and presented i passed out i just passed out immediately that's great so maybe you should try and eat a lot at night i don't know so this is this is these are no sort of like eating advice or diet advice so don't listen to me yeah i'm completely clueless maybe i need to do fasting
or something i don't know i do fasting as well really yeah it's nice i'm fasted right now that's why i'm so hyper fasting fasting it's fasting no i'm fasting right now estoy ayo nando ramismo i like fasting me gusta ayunar fasting too fast are you not really yeah it's nice i'm fasted right now that's why i'm so hyper yeah i need to try that yeah so let's uh let's end this amazing conversation with a little bit more of a deeper question okay so there are a lot of latino people watching these vid
eos and they really want to learn english to improve their lives and you know go ahead and and um and make progress but many of them are frustrated right because they don't learn as fast as they want to they you know they might be ashamed of their pronunciation what would be like one tip from you being a native english speaker one tip untip a tip so i'm not a native english speaker you're a native english speaker what would like a one tip be to all of those people watching this maybe a little bi
t frustrated like oh she speaks she speaks so beautifully i want to speak like her like what would be one tip for them so um i'll give a tip and then i want to give sort of a little story part of it okay um she says hey they say i'll give a tip i'll give a tip okay um so the tip here is actually sort of what i was explaining to kale before we started filming i said you know um like we were you know fixing ourselves and wanted to look good for the camera you know and people um respond to more nat
uralness i said you know making mistakes and they want to see that stuff because they want to see we're human right and i just think if you take that same perspective they want to see we're human they want to see we're human we are we're they want to see we're human las palaros they want to see we are human querenberry see that stuff because they want to see we're human right and i just think if you take that same um perspective and put it into like when you're learning a language or learning an
ything in life it's understanding that the mistakes are a part of the process and that's a really good thing to be making mistakes because then really really a really good thing and that's a really good thing to be making mistakes because then you either won't make those mistakes again or you just know that you're improving yeah um so i always say you know the faster you can become more comfortable with sounding like a complete idiot yeah the better off you will be because trust me like the bett
er off you'll be on mediocre complicado the better off you'll be emphasizing better off to be better off [Music] i'm completely different because i in swedish i actually have a different accent i have a southern swedish accent which is a weird one and is sort of like there's there are a couple of stereotypes uh related to that accent that you know sort of you can identify with so completely agree with you okay but then so the point of it all is that you know you just push through and then you ju
st become more comfortable making mistakes yeah you just push through push it conclusion you know you just push through and then you just become more comfortable making mistakes yeah a huge part of it too is like going back to your why like it it and this sounds very cheesy again but like anything you're doing with anything you're doing you really need to have those specific reasons even like write them down so that the moments where you're getting really going back to your why it's cheesy it's
cheesy is cheesy alcohol last very cheesy again but like anything you're doing with anything you're doing you really need to have those specific reasons even like write them down so that the moments where you're getting really frustrated and you're just like to hell with this like i don't want to do this anymore to hell with this to hell with this [Music] go back to that desire that that initial desire and just know that the frustrations you're having right now are temporary yeah you know if i c
an add something to that that might sound a little controversial but english or languages in general is not intellectual things so if you want to learn learning a language is not like learning mathematics so mathematics is an intellectual topic whereas you need to understand you need to make connections in your brain yeah and that's you know if you're smart it's easier if you're not so smart it's super super hard whereas with languages it is more a question of exposure and repetition and acquiri
ng new vocabulary so you know there are 300 million americans something like that okay and there are amazing people like you and all those amazing entrepreneurs that build huge companies in the us but there are also a lot of crazy people in in america and all of them speak perfect english so it basically tells us that it's not an intellectual thing it's just a it's so we don't need to punish ourselves with the thought that oh i'm bad at english or i'm stupid or we don't need to punish ourselves
with the thought that we're stupid no tenemos que castigar nos a nosotros mismos con el pensamiento so we don't need to punish ourselves with the thought that oh i'm bad at english or i'm stupid or i'm just as slow because it's just a matter like it's it's it's just the fact that you just haven't exposed yourself enough to the language you haven't studied enough and your mistakes is basically proof of that it's just basically that so if you if you think if or if you feel that you're not good at
english or you're not talented enough always go back to that thought and think you know what i am smart i'm smart enough i learned my first language i can learn any language it's just a matter of exposure yeah and i also want to mention and add something that i love because i i also want to mention i also want to mention wanna es want to tambien quiero means and i also want to mention and add something that i love because i tell myself and i always say this to my audience as well i don't want to
be perfect at spanish you know why because if i am perfect at spanish so perfect that anyone who meets me with spanish spanish muy americano pronunciation me with immediately think i'm latina it it actually kind of takes away from allowing others to see how mistakes are vital and it puts up this like image that um is not always attainable by everybody i want to be always um relatable yeah in my process because i did learn it from zero i don't have one drop of latino blood or any family members
that helped me out you know like this was um due to my own efforts yeah right this was due to my own efforts esto fue gracias amis propios esos yeah and i kind of like you know i i have sort of like improved my spanish a lot and it was fun back when i was you know struggling a lot creating sentences because people are like you're very very exotic yeah it was more like an ego thing you know they wanted like perfection's not not not um not realistic yeah and we should never try to even attain perf
ection no i think with languages you're constantly learning you're always learning yeah i haven't even arrived at 100 fluency and that's what makes it fun isn't it because i haven't even arrived i have not arrived i haven't arrived no e gallo i haven't even arrived inclusion i haven't even arrived at 100 fluency and that's what makes it fun isn't it because yeah i'm always learning and i went on a date a couple months ago with a brazilian girl i went on a date i went on a date i went on a date i
went on a date i went on a date a couple months ago with a brazilian girl and so my my portuguese is you know like not at all as good as my spanish right so but we did have we did go to dinner and we were there for about one and a half hour two hours having drinks eating food and it was quite fun because she was a she was a shy girl so i did most of the talking like i don't know 60 70 of the talking in portuguese and i messed up so many things i even i even spilled a glass of what's it called g
t gin tonic all over her dress oh my gosh because i wanted to show something with my hands and like i did this and this old entire glass just fell over her lap it was so embarrassing but it went well so it's memorable it's memorable you know there you go those are awesome experiences i have lots of stories you know times that i messed up and it just makes for a good story to mess up to mess up holes i have a lot of times when i've messed up experience i have lots of stories you know times that i
messed up and it just makes for a good story yeah for another time yeah right yeah thank you so much for coming thank you so much that was a lot of fun yeah thanks guys ciao

Me devolvió el deseo de aprender inglés al nivel de ser perfecto en ello 🥺 con la frase que más me identifiqué fue "this was due to my efforts" porque es lo que literalmente me ha pasado

@claudiaruizcurly

Mirar este video me hizo tan bien. Aún mejor cuando llegue a la frase "WE DON'T NEED TO PUNISH OURSELVES WITH THE THOUGHT THAT WE ARE STUPID" "NO TENEMOS QUE CASTIGARNOS CON LA CREENCIA DE QUE SOMOS ESTÚPIDOS" No entendí muchas palabras pero mirar este tipo de videos varias veces me esta ayudando mucho , Gracias ❤️

@josevicentemarcanogarcia79

@isaactorres898

I speak spanish as a native language and I have a very good level of english and now I live in France. I am learning french wich is ok too. Gracias 🙏🏾

@germaniacabrera3281

@fba0303

@franciscouzcategui1160

I loved this dynamic... This is the kind of conversation I would like to have with a teacher with exactly the same interruptions for coaching or teaching... Keep it up!

@kenyiangheloarangofarias9551

How cool! I am learning English alone, so English is important in my life. I like everything about me, because I am a positive person and I never give up. In summary, I remember all the time: "Believe in yourself and never stop dreaming". You are a good teacher, thanks a bunch. Greetings from Peru. :)

@AdrianGonzalez-27

Hi there Kale. My English has improved. I am going to see again this video but with subtitles. The first time I saw it without subtitles. I understood in 60%. But it's difficult still. You're a great English teacher. Thanks

@deniseoliveira1207
