But she's awesome and so fun. -Isn't it beautiful? -Yeah, it's the best. -And it's also beautiful to see your friends with your children, because you see how much time has passed. It's making me very emotional. -I know, bud. We were kids, man. -It's beautiful. We were kids. -We were kids. -Yeah, well, you were really a kid. -And now we're younger. -Yes, exactly. Isn't t
hat weird how it happened? -So much younger. -I loved you on "SNL" a couple weeks ago. I saw you with -- Kate McKinnon was hosting. -Yes. Kate's show. -You and -- oh, my God -- Kristen Wiig. -That was fun. -You crushed it. The ABBA thing was just off the rails. -That was a lot of fun. -That was off the rails. -It's so much fun to go back there and not work there anymore. Like, it's like when you go home -- It's like coming home from college and, like, staying at your parents' house, and they're
like, "You can stay in the guest room and get the good soap." -You're like, "Wow!" -It's just nice to be a guest. Because it's our home. You know, I love it there. -What do you remember about when we were there? -Oh, man, you and I goofed around a lot. I feel every time you came in my office, we would play a new game and we would always goof around. It was -- There was the game where you would come in really angry and then you'd sit in the chair and you'd fall every time. -Oh, yeah, fall off. Di
d a person that didn't know how to sit in a chair. -Yeah. But you were always yelling at me when you came in about something. -"Yeah, I want to be serious about this." And then, when you fall and you actually make a hurt face like... -There's that. We used to play store a lot, which is a Molly Shannon -- -Do you remember store? -Molly Shannon came up with a game called store. -This is the weirdest game we ever played. -It's the weirdest, greatest game. -You have to play it at 4:00 in the morning
. -You have to be -- It has to be 4:00 in the morning. -You have to be delirious -And -- Absolutely delirious and you have to take it very seriously and you have to walk in like you're in a real store and not laugh -- nothing is funny -- and pretend it's a store. One person is the shop clerk, and one person -- -Yeah, someone works at the store. -Yeah, and then you're just like -- You come in. Like, you come into the store. And I'm like... -Can I help you? -Oh, no thanks. I'm just browsing. -Alri
ght, well, let me know if there's anything I can do for you. -Oh, I have a que-- How much is this? -Oh, that's $29.99. And we would just do that for hours. -For hours. -There's no end. There's no end to it. That was it. That was the bit. -The end is "Thank you so much." -"Thank you." [ Cheers and applause ] -Then they leave. -Molly was great. I know. It was just so many ridiculous -- If you think about all the ridiculous jokes that we've made throughout the years, like -- Oh, I wish -- -I do --
I will say this. In all the time that I've thought about all the fun that we had doing it, what I love is that we did not have smartphones, we didn't have cellphones, and we used to just play. When we were together, we would play. -Yeah. -We weren't, like, looking at -- We weren't distracted. We were always with each other. -Yeah, no texting and that existed. -We were just playing all the time. -We just -- Yeah. It was actually the most fun, like camp. -Yeah. -And it just got -- It got to so man

Remember Will's character that he -- -Are you talking about Chip Kudrow or Ron? -I think it was Chip Kudrow. -Will Ferrell had a character named Chip Kudrow who would just show up at our pitch meetings, He was Lisa Kudrow's brother. Let's be clear. -That's what he kept saying. But was he the one that would wear the referee shirt? -Oh, maybe. I don't know if he wore overalls or a referee shirt. -Or was that Ron I'm thinking of? -Ron would just say, "I'm Ron." -"I'm Ron." -Y
ou would say hi to -- Will -- he would stay in character all week, and you couldn't break him. Just during the day, for no reason -- -One of the greatest gifts of life was, like, when I got to "SNL," there were so many people that were just like -- He was so comfortable doing the weirdest bits, and nobody said anything. I didn't know it wasn't normal. -Do you remember -- [ Laughter ] We didn't. -No. -But you didn't have -- You just go in and improvise from as soon as you got to the show till whe
n you left, and it was like -- Do you remember Will's last read-through, when you did Poetry Man? And we all just were crying. -Well, I did a -- I tried -- At the last table read, you write stuff that you know isn't going to make it on the show, but you just do it to send off the person that you love. And we did a -- It was, like, a parody of the Phoebe Snow song... -♪ You're the poetry man ♪ -Oh, "Poetry --" But it was -- But I made it... ♪ You're the comedy man ♪ ♪ You make everything alright
♪ ♪ Yeah, yeah ♪ -And, dude, we all lost it. I mean, there was like five sketches that were just like, "We love you, Will." Like, that's all they really said. It's like, "We love you, dude. We miss you." When you say goodbye to a cast member, you root for them, obviously, but you miss the times that you have. -Well, we were just -- We were so, so, so lucky that we had that time together. We were so lucky. And that it's documented, because now we can look back and watch it. But, like, we really h
ad some, like -- some golden -- some golden time. -Last time I saw you, I was lucky enough to go to see Amy Poehler and Tina Fey do their show together at The Beacon. -Yeah. -And you came out and surprised everyone. This is two weeks ago or something? -This was a little while ago, yeah. -And, man, you came out and destroyed! -That was really fun. I got to do a "Weekend Update" with the girls, and it was -- -You were giving your Oscar picks. -Well, yes, Whitney Houston gave her Oscar picks from h

You got a standing ovation, like, twice in the middle of your bit. It was insanely funny. And watching those guys just -- -What a dream. -Professionals. It took me back to those days where everyone's just goofing off, and, like, it's the best of the best, playing with each other. It was phenomen

We love maya rudolph and jimmy fallon

@thereallg4587

The old SNL duo we should’ve seen more of but enjoyed it when they did.

@Idontwant1

That’s one thing I totally agree with them was the 1990’s was the best. Not only did I have my children. But it was right at the start of normal people having cell phones. The phones didn’t have that good of cameras and the screen was so small you didn’t take videos. Texting wasn’t terribly popular thing we did. So if you were hanging out with your friends you played games and did stupid impressions of people we knew. And oh my God we were so silly.

@ufmit

What an amazing conversation. I’ll take any insight I can get from SNL and to know that they write love letters to their friends on their last read-through sounds like such a rad tradition.

@ShakiraTopic

I admire your great work Jimmy, keep it up

It’s really true, I’m in my twenties and my peers and friends have lost all sense of play. Dr. Brene Brown talks a lot about how cultivating play is essential to mental and social health. I can’t even sit down and watch a movie without thinking everyone scrolling ten minutes into it.

@ShakiraTopic

Aquí todos los que apoyan a Jimmy desde sus inicios 😢👇

@bokan800

I love their era of SNL. So many talented creatives and geniuses.

@heyisforhorses2476

For season 50 - they need to do entire episodes where the cast is just comprised of a cast of just people from 1999 or another year where the case was a bunch of all stars!

@Hhhk345

They’re relaying a message all, get off your phone and learn to engage with people again. I’m in.

@ShakiraTopic

Reportense los fans de Jimmy Fallon 😢👇❤️

@steveconn

I was there when they both were. Two really talented people.
