Blaming the media for your team's bad PP proves he's a bad coach. He refused to hold his team accountable for overall bad play. He had this coming.
Missing a few point here… handling of the players has been questionable… Alex Holtz being buried of the 4th line, playing Brendan Smith over Colin Miller or Santeri Hatakka (who showed very well), Running Nico Daws into the ground. Power play started the year great and the went super cold, and nothing changed. Teams have been “trapping” the Devils to slow then down through the neutral zone and nothing changed.
This team gave up the first goal in almost every game this season. They showed up UNPREPARED every damn game practically. He REFUSED to play Timo on RW which was his NATURAL POSITION IN SAN JOSE and the few minutes he did, Timo scored and played well so he decided in his INFINITE WISDOM to put Timo back on LW. WHY???? You can't POSSIBLY say Lindy was shafted here. Yeah, we should have gotten a goalie sooner and what you're saying about the two schools of thought is VERY CONCERNING as a Devils fan. But Lindy isn't the answer either and now this is Green's evaluation period. Also, this exact same thing happened in Dallas. Lindy held back a very good Dallas team with questionable decision making and Dallas was only able to take a next step organizationally once he was gone. Ask Stars fans, they'll tell you.
Now New Jersey needs a coach and a goalie.
Well, said coach kept Timo on the 3rd line on LW (hes a RW) with guys like Lazar and Bastian/Haula... they moved him up to the first line recently and he's looked so much better
I think New Jersey will get a goalie either before the trade deadline or over the summer. If not, fire the GM, who should be on the hot seat for not doing so last summer.
Pointing at the goalie situation and blaming that for everything wrong with this team is an oversimplification.

Literally no one thinks we don't need a goalie. It's not separated into two camps at all. We need a goalie, but we need a coach that doesn't play a rookie goalie that just had hip surgery over and over. A vocal coach that has the locker room and encourages inspired hockey. A coach that benches rookie defensemen without leniency because Luke's last name is Hughes, Luke, Nemec and Bahl are gassed you can see it! Ruff was one of many problems the team has suffered through this season, and we need a true leader behind the bench.

Great Video, as usual, guys. I was saying the same thing, in a way, Kypro. I can't begin to even understand how GM Tom Fitzgerald gets An Extension on his Contract & Lindy Ruff, the Head Coach gets fired, when, it's the moves that they made (Tiffoli, Meire, Palat & others, not to mention injuries - especially Dougie Hamilton) that are in question. I'm not saying that Lindy Ruff is the best Coach, but, he's had so much success, especially, in nearly winning A Stanley Cup with other organizations (like Buffalo, with Decent Players). As you say, Kypro, why not get Lindy Ruff A Goalie before you fire him. Let me know what you think.
A coach with a long and impressive time..but Devils are a young group and it’s been self evident for awhile this team was ready for a more energized coaching presence and holding young guys accountable. It was plain to see adaptability and adjustment from coaching staff more essential given injuries with veteran players. Criticism of the goalie tandem at some point became overblown. The guys they have need games and experience. They aren’t outright bad. Markstrom like many top goalies can struggle with unsuccessful outcomes. Remember how devastated he was with having a tough postseason run with Flames vs Oilers. Don’t assume he is relishing savior role with Devils. At age 34 maybe he likes this Flames team and staying put. The Devils are in a good spot to finish out this score of games in the season work with coaching change and head into summer having come out well from a rebuild.
Travis Disaster Green is taking over (interim coach). Only bad things will come out of that change. Green is perticulary bad with complex game systems and skilled players (like Hughes, Bratt, Holtz, etc). Green's media handling is among the worse in sports all together. If NJD management don't get a some what good coach the team will be one that players flee from.
