English Addict with Mr Duncan

Streamed 8 months ago

Are we on? I hope so. I hope you can hear me clearly because we are about to start another live stream. It is a short one, so this live stream will not be long. So don't worry. It won't be 2 hours long. It won't be 3 hours long. I will let you at some point go and do your own thing. But I couldn't resist coming out today because it is such a beautiful day here in England, I have to say. It's going to get hot. It's going to get very hot this weekend, apparently. Can you see this over here, by the
way? Can you see it? That thing there is for catching flies this time of year. We do have a big problem with flies for two reasons. I suppose the first reason is because it's summer. And during the summer months, of course, the flies do appear. They all hatch out from there, from their larva state. Have you ever seen flies when they are? Well, they look like maggots. And that's because they are maggots. So this thing here is catching the flies so they don't come into the house and give me diarr
hoea, which is lovely. The only problem is sometimes it does produce a rather unpleasant smell. Hi, everybody. This is Mr. Duncan in England. How are you today? Are you okay? I hope so. Are you happy? I hope you are feeling good today. Because I'm not feeling too bad. I am in a good mood. I will be honest with you. I am feeling rather good today. And I hope you can hear me all right. Of course, as I always say, if you can hear me, please let me know if you can't hear me. Also, please let me know
. Although, if you can't hear me, then you won't know that I am asking you to tell me that you can't hear me. Which doesn't make much sense when you think about it. Oh, that's better. We can see you now, Mr. Duncan. We can see your garden and we can see your lovely, handsome face. Thank you very much. Isn't that nice? So as I said, it's a beautiful day here, and I couldn't resist coming outside into the garden to do a short live stream for two reasons. First of all, because I wanted to. And the
other reason is I want to tell you all about my new lessons that are now being posted on my YouTube channel every day. So they are all new short lessons. It would appear that some people don't realise that I'm doing this, but I started doing this a couple of weeks ago and I also made some lessons, some short lessons whilst in Paris and I have posted those onto my YouTube channel as well. There are lots of new lessons coming up during this month and also July as well. There will be lots of new le
ssons as well. So so the reason why I'm here today is just to let you know that I am producing some new lessons. The playlist is under this video. So underneath here, the thing you are watching, you will see the playlist as well, and there will be new lessons posted every. And of course, I will still be with you every Sunday as well. Talking of Paris, I know that I, I have been talking quite a lot about Paris. And of course, yesterday there was a terrible explosion in the centre of Paris. And I
know I know many people were worried because some of you thought I was still in Paris, but I am not in Paris. I returned from Paris a few days ago and I'm safe and sound and I hope you are as well. But yes, a very tragic situation. It would appear that it was a gas explosion that took place that occurred. And I think it was the Latin Quarter, which is where we were. We were actually in the Latin Quarter a few days ago in that very same area. We actually had something to eat and a lovely restaura
nt. In fact, you might describe it as a cafe. Now, I often think of restaurants as places where lots of lavish large meals are prepared. But of course you can go to a cafe as well and quite often you will have meals served as well. So we actually had a lovely meal at a place called the Cafe The Floor, which is the flower cafe. And apparently that particular place is very famous because all the bohemians, the arts stock types, the people who look at the world through their artistic eyes, they wou
ld all meet at that particular place. So Hello, everyone. This is Mr. Duncan. If you are wondering who I am, all I can say is I am rather offended to be honest, that you don't know who I am. But you do now. So the introduction is happening right now. My name is Duncan. I talk about the English language. I love English very much. You might say that I am an English addict and I have a feeling maybe because you are watching now, perhaps you are an English addict as well. Of course. I suppose I shou
ld mention the live chat. Hello to the live chat. Nice to see you here as well. I wonder who was first. Oh, of course. V TASS, you are first today on the live chat we have Claudia. Hello, Claudia. I wonder what is cooking in your pot today? Sandra Gonzalez is here. Hello, Sandra. Nice to see you here as well. How wonderful to have your company on this very hot Thursday afternoon. It is really hot. I will be honest with you today. It's around about I think it's around about 26, 27 Celsius. But ov
er the weekend, it's going to get very hot. I think they said about 30, maybe even 31 degrees Celsius on Saturday. So it's going to get very hot. By the way, tomorrow. We are going somewhere very special. We are going to the city of Bristol, which is a historic place. Lots of history there. We are actually going to see one of our students, one of our lovely students, the same lovely student who met us in Paris. So she is actually here now in England. So tomorrow we are going to visit her. So if
you are watching at the moment, Beatrice Hello, Beatrice. Yes, we will be seeing you in Bristol tomorrow. I hope the weather will be nice and we can have a lovely walk around, a very historic place. Apparently there is a wonderful ship that is on display in Bristol. I've never been there. I've never been to that particular place. So it will be interesting to have a look. And of course, as you know, I will be filming as well. Of course, I will be. Much to the annoyance of Mr. Steve, I have to say
, sometimes Steve gets a little bit annoyed when I'm filming because quite often Mr. Steve wants to walk very fast, but I don't want to walk. I want to just do some filming. You see. So that might be happening tomorrow. So we are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Beatrice It will be another meeting after a very busy time in Paris. But now I am back again. I am back here in England. And. And I suppose the big question is, do I miss Paris? I have to be honest. I do. I actually do miss Paris.
I suppose I would say that I miss the excitement, the vibrancy, maybe even the noise and how busy everything was in Paris. So maybe that's the reason why I am missing Paris. But to be honest with you, I also like being here in the peace and quiet of the countryside. But I am missing it. But of course, I think we will be doing some more travelling. Mr. Steve keeps making suggestions of places where we could travel to next. So where would you like to meet us next time? Where would you like to mee
t Mr. Steve and myself? Would you like to meet us here in England? Because some people have said, Mr. Duncan, we would like to see you in England. Would that be possible? And my answer to that at the moment is possibly so. We've made no decisions. No decisions have been made at the moment, but there is a chance that we might meet up in England. We will say hello to Tom Car, who I think might be watching in Vietnam. I'm not sure. Hello, also Mustafa. Hello, Mustafa. Nice to see you here as well.
Claude here is having pork with cheese and tomato and eggs. That sounds like a very interesting conversation. Hello. Also to who else is here? We've got a lot of messages coming up on the live chat. Oh, very interesting. Thank you. I like your teaching style. Your teaching style is very nice. Thank you very much. It's very kind of you to say. I suppose some people don't like my teaching style. Maybe they think I don't take it seriously. But can I just say I do take it very seriously. I take all
of this incredibly seriously. The only thing I believe is that learning should be fun. If you are learning something new, then sometimes it is good to have fun whilst doing it. So that is my thought. Anyway, not everyone agrees with me. Some people say, Mr. Duncan, you silly sausage, you should be serious. You should be incredibly serious when you are teaching. Hello, Mr. Duncan. What is the topic for this live? Hello, Ahmed. Well, the topic today is just a short promotion. A reminder that I do
have new English lessons. So I am making short English lessons. You may have noticed recently on YouTube more and more people are now they are now uploading short videos instead of long videos. So I've decided to start making some short videos and I will be uploading them every day with a new subject, a new thing, maybe a word or phrase to learn. So that is what I'm planning to do over the next few weeks. I suppose also I should mention my live stream that I do every Sunday. Yes, I do. Come on l
ive every Sunday and normally we will stay on for 2 hours. So you have 2 hours of live spontaneous streaming every Sunday from 2 p.m. UK time. So the reason why I'm here today is just to let you know that is what is happening. I hope you are feeling okay today. I hope you are having a good time. I'm trying to press the screen. Hello to Shibli. Hello, Shibli. It's nice to see you here as well. Hello, Shibli. I like your name, by the way. Claudia says I would like to visit you in much Wenlock and
climb a 99 steps. Can I let you in on a little secret? We do have some. Some interesting steps. Not very far away from where I live. There are supposed to be 99 of them, and that's the reason why they are called the 99 steps. However, I have counted them and there are only 74 steps, not 99. So I feel at some point, maybe maybe at some point a person will complain about it. They might say, Mr. Duncan, why did you mislead us with your 99 steps? Because we went there and there aren't 99 steps. Ther
e are only 74. Why did you lie to us, Mr. Duncan? You're a liar. And your pants are on fire. Of course I didn't tell anyone I was doing a live stream today. This is all spontaneous. This is completely spontaneous. And I'm only here for a short time. But I wanted to remind you all that I am making regular lessons. New lessons. And there was a new one posted today as well. And the theme of that particular lesson was being to close for comfort. Maybe if something happens in your life, maybe if you
almost have a disaster or maybe you are almost injured by something, we might say that thing was too close for comfort. I am going in a moment. So this is just a short livestream just to say hi. And I will be back with you live on Sunday. So Sunday is the next time you can catch me live, completely live in the studio just over there. And Mr. Steve will be with us as well for 2 hours. Can you believe it? A whole 2 hours on Sunday. So that's it for now. I will let you carry on with your day. I hop
e you've enjoyed this very strange short live stream in my garden in England. I had a wonderful moment this morning. I shared a very interesting moment with a snail. Does that sound weird? But it's true. I did. I had a very unusual moment here in the garden with a snail. I was walking around the garden this morning and I noticed there was a snail going slowly across the lawn, and I was a little concerned because there are lots of birds flying around here. And I was worried that one of the birds
might come down and take the snail away and eat it. So I picked the snail up and then I suddenly realised that the snail was getting very excited and I couldn't work out why. And then I realised that maybe it was the first time that that particular snail had ever flown before. So it must have felt as if the snail was flying through the air. So I would imagine later when that snail goes back home to all of its other friends, it will tell them that this morning it actually flew. And you know what
will happen? All the other snails will not believe it. They will think that particular snail might be going crazy, but it did happen. So this morning I was holding a snail by its shell and the snail was enjoying the sensation of flying around. It's quite a nice moment, actually. Anyway, I'm going. We are coming up to 20 minutes. This live stream has been going on for I hope you enjoyed it. I hope this has been interesting, even though it was only a very short live stream. Mr. Duncan, do you thin
k repeating the same lesson many times helps to learn the language? I found it boring, says Ahmed. Well, learning can be boring. There are things that you have to do in life that you don't want to do. To be honest with you. When I wake up in the morning, I just want to stay in bed all day. But I can't. I have to get up and do things. So sometimes in life we have to do things that might not be very exciting. They might not be interesting, but you still have to do them. Learning takes time. It tak
es patience, and sometimes you have to repeat things to learn. You have to do something again and again. When you learn to ride a bike, you don't just do it. Once. You have to try and do it many times before you get it right. So I always say that part of learning is repeating things. It is true and it does happen and it is a very important thing to remember. I am going now. I will see you later on Sunday. And of course, I will be with you tomorrow, with a recorded lesson as well. This is Mr. Dun
can in England saying Thanks for watching. See you soon. And of course, until the next time we meet, you know what's coming next. Yes, you do. The flies are biting me ta ta for now.

They say that our brain cannot pay attention during long hours. Hence the good idea of doing these short lessons.
