all right so this is awesome I love what we got here so comedian Max Thomas and writer performer Annie Sullivan are here to tell us about love at first sight and I was cracking up when I was reading a little bit about this it's like bring your partner lover let me get another spouse friend with benefits friend with extra benefits I'm like that's right is this about yes thank you for being here today um so how did this show come to be what's the plot yeah there's it's a collection of sketches tha
t just sort of showcase you know the odds and ends of dating and how weird it is how nice it is right and there's like some thematic through lines yes but absolutely yeah how awkward he can be to date during these like post lockdown time just the worst oh the worst the worst yes mixed in with like how engagement can be and stuff like last night we we have a part in the show we interview a couple and we pick a random couple in the audience last night we interviewed an older couple who were retire
d School teachers yeah and they've been dating for 12 years and they just they told us about how they love the dance and how they love to you know just celebrate each other together and we love that we love uplifting people that come to our show yeah amazing and so uh when I was reading about this it and then you're like dating is not fun for anybody right now um there's I hear people say a lot we've all lost our social skills and I'm like I guess that's the best way of putting it and then anoth
er guy told me the other day he's like I don't know if we had him to begin with yeah so when people come to your show what are they going to experience kind of like just don't overthink things I don't know yeah truly I think don't overthink things and I think they're going to experience uh seeing themselves on stage a little bit with some distance of like oh yeah I do that weird thing on you that's me up there right yes and how many times have you heard people say oh my gosh I hate dating yeah a
nd yes I mean and so many people that say oh that was my date last week you know that was nice like I got a good one for you um I love the concept of this and especially because we're in like kind of swipe right culture and not just with dating but like work and friendships too and I love that you know it's like I thought it was hilarious you're like friend with benefits bring your friend with extra benefits supersonic BFF I'm like okay and then it's like if you're single just come if you're hum
an that's right yes absolutely but it's just a good time so it is yeah when is the shows you guys are sold out yeah well we're we're performing every night at 7 30 p.m at the temple theater right here in Iowa and it's right here in Des Moines Iowa and it's been wonderful I mean like last night that theater space one is gorgeous I'm happy that they renovated it and it's just it's lovely everybody that that's been there has just been wonderful to us yes what is it like for you both a lot of experi
ence in different performances you know different backgrounds very diverse backgrounds what's it been like for you you it's been a blast honestly just getting to work with the cast and like getting to like develop different ideas and bring our own perspectives of what dating and being single is has just been the best part absolutely yeah and I guess like maybe a takeaway it's not terrible to be single no right and we celebrate that too yes we do yes we do yeah yeah I think we all just got to eas
e up and have some fun and I think what we're talking about with comedy is like you have to be very present yes and like paying attention to the people what you're with absolutely definitely absolutely and bring in your authentic self yeah I think that's the other thing is that people ask us they're like oh will I be picked on will I be talked about but no we're we're really about celebrating everybody that comes there together because we all know that we're in this weird awkward place I think w
