New Baby, Furry Friend: Making Smooth Introductions with Warren Eckstein!

📝 In this insightful video, Warren Eckstein, renowned Pet Psychologist and Pet Humorist, shares essential advice for pet owners who are expecting a baby. These tips will help you create a harmonious transition for your family. 🐶 Tip 1: Familiarization 🐱 Get your pet accustomed to baby sounds, smells, and items. Play recordings of baby coos and giggles, let them sniff baby lotions, and introduce them to baby-safe toys. Familiarity breeds comfort! 🐾 Tip 2: Behavior Corrections 🐾 Address any existing pet behavior issues before the baby arrives. Whether it’s excessive barking, jumping, or territorial behavior, work on positive reinforcement and consistency. A well-behaved pet makes for a happier household. 🏥 Tip 3: Vet Check-In 🏥 Schedule a visit with your veterinarian. Discuss your pet’s health, vaccinations, and any specific concerns related to the upcoming changes. A healthy pet is better equipped to handle transitions. And don't forget the nail trim! ✂️ 🌞 Tip 4: Routine Matters 🌞 Maintain your pet’s regular routine as much as possible. Consistency provides comfort during times of change. Stick to feeding schedules, walks, and playtime. Your pet will appreciate the stability. A lot of my listeners get married and they postpone child rearing for careers, but then all of a sudden they decide that they want their human baby But before the stalk arrives, listen to me carefully, socialize your dog or cat to kids, especially if you've been previously childless. Make sure your pet's familiar with typical baby sounds, smells, and items. You can actually download the sounds from the internet and play them at a gradual increasing volume for your pet. Bring home a doll to simul
ate what a baby's going to be like. Work your pet in correcting any behavior problems before the baby arrives, like jumping or chewing or any problem like that. And a couple of weeks before the baby's arrival, make sure you take your pet to the veterinarian for a complete physical checkup, including vaccinations and nail clipping. And make arrangements for your pet's care during the hectic time when you, as the mother, is in the hospital. Your pet's daily routine should be kept as normal as poss
ible, and particular attention walking and feeding. Your baby and your dog or your cat should be best friends if you follow the tips I just gave you. I'm Warren Eckstein.
