in San Francisco a massive fire has left nearly a dozen people in need of a new place to live this Easter weekend well tonight locals are asking how it started and whether a recent fire aty nearby Church might be connected NBC bay area's Christy Smith explains just before two this morning dozens of residents in the Mission District Department complex woke up to a fast spreading fire that took some 95 firefighters to knock down basically because the amount of uh residents in the multiple unit apa
rtment complex uh requires that type of uh response along with uh the amount of fire being close to proximity of all buildings Lieutenant Mariano Elias is with the San Francisco Fire Department there was uh one uh elderly lady who was escorted out of the building uh with smoke inhalation and there was another minor injury as well uh 11 residents were displaced none of them requested any Red Cross assistance although they were offered firefighters described what they were seeing if you look behin
d me you can see the uh burn marks up against the building and uh the concentration of the fire started behind uh a vehicle or and or in a vehicle and that's what our Bureau of fire investigation is investigating tonight the question is whether the fire was an accident or arson I think mostly in the neighborhood they're outside because we see the fire from from the back Jean Baker's building was not damaged but she says the blaze did make her Wonder about another fire reported yesterday at a nea
rby Church Good Friday and this one Saturday morning CU my God there's so much going on we have to look at them independently of each other and not uh jump to conclusions so early on tonight the Flames are out but the impacts are far from Over the building uh will be red tagged uh so there's no people who can live in their unit unfortunately um and then the investigative team will continue U to investigate the fire in San Francisco chith and BC B news
