Both Messi and Ronaldo have achieved so much that these all footballers and pundits couldn't in their entire life. So discrediting one while praising other would be so unfair. I'm a die-hard Ronaldo fan but there's no denying that Messi is pure magic. If Messi is alien then Ronaldo is the epitome of the ultimate human form. Even at this age of late 38 he's still performing with the mentality of a player in his 20s. He's always been known for his winning/ never giving up mentality, athleticism, work ethics. I found when someone choose cristiano over Messi most of them always explain something that doesn't mean Messi is under cristiano. Having watched so many of these, I have noticed something quite interesting: A lot of Ronaldo's voters either played alongside him at some point, are English (and watched him dominate the Prem as they were growing up), or are Portuguese. Not all of them, of course, but a lot. But no one who has played with them both has ever chosen Ronaldo over Messi. And loads of Messi's voters have never played with him. Indeed, loads of them are not even Argentinian. That says something. When you eliminate personal ties and biases from the picture, more people rate Messi over CR7 than vice-versa. And that makes sense, because as Carra once said (and I'm paraphrasing), Ronaldo does things that other players can do, while Messi does things no one else can.
