Hi, I'm April. It's an unsettling time and you may be feeling anxious and worried about a lot of things. I know I haven't been sleeping as well as I should these days. But I'm making a point to be positive right now using my time wisely and focusing on things that matter most -- -- like my health. And you can too. I'm 55 and recently began a second career as a personal trainer after a 30-year career in journalism and communications. I love coaching people of all ages and have a special place in
my heart for seniors. It's never too late to start exercising. In fact, I live with my 79-year-old mom and train with her twice a week. Now that she can't go mall walking on her own, our workouts are even more important. As we age, we all want to look and feel our best and stay active and independent as long as possible. After age 30, we lose muscle, our bone density decreases, and our metabolism slows down. But resistance training can combat all of those things and increase strength. I've been
into fitness since my teens. I remember taking my first yoga class at 19 and feeling the resulting mind-body rush. After that, I was hooked. I began running and got into races for fun -- 10K's, half marathons, and in 2017 -- the exhilarating New York City Marathon which was my first. I'm still an avid runner but I'm conscious of my body and choose to be gentle on my joints to preserve them as long as possible. Now I work out five days a week doing strength training and cardio workouts including
three mile runs. During this time away from the gym, I'm trading weight machines for workouts with my own bodyweight and home tools like dumbbells and resistance bands. I'm excited to share my passion for fitness with you and invite you to get stronger with me. Remember it's never too late to start exercising and it's the perfect time to focus on yourself and your health. I look forward to connecting with you and learning together. In the meantime, keep moving.

So glad to have found this channel. I'm 74 and have been inactive for some time now. This gives me a brand new hope.

Happy New Year April!! I watch & do your exercises together with my son! He is enjoying it we are committed to do more & more this year — 2024!! Thank you to you & Mom😘

Hi April I just love your videos and I love the interaction between you and your Mom, seeing her do the exercises is encouraging for me. Her comments and asides make me smile, rather important when you are exercising on your own. I am quite dyspraxic and after a miserable time trying to take part in sport at school I have shunned all sport ever since. I would never go to a gym and exercise with other people. But now at 78 I exercise religiously each day with you and I am getting better and stronger. It is even more important when your co-ordination is poor even before ageing takes its toll. Best of all, I am really enjoying it...a really unexpected bonus for me. I actually look forward to an exercise session or two every day. Please keep making your videos

@DonnadoosTips

Since our state has moved back to a "Safer at home" order, I have lost my daily trips to our hospital's wellness center and the classes I took there. Your videos have really been a blessing as they are closely mirroring what I am used to doing and at a pace I can accomplish. Thank you so much!

@ritaannheckler2851

I taught aerobics & TaeKwonDo for 15 yrs. back in the 80’s. I’m out of shape now, overweight with arthritis & pain. I’ve been looking for fun, good workout videos & finally found these. You & your mother are great! Thank you!

@patlinda88

Linda Lanotte (age 77) I have been using your workouts since covid began! It has changed my entire focus on daily exercise & has improved my overall health! It feels like I'm working out with friends. my favorite videos are the 50 Minute Cardio & Strengh/30 Minute Walking Workout-Pyramid Format/25 Minute Walking Workout-Pyramid Format. THANK YOU!!!!!

@anitabunting1535

I am 72 with arthritis in my lower back and now found out that I have osteoporosis! I had look for senior exercise videos before but was not happy with them. Just this year I decided that I needed to lose weight. I'd walk around my home, but I live on a hill. I could get down....but not up. So I searched again for senior walking exercises and found April and her mother. I love them!! I figured if her mother could do it, and she's 79, then I could do it. These videos are great!! I've even shared them with my chiropractor who has quite a number of senior patients. Thank you, April!!

@colleendumas36

I love my walks but the cold weather through me for a loop. No in door walking because who can walk with your nose covered 😷 especially power walk. Anyway I was so happy to fine you. So pleased to see your mom with you. Not only is she cute as a button but an inspiration. How exciting you’ve made your passion of fitness into a career. You both have made my day 😃

@maiziearchie1078

Love your fitness videos

@kathydietz7347

Thank you, April. I like that we could begin at 10 minutes and increase our time as we are able because of your range of videos. I also like that on busy days or when we are not up to more, we can go back to the 10 minute video and still work out.

@rosydlt5799

Thank you April, I shared your videos with my friends and siblings. Your mom inspires me

@marijkeschellenbach2680

When I saw this video I noticed your surroundings are much like where I live in southwest Arizona! Your instructions are clear and the exercises are much more doable for my age. I keep trying to walk more but pain between my shoulders progresses as I walk further and makes me bend over until I just give up. I am hoping that your videos can help me with this because I would really like to walk for at least an hour, if not longer. Thank you for your move to help us elderly people.
