It's that time of year, when Daylight Saving Time costs us an hour of sleep, but gifts us another hour of light at the end of the day. Correspondent Luke Burbank is ready for more.

so did you remember to set your clocks forward
as you do you might want to consider our Sunday morning commentary compliments of Luke Burbank
it's happening America we've arrived at the absolute best day of the year the day we spring
ahead I know you're probably still rubbing your eyes and wondering why this guy on TV is so happy
about you losing an hour of sleep listen you'll get it back just spend one less hour tonight
scrolling through Facebook in bed and look you're all caught up the re
turn to Daylight Saving Time
and by the way there is no "s" at the end which is the official name for what happens today is
a day to celebrate because it means we made it we're survivors of those dark afternoons those
dark mornings and those Dark Nights of the Soul thinking about how well dark it is outside we made
it through the worst of it which for people like me with self-diagnosed Seasonal effective disorder
is actually a pretty big deal just the thought that each day for the next few
months there
will be more Daylight not less is emotionally liberating I stand or well sit before you a
different Luke Burbank have I played even one moment of Ultimate Frisbee in my life absolutely
not would I be there in a heartbeat if you invited me to play some at 6 p.m. tonight you bet your
sweet tukus today everything feels like potential a while back Congress almost passed a law leaving
us on daylight saving time all year round meaning we'd never fall back again think about how good
we'd all get at Frisbee with that kind of extra daylight I say we take it a step further pass a
law next year that Springs us ahead 3 hours yes that first Sunday will be rough I'm not going to
sugarcoat it but after that all those warm spring nights when it wouldn't get dark until 11:00 p.m.
or midnight I mean just the money we'd save on our lighting bills but Luke won't that mean Sunrise
won't be until 1:00 p.m. maybe look I'm no Galileo I honestly haven't thought this through very
well I'
m just a guy brimming with excitement sitting here in front of you on the best day
of the year hoping you'll invite me out to do something fun tonight but not too late because
I'm taping 60 minutes and it's going to be a good one

They don’t do this in Arizona and it is so nice.
I thoroughly despise the time change. I lived in South Korea for six years. They don't change their clocks, and everything is fine. What's all this merde about it giving us "an extra hour of daylight?" The hours of day and night are the same regardless of where we set the clocks!
Wish we wouldn't change the time!!
I wish they would just leave it alone.
Give us more National holidays. Other countries do FREQUENT holidays and things get shut down, people get to celebrate festivities with their families!!
The seasonal variation in daylight hours is dramatically different depending on the latitude. Tropical places don't have much difference in the length of daylight between summer and winter to where they're exactly equal all year round at the Equatir. People who can benefit from daylight saving are the ones living far away from the Equator.
In Arizona we don’t change clocks, so I miss the beginning of my favorite Sunday Morning! Thankful for YouTube
We should stay on standard time.
The earth's orientation relative to the sun is not affected by how we set our clocks. You want more daylight after work? Petition your employer to change your work hours. You want to sleep in later? Petition your employer to change your work hours.
I hate spring ahead! I like when it gets dark in the afternoon, the earlier the better. I sleep so much better if it gets dark early and there’s not a single thing I want to do after 5 PM.
Don't let them fool you, there's still the same amount of daylight for the same date last year.
I have Seasonal Affective Disorder too and I really need light in the morning.
Amen! Im totally with you on this! ...along with millions of others.
There would be more daylight anyway. The US should stay on Standard time, not Daylight time.
Here in Arizona, we want the sun to set as soon as possible which is why we don't observe Daylight Saving Time.
Standard Time forever!
Im from Sweden and am so grateful that the darkness is finally turning to light! In winter the sun sets at 3 in the afternoob :/
Thank you for your talk on this subject. I totally agree with you. I suffer with the same problem. I get extra depressed, Clausterphobic, Cabin Fever. I get the blues where I dont even want to leave my bed or do anything but watch tv and look at my phone. I hate it so much. I have very low energy and am so irritable. If I didnt have to take my dog outside to go to the bathroom several times a day, I wouldnt go outside at all. I feel like I would rather be dead than have to live thru this one more day 😢. Its like Groundhog Day. A nightmare I cant wake up from. Never ending.
We Do Not lose an hour of sleep; unless you wake up with an alarm clock on that one Sunday. If you normally get 7-8, you’ll still get a 7-8. I went to bed at 11; I set my clock ahead early in the evening. I woke up at 8:41am. I usually go to bed at 11 and wake up at 7. So I got 41 minutes more of sleep than I usually get.
Why are we even still doing this?!?! There's an old Indian saying: "Only a white man would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom... and somehow have a longer blanket."
