WARNING: This video does contain constant
stuttering, so viewer discretion is advised. Before the video starts, I just wanted to
remind you all that subtitles are available, so if I mispronounce or misspell a word, be
sure to have subtitles on, just in case. Also, follow me on my socials, which will
be linked in the description below. Thanks for listening, and enjoy the video. Many of you wanted me to make a video about
this. I’m recording this at 11 pm, so the quality
may not be the best. But I
hope I’m able o keep you guys informed. With that being said,
I first stumbled upon the news on Reddit, and they said that on the official Michael
Jackson Youtube channel, most of the short films and music video’s thumbnails have
been updated to higher quality. According to Damian Wayne, shoutout to Damian;
this is the first time these thumbnails have been changed since they were first uploaded
in 2009 and 2010. They said these thumbnails were updated in
4K, but I don’t see a change in some. Fo
r example, the “Don’t Stop Til You Get
Enough,” “You Are Not Alone,” and “Stranger In Moscow” thumbnails have the same normal
quality as what they showed in the music video. I’ve also noticed that Billie Jean is the
only music video on Michael’s Youtube page whose thumbnail hasn’t been changed. I’ve always wondered why the thumbnail and
the music video haven’t been updated to higher quality, while Thriller and Beat It
were updated for Thriller 40, considering Billie Jean is Michael Jackson’s mos
t viewed
video on the channel. So, I’ve been doing some digging on Reddit,
and according to several theories, it is possible that the Estate rescanned the short films. Still, the outcome was disappointing due to
the poor quality of production. For instance, certain scenes may have featured
painted walls as part of the set design, and a painted glass technique could have been
used, resulting in blurred images to avoid empty shots. In this case, the Estate could rectify these
shortcomings by inves
ting sufficient funds in restoring the tapes and incorporating visual
effects. Alternatively, it is plausible that the original
film Billie Jean has been entirely or partially lost, making any form of remastering impossible. This seems highly likely, considering that
even Michael Jackson himself could not rescan them for his movie, Moonwalker, towards the
end of the 1980s. Consequently, this would suggest that Billie
Jean is theoretically classified as lost media. (I guess I’m gonna have to make
a part two
of my Lost Media video) Now, some fans are saying that the reason
for the thumbnail updates is that this could be the estate’s way of teasing the possibility
of the short films being updated in higher quality in the near future. Others are saying that this is in promotion
for their upcoming biopics, and a few are saying that this is in preparation
for their Sapphire Celebration, which marks what would’ve been Michael Jackson’s 65th
birthday. In my opinion, there is a possibility that
these short films could be remastered in the near future. But at the same time, this is the estate we’re
discussing, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up. But anyway, I just wanted to make this video
to inform you about the recent thumbnail update. There isn’t much to say other than they
look pretty cool. If they plan on updating the quality, I would
love for You Rock My World to be updated. I think that is one of Michael Jackson’s
underrated short films, and I will probably make a video discussing th
e song and video
soon. I’ll maybe do a little series discussing
each music video individually. But anyway, that’s the end of today’s
video. I hope you enjoyed it. If you want me to discuss anything Michael-related,
you can leave your suggestion in the comment section below. Make sure to leave a like and subscribe if
you’re new. Thank you all for watching, and I will see
you all in the next one.
