New Miracle League for special needs children set to begin in Stuart

A baseball league aiming to bring a sense of community will kick off in Stuart this week.

Trevor sherro and his wife have an 8-year-old non-verbal son and admit it was hard to find activities in Martin County for kids with disabilities and the family noticed that their son loved baseball and enrolled him in a program called The Miracle League The Miracle League in Palm Beach County what I saw there with my son is that the community showed up and what would happen is my son would would round third base and he'd start heading home and you'd hear just this this thunderous Applause the M
iracle League was created in 2000 to allow children with disab abilities to play America's favorite pastime baseball and the organization has been a hit expanded to more than 350 Fields across the US and Canada and for the Shara family the only issue that they faced was the commute from Martin County to Palm Beach County there are have to be hundreds if not thousands of children that are like my son that don't have that opportunity to travel an hour every single day to go play bask or baseball t
he family spent months talking with leaders of the Miracle League and Martin County and after gaining the needed sponsors the family took the social media to announce the welcoming of the Miracle League in Martin County at sailfish Park and it's great we need to build more opportunities in Martin County for this specific population um we honestly are growing and we need more um support in the community to have these kinds of opportunities Chandra Rivers is the mother of a non-verbal child who al
so battles epilepsy and says her entire family is set to watch her baby boy play this Thursday um our whole family is waiting for it um bod's Nana is going to be here early so we can ride together and I teach at Martin County high school and I have several students that are volunteering so they're also looking forward to um contributing to this cause currently the league has 32 kids registered to play play for two teams and sherard says the plan is to expand over the coming years in Martin Count
