I may actually be more happy now than I was with the original release of the phon lumity hearing eights hey guys Cliff Olson doctor of Audiology and founder of Applied Hearing Solutions in Phoenix Arizona and in this video I'm talking about several new hearing aids that phon just released on the lumity platform that's right it's been over a year since phonk released their lumity platform of hearing aids and they have decided to actually add more options to this very popular lineup if I'm being h
onest I was a little disa you know what I was a lot disappointed that phac did not release any disposable battery options with their initial release of the lumity hearing aids now don't get me wrong I absolutely love dispensing rechargeable hearing aids and they've become extremely popular for the vast majority of hearing aid users and I dispense multiple different brands inside of my clinic and the lumity hearing aids the rechargeable version of the lumity hearing aids have been some of the mos
t popular devices that we've dispensed over the course of the past year the problem is not everybody wants rechargeable hearing aids disposable battery hearing aids are still a great option for a lot of people for several reasons not everyone has consistent access to power outlets some hearing aid users wear their hearing aids longer than the rechargeable batteries will last especially if they use a cross transmitter heavy use of Bluetooth streaming will kill rechargeable batteries faster if you
travel without your charger you can't just go and purchase a new charger at a store like you can with disposable batteries if an internal rechargeable battery dies you're basically screwed until you can get that sent in for repair and if the same thing happens to a disposable battery you just change the Disposable battery on the spot for the past year I've either been dispensing the previous generation Paradise devices to my patients or switching them into an entirely different brand just to ge
t them a disposable battery option even if that particular hearing aid wasn't the best for them so this release of four new disposable battery lumity models makes me a very happy audiologist and should have you being a very very happy hearing aid user if you want to use disposable batteries now before I get into what all four of these new models are if you could do me a huge favor and click the like button it really helps out my channel and if you are not yet subscribed to the Channel with notif
ications turned on go ahead and do that as well it is greatly appreciated I should also mention that this video is not sponsored and no matter how good the phonak lumity hearing aids are they are no good unless you have them fit and programmed by a hearing care professional who follows comprehensive audiologic best practices now if this is the first time that you're hearing about best practices they are essentially a long list of procedures that must be completed by your hearing care professiona
l in order for you to experience the full amount of benefit out of your hearing aids and I will link a full video talking about best practices in the description now if you would like an easy way to find a hearing care professional who follows these comprehensive best practices make sure that you check out my website hearing up.com to find a hearing up Network member near you every single one of the hearing up providers have been vetted and are committed to providing comprehensive audiologic bes
t practices so you can be confident that you will hear your absolute best with your hearing aids all right the four new disposable battery versions of the lumity hearing aid are the AO 312 Rick that uses a size 312 battery you also have the naita lumity super power BTE hearing aid that uses a size 13 battery then you have the two Sky hearing aids you have the sky lumity M BTE hearing aid that uses a size 312 disposable battery and you have this Sky lumity superpower BTE hearing aid that uses a s
ize 13 battery when you add in the previously released naita and Sky BTE hearing aids that were ultra power devices using a 675 battery you now pretty much have every hearing loss covered for an adult and for a child using a disposable battery on the lumity platform the one group left out individuals with single-sided deafness unfortunately there is no disposable battery option for those individuals because there is no disposable battery cross transmitter on the lumity platform if that includes
you you will either have to go with the rechargeable version of the Cross transmitter on the lumity platform or bounce back a generation to the paradise line of devices that use the size 13 disposable battery for one of their cross transmitters I was also hoping for an upgrade of the custom verto line of hearing aids on the lumity platform but unfortunately we are not getting that with this release otherwise you now have the ability to upgrade to the lumity platform if you've been waiting for a
disposable battery version of these hearing aids and get all the same great benefits and features that you can get inside of the rechargeable version of these devices these features include the autosense OS 5.0 operating system which is PHX automatic classifier that will identify the Acoustics of your environment and put you into different program settings that are ideal for those environments the example that I like to give for this is that if you're sitting at home your hearing a will be in a
calm situation program then you decide you want to go out to dinner you can hop in the car once you're in the car the hearing aids will switch into a speech and noise program then when you get into the restaurant the hearing aids will identify all of that restaurant noise and put you into either a speech in noise or speech in loud noise program to help cut down on the background noise and help you focus on the speech of the person talking to you of course if you decide you want to go listen to y
our favorite local band once you get there the hearing aids will identify that there's music in your environment and switch you into a custom music program and it does all of this automatically for you without you having to do anything autosense OS 5.0 also enables five of the seven smart speech Technologies in the Disposable versions of the lumity hearing aids these features include stereo Zoom 2.0 which improves speech understanding by 16% in noisy situations speech sensor which improves speec
h understanding by up to 15% when that speech is from your sides or from behind you speech enhancer that improves speech intelligibility by 23% if someone is at a distance of a up to 4 M and improves intelligibility by 18% if someone is in a different room Dynamic noise cancellation uses directional microphones and spatial noise cancellation which reduces background noise and increases auditory comfort and Roger technology like the Roger on Roger select I in and Roger table mic 2 I in the two sm
art speech technologies that you do not get is the motion sensor because you have to have the rechargeable battery for that which means no tap control to answer your phone or to pause and start streaming and no activent technology with these so you cannot use the activent receiver that opens and closes the venting depending on the environment that you're in and whether or not you're streaming that also requires the use of a rechargeable battery of course one of my favorite features that you stil
l get with these disposable battery Hearing Aids on the lumity platform is phonex custom seashell embedded receiver e molds these ear molds can be created in acrylic or Titanium with acoustically optimized vents which are perfect for a lot of different different types of hearing loss from a physical fit perspective as well as an acoustic performance perspective custom eolds from phon make their devices perform substantially better than what you could get from using a generic rubber Dome alone th
e best part is phonk now accepts 3D digital ear scans so your hearing care professional can take a detailed laser impression of your ears instead of using injectable Putty for a more precise fit and the Disposable battery lumity hearing aid solved the problem of these custom e mols not fitting inside of the rechargeable cases that phonak has because they do not use a rechargeable case phonak has also put these disposable battery lumity hearing aids through the same rigorous testing that they put
the rechargeable battery hearing aids through this quality control and reliability testing included 128 different tests to ensure that their devices meet their high standards of performance these disposable battery versions of the lumity hearing aid will also come in all of the different tier levels of technology so you will have in the AO and naita hearing aids the level 90 level 70 level 50 and level 30 and inside of the sky devices you're going to have level 90 level 70 and level 50 with lev
el 90 always being their premium offering you also get all of the same great color options from PHX so you can match your skin tone your hair tone if you want to disguise them a little bit more but if you're a little bit more bold you can go with their precious pink electric green and Caribbean pirate colors of course all phon lumity hearing Ed Bluetooth classic which allows you to pair with up to eight different Bluetooth devices whether they're Android devices Apple devices laptop computers de
sktop computers dumb phones smartphones whatever the case may be you can pair up to them and you can have two connections active at the exact same time while this is the most universal form of Bluetooth currently these are not going to be equipped with Le audio Bluetooth on this lumity platform unfortunately that is something that you're going to have to wait for if that's what's really important to you if you don't know what Le audio Bluetooth is you might want to check out my other video talki
ng about that new form of Bluetooth that I will also Link in the description honestly these hearing aids are so good that I probably wouldn't wait for Le audio Bluetooth especially because not a lot of other devices out there actually use this new form of Bluetooth yet if I'm being honest this new form of Bluetooth is probably going to take another couple of years to really get up and running as for the other feature improvements that are going to coincide with the release of this new disposable
battery version of the lumity hearing aids we're going to see a data logging upgrade inside of the professional phac Target software and we're also going to see an upgrade inside of the new and improved my phone AC app that now has 4.4 stars in the Google Play Store previously the data logging information that your hearing care professional would be able to collect from your hearing aids to tell them how much you adjusted volume how often you wore the hearing aids and what environments you went
into that were being controlled by autosense OS 5.0 would just be wiped out from session to session now you're hearing care professional will be able to go back into previous sessions to identify if your listening environments have changed which can help them better program all of those different environment programs the my phone AC app will also receive an upgrade to version 6.7 which will help it better track your wear time cuz we did have some issues tracking the wear time inside of the app
with the previous version we're also getting some updates to the my phone junor app this includes new sound environment tracking for calm situations noisy situations Roger use and streaming so parents can track the usage of their child's Sky lumity hearing aids so if you do not have your phone set up to auto update your apps make sure that you go to the app store or go to the Google Play Store and update your my phac app right now okay so here's the thing I was really stressed out when phonak di
d not release disposable battery versions on their lumity platform because I literally thought that phonk was 100% getting out of the Disposable battery game so all of this excitement that you see is really a lot more of relief knowing that phonak is still listening to what we want as providers and what you guys want as hearing aid users now I'm just hoping that they listen to me when I say that I really want a size 13 disposable battery version of the AO hearing aids with a compatible cross tra
nsmitter cuz I swear I fit probably more cross transmitters than anybody except for Dr Scott Frank up in Salem Oregon all that being said I still do believe that rechargeable battery hearing technology will be the technology of the future I just think that it is not quite there yet to be suitable for everyone so if you've been putting off hearing treatment because you've been waiting for a disposable battery version of this lumity hearing aid I'm happy to say that the weight is over

Loved the shout-out! Thanks!

@JesusReyes-fh6wy

I am also super excited about this! Thanks so much for keeping us informed! As I’ve said before in some of my other comments, I happen to be a completely blind hearing aid user, and disposable hearing aids make me significantly less nervous while going out and about my everyday life.

@David-Field.Stuff01

Great video as always. As a 4 year user of rechargeable Resound Linx Quattro 961 hearing aids whose batteries have failed once each year (and the charger failed twice also) in the 4 years of my warranty, had I been offered a disposable battery version at the start of my hearing aid journey, knowing what I know now, I would have taken it. Loosing my hearing aids for 14 days at a time while they are serviced/replaced is way too long to be isolated from family and friends. My next hearing aids will definitely be a disposable battery model.

It’s good to know that Phonak has been listening to what features consumers want in their hearing devices. During my trial period, i kept changing my mind on rechargeable or disposable battery devices. While i am generally happy with the Phonak Lumity battery life and Bluetooth connectivity, the battery always goes to low power mode a few hours before I am ready to take them off for the day. On days when i have late Zoom meetings, i put mine on a few hours later in the day to try and keep the rechargeable battery running until the end of my meeting without having to pop them into the charger in the afternoon. I am also glad Phonak is making changes in the app. i still haven’t been able to get the app to sync and. accurately track my wear time. Also, nice photo of Dr. Frink. I love having him as my audiologist.

@AshworthPerformance

Such great news!!! May have to upgrade my Marvels to the Lumity version now while waiting for LE Audio. Glad to see Phonak isn't leaving the old battery tech behind. The new LE Audio chips will hopefully be sufficiently "Low Energy" that rechargeable batteries will be a realistic option for the power users that stream all day.

@williamhughes8440

Great news,just what I’ve been waiting for.

@terryhickey524

I upgraded to Phonak Lumity 70 with a CROS a couple of months. I love them, except for the battery life. I did have the firmware updated last month and it makes the Bluetooth for streaming more consistent and the battery life is a bit better. I still top up the aids most afternoons when I am working. They do charge very fast. Luckily, I have my older Phonak Audeo aids for backup.

@mmarjisr

I have the charger on the go case plus my old marvel hearing aids as a backup but for people you don't have the old ones as a backup then this hearing aid might be a good one for them

@topmechanic

I just started using the Phonak lumity 70 hearing aids and I love them except for the fact that the battery power goes low by the middle of the evening without using streaming. If I stream the battery requires charging sooner. I'm glad to hear that I have another option

@randymercer3409

I have Oticon real 1 rechargeable I stream all my calls and do some streaming music, after 15 hours of use I still have 30% battery left. What I like about Oticon is the rechargeable battery can be replaced at my audiologist office with no down time. Plus not having to buy batteries, so it’s rechargeable for me.

@lotsoflotty2703

Hi I’m in Australia- I have severe to profound loss in both ears. I use battery BTE Zircon 1 aids. They are set to the top they can but I’m now looking for better support. These mentioned might be an option 😊

@k3ycha1nz

Can you make a video comparing the Audeo Lumity with a UP receiver vs the Naida Lumity SP? I looked up the product information and datasheets for both and they seem to have similar outputs and fitting ranges. I am not sure what the specific use cases are for each if they're somewhat similar. For context, I am a current owner of Naida B90 SPs looking to switch to Audeo Lumity (battery version) with UP receiver.

@mangatbansal7279

Does bluetooth or wireless earphones effect tinnitus as comparison to wired earphones?

@aztravelguy

Only real disappointment is the lack of tap control - not a deal breaker, just a point of frustration, as it does not need to be tied into a rechargeable battery. It's just been engineered that way and I suppose this was the most cost-effective way to get a disposable option to market - dump the feature. Still easy to answer via a phone screen that's almost always near me anyway. That said, I do use the tap control to disconnect from my TV Connector when I need to hear/speak with others in the room. Every disposable battery device I've ever owned from Phonak was a size 13 battery. Even SP model devices would get me at least 10 days, if not 12 to 14 on average. While I know Bluetooth and even Roger streaming affects battery life, have Phonak published expected battery life on any of the Lumity disposable battery devices? I didn't see it when the Naida L-UP came out, and don't see it with these new Audeo and Naida devices either. Is an Audeo L-312 going to give a week of 15 hour usage, 10 days of it, or what? Ballpark estimate would be helpful.

@lindaspiller6246

Okay. this is better news. The two models that take size 13 batteries might be a good fit for me. But… Can I override the auto-program selection and pick my own program? Thanks!!

@barryalanlevine

T-coil in the new RIC model, or no?

@meric12131415

Hey doc where's your studio? Did it magically turn into a green screen?

@konracciesla

you need phonak b titanium and 312 or 13 batteries similar to starkey llc

@valdemarsyk3985

Regardless what type of hearing aids that are avilable is that nothing for me i want instead the cure

@aztravelguy

Would willingly pay an upgrade fee to swap from L90-RT to L-312. The loss of telecoil would be outweighed by the replaceable battery. 15-16 hours on a charge is just unacceptable for my needs when I'm frequently traveling, at work sites, or out and about for long days. Having to carry a battery pack and stop for 15-30 minutes for a charge boost is ridiculous.
