ve the same way we came today we want to thank you and welcome you to mount town today for our annual homecoming family friends day this is a blessed day though and i and i take it real personal because i'm homegrown and god has called me to minister and it's my first time able to celebrate homecoming and family friends in this accepting my calling today and i thank god for it today this is prayer this is home to me this is home i'm homegrown i thank god for this opportunity right now and right
now we're going to pray that we have our deacons to come up and have our devotion uh this morning this evening heavenly father we come right now with an attitude of gratitude just to say thank you father thank you for our last night lying down uh now early this morning rising father knowing it was you that taught our bodies for our eyes come over to see a brand new day father and father we know when it's sunset father we'll never see this day again and we just say thank you right now father some

hall at this time we're gonna come back to this tribute all right good evening everyone it's a blessing to be in in the house of the lord one more time i heard brother dr ross said that he is homegrown and i am also home over a half of a century so for those of you young people you can figure that out later i want to say this before i give the history of mount zion missionary baptist church on june which is june 19 1865 here in texas galveston texas we learned that our ancestors we were all exc
laimed and we learned that we were free right so as i was reading and trying to put together the history of mount vine missionary baptist church i was just awed of the struggles and i was just awed of all of the bravery that our ancestors had let me start off by saying this remember juneteenth 1865. mountain missionary baptist church began in a school building around 1870. now 1817 minus 1865 is five years and i think that is remarkable to come out of slavery to be able to have the wood fall and
be purged with the guard to be able to establish our very first church here at mount curry [Applause] brother monroe lyles he donated two acres one acre was for the church and the second acre was what a cemetery however before the donation was completed he died and he was the very first person to be buried in mount zion cemetery therefore his wife sister maria laws had to complete the process and this process was completed june 21st 1884 the original trustees who established mount zion missiona
ry baptist church they were m g dickey promise archie richard brown sydney dickey senior the very first pastor of mount zion missionary baptist church was reverend george office and that was in 1895 the preceding casters are reverend walter watkins 1895-1902 reverend d w white 1902-1910 reverend cornelius harrison 1910-1924 reverend e w dickey 1924-19 under the leadership of reverend dickey a new church was built reverend ben collins 1932-1949 again under reverend collins a new church was reveal
ed in 1941. reverend sam jones 1949-1961 reverend earl andrews 1961-1972 reverend s h dotson 1972-1973 rover paul ray january 1974 to june 1974 he died in a car accident after reverend ray's death our church was without a pastor for a few months and during that time the interim pastor was revered lb simon the church prayed for a new leader and god blessed the church on september the 18th 1974 the 11th pastor from mount zion missionary baptist church was reverend andrew isaac under his leadership
this church that we're in now was completed on june 1980 the very first service in this church was on june 23rd 1980 robin isaac resigned march 16 2003 due to illness once again the church went into prayer and we were blessed with our 12th pastor robert m c mccarter brother m.c mccarter was our devoted pastor from april april 21st 2003 till october 2018 reverend c.r hutchinson october the 5th 2009 to january 17 2016. once again the church went into prayer and we now have our current pastor reve
rend max joseph tower jr [Applause] reverend talliger is our 14th pastor here at mount zion missionary baptist church on august the 21st 2016 reverend toliver preached his first official sermon robin's hollywood sermon was from job 1 12-22 and 13-15 it was titled yet will i trust him will the members of mount zion church family and the community want our devoted pastor tolliver to know that we love you we appreciate you we love your wife this is angie tyler we pray that you're here for many many

person here this person is always full of joy always smiling is willing to help anybody and um they always joke when we get that get her age we want to be just like her so we just we just want to tell tell her you know that we love her she doesn't know you know she doesn't know that we're doing this and want to thank pastor for allowing us to to be able to do it and i'll let everybody else that i that i talk to individually they can say what they want to say and then we'll do our presentation go

o and she's like what you need me to do i told her i said do what you do best walk around and talk to everybody she's going to talk to you whether you talk to her or not and that's good though because she's always been the same though since i knew it i'm going to tell you one reason why i really appreciate her because she's a friend of my mom when i say she's a friend to my mom she'll call my mom and say elsa let's ride mama don't always feel like rise but she'll tell her she'll go anyway but th
is young lady here she'll ride all the time she'll be in austin next thing you know she in dallas the next thing you know she down in humble and she'd be everywhere and and and she ain't gonna put young but she she act young if you didn't know i know i don't know hey but i think or 70s but but but she act like she might be an affordable get around better than me and i just want to say i want to thank you and when i was asked i couldn't write nothing down i just had to shoot from the hill because
i know what she's been to me come on and i can't help but i can't help to say anything about her and don't say nothing about daddy george all right they adopted me like i say just i you know when they told me i was kind of like kind of bloated off like hell right you know you know you y'all you my son and they treat me just like a son when he pay he treated me just like a son when he was here when he when he passed away it never changed and she gets on me and i get on her and i just want to tel

he church is established that jesus christ this is my circle of the sentence jesus christ has given the church unlimited resources to do what it is that needs to be done that's when he was telling them in acts chapter one he was getting ready to go off the scene he had already died got up from the grave stayed around here for 40 days and now it's his time for him to go back to his father and you've got his 11 disciples who are zealots by religion they really thought that jesus christ was coming
to put them back in prominence and power they thought that he was going to overthrow the roman government and put them back in a place of prestige but jesus told them if you think that god's church is just relegated to huntsville you're thinking too small if you think that god has done something over 100 so here jesus is trying to tell them that what you're thinking is on a limited perspective but i want to give you something unlimited because when i launch you you'll be able to do exceedingly a
bundantly and above all that you can ask or think hearing is ephesians 3 20 according to the power that works in you and i wish i had at least five of y'all 10 of y'all 15 and y'all who can say lord i want the unlimited plan when it comes to church i want unlimited [Music] [Music] that shall recover i want to be able to have that power that one can choose a thousand you can put ten times in the fight maybe i need to ask the question again is there anybody here who wants god to sign them up for t
he unlimited way so it is my brothers and sisters jesus wants us to operate on the unlimited plan and so what what what entails this unlimited plan that's why i think i think i'm gonna like preaching from anxiety because you ask all the right questions there are some things that are entailing in this unlimited point i'll give you these and i head back to houston the first thing in the unlimited plan is number one we are deferred with unlimited power you can't shout could you close your bible it'
s in the first part of verse 8 and for the duration of this sermon i'm going to stay in verse number eight i'm going to part at verse number eight not gonna move [Music] he says i'm going to give you a realized introduction he says the you're going to get some power after i introduce you to somebody because for these past 33 years for these three years you've been walking with me you've seen me walk on water you've [Music] you see me do all of these [Music] but you can't do it yourself until i i
ntroduce you to somebody who's gonna help you to do it because you can't do it with your dialogues you can't do it with your constitution you can't do it with your bake sales your fried chicken no this kind of thing you're gonna come by something greater than you i'm gonna give you a realize into the word holy ghost it's not something that makes you shout it don't give your chills up and down your spine it don't make a heat on your toe but what it does i wish i had at least somebody here who can
say i've never spoken in terms of my life but i know i got the holy ghost because it makes me love my enemies it makes me love my friends and it won't let me be ashamed to tell somebody i've been born again [Music] so i'm going to introduce the holy ghost and he's going to give you power so that you can have a reaching influence from this time you've been you you've been moving around my little circle but god says i've got bigger things for you to do would you help me tell some bigger things we
always want to talk about a car or a house or two or creature covers no you can as long as i was talking about a car as long as i was talking about a garage you're not happy but you don't need no car you need delivery we don't need our house you need a breakthrough you don't need a man you need a miracle i wish i had somebody who said god i want bigger things if i preach it and you open your mouth and shout lord different things [Applause] he says i'm gonna define you with [Music] and the reaso
n why i'm giving you unlimited power is so you can demonstrate unlimited production he said he says you shall receive power after the holy ghost has come upon you here it is so you can be witness now first of all close those watch this who would be witnesses notice what i did not say i did not say this story when the lady was coming given the history of witnesses in other words nobody big mama sit down let me tell you what he did for me and i wish i had somebody here who could say you ain't got

mplying when you say give glory to god the definition literally means to tell the truth what it suggests is that you're going to get up on the witness stand raise your right hand and say the testimony i'm about to give is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth now everybody in here can't be a witness because you ain't seen god do nothing in your life but i think i've got about 60 y'all on this side who can say i'm going to raise my relationships i'm going to raise both of my hands a

ping just by way of colvin the doctor tells us that that jace had some tubes in his ear and the tubes did not fall out now we've been dealing with them going back and forth with different things um it's it's my prayer um the doctor started telling me things started saying hey if they don't fall out of his ear then um there's things that take place but i believe that they gonna fall out on their own [Applause] amen we believe god because he believed god because the same the same god and when the
doctors told in us zechariah yeah and i remember praying to the lord and i remember going back to the doctor and the doctor says we ain't seen nothing wrong and so it was my wife throughout this moment she reached out to me this morning she said i prayed and i believe god and we're going to wake up one morning and he gonna be on his pillow amen somebody believe god has the power hallelujah he has the power y'all i'm happy sister sunday is here amen when i praise the lord we have baptized if you

two three come on see what god is doing come on [Music] he's able to worship [Music] several weeks ago we had a meeting and we began amen not only that but while other churches were struggling during the storm and through conversation god blessed us we had a meeting several weeks ago and we talked about these plans and it was voted unanimously so let me tell you how good god is and then we have already passed and been able to financially support our phase one come on praise god for that and then
we're starting phase one of this because the people are faithful and giving and so the first phase the first phase is going to be our fourier um this is going to be the four year of the sanctuary um and we're going to move to our restrooms and before you know we're going to be knocking walls out they've been pushing the sanctuary already back expanding it's about 2800 square feet come on praise the lord somebody shout the blessings you have to come come and wake up [Music] amen listen y'all i'm
excited about what god is doing here at our church amen god is blessing us to continue to do the work of what he's called us to do amen listen this is after 40 plus years that god has allowed vision to come to pass anybody excited i'm excited come on make some noise i'm excited phase one phase one is pushing forward and moving phase one is pushing forward and then we're looking forward to starting phase one this fall amen and by [Music] amen listen we're going to have a bucket specifically for
tithes and offerings since we didn't have morning church this morning um and listen if you want to give to our renovation project amen if you're going to write it down they make you a more than welcome and inside about where we're going to be in the next several years and about what god is doing amen this is because we know the lord is with us and god continues to do great things in this church amen and i'm just proud to say that god privileges me to be the pastor of mount zion missionary baptis
