When you're at Chichester you surround
yourselves in a great environment and there's a great bunch of people that are always willing
and there to support you. I think the people that you meet are people that you really quickly form
bonds and connections with, especially lecturers as well you can have different tutors and you can
have different lecturers for different modules but I think every single lecturer that you that
i have potentially experienced at this uni has been extremely helpful
in helping me with every
single bit of work I've ever done in terms of preparation and actual content I'm learning
about the lectures have been extremely helpful. We have quite a small group within our sport
coaching cohort and I'm happy with that because that gives us the opportunity to personalize your
learning journey, so we will assign you a mentor within the staff team and we'll align that to the
interests that you identify as you walk in the door you would most like to work on. That
mentor
will stick with you throughout the year to help personalize the learning and if we need other
mentors as other interests developed during the year we can work with that, and that's what stands
us apart from other courses. Due to the background from the small number of people in the class
everyone comes from a different area so you get lots of people doing traditional sports, adventure
sports, team and individual and everyone bringing that background to the course really makes it
rel
evant and specific to the coaching background. The balance between theory and practical makes it
really relevant so using that theory in our actual practical coaching is a really good benefit of
this course. Having that expertise from different lectures in the university in the institute of
sport, I found that really valuable for my progression as a coach. Football
was my main sports that's the one I love to coach but to develop as a coach for me it was not just
coaching that I had to coach
a range of things so I might coach a little bit of rugby, I might
coach a little bit of basketball, netball... The skills that you learn coaching each different
sport will all tailor towards how you want to develop you know you might find it hard but
that's ultimately where you learn the most. So I'm currently serving in the army. I'm in
something called the royal line physical training corps which looks after physical training for the
army as part of my role I had to have a masters becaus
e I looked after research development of
physical training in the army. The coaching aspect has been absolutely invaluable to me because
actually we're trying to incorporate more coaching network within the armed forces. Having this
experience was really invaluable. The applicants that are best suited to this master's course are
those that are passionate about their coaching I don't mind whether they've decided they want to
go down academic or practical or a mix of the two, they're welcome.
It's easier to make that
transition if you come from a two one, but if you've missed that you'll have a story talk
to us. If you are out there coaching and a more mature applicant you're very welcome because to
be able to reflect back on your years of coaching and just challenge what you've been doing for
the last few years, brilliant. If you want to go into coach development and be a coach educator
because there's some lovely jobs coming out in coach development these days this could be
the course for you. Chichester as a university is brilliant it's quite small but because of the
size of it it's a really friendly atmosphere you get one of everybody, the people I was on the
course with were absolutely fantastic and we had a real bond together which was really quite nice. We got really well with teaching staff and yeah it just gives a really good learning environment
to get on with. So if someone was thinking about coming here I'd obviously tell them all
the amazing experien
ces that I've had and the community and the family that you develop here
I feel like you won't get other universities and having spoken to friends they've gone elsewhere I
don't think they've had the same experience that I've had, and I've absolutely loved the experience
I've had here and if someone was thinking about coming to university I'd definitely say and
recommend that they see if they see if they like the course and obviously make sure the course
is right but I'd recommend that they
come here.
