as the Missouri Gaming Commission celebrates its 30th Anniversary the future of betting in the state is still unclear ABC 17's Hannah Falcon is live at the state capital Hannah many are hoping sports betting will soon be legal in Missouri that's exactly right Lucas Morgan and although sports betting has never been able to pass here at the capital that has not stopped the push for it while gambling does provide a choice of entertainment for our citizens and the visitors to our state it was passed
in order to produce revenue for the state the Missouri Gaming Association celebrates 30 years of regulating Missouri's casinos slot machines and all other wage arrangments in the past 30 years the commission has given more than1 billion dollar from Casino admission fees to Veterans higher education and compulsive gambling help this past year $1.2 million was given to the veterans commission since Inception uh the gaming funds have enabled the funeral honors program to provide funeral honors at
Missouri's uh service men and women's uh funerals but what's next for gaming in Missouri should Sports wagering pass in Missouri the Missouri Gaming Commission stands ready to regulate that industry as well lawmakers pushed for sports betting for years but failed to get a bill passed now Missouri's professional teams band together trying to get sports betting on the ballot in 2024 I know that all the employees here are prepared for that um if that should occur but uh I feel like we will continue
